Ipad mini photo storage

I have an ipod touch 32gb. It has 12,800 pictures on it and it takes up 4.01 gb of memory. I just got an ipad mini 64 gb and those same 12,800 pictures take up 39.6 gb.  Just curious why the pictures take up so much more space on the ipad mini.  Anyone know?

On the Mini, you would whatever app that accompanies the format of the file in question. Photos app for Photos, Pages for Pages or MS Word, etc. That is for content that is synced via iCloud. If you are referring to back ups, you cannot access individual content. If you could be a little more specific, someone might be able to provide a more concise answer for you.

How can I transfer Ipad Mini photos to a USB device to free up space on Ipad Mini

You can't directly. Your best bet may be to use a cloud service such as DropBox, Media fire or Box to store them prior to deleting. From any of those services you can download to a computer and then to a USB drive or other external storage.

  • My ipad mini icloud storage will not drop below 2.5 GB.

My ipad mini icloud storage will not drop below 2.5 GB. I have deleted/OFFed everything. Still at 2.5?!?! I have removed and restored account. Still at 2.5. When I turn on larger apps like iMovie and garage band, it will go above 2.5, but never below. I have turned off all apps and all things like mail, contacts, calendars, reminders, safari, photo stream, and documents. Still 2.5. I also have an iPhone linked to the account it is using 911 mb's of storage,
I will not buy more storage.
Hopefully someone can figure this out
    Thank-you,
    Jeanmarie

When you turn off mail, contacts, etc on your devices, that does not remove them from the icloud server; it just prevents the data from syncing to the device.  Your email, for example, remains on icloud until you delete all of it.  Same for contacts, etc.  Have you done that?

  • IPad Mini - photo roll keeps freezing

Since updating to iOS7, my iPad Mini is having problems with the photo roll. Everytime I hit the Photo button, the screen goes white, some pics show in a distorted manner and then the screen freezes. I have to do a hard reset to turn it back on. I have copied across the photos, resynced the album and also reset all settings.
Is anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions for how to correct this fault?
    Thanks!

    (A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
    (B) Reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

  • IPAD mini IOS8 storage issues

    Hi,
I just installed IOS 8.1.2 on my IPAD mini and it has used up about 6GB of memory!  Anybody else had this issue?  How idea as to how to resolve this?
    Thanks.

    Hello Millie_c2,
Thanks for providing more information on the issue you're having with the iPad.  Since you're seeing a lot of space being taken up in "Other" usage, please follow the steps outlined below.
Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes. If you see the "Not enough free space" alert, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes. If you see the "Not enough free space" alert, continue to step 6.
    Restore using iTunes.
If you get a "Not enough free space" alert on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Cheers,
    Alex H.

  • Ipad mini photos are stored temporary and then disappear (the next day)

My friedn bought the ipad mini and he has the following problem:
He takes some photos from the camera and they are stored in the cameraroll album. The weird thing it that the next day the photos disappear from the album.
    What's happenng here?
Also, there are some factory albums on the ipad mini. How can we delete those albums?
Thanks in advance for the help

This does work. Students can save the video on the camera roll and then upload them into their edmodo library. The next day they can open the video and export them to imovie and they are ready to go. I hope this helps.

  • IPad Mini Stays Storage Almost Full

My iPad mini keeps ghost filling my storage. In restarting it, my free space would come back. After it would continually do this, I restored my ipad to factory settings and reinstalled my apps. The problem has persisted. Anyone know why it would do this or how to fix the problem?

How to Remove “Other” Data from iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch
    http://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-remove-other-data-from-iphone/
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • Ipad mini says storage is full but i have deleted everything and tried everything. Does anybody know what the issue is, i would be greatful for a response, thank you!

My ipad mini says that my stirage is full but i have dleted everything and its still the same, i cant download apps, or take photos and camera and photos seems to be taking up the most GB even though i have delted everything from my photos. Does anyone know what this is? thank you!

When you delete photo in 8.x it puts them in a deleted folder,  it lets them in there for 30 days.  You need to delete the photos / videos in the delete folder ( may have different name. )

  • When I want to share my iPad mini photos, the app freezes

Like the title says: the iPhoto and Camera app freeze when I try to share photos to my photo stream or to Facebook. I don't really know how to deal with this. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks for helping. Because of New Year's celebrations I didn't get around to trying it out until now. Thanks again and have a Happy New Year!

