IPad Mini Charger issues

I have four iPad Mini's and two iPhone 5's that use the lighting adapters. Four of those we got at Christmas. Right now, only two of the chargers are working. At first, I thought it was something that my children were doing to mess up the chargers, but mine stopped working in the middle of the night while it was plugged up. It got to about 60% and just quit working.
When I plug one of the lightning chargers to my iPad and plug the USB to the computer, it gives me a message that "One or more of the USB ports have been disabled because a device was using too much power" or something similar.
This is really annoying! The nearest Apple store is 85 miles away, so it isn't easy for me to just take it in to have it checked out. I'd just buy another charger, but I don't want to spend $20-30 if it is just going to break again.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Angie

No, they don't work ANYWHERE. I have tried multiple outlets, different USB plugs (the ones from the older iPads), trying them on each iPad... eveything I can think of. If I take the cord from these chargers and plug it into my iPad using the adapter that I know works, it doesn't work. So, I think it is the cord, the parts that plugs into the wall won't work either.
It didn't happen all at once, they kind of went down one at a time, a plug, a cord, a cord then the plug, until all I have left are the two plugs and two cords.
Can you imagine trying to keep six devices working with two chargers? My kids are going to hurt each other

  • IPad mini charging issues

    Hi,
I would appreciate some advice about my iPad mini. I got it as a birthday present this year in may. Please note I live in a country where they do not have apple stores but they do have authorised resellers.
Two weeks ago my cable broke therefore I couldn't charge it. I opted for a pin adaptor as the old design is much sturdier and paying $50 (local price of original apple) for a dainty lightning cable that breaks so easily is a bit of a scam. Not really looking to pay $500 yearly should the durability of the first cable I got is that of the rest.
The iPad charged fine for three weeks and then got progressively worse; having to wiggle the pin in place to charge. Then it stopped charging all together. I theb bought the adaptor pin. It was charging fine with the adaptor pin at first then as happened before, all of a sudden, started being funny and selecting when it wants to charge randomly. I say randomly because the cable works without the pin adaptor to charge my iPod and I've also tested it around sockets using two other power adaptors and it works fine.
It'll charge for a second then not and continue to charge, fluttering between the two. When I get it to charge by wiggling the pin into place, it seems a connectivity issue is in place, I make sure to leave it be and slowly move away without breaking the connection as this is a rarity and I can finally charge it again.
Although it is not charging my iPad, when I turn it off and place the pin in it automatically turns back on. Still not charging but awake and using battery just to frustrate me some more. I've reset my iPad. I'm out of options and I refuse to buy another cable or adaptor, how is everything breaking so easily when my iPod has had no problems at all in two years.
Is anyone having this problem and if so, have any advice on sorting out this issue? I've not dropped my iPad nor do I swing it around to cause it to be damaged. Is it the fragile chargers or my iPad that holds the problem, or both? Normally, you'd go to the apple store to figure this out but that is not an option for me, the closest apple store is a 1.5 hr plane ride away in a different country. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and helping me out :)

Hi, I have the same problem with my iPad4 mini. It is working fine with no problem, and it is charging too, but it seems to be a connectivity problem as the charging goes on/off and of course, gives a little "beep" when the connection is restored. It charges for about a minute and then goes on and off in repetition with 10 seconds intervall. I have checked the cable and the adapted, and it looks new with no marking or twisting or any sign of faults at all. I use the iPad every day and it does charge, but in the on/off cycles. Very annoying and possibly bad for the battery etc.
Please, any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

  • IPad Mini Charge issue and Other

Alright so here is the deal, A couple of months ago, my apple lightning charge cord was ruined. I have had my iPad Mini for over a year now, so its not like I got it yesterday. I had not had a problem with it with the exception that sometimes videos play the audio normally but the display is like one frame per five seconds. That's besides the point, this morning when I woke up, the battery was at 9% and of course I plugged it in to charge. When I plugged it in, no ding noise to inform me its charging, no little lightning bold near the battery, nothing. nada. zip. I was just about to flip my lid, (Because this is a new charger and no where near as used as the previous) I decided to proceed to my moms room and grab her iPad mini and connect it to my charger. Low and behold, it began to charge. So, I decided, "Ok well maybe there is a connection issue." I took My iPad into her room and connected my iPad to her charger. IT began to charge.
This is extremely annoying, and I decided to connect my iPad to my computer with her cord, to grab my photos. Thinking ahead of time, to say worst case scenario that I would have to restore it or something. Alright, so I was hesitant to connect my iPad mini to my computer since last time, it put a ungodly amount of apps I had not used since three years ago and since then deleted (From my iPod Touch) along with several photos. After this had happened I had deleted the apps, but when I went to delete the photos it would not allow it. I would select and it would not give me the option to delete. Since, I did connect it to the itunes in my computer it did some funky stuff and then when it asked to back up i said "sure back it up from cloud." Cause why not right. It got about halfway through before it said "Oh there is a problem with your crap." To which I reply "Dude come onnn of all days! I just want to relax and listen to music cause I just upchucked twice and dont feel good." The iPad mini didn't care.
All joking aside, I've come to the conclusion that there is something a little more wrong with my device other than it wont charge with the charger I had just bought it, even though it had been charging with it for the last couple of months.

my laptop and my mobile is working, why not ipad mini .......sometimes the name of wifi appers and when i try to enter password of the wifi ,it says sorry unable to join the network ......what is the simple and best solution for this

Can I use my iPhone 5c charger for my iPad mini

    Hi 50mike,

iPhone, iPad, iPod: Using iPad Power Adapters
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4327
You can use the iPad mini charger to charge the iPhone 5C, but not recommended the other way around.
The article below explains that the iPhone charger is meant to charge only iPhones and 1st generation iPad mini.
    iPad: Charging the battery
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4060
To charge your iPad battery, try one of these:
Connect iPad to a power outlet using the included cable and USB power adapter (use the table below to determine which adapter is intended for your iPad.)
Connect to a high-power USB 2.0 port using the included cable.
Note: Some USB 2.0 ports and accessories do not provide enough power to charge iPad. When this occurs the message "Not Charging" appears in the status bar next to the battery icon.
I hope this information helps ....
    Happy Holidays!

