Ipad Mini not charging

I lost my Ipad mini around a month ago and found it recently and because my old charger was broken we bought a brand new lead a nd home plug today but I plugged it in and now my Ipad will not even reboot like most of these discussions have told me. Please help I don't want to end up like my mother...( hopeless with anything technical ) much appreciated,

If iPad is very low on power or if the battery is fully depleted, charge iPad using the included AC adapter and Dock Connector to USB cable.
If the iPad's battery is extremely low on power, the display may remain blank for up to five minutes before a low-battery images appears.
If your iPad displays a low battery image, it can take up to 20 minutes of charging before the iPad will start up. You can press the Home button to check the current charging status.

I just purchased an iPad mini and I plugged it into my windows laptop (Toshiba) for the first time. I was able to sync it up with my iTunes and everything without a problem. But then I noticed that on my actual iPad mini where it shows the energy level on the upper right hand side, it says "Not Charging." And this is while my iPad IS plugged into my laptop. So it should be charged. Is there something in the settings or in iTunes that I have to do in order to get my iPad mini to charge right? Thanks for any help you can give me. I appreciate it.

Thanks for the tip deggie. I tried that. I don't think that's the issue. I have an iPhone 5 that uses the same USB port on my laptop and my iPhone 5 charges from there normally without a problem. I also should mention that I tried charging my iPad mini using the A/C adaptor and it was charging fine. So I'm not sure why my iPad mini is refusing to charge off my laptop. So confusing....

I just updated my pad to the latest ios, then what i noticed is that it can't charge anymore. Charging is is still possible through laptop though but it's TOO SLOW... this is surely because of the update... what can we do... hopefully apple fixes this SOON...

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
Or - Recalibrate the battery. See link below.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). Iphone 6 and ipad mini not charging after update to iOS 8.02

after updating iPhone 6 and iPad mini to iOS 8.02 neither of them will charge on my Bose Soundock Portable using a genuine Apple 30 pin to Lightning adapter however, my 5S running 8.0 still charges

Upgraded to 8.1 still not charging with official adapter however the one I bought from poundland works fine
the official adapter has been exchanged for a new one also

HELP! IPad mini not charging on certain wall plus

I had my iPad mini for almost a year and i would always charge it next to my bed. All of a sudden I wake up and I see it almost to zero percent. I use the 5W and 10W and would say not charging. But it will charge normally with my iPhone in the same wall plug but not my iPad. I know the cord and adapters are working cause I would plug them into different wall adapters. Does anyone have any idea whats happening?

IPad3 and iPad mini not charging since ios 8.0.2

i have an ipad 3 and a gen 1 mini. Using all original apple parts the mini used to fully charge in a few hours and last almost two days. I could charge using the original 5w wall charger tha came with it and even use a high quality usb extension between it and the charging cable. Since ios8 plugging the mini in to charge merely keeps the battery % static and may even drop a few % points if using the mini While plugged in. whether the usb extension is used does not matter; i am unable to get any battery charge increase. I found the ONLY way ive been able to charge up the iPad mini now is to use the 10w wall charger from my iPad 3.
my ipad3 chraging time has now gone from long to twice as long - it took nine hours to go from 22% to 92% yesterday with no usage.
I have reset and restored both iPads from the cloud to no improvement.
Has anyone else seen this?

My mini ipad came fully charged from the apple store yorkdale, my charge is down to 19% so I took charger from the box and plugged it into the wall and the other end into the ipad both ways, but not charging, tried powering down and up with power button, but not charging. What is the secret here?

Dont worry Sayurichaninu the only way of gett your ipad mini to charge is doing it on the computer. All you have to do is find a windows 7/8 computer (32 bit or 64 bit) and then copy and paste this into your browser.: http://event.asus.com/mb/2010/ai_charger/
Then you will need winrar. just copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
then click on the english 32bit or 64bit depending on what system bit you have. then click on the engish 32bit or 64 bit and it will start downloading. when it is finished go through the installation process. when that is finished go back the ai charger website and you should find a 'Download Now' button in blue on the page. click on that and when the download is finished, click on that. Then you should see a programe called 'Setup.exe' click on that. go through the process and then it will say you will need to restart your computer click on the small circle that says restart your computer and then click ok. wait for it to restart. and then pplug in your ipad mini into your computer with the usb cable from the charger plug and plug that into the computer and then put the micro charger into the slot on the ipad. and it should charge. it will take 3-5 hours

When you plug into a computer, it may say "not Charging", but it will charge but slowly. If this is the case, the cable is good. Therefore, the wall charger must be defective.

Ipad will not charge

My ipad 3 went from 5% battery to shutting down. On attempting to charge it up, it gives the icon on the screen of a depleted battery, and after a few minutes the apple logo appears, and after which it turns off. Pressing any of the home buttons or sleep/wake button simply repeats the cycle. I have changed chargers, wall socket, attempted to charge via computer but to no avail. On one occasion, it got as far as briefly showing my home screen before shutting down again. Note that I have kept it plugged in for 12 hours now.

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night.
