IPad Mini Doesn't Feel Elderly Person's Touch / Taps

I gave my Mother an iPad Mini for Christmas.  She has a hard time getting it to respond to her taps on the screen.  I can use it with no problem, and it tends to feel her swipes and pinches, but quite often will not feel her tap on things.   She has tried both tapping hard (not really necessary) and very softly, and tap and tap and tap on a button with no result.  She is 79 years old and has arthritis.  She thinks maybe the skin on her fingers is too thin, but that shouldn't affect the capacitive screen.  Any ideas, tips or tricks to help her out?

Get her a stylus? it may be an issue with her circulation and her fingers simply not having enough life in them to work the capacitive screen. A stylus may help with that. I have a couple of Targus ones, but there are others. You just want to make sure they are for capacitive screens, not resistive.

I'd maybe try doing a search for Safari on your iPad first (swipe to the left to search). If it shows up in that search you can go to Settings > General > Reset and choose 'reset home screen layout' which will put it back where it would be by default.
    All else fails? Restore it.

  • My iPad mini doesn't charge sometimes, and if it charges it only can charge to 92% then stops.

At most time, my iPad mini doesn't charge at all. I have searched the problem on Internet, somebody says it is about the temperature, but the weather of the place I live ain't that cold. Once it can charge, it can only charge to 92% everytime. Someone to help me solve it? iOS 6.0.1!

Thanks, I'm use to apple products displaying a electric plug ensuring that it switched to ac mode.

You should configure the ipad to factory settings and set up as 'new'
    settings/general/reset/erase all content and settings

  • With ios 8.3 ipad mini apps sometimes do not respond when touched

a new problem occurred with ios 8.3 ipad mini applications sometimes do not respond when touched Fix it in ios 8.4

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • Can no longer connect iPad Mini 2 to iPhone 6 Personal Hotspot (iOS 8.1.2 on both)

I can no longer connect my iPad Mini 2 w/ iOS 8.1.2 to connect to my iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1.2, Verizon Wireless) running Personal Hotspot. The iPad displays the error "Remote Hotspot Failure - Unable to start personal hotspot "iPhone.  However, my Windows 8.1 laptop connects to the iPhone just fine. The iPad connection problem occurs with or without the Windows laptop connected or even turned on.
Both the iPhone and iPad have Bluetooth and WiFi on, and the iPhone has Hotspot active. The iPad shows the iPhone Personal Hotspot on the WiFi Settings page, but throws the error each time i attempt to connect. Additionally, the iPhone shows 1 Connection on Personal Hotspot even though I have no devices connected. I have reset my network settings twice on both the iPhone and iPad.
BTW - I used to be able to connect the iPad to the Hotspot prior to updating to iOS 8.1.2 on both devices.

Forgetting the hotspot on the iPad sent me in the right direction. I now have it working correctly, and seem to have diagnosed the cause.
The cause seems to be that I had connected the iPad to the Hotspot via Bluetooth. Once I figured out how to delete that link, I was finally able to connect to the Hotspot. Here is what I had to do:
    On the iPhone:
    - Turn on WiFi and Bluetooth
    - Turn on Personal Hotspot and change the Hotspot password (this may not have been necessary, but things are now working)
    On the iPad:
    Reset all network settings:
Settings -> General -> Reset (at bottom of page) -> Reset Network Settings (deletes all known networks and their passwords and restarts the iPad)
Turn on WiFi and Bluetooth (I had found that Bluetooth must be on is necessary in some other research)
DO NOT CONNECT TO THE PERSONAL HOTSPOT USING BLUETOOTH - DON'T GO THERE!
Connect to the Hotspot using WiFi
    Settings ->WiFi
    - Wait until you see "iPhone" under PERSONAL HOTSPOTS (or maybe CHOOSE A NETWORK)
    - Select "iPhone"
    - Enter the (new) password that you set on for the PERSONAL HOTSPOT on the iPhone
You should now be connected via WiFi
Bottom line: Unless you have some VERY compelling reason to connect to the Hotspot via Bluetooth, NEVER do it. WiFi speed is multiples that of Bluetooth. With WiFi using Broadband Speedtest over Verizon LTE - 2 bars/dots - I am consistently getting between 15 and 20 Mb download and 3-15 Mb upload. With Bluteooth using the same test, I was getting about 1 Mb maximum upload and download.
I hope this solves the problem for all reading this thread. And thank you ManSinha for the helpful clue.

