IPad Mini wont stay connected to wifi.

I've had my iPad Mini for almost a year and have never had this problem until about a month ago. When I wake my iPad, I have to reconnect to my wifi network. How can I fix this?

Try to reset network settings on your iPad: Settings>General>Reset>Reset network settings and reconnect to the wifi and test it. If that doesnt work, try to restart your router by unplugging it from the wall for about 15 seconds.

  • Ipad mini does not connect SOME wifi

My iPad mini does not connect some wifi. I tried all instructions like resetting settings, on-off router, manuel configuration but it is still same. I am using same router at my home and with same confiqs, it is connecting there, other iPads, iPhones are also connecting to wifi here, It also connects some other wifi's.
I've read that there is no solution, I have to change it.
Do you have any other idea? Because here-Turkey- it is not easy to do it like USA.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Ipad mini won't connect to WiFi

Recently, my daughter misplaced her iPad mini.  After a long search, we found it at home unharmed. However, I think I might have changed a setting through our shared Apple ID when it was missing but I can't figure out what or how.  The iPad mini will not connect to our WiFi now, not even if I use my phone as a Hotspot. Help!
    Thank you!

    Hello hokieflag92,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with Wi-Fi. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    Resolution
Occasionally while using your iOS device, you may notice unexpected Wi-Fi behavior:
Difficulty locating or connecting to a network
Unexpected Wi-Fi signal strength or disconnects
    Inability to access the Internet
Not automatically connecting to Wi-Fi when expected
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the above issues:
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap  and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
If the issue is still unresolved
Follow the steps below for the issue you're experiencing.

Unable to automatically connect to Wi-Fi
    Additional Information
Find information on connecting to a Wi-Fi network.
Some third-party routers may not be compatible with all iOS devices, even after updating to the latest firmware. If your iOS devices can successfully connect to other Wi-Fi networks, contact your router's manufacturer to ensure that your router is compatible with your iOS device.
See recommended settings for configuring your Wi-Fi router for use with iOS devices.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • IPad Mini could not connect to wifi - but Android phone was OK

I was at the Hay Literary Festival yesterday and although they had a good free wi-fi service to which my Android Samsung phone could connect, my iPad Mini could not hold the connection....it found the wi-fi, I entered the userid and p/w and momentarily it appeared to have connected, but then lost it.  Another person near me had exactly the same issue with her iPad Mini.    As soon as we got home, my iPad connected as usual to my home wi-fi and there is no hint of an issue with it.
So what could have been wrong at Hay?    Even when I positioned myself next to their router, my iPad still would not maintain the connection.  Is there something inherently wrong with the iPad, which I may get with other free wi-fi connections?  Or was there something unusual about the Hay setup?  Their techno-guru opined that Apple devices don't always connect, whereas Android's don't seem to have a problem.

  • IPad Mini iOS7 only connects to wifi when 20cm on top of router

    Hi,
I have an iPad Mini which I updated today with the new iOS 7.1 software. As a lot of other people have reported, I've been having huge problems connecting to my wifi router, which is 2.4GHz. After 4+ hours of troubleshooting trial and error and research, I finally figured out the best I could do is get my iPad connected if I placed it directly on top of the router... obviously that kind of defeats the whole 'mobile' aspect of my mobile device and is not a solution. If I move just a metre away, it gets disconnected.
The most helpful post I've found on this matter is this thread - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5786102?tstart=0
After trying EVERYTHING on there multiple times (rebooting, resetting router setters, resetting iPad settings, all of them about 25+ times and alternate methods), I managed to speak to 2 Apple Support advisors who were unhelpful. They told me to take it to a local Apple Support service but in my region that does not exist! So what to do?
This is obviously an engineering problem coming from the makers of iOS 7.1, as it's defo not coming from me and is not a network problem since the iPad does connect when it's 10cm away from the router. The post linked above reaffirms this; that it comes to down to a hardware/NVRAM issue. Apple has acknowledged this as an issue and I've read it's a problem that persists across a range of iPad models. Impossibly frustrating!
Am I supposed to wait until the engineers fix the bug in the software? My warranty has ended so I'm assuming I'd need to pay for repair... which would be RIDICULOUS given that it's an actual software update that has rendered my iPad 90% useless!!
    Anyone, help please!?!?

