IPad mail font

I recall iOS 5 had an option to increase the font size of the mail content but in iOS 6 it seems to have been taken away. I know there's a way to increase font size from the accessibility option but that doesn't apply to email. Any suggestions how I can increase the font in mail? I hate pinching and zooming so much

Settings>General>Accessibility>Large Text >On is the only way to enlarge the font, unless you want to continue to use pinch to zoom. That's all there is. The setting for minimum font size in Mail is no longer included in iOS 6.

  • Can you change the default font in an iPad mail account?

I suspect you can't, but just checking: can you change the default font in an iPad mail account?

There is no way to change the default font in the mail app. You can make the type larger by using the accessibility feature of larger text. Settings>General>Accessibility>Larger Text. There is an app that allows you to add fonts to the iPad, but I do not think this works with the built in iOS apps such as mail.
    You can check it out.

Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • IPad mail crashes

I just updated my iPad 3 to iOS 6.3.1 and my mail crashes every time I try to open it. I messed with the accounts and found that GMAIL is the cause. I have tried powering it on and off, a hard reset, resetting the network settings, deleting the gmail account and then adding it back and nothing has fixed the problem. To make things even worse the iPad can no longer access WiFi as it now says the password is incorrect. iOS 6.3.1 *****. I would advise people not to update. The last thing I will be trying before going to apple is a fresh restore. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • My ipad mail is synced to my iMac mail account. On iPad, I can only see my inbox and sent messages. I can't see any of the folders I have created on my iMac. How do I do that? Probably a dumb question, but I know there's a lot of smart people out there!

My iPad mail is synced to my private email account, which I organise on my iMac. On iPad, I can only see inbox and sent messages folders, not any of the other folders in my email account I have created on my iMac. How do I get iPad to show my other folders? Probably a dumb question, but I know there's a lot of smart people out there.

If you select a mailbox, you should get an Edit button (easier to see in landscape mode). Clicking the button will provide you with check circles for the messages. You also get Delete and Move buttons at the bottom. Check the messages you want to move and then navigate to the mailbox you want to drop them into. I think as long as you can navigate to a mailbox you can move the messages to it.
In the Mac Mail application and probably Outlook on the Windows side, you also setup rules to move messages to specific mailboxes. If the mailboxes are stored on the server, then you can have the sorting done on the server and they should appear that way on the iPad. If your later messages do not show up, you may need to have the iPad app pulled down more messages until they are all showing.

  • Is there a way to set the iPad Mail app to only get email manually, not automatically when the app is opened?

I usually don't use my iPad Mail app to check my email, but sometimes I go into the Mail app just to send a test email or check an attachment in the Sent folder or some such, and every time I enter the app, Mail checks for new email. Which means it ends up downloading five hundred emails or so if I haven't been to the app in a while. Annoying! I haven't been able to find a setting that will stop Mail from checking for new Mail when I go into the app; is there such a setting?

You can turn mail off in the settings but then you can't use it for anything, including the "test" that you want to perform.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Account Name>Mail>Off. That totally turns off the mail account.
As long as mail is turned on and you launch the app, it will look for an download new mail.

  • Is there a way to hide the reading pane in iPad mail after a message is read?

Is there a way to hide the reading pane in iPad mail after a message is read?

Selecting a different email will change what is displayed. Tapping the Home button will take you back to the Home screens. Tapping the power button on the top of the iPad will put it to sleep. Those are pretty much your options.

  • Mail Font formatting of headers goes crazy, Solution?

Shame on me for messing with fonts, but here we go.
After possibly deleting a "standard" font while installing new fonts, most of my Apple-made apps changed fonts. While most are back to normal, Mail is not.
    Screenshot:
    Here's what I've tried:
    - Wiping all user fonts, and replacing both system font folders with known good copies.
    - Disabled all plugins and bundles.
    - On the same computer, swtiched to a "test" account which is a completely defaulted new user account and was created before this problem. Mail worked fine with new account and imported com.apple.mail.
    - Changing Mail font settings in Preferences; this problem is not an option to fix.
    - Replaced Mail itself with a copy from another Mac.
    - Trashed com.apple.mail (after backing it up)
    - Ported com.apple.mail to another Mac with Mail and worked fine.
So my guess is its an issue at the user level. How do you reset the program's fonts, other than the ones in Preferences? What about layout? What hidden folder did I miss?
    Thanks!

The affected font is probably Helvetica. Take a look at the following article:
Font Management in Mac OS X Tiger and Panther
Make sure first that the required fonts are installed in the right places and enabled in Font Book. You may also use Font Book to validate fonts and resolve duplicates. Also, get rid of Helvetica Fractions and Times Phonetic if you have any of those fonts installed.
A simple troubleshooting procedure for this kind of problems is to start up in Safe Mode — see Undoing Font Book.

  • How to select multiple recipients in iPad mail

I have read that I can't create groups, but how to select multiple recipients in iPad mail?
I was looking for this when setting up for two new people who are going to have the iPad as their only device.. and they do need to email a bunch of people at once..
I was sending out the 'I have a new email address' BCC for them.
    Thanks.

You can select multiple contacts by tapping on the + sign in the upper right corner in the To: field when you are typing a new email. Just keep tapping the + sign and your contacts will pop up in a window. Select the contact that you want to add, repeat the process in order to add as many recipients as you want.
There are other mail apps that let you creat groups and email to those groups.

I have an Annotated PDF from Preview will not display annotations in iPad mail, yet, it will display them on my Macbook Air. I confirmed this with another iPad user. Same results. Any ideas.

I had the same issue. iAnnotate PDF will display your annotations made in preview and allow you to annotate on the iPad. It is a great app, I and quite happy with it.

  • Messages located in sub folders do not show in iPad Mail

Using iPad mail with Microsoft Exchange sync works great at the inbox level but any messages that are in sub folders do not show up in Mail on the iPad. All of the sub folders show up but do not show messages. In addition, I am not able to collapse the parent folders, the result is a very long list of empty folders. The exception is emails that I move to the folders on the iPad do show up if the folder is selected on the iPad. Looking for solution.

Has anyone else noticed the following?
I've synchronized with Exchange and am noticing some odd mail behaviour:
    - I have folders in my PC Outlook inbox
    - when I have mail open on my ipad, and a new message comes in, if I happen to be an a subfolder (example a special folder for messages from my boss or whatever) all the new mail goes to that folder instead of the inbox.
    - even weirder, it stays there when I go back to my PC and Outlook.
Not very useful long term since I end up with seriously misfiled mail...
