Ipad Mail Screen

When I open an e-mail part of my mail screen has a gray square box over it. How do I fix this?

- Have you tried resetting your iPad:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- What happens when you change orientation?
- Does it will all messages and all accounts?

  • My iPad mail screen is frozen?  The touchscreen is functioning properly in all other programs.

Why is my screen frozen in my mail program on my iPad 2?

Quit the mail app and restart the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • HT201320 I can only find one of the 2 email names on the ipad mail screen

My wife and I both have Aol accounts.  we both can get aol mail on the Ipad.  The problem is only one of our user names shows up on the mail selection screen

Ok, It appears that my wife's email is entitled AOL and my account shows my AOL user name.  I guess what I would like is to rename  the word AOL with her actual user name as it does mine.

  • TS3276 My iPad mail screen has frozen when trying to trash an email

My iPad screen has frozen when trying to trash an email ' this message cannot be moved to mailbox trash ' with an OK button which will not respond to touching . I have gone in and out of mailbox , turned iPad off for 3 hours - all to no avail

You said that you keep getting the error code 1604. Did you try putting the iPad into recovery mode and when the error code appears - close iTunes and restart iTunes while the iPad is connected to your PC?
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for error 1604.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • Using iPad mail program I have a draft of an email. I attempted to "cancel" and "delete draft" but it is still on my screen even after shutting down and restarting. How do I exit so that I can use other mail functions?

Using iPad mail program I have a draft of an email. I have attempted to "cancel" this and "delete draft" but the email stays on my screen. How can I exit this so that I can use other email functions?

Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • TS3899 My iPhone & iPad mail is locked - Press mail app, the screen starts mail, freezes and bounces back to main menu. The fault occurred whilst opening a draft email created in the 'Mail 2 Group' app. Hard reset/reset all/restore backup have no effect -

I installed the Mail 2 Group App on my iPAD, created an email which I saved to the 'Draft' folder, with something over 300 of my contacts in the bcc. On returning to this email, again in my iPad, the screen locked in mail for a few seconds and bounced bak to the main menu. This repeated on my iPhone, on which I have been carrying out my own checks - this includes deleting the Yahoo account, hard reset (red cross and two buttons), restoring a backup and Reset All in settings.
    I'm stuck !!

Sending a message with that many addressees may have required more RAM than was available. You can clean up RAM as follows:
    Double-press the HOME button
Kill each app by flicking its screen image up
When all apps except the Home screen are closed press HOME
Wait about 2 minutes for the shutdowns to finish
Turn the phone off (hold the SLEEP button until "slide to power off" appears, and do so)
    Wait another minute
Turn the phone back on by holding the SLEEP button until an Apple logo appears
Now try to send the mail again. Note that you may have an unrelated problem if this works: Many ISPs (Yahoo included) limit the number of email recipients for a single message as a way to combat spam.

  • On my new iPad 4, all of a sudden the mail screen went to a vertical format and I can't change it back to horizontal.  Help!

The mail screen on my iPad 4 all of a sudden went from the normal horizontal format to a vertical format, and I can't change it back.  Help!

You should really start a new discussion because many times people will not even look at a solved post. It's one thing if you read the post and the solution works for you, but to add onto a solved post, especially when you have a different problem than the original person that posted, you might not get the help that you need.
I will give it a try. Close the iBooks app and reboot the iPad.
Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Ipad mail won't push on lock screen

I have an outlook exchange account and a gmail account on my ipad mail with ios7. My mail doesn't show up while on lock screen and I have that selected in noticiation center. I have to start using my ipad (out of lock screen) to receive my emails. I would like it to work like my iphone. When an email arrives while on lock screen it appears as a notification. I checked all settings and they match that of my ipHone

Each mail account can have different notifications.
Be sure to check each account individually.
Settings > Notification Center > Mail > you should see a list of all your mail accounts, check each one to make sure Show on Lock Screen is on.
Also, make sure Do Not Disturb is off:
Settings > Do Not Disturb > turn off both Manual & Scheduled

  • IPad mail opens with blank white screen and then closes since returning from overseas. Worked fine up until then.

