IPad mini shuts down unexpectedly after ios7  why.

My mini shuts down unexpectedly after installing iOS 7. Happens during app use, email, web etc. no warning and takes 1 to 2 min to boot back up.

I have JUST started experiencing the same problems where I'll insert a DVD and the computer may or +may not+ shut down unexpectedly in the middle of playing. When I try to restart with the dvd still in the laptop, it may also shut down again before I can successfully log in. This has also happened with several different DVDs over the last 4 days, so I don't think it's tied to the DVD itself...
I also have the computer on, plugged in, with the battery taken out, and with an external harddrive and mouse plugged in. Are the peripherals making it worse?
I bought my macbook in the US with a 3 year applecare plan and am now living in Beijing, China. I would like to be able to get this issue fixed, but don't know where to begin with calling a place in China. What is the protocol?

  • Macbook shuts down unexpectedly after an hour of use

I've had my MacBook since 2006, and I've had some minor problems now and then.
But since few days ago, my mac shuts down unexpectedly after I use it for about an hour.
at first I thought that maybe it's the fan, cause I've never cleaned the fan since the day I've bought it and my mac gets pretty hot after a while. but it used to work just fine when it got even hotter.
now I'm guessing maybe it's the battery? I've also never replaced the battery to a new one, cause I've almost always used power adapter instead of using battery alone. but I think I've heard it somewhere that the battery still dies even when you only use power adapter. is this true?
I usually just turn mac right back on when it shuts down, and it goes well for about 30 mins and then it shuts down again.
could anyone please be kind enough to tell me if it is the battery that's causing this such a frustrating problem? I don't know if this would help figure out the problem, but this is what battery info says,
    Battery Information:
    Battery Installed: Yes
    First low level warning: No
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 3674
    Remaining Capacity (mAh): 3648
    Amperage (mA): 0
    Voltage (mV): 12443
    Cycle Count: 105

Thank you so much for answering! I've actually read your answer to other similar forum, and have just installed iStatPro. it says that my fan is "exhaust" and at 0rpm. do i HAVE to replace the fan to a new one? can I just open up my mac and clean out the fan? if so, would you recommend this instead of buying a new fan? one last thing, if I buy a new fan, is it easy for me to replace it by myself? again, thank you so much for your answer.

  • Facebook shuts down unexpectedly after a few minutes.

When using Facebook on Safari, Google Chrome or the app it shuts down unexpectedly after a few minutes.  I tried restarting my iPad, reloading the app & deleting the cookies.  It's frustrating.

Humm.... my first thought is that the new iMac's only come in 21.5 and 27" and the second is that your not giving us much to go on. You know things like, it ran fine for the first hour, day, week, month, I checked the power cord to make sure that the connections are tight, I followed the User's Guide, it was working fine until I upgraded the RAM, plugged in my printer, an External Hard Drive, I started having this problem after I downloaded xxxx, it fell off the desk, I dropped it down the stairs on the way from the car to the house, the UPS driver kicked it off the back of the truck, you know the basic stuff like that.

Because there is something wrong with the iPad? Try restoring the device with iTunes. Start with that.

  • MY mac mini shut down unexpectedly and now it won't restart properly

My mac mini shut down unexpectedly.  When I restarted it the screen turns blue and a box pops up that advises "Finder quit unexpectedly".  It gives me an option to ignore, Report, or Reopen.  The cursor works, but none of those button work.  I'm stuck on this screen.  I tried all the support suggestions with no luck.  What else can I do?

The "worm" as you call it is usually referred to as a Thermometer progress bar. It is showing that your Hard Drive cannot be mounted, and a Disk Utility (Repair Disk) is taking place. If not successful, your Mac will shut down, since it cannot be started up successfully.
You have unresolved Damage to the Disk Directory.
If you do not have Backups, making them should be Top Priority.
Otherwise, boot your Mac from an alternate Boot Drive. If you do not already have one, buy a drive to replace the Internal Drive currently inside your Mac, and an External enclosure to run it in. Install Mac OS X on it and boot your Mac from the fresh Install.
Then you can attempt to repair or salvage from the old drive at your leisure, using the full power of Mac OS X to do so. When your situation is stable, swap the Internal and External drives.

