IPad mini retina screen protector

I need to get a screen protector for the new iPad mini retina and, after some googling, can't locate anything confirming whether the layout of the screen exactly matches that of the predecesor, iPad mini.  Is the footprint of the two devices exactly the same?

The screens are exactly the same. I have a Tech Armor HD Screen Protector on my iPad Mini and absolutely love it. You wouldn't even know it was on there if I didn't tell you.

I Purchase iPad mini retina screen on July 7 2014 at Malaysia local apple sale agent switch store somehow now my iPad did restore to latest iOS 7.1.2, before that and after also facing 1new issue is my iPad mini cant success download apps and error message show can't download at this time, either retry or click done. Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You will have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • IPad Mini Retina Screen needs replacing

I recently dropped and damaged the screen of my iPad Mini Retina and it does need replacing. The iPad is out of warranty.
Can anyone tell me how much Apple will cost to replace the Mini Retina Screen (I live in the UK) Perhaps I'm not reaching the right websites but I've come across poster saying that it can cost £200 plus to have Apple fix a screen, is this correct?  Third Party firms appear to be doing the same job for much less, but I do appreciate that by going that route Apple will wash their hands of any future faults.
On their support website Apple have this to say. 'What does it cost? Repair and replacement costs depend on your iPad model and your AppleCare product coverage. Accidental damage isn’t covered under the Apple One Year Limited Warranty. '
I live in a small town quite a bit away from an official Apple outlet can anyone advise me if Apple licence thrid parties to do repairs, there is a wel established iPhone shop in my town and they do repairs but would these be 'official' repairs?
I'm sure some members have had cracked screens over the years, what did you do? Let Apple do the fix or go independant?
As always many thanks for your advice
    Kevin

This is the US page about Apple's repair policy for iPad screens: https://www.apple.com/support/ipad/repair/screen-damage/
If you choose to have anyone other than Apple work on the iPad, any and all support for the iPad by Apple won't be available to you anymore.
For what it's worth, I had an independent company (really just one guy running a shop) repair my iPad's cracked screen. The screen was damaged a few months after I'd purchased the iPad, and I paid around $100 for the work.
It's just about 3 years old now and the only issue I had was that the front camera didn't work after the screen was replaced. I brought the iPad back and he double-checked his work and got the camera functioning again. I haven't had any other issues.
If you're willing to take the risk of it being damaged and are OK with paying for a replacement device outright if something goes wrong after the repair, you may as well go with the third-party.
If you'd like the extra insurance (if you will) of Apple's support being available to you, then pay the ~$200 for them to do the work.

  • Is the iPad Mini Retina screen the same as an iPad Mini screen?

So my iPad Mini Retina fell between my bed and the wall and one corner cracked. I know right? Stupidest thing ever.
The crack is not that bad, but I still want it replaced since I bought it 3 weeks ago and saved up foreverrr and it's a shame it cracked
I want to order my screen on eBay, and I was wondering if I buy a screen for iPad Mini 1 would it still be the same for iPad Mini Retina?
    Thaanks.

If you replace the screen on your device, which is under warranty, you will void your Apple Warranty.  Apple will not replace the screen, but they will offer an out of warranty replacement for about 1/2 the cost of the device when you bought it.  At least you'd still have your warranty intact.

  • Ipad mini retina screen colours washed out?. Apple has already fixed the issue?

    Hi everyone
First of all, sorry if i dont write in the best way, i am from Spain and my elglish is medium-basic.
I am looking to buy an Ipad mini with retina display.
I readed many reviews from december 2013 that say thar ipad mini 2 screen only covers 63% of adobe srgb colour gamut. Nexus 7 covers 100%
All this issues where noticed on the end of 2013. I want to know if this is fixed or the problem continues now
Those of you who have an ipad mini and ipad air too, Can you compare and say me if you notice any colour issue. your ipad mini have to be bought on 2014 becouse its known that ipad mini retina 2013 have the issue.
    Thank! regards

in terms of colours, i cannot see much difference except saturation being a bit lower on the iPad mini.
I will agree with this. I have an iPad 3, an iPad 4, an iPad mini (1st gen) and an iPad mini Retina. Direct comparison between the devices reveals lack of color saturation on the mini Retina but it's not as bad as some may make it out to be. I'll also agree about it's looking more natural compared to the others, especialy compared to the iPad 3 & iPad 4 which can almost seem a bit on the garish side as far as saturation goes. It's almost (but not quite) like buying a new LCD TV and using it's default picture setting which is almost always "Dynamic"...and what the stores set it to to get them to "pop" on the display wall. It's nowhere near being a natural image. As was mentioned, yes the saturation is a bit diminished on the mini Retina but I wouldn't consider it much of an issue...
That being said, I don't know if it has been "corrected" since I don't consider it much of an issue to begin with.

  • Ipad mini retina screen switches to black when used

The recently bought Ipad Mini retina is showing an irritating problem. Sometimes when used it turns black. As if the top button on the short side has been pressed. It also seems like the switching to black screen is happening when the ipad is tilted (not completely sure about this).
The Ipad is running with the updated IOS and this isn't happening every time it's being used.
Anyone who have experienced this on their Ipads?

Something like the FaceTime screenshot below ? I noticed this since IOS 8. Try double clicking the home button then swiping the app up. Go back to the app to see if the black bar is gone.

  • IPad Mini retina screen orientation problem still not solved?!

