Ipad Mini Connection Issues on 2.4Ghz

My Ipad Mini seemed to be working fine across all wifi networks for the first week or so, but recently I've found it either won't connect at all or stay connected for long on networks running 2.4Ghz routers.
I called Apple support and took it into the Apple store, but they weren't able to tell what was wrong because it connected to their wifi right away.
I'm convinced it has to be an issue specific to 2.4gHz networks.
I have no problems with wifi connectivity on my parent's 5g network, but if I attempt to switch to the 2.4ghz I get the same "Unable to connect error" that I recieve from all the other places I'm having problems. I've read conflicting reports about what is causing this issue, but I'm just about ready to give up on this thing and take it back.
Anyone else having this problem or know of a solution?

I have had the same problem with the mini ( no connectivity on 2.4 ghz, but OK on 5.0 ghz) and convinced the folks at the Apple store to replace it. The Apple store network in this area is only 5.0 ghz, and I had to use the adjoining 2.4 ghz department store network to convince them that the mini radio was at fault. We have five ipads in the family, and the mini is the only unit to display this problem. It  appears to be a hardware fault, but all the advice on this forum relates to software resetting of various forms and that did not solve the problem for me. Try the Apple store again, as replacement may be the only answer.

Will the iPad Mini connect Via WiFi to a LinkSys Wireless G Braodband Router?
The model is WRT54G V5, SN CDFBOE865514 and Firmware is the latest 1.02.8 dated 5 Oct 2009
My wife's iPad 2 connects to it well but we have been unable to connect the new iPad Mini to it.
I have read in some of your notes that the Mini will only connect to Firmware 1.02.8n.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

  • IPad Mini Syncing Issues

I have an iPad mini with retina display, yesterday I wanted to add some music to my iPad, I've had an iPod before so I think I am reasonably experienced with syncing using iTunes. After launching iTunes it recommended me to update to 11.1, I did so and then rebooted my laptop. Once I had logged back in again I launched iTunes. I plugged in my iPad expecting iTunes with a small bit of delay detect my device and then I would begin syncing. However after waiting a few minutes a window eventually popped up saying it was unable to connect to my device as it had "timed out". I am currently using a Home Share to listen to my music but it's a pain as I have to always have iTunes on.
Are there any tips out there that can resolve this issue???

    Hey, try the steps below:
    1. Quit iTunes.
    2. Open Finder, and go to wherever your iPhoto library is stored (usually ~/Pictures).
    3. Right-click on the iPhoto Library and select “Show package contents”
    4. Delete the “iPod Photo Cache” folder
    5. Close the finder window
    6. Open iPhoto. It might take some time for it to reload the library, but it’s ok.
    7. When iPhoto finishes loading the library and you can browse your photos, close iPhoto
    8. Open iTunes, goto your device’s Photo tab, and make shure the Sync photos options is UNCHECKED
    9. Sync your device
    10. After the sync finishes, CHECK the sync photo option. It will ask if the photos already in the device should be overwritten. I anserwered yes
    11. Select which photos, events, albums or faces you want to sync,
12.- Sync your device again, and it should do it, including your photos

  • IPad mini wifi issues

    hey guys.
hopefully someone can help me out here. I have an iPad mini that I've had for a year now. Up until about 3 months ago everything was working fine,  now for some reason my iPad intermittently disconnects from wifi while streaming.
a little about my situation. My only source of internet is via my cell phones mobile hotspot. (Droid bionic) The only time I have issues with the wifi connection is when I'm trying to steam video Via netflix, html5, dolphin browser etc.  only video stream that doesn't seem affected is youtube.
now I've been searching online since this started happening and have come under the impression that this is a common issue hat no one seems to know how to fix. Is that true? I've done all the quick fixes ie: turn off wifi, turn off Bluetooth, reset hotspot settings etc. etc.
the only way I can get wifi to reconnect is if I manually go into settings turn off wifi and turn it back on. (On ipad)
ive ive gone as far as doing a hard reset on my phone thinking that was the problem.  All to no avail.  I also operTe my lapto off my phone so I know the connection there works just fine.
Does  anyone know of a fix for this? It's kind of a pain but recently it has been happening more and more frequently and is starting to get rather obnoxious.
please let me know if you know how to take care of this. Thanks!

