IPAD MINI UPPER VOLUME BUTTON STUCK..HELP??!

My iPad mini (it has a Smart Cover on,front only)  fell from a dressing table onto very soft carpet, however the upper volume key has stopped working, supposedly jammed? But there isn't the volume icon on the screen. I don't have warranty on it, so if I take it into the store what will they do and how much will it cost?
Thankyou x

Hey Oliviamarylou,
Thanks for the question. The following resource provides basic information on iPad repairs. However, in all honesty you may want to take the device into the store to have the issue diagnosed.

  • IPad mini top volume button stuck

My son just received the ipad mini for Christmas and the top volume button is stuck. Do I just take this back to the place it was purchased to get it repaired?

Oh, well, it may matter. You would have to ask the retailer what their policy is.

  • IPad Mini decrease volume button suddenly stuck down... Overuse?

A few nights ago, as I was watching YouTube, my decrease volume button on my 1st Gen iPad Mini got jammed down suddenly... It literally was working perfectly moments before. If you press down hard you can still turn the volume down, but it seems to just be stuck down. My Mini has always been in a case (looks brand new, no dents and such) and the power, increase volume buttons still 'click' and work perfectly but I've had it since Christmas 2012 so I think it could just be overuse. Any ideas on how to repair it?
    Thank you!

    Hello thisiscourtney-
I’m not sure if Apple still performs repairs on 1st Gen iPads anymore, but my recommendation would be to take it to an Apple store or contact Apple directly here for more assistance.
My guess is that most likely it would be uneconomical to fix, but that’s obviously your decision.
    Thanks for posting!

  • Ipad mini loose volume buttons

I had my ipad mini with retina display for 2 weeks now and my volume buttons are loose. I'm very happy with my ipad but the fact that my volume buttons are loose just bothers and I would hate to go back to apple to complain about such a small issue. Is there a possibility for the loose volume button to break in the future?

It might. You need to make an appointment at your local apple store, take it in and have them look at it. Before you go in, be sure to back everything up because apple stores don't repair in store, they swap your malfunctioning device for a replacement.

  • Ipad Volume Button Stuck/Dented

My iPad 2's volume button is stuck/dented, not sure how it happened but it's dented in in the middle and it's stuck on the volume up and I can't click it to turn the volume down. I heard it's expensive to bring it into the store to fix, anyone have ideas how to undent it/unstuck it?
    Thanks!

TThe volume button on an iPad 2 is a rocker type switch. It is lower in the center and that may be what you think is a dent. Try alternately pushing the up or down side of the switch while lightly pushing a little up or down. Hopefully this will free the switch. An Apple technician may be able to correct this problem Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Having a technician look at the iPad won't cost you anything and the switch might be easily fixed.

  • The upper volume button on my iPhone 4s is not working

I had a case on it that pressed against my volume buttons. When I took the case off, the upper volume button stopped working. The lower volume works just fine. Whenever I push the upper volume, nothing happens. The volume works both ways if I touch the on screen volume on my music screen. My headphone volume works fine too. But when I have to talk on the phone without headphones, I can't turn the volume up and it's hard to hear my caller.

If you decide to get your phone serviced, Apple will give you a refurbished phone, if your phone is eligible for Out-of-Warranty service.
    Out-of-Warranty Service
If you own an iPhone that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will service your iPhone for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below.
    iPhone model
    Out-of-Warranty Service
    iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c,
    iPhone 5
    $269
    iPhone 4S
    $199
    iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS,
    iPhone 3G, Original iPhone
    $149
However, there are 3rd party repair shops for iPhones as well, but once they opened the phone, Apple will not service your phone anymore, in case something goes wrong.

  • Volume buttons stuck! Any idea what to do?

Volume buttons stuck! Any idea what to do?

You could try leaving it in an airing cupboard for a few days to dry out thoroughly
Some people also say to put it in a bag of rice .....
People also argue that you should not use a blower such as a hair dryer to dry it out as this can mess things up even more
Personally I am not interested in the bickering people have about this and when this happens to me or people I know I just leave it in the airing cupboard, probably 50% success rate....
IF this fails and it is broken for good:
you can take it to an Apple store and give them the iPod along with a fee and they will give you a fully functional REFURBISHED model
or you can trade it in for 10% off a NEW model of any type apart from iPod shuffle. Does not matter if it is completely destroyed you can still get 10% off (at least at my local Apple store you can)

  • IPad volume button stuck

I purchased my iPad from eBay for a decent price, it was listed as For Parts or Not Working. The only reason it was listed under the condition is because the volume up button is stuck. The rest of the iPad is great! I would rate the body a 9/10 and the screen a 10/10. So far, the only temporary solution I've found is to manually lower the volume, which worked, but I'd like to be able to watch movies and go on YouTube with this thing. The problem with that: when the volume is on, the sound effects icon shows on the screen and won't go away. I tried to chat with customer support already, but the chat window didn't load properly and I don't know if my local Apple store will tell me how much it'll cost to fix without charging me a consultation fee (just to do an online chat, I would've been charged $19!).
So, please, if anyone can tell me what the cost would be to fix the button, I would appreciate the info.
    Thanks!