  • MacBook Shuts Down Unexpectedly After Inserting DVD

I was about to watch my new TRANSFORMERS movie on DVD and after about 3 minutes of watching, my MacBook just shuts down immediately, so i tried the second time. My Macbook Air (iOS 10.9.5, 1.3 GHz, 4 GB) has shut down unexpectedly twice when an application has crashed: first with Firefox (32.0.3) and second with Preview (7.0). With Firefox I was using some regular web apps and browsing sites. With Preview I was cropping a picture.
This has never happened with my previous Macs. Is this normal?

  • Mini shuts down just after start up

    Any advice would be appreciated.
My mini seems to start up OK (chime, light, no flashing) but after a few seconds, it shuts down. The monitor never has a chance to come on. After repeatingly trying to turn it on, it eventually does come on with no visible problems.
I have unplugged and repluggd cables, removed connections to my USB network, reset the PRAM, checked drive capacity, checked keyboard for stuck keys, ran a virus checks, etc. I have no software that automatically comes on at start up rather than Norton Antivirus.
I am using a USB hub and it powers up when the computer does and shuts down at the same time. It, however, is self powered and the Mac Mini acts the same way even when disconnected from the hub.
    OS: 10.4.8

L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB

    Bus Speed: 167 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.9.4f1
My set up has been working well for a year. Any ideas?

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
Your power management unit (PMU) settings may have become corrupted. See this Apple note to do a reset: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300574 . When you say you reset the PRAM, is this the procedure you followed?
Have you tried a safe boot? First unhook everything but a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Boot while holding down the shift key. This triggers some background maintenance that may help get you going.
If that doesn't fix it, I might try to run the Apple hardware test, if your machine has power long enough to swallow a CD. Insert the first OS X CD that came with your system and reboot holding the option key down. Choose Apple hardware test, and when prompted, the extended test. If you're able to run it, does it tell you anything?

  • Macbook Pro shutting down unexpectedly after new OSX 10.9 download.

I bought my MacBook Pro in mid 2010 area. I had 10.6.8 version on it. I recently when the new operating system came out, I decided to upgrade and download it. Everything was fine, nothing slowed down or changed. However, recently my computer has shut down every couple of weeks or so unexpectadly then rebooted all on its own and have everything I was working on be back to where it was. I copied the code down to try and figure it out. Nothing has come up in Google, so I'm wondering if anyone here would be able to help. As a last resort, i'm going to probably have to factory reset my computer, but if anyone knows what is going on, i'd love the help. Here is the error report code I recieved:

Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pros - the bad NVIDIA GPU
If you're having frequent kernel panics with your 15" mid-2010, or intermittent screen problems, the problem is, more than likely, the faulty NVIDIA GPU found in a number of those machines.
Here's just a sample of a kernel panic log that points to the faulty NVIDIA card:
Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):
             com.apple.GeForce(6.4.0)@0x82ac4000->0x82b7afff
                dependency: com.apple.NVDAResman(6.4.0)@0x834a0000

Here's the "official" Apple take on the issue - but the very real kernel panics need not be preceded by 'Intermittent black screen or loss of video'... in fact, you might not experience any video problems at all. Although video problems can certainly be a portent of things to come…
So what can you do? Print out a copy of your kernel panic and a copy of the Knowledge Base article and take them, along with your machine, to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. The unfortunate thing is that many people have passed the “three years from date of purchase” now and Apple is not honoring the free logic board replacement for many users. Some dealers seem to be making some exceptions for those past the three year mark, but don’t count on it…
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Imac shutting down unexpectedly after 20 minutes

G3 imac with 10.4 OS screen does blank and on-off switch start 'fluttering' quickly and cannot restart unless computer has been shut off for 30 minutes.
Tried to reload 10.4 from CD but computer shuts down before fully loaded?
Is this a hardware or software problem?
    Any advice?

I'd suggest you try asking in the iMac (CRT) area. This forum is for the new Intel-based iMac Core Duo and so perhaps not the most likely place for you to get a quick and accurate response.
    Good luck.
