IPad Mini memory full

I have a 16 gb iPad mini.  I don't know why, but with a fresh install of everything, my iPad has about 8 gb of storage available.  Over the course of a couple of days, it completely fills up.  With what, I do not know.
I use iTunes Match, so it's not music.
I turned off 'Documents and Data' followed by a reset of the ipad, so that's not it.
I turned off 'Mail' and 'Calendars' followed by a reset.
I do not have any Movies.
I have only a few photostream albums on the iPad.
I'm estimating my Apps take up only 3 to 4 GB.
Any ideas?  If I restore the iPad and reload everything from the iCloud backup, it shows abut 8 gb of storage available.  But 3 times in a row over the course of several days, it's filled up.

itunes match puts the music on your ipad so it does take up space (once you download it). if you connect ipad to your computer what does the space bar say is taking the most amount of space? you only get like 13 GB of data with 16 GB ipad. restoring from icloud backup can bring a corrupt file back each time (typically lots of errors in diagnostic and usage data). restoring as new is always the best option if this is happening.

Hi, i just shocked when i recognized, my Ipad mini screen full of scratches, after playing Virtual table tennis app...I have a griffin hard cover, and i always keep in safe my staff, ...so I did the scratches with my neal...wich i think is abnormal, in this case....
I saw a few youtube videos and they try to make scratches with key...andsoon...
So what can I do it now....??
Anybody have an experience like this..?????

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

The iPad Mini models above have exactly the same built technical features ... the only difference is ... the memory.
I mean, you could also offer a built-in SD card slot, where I could at least store more of my movies, photos, music etc. for *less*.
    Right? or Wrong?

There are some other options for additional storage for somewhat less cost. Get a wireless external hard drive that can be used with the iPad.

  • IPad mini memory

My iPad mini only has 1 GB available, with 12.8 GB capacity. I have only 4 songs,  no videos or games. I have 65 Apps and 180 photos. My iPad 2 and my iPhone 4s each have more available memory, even though they have more photos and songs. Any ideas what's using up my memory?

Why are my photos taking up so much memory on my ipad mini when I only have 4 photos on the ipad?

That probably is correct. Out of the box, a 16GB iPad or iPhone only has about 13 GB of available storage because of the iOS and preinstalled apps already on the device.

  • 16GB iPad Mini Retina full with 10.3GB of 'Other'?

My 16GB iPad Mini Retina has been giving me 'storage almost full' messages lately despite me deleting all my videos, nearly all my photos, many apps, etc. I actually have very little stuff stored on it compared to this annoying, mysterious 'other'. No music, no TV shows, no movies, very few documents, emails or anything. I deleted big apps like Twitter and it's made no difference. When I connect my iPad to my Mac and open iTunes, here's what it says is on the Mini:
    Capacity 11.69GB
    149 MB Photos
    1.08 GB Apps
    169 MB Documents + Data
    10.30 GB of OTHER
Not sure what's going on. I can't even update to the latest iOS update or even save a single photo. Any ideas of what's wrong and what I can do?

Thanks for that link Kappy; I'd read that previously, but that's for clearing out stuff you might have accumulated along the way - which I understand and appreciate. It's having 0.5Gb on the shrink-wrapped device that's confusing me.
I would walk down to the Apple Store, but last time I had a problem the Genius said "I'll just Google that..." which didn't inspire confidence :-)

  • IPad mini memory (other data) problem!!

My iPad mini 16 gb only has three apps downloaded on it, only Youtube, ibooks, and netflix. No music or videos. Recently I checked the usage and all of a sudden 1.5 gbs were being used compared to the 960 ish so mbs being used before.
I then restored the iPad mini and then downloaded ibooks and Youtube. Then proceeded to connect to itunes to create a backup, however the other data just keeps piling up and up and I'm at 865 mb with no usage anywhere whatsoever.
    What's the problem?

    Check storage.
Tap Settigs > General > About the scroll down to:  Available
"only has three apps downloaded on it"
Keep in mind, your iPad has pre installed apps such as Safari, iTunes, Photos, App Store, Calendar, Reminders, etc., which take up storage space.
You need to free up storage space then do the backup.

  • Which iPad would you recommend for a college student, an iPad mini or full size iPad?

