IPad mini initially unresponsive after turning on?

My iPad mini is consistently unresponsive after I first turn it on from shut down. It opens to the lock screen, but I can't type my password.
I found that pushing the power button 4 times (two cycles of turning off the screen, then again to turn on the screen) will solve the problem, but it's really frustrating each time I turn on my iPad. Has anyone else experienced this?
I am presently still running the last version of iOS 6. Would updating to iOS 7 fix this? I have concerns about significantly decreased battery life with the new OS. Any advice or comments would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Kelly

Running iOS 7 has not significantly decreased my battery times from what I was getting in iOS 6, but there is no question that what I was getting in iOS 5 and comparing that to what I get now, there is about one hour's difference. I used to easily get 10 hours in iOS 5 and that gradually decreased with every update in iOS 6 and has continued to decrease a little bit in iOS 7, but I still get 8-1/2 - 9 hours out of a full charge.
As for the weird unresponsive screen issue, have you rebooted the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears on the screen?
Tried resetting all settings! Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. If you do this you will have to enter all device settings again, but no data will be lost.

  • IPad mini touch unresponsive after replacing digitizer.

I just replaced an ipad mini digitizer. The home button works fine but the screen is completely unresponsive. I can get to the lockscreen but can't swipe or do anything. I tried doing the reboot by holding both buttons but same result. Please help.

I guess I should have mentioned before that this is my second time replacing it. The first time there was a faulty digitizer and the home button wouldn't work. But the touch screen DID work. Now its flipped, my second time around fixing it the home button works fine and the touchscreen is unresponsive. I thought it might have some damage from being dropped but the touch screen worked before. So I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong or if its something i can fix. Thanks

When ever I play my games on my iPad mini, it unexpectedly just turns off on me? Whats wrong? Can it be that my iPad mini has a virus?

Very doubtful it's a malware issue.
When that happens, try resetting the device.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If an app quits again, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    Then try an app again.

  • Tried to restore my iPad mini that wouldn't turn on and now it wont do anything.

I was trying to update an app and it wouldn't update so I restarted my iPad mini. Well when I restarted my iPad it would only load to the apple screen and then nothing would happen. I came on here to see someone said to restore the iPad mini and it gave me steps on how to restore it so I folowed them and it was all going well. Well after the first attempt it hadn't been restored yet so I went to do it again but it never showed the iTunes screen but it would show the apple sometimes. I was tired of trying because it was getting very late and I wanted to sleep so I just set it down. This morning I wanted to try again because this iPad mini was very essential to my everyday life and now I can't get it to do anything. When I plug it in the computer the computer doesn't even say anyhting and I honestly don't know what to do. I spent too much money on this when it came out for it to break because it couldn't start up.

  • I use iPad mini retina. After I install iOS 7.0.6, iTunes won't read my iPad data and ask to restore. Any idea how to fix it without restore ?

I have problem to sync my iPad mini with iTunes . I already upgrade the software into the newest version.

    Philly:
When there is an iOS update available, iTunes asks if you want to install it. I chose to only download the iOS 7.0.6 update, but not to install it until I had done a backup of everything on my iPad. When that iOS 7.0.6 update failed, I had NO iOS at all, just a bricked iPad.
When my son did a "clean restore" that was the same thing you'd do to wipe an iPad - just install iOS 7.0.6 and install basic iPad apps.  When you turn the iPad on after that, it indicates it wants to be connected to iTunes. At that point, my son yanked the cord so nothing else was installed.  Then, with iOS 7.0.6 already installed, iTunes on my PC didn't say it wanted to update iOS, and allowed me to choose my previous backup to be restored. All was straightforward after that.
Again, there are places on he web where you can download various versions of iOS, along with a PC utility that will do the iOS update. I think these utilities are for when you want to hack your device, so I'm not crazy about this approach.

  • Ipad mini not charging after 6.1.2 ios update

I just updated my pad to the latest ios, then what i noticed is that it can't charge anymore. Charging is is still possible through laptop though but it's TOO SLOW... this is surely because of the update... what can we do... hopefully apple fixes this SOON...

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
Or - Recalibrate the battery. See link below.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. I also need to know what IP the ipod gets, so I can see what mode the TC or network router is working in.

  • IPad mini incredibly slow after io8

SSo since I stalling io8....which took hours....my iPad Mini is wrecked.
It is now so so slow, despite my memory not being anywhere close to full. Certain apps have stopped working, even though they've updtated to fit in with io8. It's freezing constsntly, and when I type it takes a good few minutes for my text to show....this is like problems you have on an ancient comouter....shouldn't be happening to a four month old iPad.  At the moment its pretty ,unchanged useless, which is ridiculous after spending so much ,only only a few Months ago.
ANyone else experiencing problems? I apologise for the bad typing, this has taken ages to type up on my ipad.

I also have an iPad mini with iOS 8. I have not experienced any of the problems listed above, but my Wi-Fi connection is slow, I cannot create events in Calendar without problems, my Multitasking Gestures sometimes don't work, the Multitasking screen appears with a delay, and Keyboard shortcuts disappear after I restart my iPad.
The problem that I am experiencing with Calendar: When I try to create an all-day event, it will make the event start 1 day earlier than I specified and end on the correct date. So every time I create an all-day event, I have to go back to the event to correct the start date and move the end date back by 1 day. For example, if I created an all-day event for today only (20 September), it will instead create an event for 19-20 September.
The Multitasking Gestures problem mainly occurs when I want to access the Multitasking screen from the Home Screen. I swipe up with four fingers, but most of the time it doesn't work. When I double-click the Home button, I have to wait around 1 second before the Multitasking screen appears.
After I installed iOS 8, I noticed that my keyboard shortcuts were not working. I checked them in Settings and they were gone. I added them back, but after I restarted my iPad a few days later, I once again noticed that they were not working. As soon as I opened Settings, they appeared and have been working since.
I am hoping that Apple will fix these bugs, as they are rather annoying!
