IPad mini- froze

My ipad mini froze. I was able to turn it off (I think), but now it won't turn back on. What do I do?

Try a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple logo.

iPad mini froze completely. How can I restore it?

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • IPad Mini froze while updating to iOs 8.1

My wife's 32 gig iPad Mini was still on iOS 6 (6.1.6) It had automatically downloaded 8.1 and we tried to install it. The progress bar showed it was about 2 - 3 mm from the end when it froze. I tried attaching it to her computer while holding down the home button to put it into recovery mode and received an error message that  its locked with a passcode that has to be unlocked on the iPad before it will recognise it. Obviously this can't happen as its frozen.
Is there any way of getting around this?  (There is about 20 gig of spare space on the device.)

I'll give you something else for the near future ... it's doing a clean system install and it's a good way to get rid of any possible corrupted files in your system. This can also be for troubleshooting a particularly difficult problem.
Follow this procedure for a Troubleshooting Methodology ... basically reset to factory default condition -BUT- be sure to do the following methodically and also to follow the part with Apple Support!
First you want to make sure you have several backups of your data and done with a couple of "different" sources. Be sure to understand what data is backed up and what is NOT on iCloud Backup and iTunes Backup. Use a variety of methods for backup ... you might check into Dropbox, in addition to your Apple options.
Then turn off your desktop anti-virus software when using iTunes for this reset to factory default. After you do that reset, then leave your iPad in its factory default state and see how it operates then. If you encounter any problems in that factory default state, then take it to Apple Support, and let them know that you have just reset it to that state with iTunes and have not put any of your data back on and it is operating in this fashion (whatever the problem is) in that pristine state. Make sure you keep that trouble ticket number, because if it has to be escalated through Apple Support, you're going to find all communications tied in with that number. If the lower level help isn't able to help you, then escalate it to a higher level to examine the problem. Keep at it with that trouble ticket number until Apple Support arrives at a solution to that problem. Be methodical and keep at it.
On the other hand, if everything is okay with the factory default condition, then restore your backup. Some people have discovered that the problem resides in the apps or something in the restored backup. If that's the case, then it's going to be trying and difficult to find out which developer's app is causing you the problem. And ... it's true ... that a developer not following Apple's instructions and guidelines for his app can CAUSE YOU TROUBLE. This kind of thing does happen from developers, especially when a new system upgrade comes out, because some developers ignore what Apple tells them about changes coming, and what they do BREAKS SOMETHING.
This is a troubleshooting methodology that you are going through. See it through to the end.

  • Ipad mini frozen in Kindle app. how reset?

My new ipad mini froze in the Kindle app. downloading books from my amazon kindle cloud (may have clicked too many) how do I reset my mini?  I held power button down for exntended periods of time no avail.  Thank you!

A soft-reset (i.e. a reboot) is done by pressing and holding both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignoring the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content.

  • FaceTime and iMessages worked fine on my ipad mini but now they don't please help

Okay so I was on face time when suddenly for the first time my ipad mini froze so I held down the home and off button like anyone else would do. Then when it turned back on I went back onto face time and it asked me to enter my username and password which I found a bit weird so I did. So I went on the App Store downloaded an app and it asked me to enter my password I did and it worked fine. Went back to enter my username and password for FaceTime and it said it again so I changed my password tried it again it still said it was incorrect. Then I tried it on my iPod and it works fine my question is why is my FaceTime and iMessages suddenly not working but my App Store and everything else works fine I use Face time all the time and I really need it can anyone help me because I don't know what to do

  • Locked iPad mini

MY iPad mini froze. Now, after I pressed the home button and the power but for 10 secs, it keeps cycling to the lock screen and then to a black screen. I can't get it to unlock and it won't stop cycling. Please help!!

Did you try resetting it again? If you did try and it still won't boot up properly, you may have to restore it.

If that doesn't work, you may need to use recovery mode.

  • Problems with my Ipad Mini Freezing/black screen/power off randomly

So I got my Ipad Mini about 3 weeks ago, maybe a little longer. I have had the first gen Ipad since it came out and never really had a problem with it. I wanted to the Ipad mini for a long time cause my buddies have it and I have loved it ever since I saw one. I finally got one and it worked great for the first week. I got home and installed all my apps. The usual, Spotify, Skype, Drafts, Sirius XM radio, and some other note-taking and organizational apps. Then everything was going well for the next week and a half just fine. I was listening to Sirius XM Radio on the app and my Ipad died. I looked at the screen and pressed the middle button to try to get the radio to turn back on but it didn't. I tried soft reseting it which didn't work and then I finally hard reset it. That worked, and made me a little nervous, but I thought maybe it was just the app. So I went home and uninstalled it and then re-installed it. Fast forward about another week and a half and I have been having the random shut downs every once in a while and just today I opened the skype App and everything just froze. I got a blue screen just like the Blue Screen of Death that a PC would get, the only difference was there was no error code on the blue screen. It was jsut a solid blue screen. I did a hard reset again and then tried to open another one of my note taking apps because I had pretty important stuff on it. I wanted to copy it down but before I could the Ipad completely froze up again. I hard reset it again and now it won't even get past the black screen with the silver apple logo in the middle.
Is anyone else having this problem? is there any way to fix it? Does anyone have any idea why my Ipad mini is acting like this? I mean this is kind of ridiculous. I am extremely frustrated and dissapointed with how my Ipad mini is performing.

    Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

  • HT201210 My ipad mini is stuck in a continues reboot and will not turn on or shut off. What can I do.

My Ipad mini was in the middle of an update for the Pintrest app when the upload froze. I tried shutting down the ipad and that seemed to cause it to go into a constant reboot. Now the ipad will not turn on or shut off. Only display the apple sign. Are the any self fix remedies out there to fix this?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IOS 8.1 crashed my iPad mini

I Installed ios 8.1 on my iPad mini, then had trouble with it being really slow and glitchy.  So I powered it off.  When I tried to turn it on again, it just free at the apple logo. I tried to reboot (held the home button and power button), but again when I tried to turn it on, it froze at the logo - and that's where it is stuck now.

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.
