Ipad Mini cracked in the car during a cold day in Canada

Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to look at this question. My Ipad Mini is about six months old and it recently has cracked. There are two hairline cracks on the top right and bottom left of the screen. No one has dropped it, and it has never been roughly used. The screen is fully functional, but those cracks are about two inches long. The only thing I can come up with is that it probably cracked in the car or while carrying it in my bag due to the extreme cold that my area has been experiences. It has six months left on the warranty, but I don't have Applecare. Will apple replace my product? I've never had anything crack because of the cold, so it might be a weird case to explain. I want to walk into an apple store, but I thought I'd ask the community if anyone has had any of the same problems as me. Thanks again

You are going to have to take it into Apple so they can examine it. Only they can tell whether or not it will be replaced.

No. Damage caused by the user is not covered by warranty. A replacement iPad mini is $219 for the 1st generation, or $249 for the iPad mini with Retina display.

I have purchased a iPad mini online from the Apple store. Since day one I had 2 issues with it. First is that the battery life doesn't last more than 5-6h active usage, and the second one is with the wi-fi. It works properly but after I leave it for a while in sleep mode and try to reuse it, it doesn't want to open a web page or app store or mail (anything connected with the internet search) but it shows that is properly connected with my home network. So I have to turn off the wi-fi connection and turn it on again so it start to work properly. After couple off days this becomed very annoying so I contacted the support via phone and they gave me instructions for return it and that I'll receive a new one without aditional fee. I get the second device in the predicted time but again I have the same issues with the wi-fi and battery life. I will be pleased if someone from the Apple expert team explaine to me what should I do, because I dont find it for normal what is happening. On the Apple official site under the specifications for iPad mini it says that the battery lasts for at least 10h and the wi-fi problem isn't mentioned anywhere. Thanks in advance.

If you want someone from Apple to explain what you should do make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one near you and take your iPad there and talk to Apple. If no Apple store is close enough then call Apple to find out what your alternatives are. There is a Contact Info link at the bottom of every page in this forum.

There is no such thing as a one time guarantee. Most of those stories are urban legend.
If you can somehow prove that the screen cracked due to a fault in the manufacting process, then it would be covered under the warranty. That will be pretty tough to prove, however.

I am not familiar with Citrix Reciever but is it possible it is open or being used in another open app?
Try quitting all apps then try again.
Quit all apps: Double tap the Home button and swipe the app preview page up for each open app

I've been unable to locate an app that will do this. The Photos app that comes with the phone or iPad has extremely limited duration controls. PhotoStream seems to load everything from my phone or iPad not allowing me to just load up a set group of images.
iPhoto for iPad is getting some terrible recent reviews. I tried a couple other free apps but they don't use Airplay.
I can do something like this with iPhoto and my MB Air, but it's kind of ugly to have the computer open in order to connect by Airplay to my Apple TV. I've thought the iPad or iPhone would be a lower profile controller.
Am I out of luck?

Thanks for your help. Since I'm uninterested in loading all my photos (the only option) into photostream, I won't be able to use the settings in ATV. I guess I'm just stuck with using iPhoto on my MB Air. Thanks again.

You should configure the ipad to factory settings and set up as 'new'
settings/general/reset/erase all content and settings

I am wondering because I am thinking of buying a new ipad mini retina but the case I like the most is only the original ipad mini. So will the small thickness increase make it not useable.
I know about the microphone issue on the retina ( there is also one one the back where as there was not one on the back of the ipad mini original.

For sure? No. Seeing as how no one has seen a new mini in person. However checking the specs there is a .3 millimeter size difference, there shouldn't be a huge issue.

I'm a bit lost - you first say

then you say

In the first statement, aren't you using an SD card in the camera? And what do you mean by "unused SD card"? Cameras put their files in specific folders on a card, and your device only reads photos and video from those folders, not from anywhere else on the card.

Check settings an make sure FaceTime is turned on and addresses are configured (Settings app > FaceTime)
Check all of your home screens and folders. It could have been inadvertantly moved (you can also use Spotlight search to check fior it: Swipe down form the home screen. This will also let you know it it is in a folder)

Try this:
1. Close all inactive apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple Logo.
