IPad mini(Retina) charges a little weird?

So I think that my USB cord is fine, but sometimes when I plug it in to my iPad it does nothing. But when I pull everything completely out of the outlet and put it back in it starts to charge until I disconnect the cord from my iPad and reconnect it and then it'll stop charging even when I mess with it. Also, it seems to be a little slow charging from 98% to 100%. Thanks for help!!

Actually you can use the ipad mini as a phone and it actually makes the best and cheapest phone to have, and you aren't held down to a phone plan. And you can have a dedicated phone number to make and receive calls. At times people aren't aware of all it can do. But thats why there's people like me
Here are the steps
1.  Get a cellular equiped IPAD. It will be data only ofcourse.
2.  Get a google voice account. ( you will be assigned a phone number)
3.  Download Talkatone
4.  After setting up Talkatone with your google voice number, You'll be able to make and receive calls and text and it will be your primary phone.
Cost every month. Just the cost of your data plan. Cheapest phone ever. 30 bucks a month.
  As I said, you can use an iPad with VOIP services - no one ever said you could not use it as a Phone.  You can use just about any internet enabled device with VOIP as long as there is software for that device.
You cannot use the phone number assigned to your iPad data plan as a phone number however.

  • IPad Mini Retina Charging

    the charger that came with my mini worked just fine and then I oost it one day at work..
    i Tried using the iPhone adapter and some aftermarket tools but nothing worked .. I discovered I needed a stronger adapter and went and purchased one but continued to use the aftermarket "cord" .. My iPad now only charges to ~74 or 75 then says "Not Charging" no matter what I do.. I'm lost can anyone help me.

    Don't use an aftermarket cable. Some may be qualified by Apple and will work fine while others (cheap) may work sporadically/intermittently They can cause the very issue you are seeing. Also try to clean out the Lighting port on the device. Dust/dirt/lint can get lodged inside creating a bad connection issue. Clean it out with a clean brush (a toothbrush will work).

  • Ipad Mini Retina Charging Issue

    Does anyone experience the slight ground of the device when charging?

    You can't downgrade the iOS level so forget about that. I doubt that this is due to iOS 8.
    Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
    Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
    Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • IPad Mini Retina acts buggy w/ enclosed 10W charger ?

    My new 16G iPad Mini Retina 4GLTE came with a 10W charger. But as soon as you plug in the charger (I use an electrical outlet and NOT a computer) the iPad starts acting buggy; it will continuously blink and beep on and off-- the same as usual if the iPad has just been plugged in to charge, but it will blink off immediately and then blink/beep on and off again continuously until it's unplugged.
    It's hard to say whether the iPad battery is actually charging in this state, because I unplug it right away from being freaked out. I do not see the little "lightning" charge icon next to the battery indicator though, so I doubt it.
    Other 10W adapters from older iPads which have worked perfectly fine before, behave exactly the same way when plugged into the Mini. Thankfully, I have a 5W charger from an iPhone5, and that seems to do the trick.
    But what if I didn't have a 5W charger? Is there a fix for this? Shouldn't a 10W charger work fine? Is there something wrong with my iPad Mini Retina?

    Is this an Apple charger? Presumably yes.
    The Apple 10W charger should work fine with the iPad Mini Retina.
    There could be a problem with the Retina iPad Mini.
    If this problem occurs regularly take it and the charger to an Apple Store for evalution or contact Apple Support.

  • IPad mini Retina suddenly stopped charging

    I have an iPad mini Retina, iOS 8.1.2, which is now out of warranty, but I got a serious problem with it: One day, while it was charging with an Apple original cable and wall charger, the "This accesory may not be compatible" message was displayed and, since then, it never charged again with any charger. I have cleaned the outlet and the cable itself for any lint, etc., but nothing changed. All the accesories are Apple-branded and original, so I don't understand why is this happening and I'm stuck with an useless, beautiful $400 brick.
    Thanks for any feedback on this issue.