I have also been having the screen orientation problem on my iPad Mini retina. I cannot find out what the problem is or how to solve it. The switch does not help it and neither does changing the settings.  Nor does rebooting. Also, the volume on the retina is definitely lower than the ordinal iPad Mini. If I had known this I would've kept the original. I am on IOS 7.1.2.

If you have Reset it, Restored it from Backup and Restored it as new and none of these helped then you will need to get it serviced.

  • Does ipad mini need screen protector

Does the ipad mini need a screen protector

It doesn't need one, it's down to personal preference - some people don't like using them on any iPad due to how they affect the touch/texture of the screen, personally I use one on my 3rd gen iPad as it gives the screen a bit of extra protection (and I prefer its texture over just the glass)

  • IPad mini (Retina) Screen Resolution 1024 or 2048?

I received my new iPad mini yesterday and noticed when using Safari to test a web app that I'm working on that it was reporting the iPads screen res as 1024 x 768, however in the specs it says that it has a screen res of 2048x1536. Checked with a few screen res checking site and they all said the same.
Have I been sent the wrong iPad or am I missing something?

Appreciate the replies Diavonex, however it's not just the checking websites, it's my own code that I know works reporting it as 1024, and sites that I know are optimised for 1024 are showing full screen on the iPad, when if the screen was truly 2048 there would be whitespace to the sides - try bbc.co.uk - full screen no border on iPad, but on Mac Mini with HD monitor (reporting the screen size as 1920 x 1080) there is lots of whitespace.
I agree all the documentation from Apple states 2048, and the screen is indeed very clear when you zoom in, however industry standard screen tests (JavaScript screen.width) indicate it is 1024. I was expecting to find an * in the specs next to screen res with some caveat about apple having their own definition of screen res but I can't find anything.

  • After updating my ipad mini retina to 8.1.2, my device experiences blue screen of death at random times.

After updating my ipad mini retina to 8.1.2, my device experiences blue screen of death at random times. It is so annoying plus there are applications that keeps on crashing such as brother in arms by gameloft so i have no choice but to reinstall it all over again.. But after quite some time the apps will crash again.. Argh it's a cycle. so annoying..

Hi  It sounds like a bug. Go to settings iCloud backup over your WiFi Then Restore back to Factory Settings. After Restore use same Apple ID then you will get all your apps & data back. Do Restore over your WiFi. Since ios 7 Almost everything can be done over WiFi you don't need to use your PC. Cheers Brian

  • IPad mini Retina refuses to go into Dual Screen mode on AppleTV. Any Solutions?

I've tried many games such as "Real Racing 2 HD" or "Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy" - the iPad mini Retina just mirrors the image (in a bad quality) but shows the same on the TV and the iPad... On the iPhone 5 or the iPad 2 it switches correctly into the Dual Screen Mode as soon as the app launches - the iPad mini refuses to do so...
Is this a (software) bug of the iPad mini Retina in general or is it a hardware issue with my mini retina?
The Apple Photo-App works just fine and also the music playback over the TV-Speaker works properly.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
On the basis that you get poor quality mirroring when things do work, you presumably have network problems, it may be worth investigating these and solving them before troubleshooting the iPad mini.

  • Do i need screeguard for ipad mini retina?

i got new ipad mini retina and to protect its screen from dust do i need a screen guard or it doesn't need ?
if yes please suggest which brand should i buy in Indian market. i am confused.

It's a personal preference thing. I've always had one. I figure that it's an expensive device and I like to protect it. Others swear to never use one and never have.
I would suggest, if you do get one, don't get a cheap no-name off amazon. I have a Zagg protector on mine (not sure if they're available in India but they do have a website). They are expensive - my iPad 2 one cost me $30, however they're guaranteed for life.

  • Is iPad mini 2 screen glass or LCD??

Is the iPad mini 2 screen a glass or an LCD??
With my first iPad mini - I bought a glass screen protector and used it with the iPad straight out the box. A short while later I had to return this as it was displaying yellow screen issues.
My second iPad mini that I received, I also applied a glass screen saver from first use but this also had to be returned for the same reason.
I'm now onto my 3rd iPad mini with retina and because I've wasted two screen savers (at £14.99 each) I've decided to wait to see if this one is ok before I buy/waste another screen protector .
When my son was using it I noticed that when he was dragging things across the screen it had that blurb of colour that you get when you press an LCD screen.
I assumed the iPad mini 2 had a tougher glass screen (than you would get with an LCD) in which case you wouldn't expect to get that effect when you pressed it.
Because I have never used the previous two iPads with just their own screen I can't compare.
I don't know if this is normal for the type of screens that the iPad mini 2 has or if it is a fault in mine.
    Can anybody verify please???
    Thanks in advance.

Think it has a fault then as it doesn't take a hard press, firm yes, but not overly firm.
When he was doing a click and drag on one of the games and I noticed I tried it and it didn't take a hard press to distort it. Because I've always used a glass screen protector I wasn't sure if that was normal or whether there was a fault with it. It must have a fault then. Oh well looks like another return!!!
Really disappointed. Waited months for the mini 2 release, bought on release day and this is third one and looks like going on to 4th!
Like I say, my sons tv does it but his screen isn't glass and I thought a glass screen prevented that. That's why I was unsure of the ipad screen. Was pretty certain they had glass screens but wouldn't have expected the screen to distort with a press.
    Thanks for your advice. :)
