Ipad mail new password

I've changed my email password and now the mail on my iPad doesn't work, I've tried the new password but it doesn't work, the same happen to my iPhone weeks ago and I got a code to reset it, but I don't remember how I did this......

Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars> and delete the old account.
Then Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars> Add Account.
Thats should put it back to work.

    I'm trying to help a friend set up her new gen 4 iPad. Her old computer will not sync the iPad, so we are doing things via iOS6 and her new Airport Express based network. She uses Time Warner as her ISP.
    In trying to set up Mail, we copied the settings from her computer, but, get an error that the user name or password is incorrect. We're sure the user name is correct, it's the same one she uses everywhere. But, the Password shows 10 digits and we're not sure what it is.
    My questions: Is the password in the Settings>Mail section set by her ISP and could we recover it from them? Or can we somehow reset it ourselves without knowing the original?
    Some of the trouble solving suggestions we've seen include deleting her Mail account on the iPad and setting up a new account with a new password. Is that our last resort? Will we be able to select a new password that will work with TW?

    Maybe the mail setup assistant for iPad will help.  I'm not sure if Time Warner is a big enough carrier to be independently recognized as a standard carrier by this.  But maybe the assistant will help you.

    It was through Gmail.  They blocked an attempt to log in to my acct from Bankok or some place like that.  So...I created  a new password but now cannot get email for my ipad.  Cannot get my ical to recognize my email acct etc.

    My BtYahoo account was "compromised" on the evening of 4th Feb......it affected tablets etc.   As requested by BT Internet I changed my password and did all the other listed checks without finding anything untoward.  I can use my desktop and iphone, but I don't know how to put the new password into my ipad mini.  I tried deleting the old password from mail etc in settings, and putting the new one in, but still can't send mail.  I'm assuming the password is the problem....I'm sure that there must be a correct way of changing it that I haven't discovered.   Help please!   Ariesowl

    I'm not familiar with BtYahoo specifically, but generally speaking, there are two passwords for an email account.  One is for receiving and one is for sending email.  Check Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > [your email account] > [Advanced --- or outgoing mail server]
    ... and look for a password in that area.

    It sounds like you have modified the password settings for your Gmail account after changing the password. Thats where I would have started too. Next I would restart the device and test it one more time, and then remove and add the account again in Settings:
    Get help with Mail on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
    Restart your iOS device.
    Delete the affected email account from your device.
    Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Tap the affected email account.
    Tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.

    I'm sorry you're having issues with your e-mail account on your phone Rusty1112. Let's figure out what's going on. First, please try deleting account/information again and then restart phone. When phone is back on, try adding e-mail account again, and be sure you're entering exactly as you set up, meaning its case-sensitive. If you're still getting same error, please let us know and let us know what e-mail account it is, Yahoo, AOL, MSN, etc.

  • "Catch 22": new e-mail and password on iCloud

    I'm in a "catch 22"-situation.
    Background:
    I am using iCloud on my mac, iPhone and iPad.
    I changed my e-mail address and my password for my iCloud account.
    I deleted the iCloud account on my iPhone and reentered the iCloud account with the new e-mail address and password without problems.
    Problem:
    I want to delete the iCloud account on my iPad as well, but I can't. In order to delete it, I have to type in the password to my previous iCloud account e-mail (which I changed to a new e-mail address). None of the passwords (neither the old one or the new one) works. I only have the option of using the old e-mail address as log on (the e-mail address field is grey and cannot be edited in the log-on pop-up window).
    I have tried to change the e-mail address and password back to the previous status before I made the change, but it doesn't matter. Neither passwords work and I am not able to do anything with the e-mail address in the log-on window.
    It seems that I am caught between a rock and a hard place. I probably should have deleted the iCloud account on my devices (iPhone and iPad) before I changed the e-mail and password for the iCloud account, but I didn't.... As I mentioned, it worked on the iPhone, but it does not work on the iPad.
    Is there anyone capable of helping me out of this "catch 22"? I would be very grateful.

    Go to Settings>Store and sign out of existing account and into the other one.

    I had my iTunes account synced with an old e-mail account. I no longer remeber my password for this account and no longer have access to this e-mail account. I was able to change my information to a new e-mail in iTunes and iCloud with no trouble but my iOS device keeps asking me for the password to my old iTunes account which I can't remember. It defaults the e-mail reset password to the account I can no longer access and also says the date of birth I am entering does not match the records they have... I'm so confused, and I really dont get how my birthday is wrong? When trying to delete the account all together from iOS it asks again for the password...can anyone help me? Thanks!

    Is your phone still signed in with your old iTues ID for iCloud (in Settings>iCloud)?

    I have recently had a problem with one of my hotmail accounts, some sort of virus sending random emails from my address book. Hotmail advised me to delete all contacts and change the password for that account, which I did on my laptop running windows XP. The change was successful and I was able to send and receive emails with no problem. I then had to change the account password on my iPhone 4s, which I did and it too was successful but when I came to change the password on my iMac, running the latest version of Lion it would not recognise the new password. I have tried to remove the account details and re-install but every time I go to add new account my old details are in the box. This is very frustrating as I use my iMac for all my profects and I need to access my email. Please help.

    I had already deleted all reference to the hotmail account in question from the keychain access app, I have also tried to delete and re-instal the account details from within mail. The icon in the side bar dissapears but when I go to Add Account, the old account details are in the new account box. I then input my new password but am told that the server does not recognise it. If I access hotmail via google on the iMac I can get into my account with no problems. I am thinking there must be some other form of security system within the mac software that is blocking the new password. This is driving me nuts. I have been trying to resolve this for the last two days. Thank you for your advise anyway.

    Did you try deleting the mail account, then adding it back?   I've read a lot of times that is what needs to happen in order for it to work properly.

    Copy from old iPad > wireless flash drive > copy to new iPad
