IPad Mini retina screen orientation problem still not solved?!

I have also been having the screen orientation problem on my iPad Mini retina. I cannot find out what the problem is or how to solve it. The switch does not help it and neither does changing the settings.  Nor does rebooting. Also, the volume on the retina is definitely lower than the ordinal iPad Mini. If I had known this I would've kept the original. I am on IOS 7.1.2.

If you have Reset it, Restored it from Backup and Restored it as new and none of these helped then you will need to get it serviced.

    Reset the device:
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    You will have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.

  • IPad Mini retina - lots of problems with iOS8

    My iPad Mini Retina, which was working flawlessly for the past year, has now started giving trouble after I updated to iOS 8. It reboots every once in a while, after a brief bluish screen (reminds me of the dreaded Windows blue screen of death). This is not linked to any specific app, and happens very very frequently. Besides, many times the iPad freezes for a short while, sometimes the mutitasking gestures don't work... These minor irritants are driving me mad. Make me wonder if Apple has been hasty in releasing iOS8 without adequate testing and debugging.This is persisting despite updating to iOS 8.0.2. Hope Apple finds a fix for this soonest.

    Hi aggi74,
    If you are having issues with unexpected restarts and freezes, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
    First, quit all running applications and test again -
    iOS: Force an app to close
    Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
    Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
    iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Is the iPad Mini Retina screen the same as an iPad Mini screen?

    So my iPad Mini Retina fell between my bed and the wall and one corner cracked. I know right? Stupidest thing ever.
    The crack is not that bad, but I still want it replaced since I bought it 3 weeks ago and saved up foreverrr and it's a shame it cracked
    I want to order my screen on eBay, and I was wondering if I buy a screen for iPad Mini 1 would it still be the same for iPad Mini Retina?
    Thaanks.

    If you replace the screen on your device, which is under warranty, you will void your Apple Warranty.  Apple will not replace the screen, but they will offer an out of warranty replacement for about 1/2 the cost of the device when you bought it.  At least you'd still have your warranty intact.

  • Ipad mini retina screen colours washed out?. Apple has already fixed the issue?

    Hi everyone
    First of all, sorry if i dont write in the best way, i am from Spain and my elglish is medium-basic.
    I am looking to buy an Ipad mini with retina display.
    I readed many reviews from december 2013 that say thar ipad mini 2 screen only covers 63% of adobe srgb colour gamut. Nexus 7 covers 100%
    All this issues where noticed on the end of 2013. I want to know if this is fixed or the problem continues now
    Those of you who have an ipad mini and ipad air too, Can you compare and say me if you notice any colour issue. your ipad mini have to be bought on 2014 becouse its known that ipad mini retina 2013 have the issue.
    Thank! regards

    in terms of colours, i cannot see much difference except saturation being a bit lower on the iPad mini.
    I will agree with this. I have an iPad 3, an iPad 4, an iPad mini (1st gen) and an iPad mini Retina. Direct comparison between the devices reveals lack of color saturation on the mini Retina but it's not as bad as some may make it out to be. I'll also agree about it's looking more natural compared to the others, especialy compared to the iPad 3 & iPad 4 which can almost seem a bit on the garish side as far as saturation goes. It's almost (but not quite) like buying a new LCD TV and using it's default picture setting which is almost always "Dynamic"...and what the stores set it to to get them to "pop" on the display wall. It's nowhere near being a natural image. As was mentioned, yes the saturation is a bit diminished on the mini Retina but I wouldn't consider it much of an issue...
    That being said, I don't know if it has been "corrected" since I don't consider it much of an issue to begin with.

  • Ipad mini retina screen switches to black when used

    The recently bought Ipad Mini retina is showing an irritating problem. Sometimes when used it turns black. As if the top button on the short side has been pressed. It also seems like the switching to black screen is happening when the ipad is tilted (not completely sure about this).
    The Ipad is running with the updated IOS and this isn't happening every time it's being used.
    Anyone who have experienced this on their Ipads?

    Something like the FaceTime screenshot below ? I noticed this since IOS 8. Try double clicking the home button then swiping the app up. Go back to the app to see if the black bar is gone.

