IPad mini continues to restart

My iPad mini keeps restarting.  A weird thing will happen before it restarts, the screen will go black slowly.  There is a cascading . like all the pixels are disappearing one by one.

Hi there B_Cavin,
You may want to try some of the troubleshooting steps outlines below. Note: While the article is written for the iPhone, many of the same steps apply to the iPad

Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • IPad Mini is still restarting itself

I have been experiencing problems with my  iPad Mini for the past few weeks.
It keeps going off and then back to the Apple start-up logo and rebooting itself. I have tried several different options, such as Erasing the Settings, forcing a restart (Home + Off Button), and I have reset the iOS via my iTunes.
Nothing has solved this problem and today I can barely use my iPad because it is getting itself stuck in a restart loop where it won't even make it to the home screen.
Is there anything else I can try before I take it to Apple themselves?

The only problem is tha it wasn't bought from Apple itself. I have a 2 year guarantee on it though from the other store, but it's only basic cover that was with it, I am hoping this is covered under it. My iPad is only about 6 months old and has never been dropped once, or had any damage done to it. It just developed this problem one day while using it.

  • IPad Mini Retina keeps restarting

I have a brand new iPad Mini Retina and every so often (at least once a day) I can be in any app and when I select an action the screen reverts to the white start up screen with the black apple logo.
Is anyone else having problems with the iPad restarting like this?
What can I do to fix it?

Mac Rumors about the release of the new iOS 7.1 Beta 4:
"We are told there are various fixes in this latest version, including fixing keyboard issues, problems with the contacts app, more changes to the phone UI, and other changes. We have heard from sources that with iOS 7.1, Apple is working very hard to address some large memory bugs and other issues in iOS 7 that have caused crashes and restarts for a lot of people. Additionally, iOS 7.1 should help unify iOS 7 better graphically, with various user interface updates across the entire system and in apps for a more cohesive feel."

  • Why does my ipad mini keep restarting itself?

I bought an ipad mini in Feb, 2013 and until 2 weeks ago it has been working like a charm. Now my ipad mini  restarts on its own without my consent. I have witnessed it restart when i have been reading books from ibooks, when opening programs, when listening to music and a few times when it hasn't been in use just sitting on the bench in screen saver mode. Yesterday i plugged the mini into my laptop and determined that i am currently using the most up to date software and that ensured i had saved a back up on the icoud and my computer. Finally i went trhough itunes to restore my ipad to is factory settings. This was completed this morning without a glitch only to find some 10 hours later my ipad is continueing to restart without any warning. Help!!

  • Ipad mini constantly restart by its own

The screen suddenly displays some black strip then shut down and restart, happens often with some tap and sometimes on its own. The issue starts to constantly happen ever since one time when the device shut down by out of battery. Any help to resolve this issue? This happens about 10 times a day and really gets me frustrated.

  • IPad mini self locking

My iPad mini continues to lock itself (have settings set to never lock).  I have reset the device, but it still happens. What should I do now?

I do have a keyboard, but when it is locking itself, the keyboard is always off. I have reset the iPad and have wiped it clean and started over, but the locking issue is still occurring.

  • How can I salvage an iPad Mini that will not restart, reset or respond to Recover phase via iTunes and is not responding to any functions and will not access Home? Thanks

I have an iPad mini that will not respond and is non functional.  It continues to intermittently try to automatically restart, access home page without success.  It will not accept normal charge. I have tried to manually restart, reset and have been unsuccessful.  It will not allow a Recover attempt via iTunes as well.  Do you have any suggestions before I consider a replacement?  Thanks.

    Hello RC MD,
It seems you are unable to restore your iPad to factory settings, and it is not responding to power. Based on the information you have provided, it appears your iPad may need to be serviced. The following link should help you get started with the process and has links with additional information on topics such as warranty and service pricing, battery replacement, and express replacement service.

  • My iPad mini keeps restarting randomly all the time

My iPad mini keeps restarting randomly all the time, I already restored it to manufacturer settings, help! This started about a week ago, and I can't take it to Apple because I got this Christmas 2012. I already reset it all, and it still keeps restarting.

I had the same problem.  I ended up restoring to the factory settings using the method:
    1. connect usb to computer
    2. hold down home button and connect cord to ipad...continue holding down home key until connect to itunes appears on screen, then release
    3. restore to factory settings
I lost all my pictures and data, but the ipad works again. Such a pain! Not happy about this at all!

  • IPad mini keeps restarting

My ipad mini keeps restarting ever since I've installed the new update. Does anyone have any simple ideas to make this incredibly annoying problem stop?

    Try a device reset:
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

  • Installed latest iOS on my iPad mini, it got stuck while restarting after update. It is still in that stage even after 7 hours.

installed latest iOS on my iPad mini, it got stuck while restarting after update. It is still in that stage even after 7 hours.

Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.