This is a widespread problem with the Mini but don't get misdirected into thinking that it's a router issue.
    it isn't.
Apple don't appear to be taking ownership of this issue as it would open the floodgates and impact on:
    1. The brand
    2. The bottom line
so we are stuck looking at some spurious solutions, many of which are red herrings.
if Apple could supply a patch to fix this problem that would make sense but this is above my pay grade.
II'm sure you have, but google this again and you'll see the scale of user disenfranchisement over this problem!

  • ITunes and iPad Mini connectivity

I just got an iPad Mini and I really like it.  However, I'm having a problem with it and iTunes.
    1.  If I connect it to a USB hub connected to my iMac, iTunes shows it as a device.
I have it set up to sync over wifi just as I've done with a 3rd Generation iPad.
    2.  If I connect the Mini to the charging adapter that came with it and plug that into an outlet next to my iMac, it lists it as a device and works fine
    3.  If I connect it to the same charging adapter at the other end of the house, it does not show up in iTunes
From Terminal I am able to ping the iPad Mini via the household Wifi.  iTunes does not connect to it.
I like to put the iPad on a charger near my bed so I don't have to trek through the length of the house when I'm finished for the night.  My iPad 3rd Gen works fine like this as does my iPhone 4S. In all cases the device is connected to a charging adapter using the USB to the correct connector (30 pin except for the Mini is by the lightening connector).
    What might be the problem?
BTW, I can see the sidebar.  The iPad 3rd Gen and the iPhone 4s show up under devices there when on the charger.  iPad Mini shows up if connect to computer via USB cable but not if only on a charger.  All three devices are set up to sync via WiFi.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

    Hello thre bkitchin,
I was looking through our resources about what may be going on in this situtation and think I have an article that may help you out. It is called iTunes 10.5 and later: Troubleshooting iTunes Wi-Fi Syncing found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4062.
I would recommend starting at step three, as the first 2 are already taken care of, and work your way down from there.
    3. Quit and reopen iTunes and restart your iOS device
If connectivity issues persist, quit and reopen iTunes on your computer. Then, restart your iOS device.
It's conceivable you may have to restore the iPad mini, the process is found in the article iTunes: Restoring iOS software found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414.

  • Brand New iPad Mini WiFi ISSUES

So I bought my iPad Mini 32gb a week ago and I've been using it eversince with my house's wifi. I recently updated it to iOS 6.1.3 and a couple of days after I started having WiFi issues. So I connect to my wifi and use it as usual, but after 5 minutes of using it the internet stops working eventhough it still shows the 3 bars of internet on the top left corner next to iPad. To fix this I have to turn off my iPad every time. I am trying to see if there is a solution or if I will have to send it to the apple repair center or change it for a new one for 40 bucks. I really need internet on it so please help. ( IT IS URGENT.)

  • IPad Mini - Printing issues via AirPrint

We have two iPad minis at home, we have a Air Print compatible HP 3525 e-All-in-One.. Both the iPad minis are the same generation using the same iOS version 7.0.6 From one iPad mini I can print on the above airprint from the Notes app. However, from the other iPad mini I am not able to print to the same printer. So did the following checks
    a. both iPad connected to the same wireless network and they show equal signal strength and can browse the internet.
    b. both the ipad minis are connected to the 2.4Ghz network & so is the above printer.
    c. did the customary - forget network & reconnected to the network
    d. switched off the ipad (cold boot) and switched on.
Yet, if I print a document from one to the above printer it works in one & does not work from the other iPad.
Finally, used my IE experience with printing problems - then cleared the cookies, cache and web history - then it started to print again. I have to see if this is consistent - but was amused by the behavior.
Any thoughts, is there something else should I check ?

I found the print function when I touched the REPLY icon. (So NOT intuitive!!)   It then asked what printer I wanted to use.  And it worked...finally.

