IPad mail crashing. Help!

IPad 2 running latest firmware. In Mail it keeps crashing in the middle of writing emails. I've tried deleting mail accounts and re-adding, restoring the software, identifying and deleting "undeliverable" emails and the problem remains Driving me in insane since email is one of my main usages of my iPad. Does anyone have a solution to this??

Normally I would suggest doing a Reset but since you have done a Restore then I would have thought that this would have incorporated a Reset. Nevertheless, try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release], just in case!

  • IPad mail crashes

I just updated my iPad 3 to iOS 6.3.1 and my mail crashes every time I try to open it. I messed with the accounts and found that GMAIL is the cause. I have tried powering it on and off, a hard reset, resetting the network settings, deleting the gmail account and then adding it back and nothing has fixed the problem. To make things even worse the iPad can no longer access WiFi as it now says the password is incorrect. iOS 6.3.1 *****. I would advise people not to update. The last thing I will be trying before going to apple is a fresh restore. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • IPad mail crashing all the time

The mail app has been crashing all the time on my iPad. Everytime I open it, it just crashes and goes back to the home screen without loading any of my mail. I am running the latest iOS 8 firmware but on an iPad 2. All my other apps are working perfectly fine but not my mail app. I have tried everything. I tried closing all my apps in the multitasking bar. Also doing that but then hard resetting it with the power and home button but both seem to not work. I have tried to search for how t

    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down together until you see the Apple Logo.
Note: Data will not be affected.
    (B) Close all apps in the multi-task window
    1.Double-click the Home button.
    2. Swipe the app's preview up to close it.
    3. Preview will fly off the screen.

  • IPad Mail Crashing

I have the same problem on iPad and iPhone. When i open mail and connect to POP account, it crashes. I can see mail for a few seconds - there are emails in there from one month ago. Even after i've cleared all emails via webmail, reset my devices, deleted and re added the accounts. Both devices seem to have remembered the old emails - any idea how I can solve this?!

I've found something that seems to cause Mail on the iPad a fair amount of trouble...
My dad has been using his iPad for a month without problems, but over the last few days, Mail has started crashing back to the desktop. It all started happening when he tried to send some photos from the Photos app via email. He clicks on the Forward button, selects the photos, then via email. The emaiI opens up and he adds the recipient and presses send. It takes ages for the mail to send, but we've confirmed that the recipient eventually gets the mail. The next time he tries to access mail, it crashes to the desktop.
I removed his email accounts (POP) and added them back. It worked for a couple of days, then somebody else tried to mail some photos the same way. BAM! Same problem. Crashes to the desktop.
I removed the accounts and added them back as IMAP. Got it all working then just tried to send a photo in the same way. The email sends, but stays in the Outbox. I can't access any of his mailboxes, so nuked them all again and added them back. It's working now, but I'm pretty sure that sending photos via the Photos app on the iPad kills Mail every time. I'm taking it to the Genius bar on Saturday do see if they have any ideas.

  • IPad 2 Crashing, Help!?

    Hi,
I have had my iPad 2 now for a little over a year, so yes my warranty has now expired. If I'm honest I haven't been impressed by what problems I've had, first it was sound randomly dropping out and not coming back until I close the application and quite it. I rang Apple and they said reset it but start as a new iPad from your computer and it should work, which is did.
Now though I have a very annoying and strange problem. For a few months now it will randomly crash and restart, but more recently it has start going wired then crashing and restarting. What it will do is, the screen will go funny like the LCD just broke, lines down the screen etc and then crash and come up with the Apple logo.
What makes this worse is that most of the time the iPad has just been sitting idle, with the screen on of course, it's rarely done it whilst in use.
I don't know whether its a corrupt IOS update or not but its been through about 3 updates since it started so I'm slightly hesitant to say it is. I don't know whether its a mechanical problem or not but whatever it is Apple won't do jack about it no doubt!
Please help as its the most annoying thing ever!
    Thanks

Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • E-mail crash- help please

I have gmail and virgin e-mail accounts on my iPad which have been working without problems for months. I don't know of any reason why but I mow cannot send or receive e-mails from either account? Any ideas welcome. Thanks

