IPad mini - Waiting 10 minutes in "waiting to sync" state

Hi all,
My wife's iPad mini is taking what I consider an extremly long time to sync with iTunes. I'm on the newest version of iTunes (11.0.3.42) x64 for Windows 7. This is an iPad mini 32GB model.
The iPad has wifi sync disabled and I have tried multiple USB ports (both 3.0 and 2.0) on my PC. For comparison my iPad 2 syncs very quickly and does not exhibit the same behavior.
The main symptom of the iPad mini is when connecting to iTunes and initiating a sync operation, it sits in the stage of "waiting to sync" for nearly 10 minutes before proceeding. During this time iTunes also functions erratically occasionally completely locking up (although that may just be the normal behavior). Once it begins transfering data I would say it is also signficantly slower than my iPad 2, but I haven't baselined the performance so that may just be my own perception.
Does anyone else have this type of behavior when syncing a device and if not are there any suggestions? I have restored the iPad mini but I have not deleted all backups and tried a fresh sync with iTunes.

That is Activation Lock.
You have to contact the previous owner to have him remove it

IOS 8.1 (iPad mini) and Yosemite (MacBook) don't sync using iCloud

iPad mini (new) using IOS 8.1 and MacBook late 2008 using Yosemite do not sync using iCloud. iCloud created with both devices and iCal and Contacts selected but iCloud is empty in Finder.

iTunes is a mess. On the sidebar on the left there is a "On My Device" section. It shows everything *except* the apps. Above that there is a "settings" section. That's where the apps are. That's a "setting"?
The device handling needs a complete overhaul. There are many many people who have had an iPad or iPhone for some time, but do not own a Mac. Based on climbing Mac sales, clearly some of those people are deciding "I like this iPhone so much I'm going to get a Mac!" So they get one and run into this train wreck.
Even now, with the iPad selected, I go to the View menu, select View Options..., and.....nothing. No window, no dialog, no indication of anything. Turns out that menu item is not applicable when a device is selected. Even with the original 128k Mac (my first Mac) they had this sorted out - dim the menu item when it's not applicable. Here we are 30 years later and they get it wrong.

HELP !! My ipad mini and iphone 5 just stopped syncing calendar with outlook 2007 calendar.

All apple devices are at current OS levels and no changes have been made except to calendar entries. I recently added a bunch of new appointments to outlook and then used my ipad to insert an appointment that was sent to me by email from american airlines. I have done a hard boot (held done the off button till dark) on both devices. I have checked my sync settings in itunes - set to sync all calendars. I have tried both iphone 5 and ipad mini using the automatic sync when device is attached and also by hitting the sync button in itunes. I do not use the icloud, but both devices backup to my windows 7 computer. Calendar is my most important app, as I use it to keep my day organized and to make it to appointments. Not being able to sync is a disaster. Need help, can't think of what else to try.

More - Information - Also tried the advanced setting to replace the ipad calendar with the outlook calendar - did not work and ran the Diagnostic test for sync and no errors found - says it works. Extremely frustrated.

Music on my ipad mini is suddenly gone with iTunes syncing and automatic canceling

When I sync my ipad mini to iTunes, it goes through all the steps then on the last one it suddenly says "canceling sync" and it goes on like that. Then, I found out that my music on my ipad was suddenly gone with that happening. I tried to put songs again on my ipad and it goes smoothly at first, but on some other time on putting songs, it happens again!! This happens atleast 4 times and I'm being frustrated by this! You cannot enable iTunes Match on the iPad. iTunes Match uploads your iTunes library from the computer into the cloud and it will replace the music that is on the iPad. You need a third party app that will transfer the music back into iTunes on your PC.

IPad Mini 2 and iPhone 5s message syncing question

My friend and I were on vacation in Japan over the last two weeks. He took his Verizon iPhone 5s with him to Japan, but left his iPad Mini at home. While in Japan, his nephew sent him a text message. It was received on the iPad Mini which had service, but not on the iPhone which did not have service in Japan. The Verizon phones apparently aren't compatible with the cell systems in Japan. He never connected it to wifi either which was an option. My question is should the messages received on the iPad sync once he has returned home? My thought is that they would not, but I wondered if anyone had a definitive answer.