  • How do i manage photo storage in ios 8?

Now that Camera Roll has been removed from Photos, I can't tell which photos are physically on my device and which I'm getting via iCloud.  In the past I could manage my physical storage space by removing photos from my local device that I was happy to have access to only via Photostream. That is much more difficult now - I don't seem to have a specific option to "remove locally" vs "remove from Photostream".  I can only delete from all locations.  Plus, if I happen to be off-line, how can I be sure the photos I want to have access to all the time are available?  In the past, I could make sure those were on my physical storage even if they were part of Photostream.  I could also sync them to a folder on my computer and that does appear to still work, but in the face of moving to a more cloud-based solution, that seems clunky in the design Apple seems to be trying to achieve. So rather than rant about the poor decision decisions Apple seems to be making here and how they seem to be catering more to the crowd that wants to just pile up loads of rubbish without managing it, I'd like to focus on the specific questions around managing my physical storage and how to make sure the photos that I want uninterrupted access to are always available to me, even if I can't connect to iCloud.

True, but again, this is using multiple interfaces and comparing multiple lists to do what should be a simple job.  I can also connect the iPhone to my PC and inspect the DCIM folder to see which images are there.
I hope this is not the answer Apple intends.  If the only way I can manage my iPhone (or iPad) physical photo storage is to continue to use a PC or Mac to inspect the actual folders or sync specific folders in iTunes to ensure certain photos are available, then so be it, but it would be hard to say this is a convenient or elegant solution worthy of Apple.
I'm hoping someone from Apple reads this and can provide input as well - not that I'm not open to input from the larger community of course, but there is a lot of dissatisfaction out there in the public forums over some of these recent design decisions and I'm hoping it is because Apple has done a poor job of instructing users on how to use the tools properly rather than producing poor tools.

  • Why is my iCloud storage full when I bought a 32GB iPad mini?

When my mum bought me my iPad mini at Christmas (7 months ago), she bought me a 32GB and recently I have had notifications saying that my iCloud storage is full. I have deleted many apps and many photos, also when I try to delete the data of certain apps I don't want, the switch will turn to white (meaning it has been deleted) and when I go back onto Manage Backup the switch will be green ( meaning that it has obviously not been deleted). Why does this happen? Is it a problem with the iPad itself? My mum bought me the 32GB so problems like this wouldn't happen. Also writing this question my iPad has been running slow, is this because of my iCloud storage being full?
I just put this down to be that when you buy the iPad mini you get 5GB free for your backup and the other 32GB is for photos, apps etc. Is this what has happened I have used up the 5GB of iCloud backup? Or have I used up the full 32GB?
Thank you for taking the time to read and (hopefully) answer my question.

Apps, music, movies, sync'd photos from iTunes are part of iCloud backup.
You should turn off photo backup to iCloud and regularly sync your photos to your computer and delete them from the Camera Roll.

Also writing this question my iPad has been running slow, is this because of my iCloud storage being full?
    No.
Close all apps (double click Home then swipe up on all apps) then press & hold both Home & Power until you see the Apple logo.

  • HT2265 I need to get photos stored on my Apple TV to my new MacBook Pro hard drive and my new Ipad Mini. Can someone tell me how to accomplish?

I need to restore my photos from my Apple TV hard drive to my MacBook Pro, which I put a new hard drive into. Also, would like to share them with my iPad Mini.

I assume this is a 1st gen device. It is not meant to be used as a storage device and I don't think there is an easy way to get them off

  • Is it possible for me to add on storage to my iPad mini?

I just got an iPad Mini 16gb and I am already running out of room. Is there a way that I can add storage so I can continue making it my own? Thanks.

No.  The amount of space on your device is fixed when you buy it.  The only exception is Music, where if you choose to subscribe to iTunes Match, your music library will be availble to download an play on your device any time you have an internet connection without needing to store it all on your device.
If you want to save space, you'll have to use iTunes to sync some of your data off your device to make room for other data.  You can also import your photos and videos to your computer and delete them from your camera roll to save space (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083).