I already have the top of the line Macbook Pro 15 in ret display for school, but I'm also interested in using an iPad for school as well. Would the iPad mini be more convenient because of the small size or more of a problem? And would getting an iPad for school be really worth it? What could I do on there that I couldn't do on my Mac? If I were to get an iPad I would be looking into a 32GB, is that too big or too small? Thanks for the help ahead of time!

OK... here's the latest on my lab environment/server set up. We have a 17" iMac G5. It is connected to a 24 port 10/100 switch with two gigabit ports. The iMac gets a gigabit port; the eleven eMacs get 10/100 ports. There is an internal 160 GB SATA hard drive installed in the iMac, and a 160 GB external firewire drive connected to the iMac for back-up purposes. I haven't got the back-up software running yet, but plans are to back up user information on the external hard drive and create an archive of server OS set up and software on DVD in case of catastrophic failure.
Since our 30+ Windows boxes are served with your basic Dell Optiplex running Windows Server 2003 and an old, cranky Gateway running Linux, I didn't think our little Mac lab would suffer that much under an iMac server. So far it's been smooth sailing, and the whole set-up, iMac, server software, and external hard drive, were under $2000.

  • Support for atp-x in Bluetooth ipad mini

Hello all... I am wondering if the new ipad mini has full support for csr atp-x codec in the OS. Or more spesific, Can i use the ipad mini

I am not able to find anything on apple website regarding this, but I would imagine that there are several here that know this

No iPad runs any version of Mac OS X. Mac OS X is for Mac desktop and MacBook computers only. Your iPad Mini is running iOS 6.0.1.

Will the V1 Golf App work on my iPad Mini with full video recording and importing capabilities? And also can you record the video straight on the iPad Mini and not have to import it through an SD Card?

Yes, the V1 Golf App will work on the iPad Mini with full video recording and importing.  Yes, you can record video with the internal camera on the iPad mini and do not have to use a seperate camera and import through a SD Card.

  • IPad Mini low 512MB RAM, suffer from performance?

I recently bought an iPad Mini, nice little tablet for its size. However, I read a report on one of my favorite news about Apple products "Appletell" that the new iPad mini had a lower memory RAM(like 512MB) count than the 4th Gen iPad. I think that it's sad that Apple has it added, such a memory RAM on their new product. Does the the memory count remain an important part of performance when opening apps and playing games?

With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

My iPad Mini with retina display suddenly will not connect to the Internet. It shows full wifi bars, yet no web pages will load. My Internet is working with all other apple devices in my house. The iPad also no longer works with celluar data. I'm not sure what has happened. It was working fine a few hours ago. I have tried resetting it, ive restarted my browser etc. I tried to erase all data from my Ipad but I can't do that because it needs to sign into my Apple ID and use the Internet!

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Why is my iCloud storage full when I bought a 32GB iPad mini?

When my mum bought me my iPad mini at Christmas (7 months ago), she bought me a 32GB and recently I have had notifications saying that my iCloud storage is full. I have deleted many apps and many photos, also when I try to delete the data of certain apps I don't want, the switch will turn to white (meaning it has been deleted) and when I go back onto Manage Backup the switch will be green ( meaning that it has obviously not been deleted). Why does this happen? Is it a problem with the iPad itself? My mum bought me the 32GB so problems like this wouldn't happen. Also writing this question my iPad has been running slow, is this because of my iCloud storage being full?
I just put this down to be that when you buy the iPad mini you get 5GB free for your backup and the other 32GB is for photos, apps etc. Is this what has happened I have used up the 5GB of iCloud backup? Or have I used up the full 32GB?
Thank you for taking the time to read and (hopefully) answer my question.

Apps, music, movies, sync'd photos from iTunes are part of iCloud backup.
You should turn off photo backup to iCloud and regularly sync your photos to your computer and delete them from the Camera Roll.

    No.

Hey all! Recently got an IPad Mini. Already have a Macbook. I have a folder full of songs(lyrics and chords) on the Mac. The file type inside the folder are all "Web Archive". I am trying to transfer this folder to my Mini, via Bluetooth. It won't allow me to transfer, it says "device missing services"? I have no idea what this means. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

You can't transfer files to another device using bluetooth.
I'm not really sure you can transfer web archives from mac to iOS device using itunes or icloud.  Remember, on an iOS device, any file has to belong to an app.  The device does not have a file system like the mac where you can move files into any folder you want.