Have you tried closing the Mail app completely and then re-opening it ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Mail 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
A third option is try turning the accounts off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'

  • Major Mail Crash with iOS 6 and iPad 2... now a blank Mail screen

I just had a major Mail app crash with iOS 6 on my iPad 2.
I was composing an email with pictures in it and when I got to the point of pasting the forth picture into the email, the Apple Mail app started to get very sluggish and crashed.  Now, every time I open the Mail app, the screen is white (i.e. - without any text on it) and then Mail crashes after about 10-15 seconds.  (BTW - It seemed like the sluggishness got worse as I pasted the last two pictures in.... and the pictures were large sized (at about 750kB each).... so they weren't overly big in size.)
Closing the app, shutting down my iPad 2 and hard resetting my iPad (by holding down both the Home and Power buttons) have no effect on the problem.
This is a very bad situation since I'm traveling for business and was using the iPad for keeping up with email.  Now, I get nothing put a blank screen whenever I try to open the mail app.
Does anyone know of a way to get the Mail app back?
    Thanks.

Facing the same problem on iPad (3rd generation, wifi)
I'm using Gmail and every time I open it, it crash a lot (white screen or scroll down very, very slowly),also can't open or send anymore :(
Facebook is nice but it also crash (even I delete and reinstall several time, it still crash like slow respond or even no respond at all)
The most upset is touch seem crash sometime :( (need to touch two or three times)
Help!!! I don't wanna make myself look down on iOS after this upgrade! I do love the former 5.1.1 (smooth touch and easy mail)

Did you select the Pages app to sync to the iPad? Do you know how to do that or do you auto sync and rely on that only?

  • HT4623 My ipad keeps crashing & now it won't come back on, just comes up to connect to itunes. Did that and tried a restore but just keeps comin up an unknown error, help please, I have so much on my ipad.

My ipad keeps crashing and this time it won't come back on it just keeps telling me to connect to itunes which I did and it just keeps telling me it can't restore this ipad because an error has occured! Really need help please?

If it keeps coming up with an unknown error - no error code given - try another computer. If that doesn't work, it's time to take it to an Apple Store or an authorized service center to have the device evaluated.

  • I just wrote about not being able to send messages on my IPad.Someone responded-thanks-I did what they said and now I have no sent mail category.Help!!!!

I just wrote about not being able to send messages on my IPad.Someone wrote back, thanks, about going to settings, outgoing mail etc. and I did that. Now I have no sent mail category.Help.

When you reset the password, you need to enter the password into the outgoing server setting again. I have reset my email passwords a couple of times and I had to enter the password into the outgoing server setting before I could send mail again.
Did you try that? If you did try it, did you try sending an email? You can send yourself an email to test it.

  • Help! MAIL CRASHING upon launch

I let my automatic updater update my OS X.4.10 (was it .9 before?) system. Now whenever I try to launch Mail, it crashes within a few seconds. I ran my Disk Utility application to verify my disk (not permissions), as posted on another thread. No problems were found. So I reinstalled the update. Same problem. Mail crashes upon launch. HELP!!!

For what type of account - .Mac, IMAP or POP?
You can try to stop the fetching process via the Activity Viewer window but this will not resolve the problem when the fetching process resumes.
Assuming you have webmail access for this account, you can delete some of the messages available at the incoming mail server or if you can create server stored mailboxes for this account via webmail access, transfer a large portion of the messages available in the account's Inbox mailbox to the server stored mailboxes to reduce the number of messages available to be downloaded by Mail.
After the Mail.app download process has completed for a smaller number of messages, you can gradually transfer messages from the server stored mailboxes to the account's Inbox mailbox reducing the number of new messages to be downloaded by the Mail.app at one time.
Over 4000 messages in the account's Inbox mailbox at the server is a good deal of messages. Either this account is an IMAP type account with a large server storage space quota or if a POP type account, the server storage space quota must be large.

  • Ipad mail app quits on launch. Help? Any solutions?

IPad mail app quits on launch. Help? Any solutions?

Try quitting the Mail app like I describe and then reset your iPad. Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. The reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

iPad mail account says problem with 'ssl settings' - can you help me?

The 4Gs hardware, only 256 MB of RAM, prohibits updating beyond 6.1.6.
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.