Nope. Not that I am aware of at any rate. And while it has been a few months (since I basically gave up and just tried to make do with my cellular data until I could circle back and try again), I am fairly certain that this iPad works with most other wifi connections. Like in the Apple Store, for instance. I will go try some other connections again (local coffee house, a friend's place, etc) but I am fairly certain the results will be the same: fine at those place, still a PITA at home.
It seems to be only about my particular Netgear router and the iPad itself. Or something. Damned if I know, otherwise I would have fixed it by now.

  • IPad mini won't connect to wifi, but does connect to iPhone hotspot.

I have a 1st gen iPad mini. It suddenly didn't connect to any of my known networks (House, work, parents). It does see the wifi signal but does not connect. I did a reset to all network settings, and it only connects to my iPhone hotspot but when I try to put the password for all the other wifi networks it gives me a message that the password is incorrect, which I'm sure is not right because I tried it on the other devices. I made a full restore to factory settings so it's runing iOS 8.1, it is like new, but still the same problem.

Hi Maybe it's a hardware problem or a modem problem. I think you need to take to Apple Store they may exchange but you will have to pay part of the cost if over 1 year old. Cheers Brian

  • Computer wont stay connected to wifi, other Macs connect fine

Just got AT&T cable and internet service. The wifi works great on everything but my iMac, my partners iMac flys. Mine will sometimes and then for no reason it will kick me out and start looking for networks.

What Version of the OS are you running? I know they had issues with 10.7.4 and WiFi Connectivity.
Check for software updates by clicking on  and then Software Update.

  • Ipad 2 Wont keep connection to wifi router

    Hi,
I am trying to use an Ipad 2 with a TalkTalk WiFi router. The problem is that I have to keep turning the router on and off for the ipad to recognize it. It will pick up the signal after I have done this until I restart the Ipad then I have to do it again.
    Hope somebody can help
    Thanks

Hi Go to settings on iPad Reset Network Settings After Reset you need to enter your router wireless key I found that the Router your I S P gives you are not very good I now use a top of range Netgear Router R 6300 bought off  Ebay for £70.00 It even works at the top of back garden no problems with iPhone or iPad & Apple TV. Cheers Brian

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Ipod touch wont stay connected at home

Ipod touch 5th gen wont stay connected to wifi at home while it is locked. this inhabits me from getting alerts when i want them most, at home. it stays connected the the server at school and at all my friends houses, but not mine here at home. i did the network reset on my ipod and it still disconnects. any ideas?

Power off and then back on your router
    Get a new router.
Since it only happens with your home network that indicates a problem with your home network

  • HELP!! Macbook wont stay connected automatically to wifi? why?

I live in apartments with tons of wifi signals. I have a secured wifi and no matter how many times i enter my password and everything my macbook wont stay connect automatically to my home wifi.
I have to use diagnostic assistance every time to connect to my wifi. It wont work. I have read some of these other forums but the suggestions don't work. Tried adding unsecured wifi signals to preferred and move to bottom and mine to top. no luck. I don't understand the DNS option so i didn't try it. PLEASE HELP SOMEONE, ANYONE
    THANKS!

When you live in an area with lots of wifi signals you are in a situation that may cause degradation to your own wifi network.
When the 54g channels were created it turned out only 3 of those channels can be used, 1, 6 or 11.
    all the other channels bleed.
So you should use a wireless sniffer such as air radar
Then look for the 3 strongest signals that are close to you. Then change the channel your wifi is broadcasting on to channel number 1, 6 or 11.
Unfortunately you may find that no matter what channel you use you are going to be close to someone else on the same channel.
The solution is to upgrade your network to a wireless N network. Using the 5ghz high band channels you have many more channels to use.
regarding your network diagnostics dont list any other network other than your own in the preferred networks. Regarding DNS your router should automatically assign a dns server.