  • IPad Mini Retina Screen needs replacing

    I recently dropped and damaged the screen of my iPad Mini Retina and it does need replacing. The iPad is out of warranty.
    Can anyone tell me how much Apple will cost to replace the Mini Retina Screen (I live in the UK) Perhaps I'm not reaching the right websites but I've come across poster saying that it can cost £200 plus to have Apple fix a screen, is this correct?  Third Party firms appear to be doing the same job for much less, but I do appreciate that by going that route Apple will wash their hands of any future faults.
    On their support website Apple have this to say. 'What does it cost? Repair and replacement costs depend on your iPad model and your AppleCare product coverage. Accidental damage isn’t covered under the Apple One Year Limited Warranty. '
    I live in a small town quite a bit away from an official Apple outlet can anyone advise me if Apple licence thrid parties to do repairs, there is a wel established iPhone shop in my town and they do repairs but would these be 'official' repairs?
    I'm sure some members have had cracked screens over the years, what did you do? Let Apple do the fix or go independant?
    As always many thanks for your advice
    Kevin

    This is the US page about Apple's repair policy for iPad screens: https://www.apple.com/support/ipad/repair/screen-damage/
    If you choose to have anyone other than Apple work on the iPad, any and all support for the iPad by Apple won't be available to you anymore.
    For what it's worth, I had an independent company (really just one guy running a shop) repair my iPad's cracked screen. The screen was damaged a few months after I'd purchased the iPad, and I paid around $100 for the work.
    It's just about 3 years old now and the only issue I had was that the front camera didn't work after the screen was replaced. I brought the iPad back and he double-checked his work and got the camera functioning again. I haven't had any other issues.
    If you're willing to take the risk of it being damaged and are OK with paying for a replacement device outright if something goes wrong after the repair, you may as well go with the third-party.
    If you'd like the extra insurance (if you will) of Apple's support being available to you, then pay the ~$200 for them to do the work.

  • Why iPad mini retina smart unlock/lock function not working when I using 3rd party cover with magnetic

    I recently bought a leather case from store with smArt unlock/lock function with magnetic. I try to use it on my iPad mini retina when I try to close and open it doesn't work. I already on my smart unlock function inside setting. May I know where is the magnetic area  of iPad mini retina ?

    The "Lock/Unlock" feature is enabled by installing a compatible Smart Cover/Case (or third-party equivalent) with an embedded magnet in the correct position in the cover. Are you using a real Apple product? If not, the cover/case you are using may not have the magnet in the right place or may not even have one at all.
    If you ARE using a real Apple Smart Cover/Case and you have an Apple Store nearby, have them check both the case and cover you are using. You may have a bad magnectic switch on the iPad or a faulty cover/case.
    I also remember reading here of a Smart Case/Cover which had the magnet installed upside-down and was repelling rather than attracting. You might want to take the cover off and flip it to verify this...you'll have to slide the cover around in different positions on the right-hand bezel on the iPad to see if you can activate the magnet.

  • IPad mini retina screen protector

    I need to get a screen protector for the new iPad mini retina and, after some googling, can't locate anything confirming whether the layout of the screen exactly matches that of the predecesor, iPad mini.  Is the footprint of the two devices exactly the same?

    The screens are exactly the same. I have a Tech Armor HD Screen Protector on my iPad Mini and absolutely love it. You wouldn't even know it was on there if I didn't tell you.

  • I can't change my iPad Mini home screen wallpaper at all, not even a default. I can't change my lock screen either. Help! I'd rather not waste my time bothering with computer programs so please give me a SIMPLE solution if you can.

    How do I change my seemingly unfixable iPad Mini Home Screen and Lock Screen wallpapers?

    I tried that and that is what initially started this. I wanted a new wallpaper for my home screen and it didn't work so I reset it. The wallpaper is now zoomed in, I can't zoom it back out, and I can't change it to the new one I want. Plus, recently I had reset it and it stayed at the Appe logo and didn't move and I got scared that I'd never be able to use it again, I tried random things and it turned on again. I think I was just lucky so I don't want it to happen again. And yes I did look up how to fix it but it was really complicated so I just did what I mentioned.

  • IPad mini home screen freeze problem

    I have a problem with my ipad mini. Sometimes when I close my apps with the four-finger gesture it just freezes during the transition and doesn't respond completely, even when I press and hold the power to turn off. But the home button works for Siri but she doesn't do much, she can't open apps or turn my ipad off. I can also take screen shots but my screen remains frozen on that transition. It eventually runs bettery flat and turns off automatically and when I charge it and switch it on, it works normally. It's happened about 3 times now and I'm not sure if its a hardware or software problem. I'm on iOS 7.0.4

  • IPad mini (Retina) Screen Resolution 1024 or 2048?