What are you trying to accomplish? Connecting a phone to a Mac is only supported for tethering.

Iphone 5C and Ipad Mini Retina icloud tabs do not sync?

I have icloud for safari turned on on my iphone 5c and my ipad mini. When I open a website on my iphone 5c I can not see that website on my ipad mini when I hit the icloud icon. Also when I open a website on my ipad mini in safari it wont show that website on my 5c but instead show a website that I opened on my ipad mini a week ago. I tried rebooting the iphone and ipad, I tried signing out of icloud on both devices and signing back in, I turned off icloud and then turned it back on on both devices and nothing seems to be working to get them to sync. Is this a common problem with the new iOS update or am I just going crazy over something stupid?

If you are talking about iCloud tabs, check to make sure you haven't inadvertently turned on private browsing on one or both of your devices. When you do, they will stop syncing iCloud tabs until private browsing is turned off again.

My itunes on my laptop only sees my ipad mini as a camera so cannot sync

I cannot sync my new ipad mini to itunes as itunes is only recognising it as a camera and comes up with Autoplay asking me to import photos. Have gone through the apple procedures of restarting everything etc etc but still not happening. Help. My ipad mini shows me all my purchases but I want to have some of my downloads in my itunes library on my ipad.

Why can't I sync my iTunes library from my MacBook Pro to my iPad Mini?

I have just updated my MacBook Pro with the latest iTunes, something I swore I would never do. But I had to do it in order to sync my iTunes library with my new iPad Mini. Unfortunately, after waiting 23 minutes for the software update, I STILL can't sync my music! The only songs I can see on my iPad Mini are songs I've purchased from the iTunes Store...all two of them. The remaining hundreds of songs simply don't show up. C'mon Apple, the reason I use a Mac platform is because it just always works, unlike MicroSucks. Is this what we can expect in a post-Jobs world...?

Click on your ipad in the upper right- this takes you to your summary page.
click on music tab at the top.
UNcheck all music and apply/sync.
When that is done, REcheck everything, and sync again. This usually works.

This is not a virus. This is usually the result of someone trying to guess your iPad's passcode lock and getting it wrong repeatedly. I'm not sure what causes it to escalate to such high numbers in some cases, but regardless, I don't think that you'll be able to unlock it. You'll probably need to do as Diavonex suggests.

IPad mini 2 will no longer sync photos from OSX 10.9.5

Although I still have 8GB memory left on my iPad mini which is one year old, suddenly I can no longer upload photos via iTunes on my Mac OSX 10.9.5 to the iPad mini. When I press the sync button, it looks like it is doing it. 'Finished sync' appears but the new folders of jpegs are not uploaded to the iPad mini. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I had to recreate the play list But once I did that and synced it appeared. I'm sure updates won't update to the playlist though if I buy new songs.... Plus I can't figure out why my Macbook syned to the iPad after deleting the Playlist on the iPad (I assumed it would re-sync to the Macbook as it had done the before) ... I had not changed any settings after fiddling with the obvious above... but once I created it again on the Macbook, then the iPad synced the new Playlist.
So aggrivating and disappointing that these things aren't tested out prior to releasing updates!

Can't sync hunger games digital copy to ipad or iPad mini.

I have recently downloaded the hunger games digital copy to my MacBook. I am able to play this movie fine from itunes however I am unable to sync to movie to either my ipad2 or ipad mini. Everytime I attempt to sync to movie I get the following error iTunes could not copy "the Hunger Games" to the iPad because the file could not be read or written

You don't. Syncing is only supported between iOS devices and iTunes running on a Mac or PC.
You can send individual documents between iOS devices using AirDrop, perhaps that's what you are referring to? For this both devices must be running iOS 7:

There will ALWAYS be a new model on the horizon. Maybe this fall, maybe next year, maybe the year after (I think it was almost 3 years between the Touch 4 and 5). If you wait for the newest, you will always be waiting. If you need it now, buy it now.