  • My iPad mini is dead. Please help. I have tried pressing the home and lock buttons, it just wont work.

    Hi,
Last week, whilst charging my ipad mini, I took a look at it was charged upto 91%. I then decided to let it continue charging till 100% and would unplug it then. 30 Minutes later, I returned to my charger to find a dead ipad.
I tried everything (including pressing the home and lock screen) but it would not wake up. I then promptly took it to the service centre at Plaza Singapura and the customer service personnel said I would either need to pay SGD 450 for a replacement or alternatively just leave it as it is, dead.
Hence, I am urging the person reading this message to kindly suggest a better solution to re-awaken my dead iPad and also my faith in the company.
    Thanks

If the Apple Authorised Service Provider has quoted you an out of warranty service fee then they have most likely found a hardware fault. If that is the case the iPad does need to be serviced, whether it is with the Service Provider or a 3rd party company is up to you. Keep in mind going with a 3rd party option can cause you to be denied serviced from Apple in any future services.

  • HT4061 I can't use my ipad mini.  All buttons are frozen including the on and off, can't even find the serial number, can't see it on the back, can't find it under settings because no buttons will work.  Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

My ipad mini is frozen and won't allow me to use any buttons.  I can't access settings to get the serial number for Apple Support and I can't read the serial number from the back.  It's too small and shadowy.  There is a message that reads "ICloud Backup--This ipad hasn't been backed up in 2 weeks.  Back ups happen when this ipad is plugged in,locked, and connected to Wi-Fi."
It won't allow me to shut if off using the on and off button.  I stuck a paper clip into the tiny reset button, but nothing happens.
Has anyone else had this problem?  Please help,
    Vmcalpin

This is the most common "fix" when devices are behaving strangely. It only takes a minute and there's no risk of lost data. This is the reason you'll see this fix being suggested so often.

  • IPad mini retina volume - what should I say to genuis?

About ten days back I received a gift of an iPad Mini Retina (32g) from a person I’ve been helping over this past few years. Completely unnecessary; completely taken by surprise; and completely delighted.
With the exception of an old iPod it is my only other Apple product, I need some advice and views from you hardened Apple guys.
Early next week I’m seeing one of Apple’s geniuses for several reasons. The main reason is the issue of volume. Like I’ve read on here and on other forums it seems really quite poor.
I’ve been watching Will Smith in ‘Seven Pounds’ and well it’s just about listenable. If I were to be watching it where there was background noise then I’d probably give up. Yes it is better with ear phones and I haven’t yet got around to streaming it to my TV. I haven’t watched any action films yet but I’m guessing that if there is a gun fight, if buildings are getting burned and blown up there will be no oomph to the sound and sound really is an important part of these films.
Other than Netflix and Bookshelf  I’ve put no other apps on the machine and I haven’t transferred any of my music onto it, so with the exception of YouTube, which does seem a little better, I can’t judge what the sound is like there.
Anyway you Apple guys is this a hardware fault, is it a software fault, or to be honest is it just that you can’t expect much volume, much oomph, from a machine of this size?
I’m not tech minded, and as mentioned above I’ve only got this and an old iPod so I’ve no other Apple products to judge it against.
What should I be saying to the guy on the genius counter? What questions should I be asking and what should I expect from him?
I’ve read that these guys can do quite a lot without having to seek authority from above. If this were just a fault on the 32g machine then, if I could negotiate it, I’d quite happily upgrade to the 64g machine.
If it makes any difference I live in the UK
Thanks for any advice you can offer, I’m sure I’ll be back!

Just thinking about my problem today and was thinking that before I go near the genius  desk that I have one of their sales team demonstrate a machine to me, I'd assume that the demo models would be pretty fine tuned.
Really is a pity about the sound

  • IPad mini not charging. Please help. :-/

    Hey there,
I just purchased an iPad mini and I plugged it into my windows laptop (Toshiba) for the first time. I was able to sync it up with my iTunes and everything without a problem. But then I noticed that on my actual iPad mini where it shows the energy level on the upper right hand side, it says "Not Charging." And this is while my iPad IS plugged into my laptop. So it should be charged. Is there something in the settings or in iTunes that I have to do in order to get my iPad mini to charge right? Thanks for any help you can give me. I appreciate it.
    ---JohnnyCloud81

Thanks for the tip deggie. I tried that. I don't think that's the issue. I have an iPhone 5 that uses the same USB port on my laptop and my iPhone 5 charges from there normally without a problem. I also should mention that I tried charging my iPad mini using the A/C adaptor and it was charging fine. So I'm not sure why my iPad mini is refusing to charge off my laptop. So confusing....
