Ipad mini locking n typing sounds

My ipad mini is making weird sounds while locking or typing. I have checked all the settings and all appear good. Also have turned off and on. Nothing. It almost sounds as if the 'button' is stuck.  Please help if possible. Thanks

I turned off by just holding the lock button and it seemed to work momerntarily. Did as suggested and it went back to the screeching. Did it again by just switching off, it seemed to work. Typing sound is normal also. Thanks for quick response and help.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • Ipad mini locked

Ipad mini locked. The Apple ID of former owner is still there but his email address doesn't exist. I emailed him to fix this problem just received an email failure back. What can I do? When tried going into the Apple ID it said the Apple ID had to have a password change due to security reasons. I am guessing I wasn't the only one that has the same problem.

That same email is the one in his Apple ID.

  • IPad mini locked up

Soon after I downloaded iOS 8, my iPad mini locked and it said I had to enter a passcode. I have never set up a passcode for this and I do not know how to disable this.

Thanks for trying, Sewmagator2. The steps that mama23dogs shared would be the only way to bypass the steps for a forgotten code for that tablet under any type of wireless service. The link she provided has steps to place your phone into recovery mode first, then restore as a new device. This will bypass the notification of needing a passcode then allow you to continue.

  • Why does my ipad mini not have any sound?

My ipad mini does not have sound in any of my apps (mostly games). Sound is on in settings, and sound is turned on in each app. It is a first generation mini, not a retina display. Thanks for any suggestions.

First try a Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the Steps in this article to force the device into Recovery Mode.

  • I was trying to buy a song on my ipad mini, Then I typed in my apple ID. It would not let me buy the song.

I was trying to buy a song on my ipad mini, then I typed in my apple ID. It took my money and did not give me the song. So then I plugged it in to my mac and it made me sync my ipad and it changed all of my information and I had a different persons data.

  • Updated my ipad mini and now voice sounds on movies are muffled...were fine until update!  How to fix?

The voices on movies purchased from itunes are muffled and cant be heard...please advise

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap on General
    3. Tap on Reset
    4. Tap on Reset All Settings
What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy. It doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain intact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.

  • IPAD Mini Locked after iOS upgrade, tried reset on iPAD did not work, plugged in and device not appearing in iTUNEs for reset/restore

PAD Mini Locked after iOS upgrade, tried reset on iPAD did not work, plugged in and device not appearing in iTUNEs for reset/restore.  Just get an Apple Logo then a flashing blue screen as if it is caught booting up.   This has happened twice before and iTunes restore fixed it.  But this time device not appearing in iTunes.
Running iTunes for PC.  But as stated restore has worked before!  Any help greatly appreciated!!

Place the device in DFU mode and let iTunes restore the device to factory condition.

  • Ipad mini some apps no sound

I've tried re-setting my ipad mini. I've tried deleting and reloading the apps that have no sound but nothing seems to work. Do I need to completely wipe the mini and set it up not from back up but as a new ipad to fix this problem?

If the above doesn't try reset all settings.
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Reset All Settings does not delete anything, all it does is take most of the iPad's settings back to default (with the exception of accounts setting, and maybe a couple other things.) It is perfectly safe.
The only inconvenience is that you have to go back through almost all your settings and set them to your preference.

  • My Ipad mini locks itself while i'm still playing..I need some help _

While I'm playing/surfing the net, my ipad mini randomly locks itself, and when I press the home button...it's locked...what was the problem there? Can anyone help me? Coz it's annoying >_<

Locks itself like it goes back to the lock screen and you have to slide the "Slide to Unlock" bar at the bottom of the screen? That is quite strange if that is what it is doing. Try rebooting the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up

  • IPad Mini Locked & iTunes version problems

My daughter got an iPad Mini for her recent birthday. I also received an iPhone 5 for mine (happy days). My PC is an 8 year old iMac. We have two problems:
*My daughter entered a pass code to her Mini, forgot it and has now locked herself out after too many attempts to remember it (shes 11). All recommended solutions involve using iTunes
    * My iPhone 5 will not back up to the version of iTunes that is on the PC, nor will my daughters Mini saying it needs a newer version of iTunes (10.7 or later).
Despite several attempts, my PC refuses to download/support any newer versions of iTunes rendering the stored half of my music/video library redundant and not being able to restore my daughters iPad mini. My questions are:
    1. Do I have to purchase a whole new PC just to support our new Apple products??
    2. How do we unlock my daughters iPad mini if the PC doesnt recognise it
    Yours in frustration

I assume you are running Windows XP?
Make sure Windows is up to date. iTunes 11.0.4 requires XP to be on at least Service Pack 2 (most current is Service Pack 3).
To check go to Start > Right-Click on My Computer > Properties > General
If you aren't  uop to date, here is a link to XP SP3: Download the Windows XP Service Pack 3 package now
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5B33B5A8-5E76-401F-BE08 -1E1555D4F3D4Once you have the current SP, run Windows Update to make sure you are current
After Windows XP is up to date, download and install iTunes 11.0.4 from here:
    iTunes 11.0.4
Upgrading iTunes will not compromise your content.

  • IPad mini locks up sometimes when using Logitech ultra slim keyboard.

I bought a 32 gb mini iPad confiured for a Verizon data plan.  I also purchased a Logitech Unltraslim keyboard/cover to use with it via bluetooth.  However, sometimes the mini iPad screen locks up and I cannot remove the on-screen keyboard nor can I get the Logitech bluetooth keyboard to respond.  In order to "unlock" the jam, I have to do a reboot of the system.
Any suggestions on a remedy to keep the mini iPad from locking up?

    Let's examine the facts:
-Another wireless keyboard has worked fine with your iPad
-You have exchanged it for another keyboard with the same results
-You have reset your iPad (though I am unsure whether you have done a hard or soft reset).
When I see these facts, my first thought is that it could be a problem with the design of that certain keyboard. If you wanted to go through the trouble of fully resetting your iPad (Settings>General>Reset> Reset all Content & Settings), that's up to you.