  • IPad Mini Charger not Working

My iPad Mini charger for a long time now has had this fat inflated bit at the end of the wire (where it connects to the iPad) and now suddenly it has stopped working and I think because of that.

  • My iPad mini charger isn't working

My iPad mini charger isn't working. I don't know what happened. it goes off and on sometimes. I use it constantly and now it just seems to not work. What should I do?

Hi Only if I need help,
Is your iPad Mini still within the 1 year Warranty period, and is the charger the one that came with it? If so, then you can go to any Apple Store and have the Charger replaced. It is also under the warranty.
    Cheers,

  • Ipad mini charger getting very hot

ipad mini charger getting very hot. Not the ipad. What is it? A problem, or normal?

Warm is normal. Too hot to handle, literally, is not. So if you can hold it, then it's probably fine. Mine gets hot when it's charging. But if it's too hot for you to hold then you should stop using it and get it checked out an apple store.

  • Is it ok to use my ipad mini charger on my iphone 5?

I just got a new iphone 5 and i was wondering if it is ok to use my ipad mini charger on my new iphone 5 because i want to save the new charger that came in the iphone's box until i actually need to use it.

    Yes, that will be fine.

  • Why does ipad mini charge to 90% and stop charging?

Even with overnight charge, my ipad mini charges to max 90%. Sometimes, it gets to 100% but its rare. Is it a bug. Should I upgrade IOS or something.

I got the similar problem before and  hope the following can help.
One day night, I suddenly decided to use the charger of my iPhone 3GS to charge my problematic new iPad Mini that has 90% charging problem. It has the same appearance and same output (5V , 1A) as the charger came with my new iPad Mini. Strangely, I found it worked and could fully (100%) charge my iPad Mini at one go when I waked up next early morning. I guess the 90% charge problem is probably due to some problematic chargers instead of iPad Mini.
As it takes time to spend the battery power and charge another times using different chargers to prove whether the problem is due to the charger, I don't know if my finding is a real solution. I hope any one, if meets the problem, can try himself/herself by using another charger (say from iPhone 3 or 4 or even from another iPad Mini) to see if the problem is really from charger.
I hope that your result can be shared with me.
If at the end the problem is proved from individual charger, replace it to solve.

  • Can you tell me which iPhone/iPad mini charging adapter charges more quickly - traveling in Italy. Thanks.

Can you tell me which iPhone/iPad mini charging adapter charges more quickly?  Traveling in Italy.  Thanks.

You will need a 12 watt adaptor for the iPad Mini, so use the one that came with it. The phone can be charged from the same adaptor. Charging speed should be the same although everything in Italy runs slower.
You will need a wall outlet plug adaptor.

  • Ipad mini charging question

    dear all:
my charger for ipad mini was damaged, can i use my iphone 4 charger for my ipad mini before i have new charger for it?
    thanks

Both the iPad mini charger and iPhone charger are rated at 5W, and are the same. If you get a new charger for the mini, get the iPad 4 charger rated at 12W. It will charge both your iPad and iPhone faster.

  • My iPad mini charger works but my iPad mini refuses to charge. What do I do?

My iPad mini charger works but my iPad mini refuses to charge. What do I do?

    Try a different cable
Try to clean out the 30-pin/Lightning port on the device using a clean toothbrush (or similar) & blow it out. There may be dust/lint preventing proper electrical connection. The older 30-pin port is much more prone to dust & lint getting inside and it's internal conductors are very small. Clean the port out thoroughly and also the 30-pin connector on the cable.
Don't charge using the USB ports on the PC. Most PC's USB ports do not supply enough current to properly charge your device. A USB port (or the iPhone's charger) supplies 5 watts of charging current. The iPad Air's charger supplies 12 watts of charging current. Trying to charge your iPad with your PC's USB ports or the iPhone's 5 watt charger is like trying to fill a water bucket (iPad's battery) with a little toy squirt gun (PC's USB ports or iPhone 5 watt charger).
Instead, use the charger that came with the device and the cable that came with the device.

  • TS2634 ipad mini charging problem

I have bought a new ipad mini at the Singapore Airport duty free Apple Shop outlet in mid Feb 2013.  I usually charge the ipad mini once the battery is exhausted.
now i have faced the problem of charging this ipad mini as it was almost 8 hours, the battery still under charging. Pleas advice.
    hee peow

Some mini users have reported that the charging stops between 85-90%. If this happens, unplug the charger and then replug. It should resume charging to 100%.
    FYI
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. is there a software bug , hardware bug or it is ipad mini problem ?  because i heard more than 3 of 4 my friends using this ipad mini occur same problem ... please fix it or change the new one ... thanks .....

This is an iPad user to user forum. Apple doesn't read or respond.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
Or - Recalibrate the battery. See link below.
