Ipad mini will not download free apps with out credit card info?

I have tried several different things but so far none have worked please help it is only a week old.

Next to your Payment Type, click "Edit." Select the "None" button and click "Done." Confirm that your card has been removed by returning to the Apple account information screen. Under Payment Type, it should say that there is no credit card on file.

Not with your current Apple ID. You have to create a new Apple ID using these instructions from Apple, exactly as written;

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)

Is it an account that hasn't been used in the store yet then how did you create it ? Unless the instructions on this page are followed when creating an account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store.
If you are being prompted to review the account then you could see if this post by mountaingoatgirl lets you do so without needing to enter credit card details : https://discussions.apple.com/message/24303054
If not then you will either need to enter credit card details (you should be able to remove them after entering them) or create a new account (and use the instructions on that HT2534 page when creating it). If you do create a new account and you want to use the same email address then you will need to replace it on that account first e.g. by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone and logging into it, via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes or via http://appleid.apple.com

Hey guys maybe you can help me. After updating to ios 6 on my iPad 2 everything was fine. I was downloading free apps. Now if I try it says I need to enter credit card details which I have never needed to do in the past. Is there any way to get around this? Please help. Cheers.

I want to download free apps from the apps store but it seems like the only option is with a credit card in which I am not ready to use as of now. I'm pretty disappointed...

Have you already established an Apple ID, or are you balking because of the credit card issue? It is my understanding that you can get the Apple ID by specifying NONE when they ask for the credit card information. You should then be able to download free stuff.
Later, if you try to buy something, you will then need to provide a method of payment. One alternative may be to add a gift card to your account. I've seen them for sale at Walmart. That way you can buy things without any worry about someone stealing your credit card information.
See <redeemLandingPage> for gift card terms and conditions. It will open up in your iTunes program.

I just received a new iphone and want to try out some of the free apps on the app-store. i'm used to being able to download free apps w/o itunes within the Droid enviroment. This seems complicated with having to install itunes, and having to enter credit card/pay-pal information just to be able to use some 'free' apps. Is there a method of setting up my account w/o having to do this?

When I try to download, it says the ID has not yet been used in iTunes and to review my account. When I do, it requires a credit card. There is no 'None' option for payment. The only way to have the "None option is to buy a free app then choose create appleid. Setting up any other way will not have none option. You will need card to continue. You can remove it afterwards in itunes on the computer.
Itunes>itunes store (on left)>Account (on right)>edit payment info - Set to none.

A couple of options:
- Create a new ID especially for free apps. See:

- Purchase an Itunes gift cord or certificate and use that as the payment method for the existing account.