  • IPad mini doesn't turn on

My iPad mini stopped working and it doesn't turn on anymore.... i did try to reset it and couple other thinks but nothing is working.. What can i do? Please help!

Did you try the reset in the following way?
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
Is the battery charged? Plug it into the charger and cable that came with the device and allow it to charge for an hour or so, then try to power it back on or perform the reset as indicated above.

  • IPad mini doesn't detect wifi/unable to connect

    Hello,
I've had my iPad mini since March 2014. It's been working perfectly until last Friday, when it suddenly stopped connecting to my home wifi network. Upon closer inspection, I found that the iPad doesn't even detect the home network anymore. I tried all the solutions listed on here: resetting network settings, rebooting, resetting all settings - except a total restore.
At times it started detecting the network but then when I try to connect it says "unable to connect". I tried making a hotspot out of my iPhone 3G and connecting to it with my iPad - also the same thing, unable to connect. I couldn't try any other networks yet.
What should I do next? Could this be a hardware issue? PS: I've never dropped or damaged the iPad in any way, and it was just lying on the day when wifi stopped working.
    Thank you.

  • Keyboard on iPad Mini doesn't work correctly

I have an iPad mini retina display 16GB model ME279B/A
When I type, all is fine using English/UK QWERTY keyboard but when I try to type a ! with the !/, key I get a ' and when I try to type a ? with the ?/. I get a "
How can I rectify this problem please?
This also is not app specific
    tia

The ' and " are alternate selections for those keys. If you press and hold on those keys you will see those choices.
Apparently, when you are typing, you are holding the keys down too long and getting the alternates.

  • Suddenly iPad mini doesn't recognize my wifi

    IPad suddenly doesn't recognize wifi

Try to reboot your ipad? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and try again
You can also try to power cycle your router. Unplug the power to the router, count to ten, plug it back in and let it reboot and try again.

  • IPad mini doesn't recognize my phone number only email

iPad mini lost my phone number. Only text from my email. How do I get it to recognize my phone number again

    Hello Feltongirl93,
The troulbeshooting steps outlined below detail how to get your phone number linked to your Apple ID.
If your phone number isn't listed on an iPod touch or iPad, follow these steps:
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Verify that you're using the same Apple ID that you're using on your iPhone.
On your iPad or iPod touch, sign out of your Apple ID in the following locations:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Sign in to your Apple ID with FaceTime and iMessage.
If your phone number still isn't listed, follow these steps:
Sign out of your Apple ID on all iOS devices, including your iPhone, in the following locations:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Sign in to your Apple ID on your iPhone.
When activation is complete, your Apple ID and all verified email addresses should be visible in Settings > Messages > Receive At and Settings > FaceTime.
Sign in to your Apple ID on your other iOS devices.

  • IPad mini doesn't synch pictures/fotos

    Hi,
all synch processes are working fine. But if I try to synch pictures and select folders out of the "all users" directory, a failure occurs. iTunes is presenting an unknown failure (-50).
The rights on that folder are given to me to read and write.
Are there any similar experiences and how can I solve the problem?
    PhilMo

    Steve,
I think I found the problem.
    The situation is as follows:
    All users
      pictures
        A
        B
        C
        iPod photo cache
On the system exist two different users which want to synch the folders A, B and C with different devices iPad and iPad mini under their accounts. But the fist device created the folder iPod photo cache into "pictures"and this could be the reason hwy the second evice cannot synch the same photos.
May you follow my idea and do you have an answer how can I solve the problem?
    Regards,
    Thomas

  • Newly created passcode to iPad Mini doesn't work!

I recently upgraded my OS software on my iPad mini like I always do when requested.  I created a passcode like it asked me to do.  Today it won't work.  How do I check to see what passcode I created and to verify if what I typed is what I thought I created?  I can't get into my iPad Mini!

  • My ipad mini doesn't respond unless I apply a lot of pressure when I use it. It sometimes takes several hard taps to make it change.

My recently purchased iPad Mini, is slow to respond when I use a stylus. It sometimes takes several hard taps to get it to change. My finger usually works best, but everything is so small, it's hard to select the exact line without a stylus. Are all stylus's round tipped, or can you get pointed ones?

It is clean, but I will try again after it's done charging. I have noticed that I am not the only one that is having this problem, so maybe the stylus I am using is just not working on the iPad mini.
    Thanks for your input though.
