IPad mail boxes and other matters

I have just bought an iPad 2 and want to do two things:
1     Start a new mailbox. I have 'in box' and 'trash', but want to start a variety of new mailboxes to store emails, but have no idea how to do that.
2     I want to keep attachments (i.e. word documents, excel spreadsheets, PDF files etc) in a filing cabinet somewhere in the iPad. Is there a way of doing this or maybe an App I can get?
Anybody know how to do this stuff?
Thanks
Malcolm

1, if it's an IMAP type account then you should be able to create additional folders by logging into your email account on a browser and creating them there - they should then appear in the Mail app. If it's a POP type account then unfortunately you're stuck with what you've got.
2, you will need a separate app to transfer them to - there is no filing cabinet or file system on the iPad as on computer's, all files/documents etc have to be associated in/with an app. The GoodReader app (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/goodreader-for-ipad/id363448914?mt=8) supports a number of document types :
GoodReader not only supports massive PDF and TXT files, but also handles the most popular file types:
• MS Office - .doc, .ppt., .xls
• iWork ’08/’09
• HTML and Safari webarchives
• High resolution images
• Even audio and video!
From within the Mail app touching and holding the attachment should bring up an 'open in' option listing the apps that you've got installed that support that file type - thereby allowing you to transfer the file to it.

    Hello,
Are they just regular size eMails?
Do you have more than one eMail account setup?
    Next time it happens, get...
    Find Any File...
    http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/
Hold Option or alt key when selecting Find to Find All.
Use it to Find All, for Name ends in...
    .emlx
    (dot ee em el ex)
And Modification Date, is within, the last 5 minutes or whatever.

  • Smart Mail Boxes and how they work?

I am having some difficulty with Smart Mail Boxes, either that or I am not understanding them correctly
So I created a Smart Mail Box so that all the mail which included a particular recipient would go into it, which it does. But I also have the mail in my in-box as well
What I was hoping is that all that particular mail would just go into the smart mail box and not be in the in-box.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Philip

No, you are not doing anything wrong. The original e-mail stays in your inbox until deleted, which will also delete it from the Smart Folder. The Smart Mailbox is a 'sorting' tool, but it doesn't actual contain the e-mails.

  • How migrate all mail (boxes and accounts) from 10.6.8 on Mavericks (without Migration Assistant)?

How migrate all mail (boxes and accounts) from 10.6.8 on Mavericks (without Migration Assistant)? Install the system (10.9.1) on a blank disk, copied the program and set up manually. Mail accounts and folders does not work to install and configure. Migration Assistant does not want to use, as it copies everything, and you only need to e-mail. Read a lot, but nothing works.

Try reindexing the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.
    Reindex messages.
If that doesn't work try deleting MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3.
    Quit the application.
You need to look in your user Library. Either hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command and select your user Library in your home folder or use the Finder “Go To Folder” command and enter ~/Library/Mail/V2/Mail Data/MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3.  Move the file to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the file from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return thefile to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you prefer to make your User library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
    Show User Library
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.5. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • Tiger to Leopard Mail Boxes and Rules?????

Can I drag my mail boxes and rules from a tiger system (10.4.11) to a leopard system (10.5.2)?
    Thank you

    I intended to drag from/to ~user<me>/Library/mail.
As I do sometimes, I posted the question then went and experimented. Wondering now if I can reverse what I did. I imported the mailboxes from the tiger machine, then modified the rules to point to the Import/mail box name.
Thinking it would be preferable to not have the Import mail box folder. So maybe I can drag the Imported folder to the trash and as you and the next guy suggested, just drag my tiger Mail folder and .plist file to leopard????

  • Why can I sometimes paste text into a revision history dialog box and other times cannot?

Why can I sometimes paste copied text (from another VI's revision history, for instance or from anywhere else) into a revision history dialog box and other times cannot? All versions of LabVIEW! It's something like the control key becomes diabled. I've noticed the same thing when saving many VI's at once, some will let you paste into revision history and others will not. Aren't all VI's created equally when it comes to revision history? All versions of LabVIEW since 3 have plagued me with this problem.

    Hello,
If you'd like to add text to the revision history of a VI, you can
paste into the Comment box and add all of your text at once.  The
history itself can be read from this window, but cannot be directly
edited.  The History field is read-only in the dialog box.
If you feel this should not be the case, your best course of action is

  • MacBook Pro (version 10.7.5) got some features such as toolbar, mail, safari and other only in English

After installing the MacKeeper (now uninstalled) in my MacBook Pro (version 10.7.5) got some features such as toolbar, mail, safari and other in English (use in Portuguese - Brazil).
I've already set the System and Preferences> Language & Text, for use in Portuguese, but still does not work.
Someone know what should I do?

Very strange problem (no surprise to you).
I suggest you reset the SMC (and PRAM, if you are able). That cannot hurt and might help.

  • 10.5.2 update crashes in Safari, mail, itunes and others

I recently updated to 10.5.2 and am experiencing window drop-out after about 15 minutes in mail, safari and others. Once the window has dropped out the app. seems to freeze and the only way to recover it is to power down and reboot. I am not sure that it is the update that is at fault though, it just seems logical. It is happening on my new Imac and my G4 laptop. I have tried permissions repair and reloading the update to no avail. Has anybody had this problem? Any answers please?

There have been many reports of problems with third party apps, as well as with apps that are not yet updated for Leopard. I wonder if there is some app update that spelled doom for you? My best suggestion is...
    start from scratch.
Clone the drive, do a clean install, us Aasistant to move your documents and system level stuff back but not the third party apps. Install the third party apps one by one to see where the problem is. I suspect that any app that affects 'look and feel' will be the culprit. Or not. Early on, I could not run Acrobat Pro, Photoshop Elements and Toast at the same time. With the current updates, they work fine. All three wanted to use the same system resources, at least at first.
It's a pain but in the end it could work.

  • Exporting to Unix mail boxes and lots of other problems

The newer themailer gets the worse it gets. The mailer won't do moves successfully, won't get and save all xcontents all the time as it should, delays showing mail it gets, and on and on. I want to export all of my emails (100,000 or so of them) to Unix email formats so I can escape the crappy applicaiton and go back to elm or some other mailer. How do I export to Unix mail box format? Don't bother to tell me to drag and drop to the desktop. It does not do the translation!

To convert to mbox, emlxconvert says it will do the job.
I can't make head nor tail of the other problems you say you are having. (I happily used elm for 15 years before switching to Mail.app about 2 years ago, but now you couldn't pay me to go back.)

How does it happen that I have 127MB of mail and attachments in the usage overview on my iPhone 5 Mail when everything is empty? Nothing is there, complete blank of attachments, drafts, e-mails, sent messages, contacts and so on. I can't believe that the Mail app in itself has the size of as much of 127MB, or does anyone know if this is true or not and to help me to solve it?