  • IPad mini charging issues

    Hi,
I would appreciate some advice about my iPad mini. I got it as a birthday present this year in may. Please note I live in a country where they do not have apple stores but they do have authorised resellers.
Two weeks ago my cable broke therefore I couldn't charge it. I opted for a pin adaptor as the old design is much sturdier and paying $50 (local price of original apple) for a dainty lightning cable that breaks so easily is a bit of a scam. Not really looking to pay $500 yearly should the durability of the first cable I got is that of the rest.
The iPad charged fine for three weeks and then got progressively worse; having to wiggle the pin in place to charge. Then it stopped charging all together. I theb bought the adaptor pin. It was charging fine with the adaptor pin at first then as happened before, all of a sudden, started being funny and selecting when it wants to charge randomly. I say randomly because the cable works without the pin adaptor to charge my iPod and I've also tested it around sockets using two other power adaptors and it works fine.
It'll charge for a second then not and continue to charge, fluttering between the two. When I get it to charge by wiggling the pin into place, it seems a connectivity issue is in place, I make sure to leave it be and slowly move away without breaking the connection as this is a rarity and I can finally charge it again.
Although it is not charging my iPad, when I turn it off and place the pin in it automatically turns back on. Still not charging but awake and using battery just to frustrate me some more. I've reset my iPad. I'm out of options and I refuse to buy another cable or adaptor, how is everything breaking so easily when my iPod has had no problems at all in two years.
Is anyone having this problem and if so, have any advice on sorting out this issue? I've not dropped my iPad nor do I swing it around to cause it to be damaged. Is it the fragile chargers or my iPad that holds the problem, or both? Normally, you'd go to the apple store to figure this out but that is not an option for me, the closest apple store is a 1.5 hr plane ride away in a different country. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and helping me out :)

Hi, I have the same problem with my iPad4 mini. It is working fine with no problem, and it is charging too, but it seems to be a connectivity problem as the charging goes on/off and of course, gives a little "beep" when the connection is restored. It charges for about a minute and then goes on and off in repetition with 10 seconds intervall. I have checked the cable and the adapted, and it looks new with no marking or twisting or any sign of faults at all. I use the iPad every day and it does charge, but in the on/off cycles. Very annoying and possibly bad for the battery etc.
Please, any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

  • IPad mini sound issues

The sound in my iPad mini has gone noisy after I updated to iOS 7.0.2. Is there n issue to solve this? Anyone else facing the same problem?

There is NO NEED to reset settings nether restore the iPad.
There are some possibilities for sound problems - most of them are really simple:
    http://youtu.be/SDf1LDcE95Q
    (1min 36sec)
    It covers the basics:
    checking side-switch / mute / "Control Center"
    volume all up
    ...and also the worst cases:
closing all apps (for rare cases when a single app might render the sound system instable)
    rebooting the iPad
So, don't get desparete: try the things in the video.
There are people who reported having forgotten an audio-bluetooth connection activated with a turned-off sound-system or speakers... or forgot Air-Play turned on... so be sure you disengage bluetooth and/or airplay.
On the 'hardware side', dirty dock connector (30 pin) can make the iPad 'think' it is connected to external audio - if so, cleaning it with a dry toothbrush can fix. Also, moisture in the headphones connector can make the iPad switch to 'headphones' even without headphones connected, making it silent: check if you can hear things with headphones plugged in - if so, try gently inserting and removing headphones a few times and check if you get sound back to iPad's speakers alone.

  • Ipad mini storage issues!!!

I use an ipad mini, it has 16gb of storage. I have not used even 1 gb of it yet, and yet it is telling me i have used 10gb and only have 2gb left???
I don't know why it is doing this. I don't download movies, i buy them, leave them in the icloud, then when i want to watch them i stream them from straight from my icloud, but everytime i do so my storage shrinks and won't reset or go back up. Please help!! The nearest Apple store is an 1.5 hour's train ride from here and that's gonna cost me nearly £40

I had a similar issue with a phantom movie taking up space.  In my case, the solution was a "Restore."
Note that it could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.