Since returning from overseas my iPad mail does not work. Selecting mail opens a blank white screen which stays open for a short time then closes. No functionality is available during this time. Doing the normal reboots etc does not resolve the problem.

Have you tried to go into the settings, mail, contacts and calendars and removing then re-adding the account info?

  • Is there a way to hide the reading pane in iPad mail after a message is read?

Is there a way to hide the reading pane in iPad mail after a message is read?

Selecting a different email will change what is displayed. Tapping the Home button will take you back to the Home screens. Tapping the power button on the top of the iPad will put it to sleep. Those are pretty much your options.

  • Yahoo! email does not load through ipad Mail app.

I'm using an iPad mini and for about 1 week now the built-in Mail app does not retrieve my Yahoo! email.  When I click on the Mail icon a blank screen comes up -- no error message, no nothing, just a blank screen.  I have to use the browser to access my Yahoo! email.  I have tried deleting and re-establishing my Yahoo! email account.  I have tried re-establishing my network connection.  I have tried restoring my iPad to factory settings.  I have switched my default email account to G-mail and I receive my email just fine through the built-in app.  But Yahoo! is my primary account and I cannot get my email.  This just started in the last week.  Prior to this I have been receiving Yahoo! email just fine through the built-in app for 3 years.  But now nothing.    Also, the mail app recognizes I have new mail because the little red number pops up when new mail arrives.  But in order to retrieve the mail I have to go to the browser, and once the mail is read, the little red number disappears.
I contacted Yahoo! support and they suggested I set up an app password if I use two-step verification.  But I don't use two-step verification.  Then they suggested checking my IMAP settings, but IMAP settings aren't accessible (that I know of) through the iPad mini settings.  So I just re-established the network settings to no avail.
I can't help but think this is a Yahoo! email server issue, but Yahoo! doesn't mention that.
    Someone please help!

Yahoo mail works on my Mac desktop & laptop, plus my iPad 2.

  • IPad 3 screen sluggish

My iPad 3 screen became for no apparent reason almost unresponsive. A character appears 2 seconds after I type it, I can't really scroll etc.
I first tried hard reset, now I restored to factory setting. It did not help. Is this faulty hardware? Thanks.

While it is a possible hardware problem, it is unlikely.  It is more likely the result of too much stuff going on inside the pad.  You said you already did the reset.  Here are some things to try, as screen delay is no fun.
    1. Think about what you are running in the background.  Push e mail, cloud syncing and updates all use processor.  Try turning as much of that stuff off and see if it speeds up.
    2.  Double tap the home button to see the task bar.  Close off any of those recently used programs by touch and hold until they jiggle, then touch the minus sign.   While most of then are nothing more than a list of recently used, some do stay partially active, and many retain some memory.,  ( and your problem is directly tied to memory)
    3.  If this is happening on a word processing document, are you using a native font, or working with something that came in from someone else.  I have noticed the machine gets real slow when trying to edit an imported doc with goofy or non standard fonts.
    4. If you really care,  there is an app called system status.  Among other things, there is a field to show how much processor you are using at any given point in time.  Mine idles at around 6 pct, and as you use certain apps, you can see the usage go up.  You might want to see how hard your pad is working, and figure out what is causing the work load.
    5. When in doubt, do another reboot.  Hold the home and sleep buttons until the apple logo appears.  Ignore the red slider.

  • IPad Mail exchange account configuration problem

I am trying to configure an exchange account using iPad mail. When I input my information and hit next, the iPad dims the screen and says "verifying." Then the iPad stops verifying and the next button is gray and doesn't work. The only option is to cancel. How can I get this account configuration to work?
And I did find this, but it isn't much help:
    support.apple.com/kb/HT1277

I'm having the same problem... and after it hung on verifying for a while it said "Unable to Verify Certificate - the certificate autodiscover.acme.com could not be verified. [Accept/Cancel]" I accepted it, then it asked for the server name (or maybe I just forgot to enter it in the first place). I entered it and now I'm good to go...
