IPad Mini First Generation overheating solution?

i have purchased my IPad mini about a year ago, I have always noticed some heat towards the bottom of the screen around the home button... Is this normal and is there a solution for me to fix it... the heat is too bothersome to use my ipad.. I have never dropped or damaged this ipad at all.

Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

The site lists $219 but that's for out of warranty, which my product is not. Will I get a new iPad mini first generation or will they give me the retina one? Or will they completely replace my iPad screen in 3-5 business days? How does this work..thanks.

The warranty will apply to the country of purchase. And if there is a problem needing repair you have to return it to the country of purchase.

I can log on icloud on pc but when i enter password on my ipad mini first gen with ios8 it tells me wrong password. and i can receive mail but cannot send any mail via icloud, gmail, yahoo never had to set this up with ios7. how do i resolve this?

I updated my ipad mini first gen 32gig (4.3gig free) to run ios8 8.0(12A365) and i have a problem sending emails. i can receive mail but when i send it fails. my dropbox works fine, safari, and other apps work fine on the internet just the receiving of mail. Do i need to add a new outgoing server, though i dont remeber having to do this when i updated to ios7. how do i resolve this?

It doesn't seem to cover your specific issue, but have you tried using a different network (either a different wi-fi network, or switching from wi-fi to cellular or vice-versa if you have a wi-fi+cellular iPad)?
For GMail, iCloud and Yahoo, copies of messages are stored on their respective servers, so you could try deleting the account on your iPad, then re-adding each account one at a time to see if that resolves the issue.

IPad Mini (first gen) won't update to 8.1?

Hi, I have an iPad mini (first gen 16gb with 10gb free space), and it won't update to 8.1.
I've tried doing it through iTunes connected to my Windows 7 laptop and I've tried to do it over wifi and cellular -- it will download, but when it "prepares to update" nothing happens. It just sits and hangs. For hours. It won't stop unless I delete the update off the iPad and force close iTunes.
The screen doesn't turn black or act like it's updating at all. It acts normal.
There's no damage to it, it's in a case and has never been dropped or scratched; it looks and acts brand new other than this.
What is causing it and how can I fix it?

I have iPad 1, but it's obsoluted since Apple stop its iOS on 5.1.1. Sold it, so planning to get iPad mini 1st generation.
Just wonder is it future proof?

No technological device should be considered future proof. The mini will run iOS 7 and will continue to run that as long as the hardware allows. If you are worried about being able to update for a long time you should consider buying a more recent model.

iOS 5.1.1 is the last version an iPad 1 can run. If you need to run iOS 6 or later, you'll need a newer iPad.

I have an iPod mini 1st generation, and was wondering if I took it o an Apple store if they could replace the battery?

The battery is quite common and they will repair it if they get the battery in stock.
In case not, you can google "iPad Mini" battery replacement, I am sure you will find some.
DIY?, it is quite tough for me for iPad Mini, I did break one. So ask a shop to do for you if you are not too sure about it

Daughter set up ipad mini with a passcode and then forgot the passcode. have not synced on computer yet. it won't let me restore on itunes. says to unlock ipad mini first

None. If there is a good charge in the battery when you get it go ahead and use your pad. I use my iPad during the day and leave it to charge overnight. If I use too much battery during the day I'll charge it again.

If you have a retailer near you, take your iPad in. Often they will let you try the case on before you buy it.
If the case is a slip case or a silicone one you might have better luck than a hard plastic one.

wondering if anyone could help regarding my ipad screen. suddenly has white and black lines flashing across screen and will not stop. Already hard reset it and tried DFU mode but still no joy. Also says before It cut off completly that wi fi is not available at all as if it wasn't even a feature of the ipad, really baffled. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

It gets thru download from app store and lengthy "preparing" step, next thing I know the screen is black. On awakening, everything is at it was.
Tried it twice, same result.
Did find two entries in "Diagnostics & Usage" of the form "OTAUpdate-<the date & time>.ips
Neither entry has any content

This WAS a Wi-Fi process. And I did a hard restart on the device, no help.
So I plugged iPad into iTunes on my Mac over USB, and had it install the update. Installed ok, guess my problem is solved.