  • IPad Mini connected to home network but still not connecting to internet.

Hi. I have a friend staying and she has an iPad mini. while all other Mac devises are connected to our home internet, her one will not. I have set the network details on her mini using the static ip option and get the blue tick beside our network name. However, we are still not connected to the wifi network. All our Mac devises are connected and her husband's iPad and iPhone are working fine. Help

    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
    http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • IPad Mini Charge issue and Other

Alright so here is the deal, A couple of months ago, my apple lightning charge cord was ruined. I have had my iPad Mini for over a year now, so its not like I got it yesterday. I had not had a problem with it with the exception that sometimes videos play the audio normally but the display is like one frame per five seconds. That's besides the point, this morning when I woke up, the battery was at 9% and of course I plugged it in to charge. When I plugged it in, no ding noise to inform me its charging, no little lightning bold near the battery, nothing. nada. zip. I was just about to flip my lid, (Because this is a new charger and no where near as used as the previous) I decided to proceed to my moms room and grab her iPad mini and connect it to my charger. Low and behold, it began to charge. So, I decided, "Ok well maybe there is a connection issue." I took My iPad into her room and connected my iPad to her charger. IT began to charge.
This is extremely annoying, and I decided to connect my iPad to my computer with her cord, to grab my photos. Thinking ahead of time, to say worst case scenario that I would have to restore it or something. Alright, so I was hesitant to connect my iPad mini to my computer since last time, it put a ungodly amount of apps I had not used since three years ago and since then deleted (From my iPod Touch) along with several photos. After this had happened I had deleted the apps, but when I went to delete the photos it would not allow it. I would select and it would not give me the option to delete. Since, I did connect it to the itunes in my computer it did some funky stuff and then when it asked to back up i said "sure back it up from cloud." Cause why not right. It got about halfway through before it said "Oh there is a problem with your crap." To which I reply "Dude come onnn of all days! I just want to relax and listen to music cause I just upchucked twice and dont feel good." The iPad mini didn't care.
All joking aside, I've come to the conclusion that there is something a little more wrong with my device other than it wont charge with the charger I had just bought it, even though it had been charging with it for the last couple of months.

my laptop and my mobile is working, why not ipad mini .......sometimes the name of wifi appers and when i try to enter password of the wifi ,it says sorry unable to join the network ......what is the simple and best solution for this

  • Ipad mini syncing issues with itunes : (x) items could not be synced

I'm using ipad mini (non retina) 16GB with itunes 11.2.2.3. I had downloaded some games from itunes like asphalt 8, GT racing 2, infinity blade, real racing 3, dead trigger 2, and apps like garageband. When i tried to sync these games with my ipad. everything happened normally like
syncing apps to 'superhornet's ipad' (step 6 of 6)
    copying 1 of 8: asphalt 8
    and later 'finished syncing'
but after syncing is finished on itunes. A message appears on the ipad saying '14 items could not be synced. see itunes for more information'
there is no message in the itunes that would tell what issue happened here.
Due to this, the games i mentioned above does not get installed on my ipad. all i get is their greyed out icons which shows their name below them, when i touch any of those greyed icons they start showing 'installing' which never really completes.
I have also tried to install apps by ifunbox, but it showed some error when i tried to sync those games.
This issue doesn't happen with all the games. I had also downloaded games like 'the sandbox, ACR drift, shadow gun and they were installed without any issues.
I had never played any game on my ipad. so far i had only used it as an ebook reader, video player and internet browser. so i have no idea if this problem existed before.
and yes my computer is authorized, and i successfully sync all videos, music, ebooks with it.
    my PC's specs:
    AMD phenom II X4 B25
    4GB RAM DDR3 133MHz
    AMD radeon HD6770 1GB GDDR5
    Gigabyte GA78LMT-S2P
my ipad is running iOS 7.1
and itunes version is 11.2.2.3 (updated yesterday expecting it would solve the issues)
I would appreciate if anyone could help me with this

Found another thread with a few possible solutions. The one that worked for me was to delete the ipod photo cache in the "Pictures" folder. Here's the thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3390697