  • Brand new iPad Mini Retina won't charge when its connected to my PC

    I just opened up my brand new iPad Mini Retina and attempted to plug it into my PC and set it up. The iPad quickly recognizes my PC, briefly displays the charge symbol then immediately displays "not charging." I have attempted to plug the iPad into the wall, and it charges just fine. All the cables I'm using are straight out of the box which I bought right from the Apple Store so I know its not any of those. My laptop is fully charged and also plugged into the wall, so I know its not my computer. I also double checked everything by plugging my iPhone 5 into my computer (with the new iPad lightening cable) and it charges/syncs just fine. Im stumped, please help me fix my brand new iPad Mini Retina.

    I know you said PC, for for others that have an iMac with USB 3 ports, they can put out extra power to charge an iPad.  (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4049?viewlocale=en_US)

  • I plug my 1 month old iPad mini retina into a uk plug socket using the out of the box charger, it charged from 0-27% in 3 hours and now refuses to charge at all. Any ideas are more than welcome!!!

    I plugged my iPad Mini Retina in to charge this morning in a UK plug socket using the official out of the box charger.
    It charged from 0-27% in roughly 3 hours.
    I have come home to find it is not charging at all, when turned off when I plug the powered cable in it does turn on as if it is receiving power but it does not charge.
    It is 1 month old and hasn't experienced heavy usage as such.

  • Will an iPad mini retina purchased in Spain work and charge in the uk

    I Had to replace two stolen iPad mini retinas whilst on holiday in Spain.  I've been home about a week now and both are very slow to charge at best and will not charge at all on most of my high speed or normal chargers!
    they we're bought in the Apple shop Murcia and at the time I asked the assistant to confirm they would be compatible for working in the uk Which she confirmed that they would!
    is there anything I can do to resolve this?

    Hi Mjj8801,
    Apple’s iPad power adapters are designed to use any power system that falls within 100 - 240V AC, 50 - 60 Hz, 0.15A. See this article -

    Some ideas.

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    In order to resolve this issue where your iPad is not charging, I'd like you to please ensure you are using the correct power adapter as depicted in the support article below, as well as making sure the cord and outlet you are using are both functioning.
  • IPad mini retina volume - what should I say to genuis?
    About ten days back I received a gift of an iPad Mini Retina (32g) from a person I’ve been helping over this past few years. Completely unnecessary; completely taken by surprise; and completely delighted.
    With the exception of an old iPod it is my only other Apple product, I need some advice and views from you hardened Apple guys.
    Early next week I’m seeing one of Apple’s geniuses for several reasons. The main reason is the issue of volume. Like I’ve read on here and on other forums it seems really quite poor.
    I’ve been watching Will Smith in ‘Seven Pounds’ and well it’s just about listenable. If I were to be watching it where there was background noise then I’d probably give up. Yes it is better with ear phones and I haven’t yet got around to streaming it to my TV. I haven’t watched any action films yet but I’m guessing that if there is a gun fight, if buildings are getting burned and blown up there will be no oomph to the sound and sound really is an important part of these films.
    Other than Netflix and Bookshelf  I’ve put no other apps on the machine and I haven’t transferred any of my music onto it, so with the exception of YouTube, which does seem a little better, I can’t judge what the sound is like there.
    Anyway you Apple guys is this a hardware fault, is it a software fault, or to be honest is it just that you can’t expect much volume, much oomph, from a machine of this size?
    I’m not tech minded, and as mentioned above I’ve only got this and an old iPod so I’ve no other Apple products to judge it against.
    What should I be saying to the guy on the genius counter? What questions should I be asking and what should I expect from him?
    I’ve read that these guys can do quite a lot without having to seek authority from above. If this were just a fault on the 32g machine then, if I could negotiate it, I’d quite happily upgrade to the 64g machine.
    If it makes any difference I live in the UK
    Thanks for any advice you can offer, I’m sure I’ll be back!
    Just thinking about my problem today and was thinking that before I go near the genius  desk that I have one of their sales team demonstrate a machine to me, I'd assume that the demo models would be pretty fine tuned.
    Really is a pity about the sound
  • IPad mini Retina touchscreen dead spot
    ok, my iPad mini retina's touchscreen occasionally becomes unresponsive in a small area near the top. hitting the sleep/wake and logging back in always fixes the issue. Anyone know what might be wrong? Maybe in need of a total reset and starting over?
    If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
    First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.