    I received my new iPad mini yesterday and noticed when using Safari to test a web app that I'm working on that it was reporting the iPads screen res as 1024 x 768, however in the specs it says that it has a screen res of 2048x1536. Checked with a few screen res checking site and they all said the same.
    Have I been sent the wrong iPad or am I missing something?

    Appreciate the replies Diavonex, however it's not just the checking websites, it's my own code that I know works reporting it as 1024, and sites that I know are optimised for 1024 are showing full screen on the iPad, when if the screen was truly 2048 there would be whitespace to the sides - try bbc.co.uk - full screen no border on iPad, but on Mac Mini with HD monitor (reporting the screen size as 1920 x 1080) there is lots of whitespace.
    I agree all the documentation from Apple states 2048, and the screen is indeed very clear when you zoom in, however industry standard screen tests (JavaScript screen.width) indicate it is 1024. I was expecting to find an * in the specs next to screen res with some caveat about apple having their own definition of screen res but I can't find anything.

  • X11 Yellow-Cursor Problem: Still Not Solved

    Sorry for bringing this up again, but previous discussions (search for "X11 yellow cursor") are not active anymore, and the problem is unsolved. Let me briefly restate it for those who just joined in:
    When displaying X11 windows from Linux machines on Intel Macs using Apple's X-server, the cursor turns into a hardly visible yellow something. Apparently, the cause is related to some wrong assumption about the Endianness.
    There used to be a patch available (http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060316124704289), but it was superseded by Apple's latest X11 update. The alternative solution suggested in that article (fiddling with the icon set on the Linux side) seems not work reliably - it doesn't for me.
    So the present situation is very unsatisfactory. I just bought iMacs for my research group and myself. Having tested all the software we need for our daily work (which includes X11) on my Powerbook G4, I thought I would be on the safe side. Now, we've run into this Intel-specific bug, which annoyingly enough seems to be understood and solved, but Apple decided not to correct it in its latest X11 release.
    I would highly appreciate any suggestions how to work around the problem for the time being. And I hope that somebody at Apple is reading this: The usefulness of Macs in a Linux/Unix-dominated scientific-computing environment critically depends on the availability of a reliable, stable X11 implementation.

    Hi Hans,
    but it was superseded by Apple's latest X11 update.
    What do you mean by "superseded"? The patch
    http://homepage.mac.com/lycestra/yellowcursor.patch
    works well with the latest Apple's X11 source code.
    Just download X11-0.46.4.tar.gz from
    http://www.opensource.apple.com/darwinsource/10.4.9.x86/
    and put it in the same directory as yellowcursor.patch
    Then you can apply the patch as follows:
    $ tar zxvf X11-0.46.4.tar.gz
    $ cd X11-0.46.4
    $ patch -p1 < ../yellowcursor.patch
    Now you can build everything by
    $ cd xc
    $ make World >& logfile
    I guess it will take 20 to 30 minutes.
    (build may be faster if you add some definitions into config/cf/host.def)
    After the build, don't run "make install". Instead, just install the new Xquartz. Be sure to backup the origianl:
    $ sudo mv /usr/X11R6/bin/Xquartz /usr/X11R6/bin/Xquartz.ORG
    $ sudo cp -n programs/Xserver/Xquartz /usr/X11R6/bin/
    You may compare the output of xdpyinfo and glxinfo before and after installing it. I have noticed any performance difference between the original and the new Xquartz.

  • IPad mini retina - The connected device requires too much power.

    Hi,
    I just bought the IDJ Live 2 Controller on 6 march 2014.
    when I connect the lightning cable to the ipad and idj live 2, it shows me an error.
    Unable to use the device: The connected device requires too much power.
    i use the original cable from numark idj, my configuration is:
    ipad mini retina ios 7.0.6 - idj live 2.
    I tried with iPhone 4, it works well. (same ios)
    I also have a sd card lighting adapter and it works on the iPad mini retina.
    Currently it is not possible to power the lightining cable..
    maybe in future, will Apple increase the output current through new ios?

    No, because the other end of the lighining cable has a mini usb (type b) connector.
