IPad network adapter wifi + 3G multiple connections

I have an iPad2 64gb wifi+3g on Verizon.  Wifi seems to automatically take network priority over 3g for mail and internet.  This would be a nice feature, except that often I use my wifi connection to connect a particular iPad app with a digital audio mixer and would like to continue using my 3g connection for data/internet.  If I were on my MBP I would be able to tell an application to use a certain connection.  Is there a way to do this on the iPad or do I have to wait for a jailbreak app?
Thanks!
-Steve

Well it's a shared network so with half duplex wireless, your speed is cut in half. If your connect at 54mbps it's really half of that. So actual throughput should be around 27mbps. The iPad 2 isn't 802.11n so the max should be 54mbps 27mbps actual.

I've had the same problem when I installed the latest version of SQL developer (1.2.1.32.13) on a machine that still had an older, working version. My problem went away when I changed from an IP name to an IP address. on the connection setup window.

  • Network Adapter could not establish connection during installation

    Hi,
I'm trying to install html db v10.2.0.1 and http server on the Fedora Core 4 platform and am getting a "Network Adapter could not establish connection during installation" error. This occurs after pressing Next at on the Specify HTML DB Database Details dialog box. Note that I'm not new to oracle databases or html db. I can't seem to find a similar thread on this forum related to the html db v2 install and I've read the FAQ related to the installation, making sure that I unset the TNS_ADMIN and ORACLE_HOME environment variables before launching the installer. You need to ask your network admin folk to check your PC and ensure that it is correctly configured for IP networking for your network - valid IP address, valid IP subnet mask, etc.
You can look at your existing IP configuration in Windows by opening a command console and typing the command "+ipconfig+".
Once that is done, you need to test connectivity between your PC and the database server. You need the IP address of the server for that and use the "+ping+" command to see if you get a ping echo response from the server.
If you configure your Oracle client software (e.g. +%ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\tnsnames.ora+ ) to use a hostname and not IP address, you need to make sure that your PC's IP stack can resolve that hostname into an IP address. Once again the "+ping+" command can be used, but this time using the hostname instead. The output will show the IP address the hostname resolved to.
All these are basic networking issues - and have nothing really to do with Oracle itself. You first need to get the networking to work on your PC, before attempting to use Oracle client-server.

  • Ipad speed and wifi loss of connection

I updated my ipad 3 to iOS 7 version and it runs so slow now, it is so painful to use that I almost can't stand it, I've  noticed the drop in performance, as soon as I upgraded the software.. Can I change it back,  is there a fix for this..
Also, the ipad constantly drops its wifi connection since the update, Mysore upgraded his iphone 4 and it also drops the connection...?
    Any idea sits very frustrating

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could't establish connection

    Hi,
I run java application on one Sun Solaris (5.8) server and call Oracle 8.1.6 MTS database on another Sun Solaris (5.8) server.
    When I am using jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:port:sid, I got:
java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection.
So, I changed to jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=hostip)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=databasename)(SERVER=DEDICATED))). It works.
But, when I tested java application with jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:port:sid on other Sun Solaris 5.8 server, using same classes12.zip and connect to same MTS database, all of them worked.
Right now, there is only one Sun server does not work with jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:port:sid format. And on this SUn server, using jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:port:sid format connect to other dedicated Oracle database is fine.
    Thanks for your help advance.
    Paul

This is going to sound stupid, but have you made sure that the server that couldn't connect resolved the name of the database server correctly? We had some problems with some of our field offices not correctly resolving the IP address for our server when the name was given. I would first try and put the IP address for the server/host name:
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@1.1.1.1:port:sid
That's just a thought, hope it works for you.

  • IPad can see wifi but no connection

iPad2 wifi can see network and tick against it. However, Safari con not open page and just hangs. Anyone have any idea please. Iphone works fine on same wifi.
    Many thanks.

A few more things that you can try.
Turn WiFi off - restart the iPad - turn WiFi on again and then try to connect again. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. Try to join again.
Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Then select your WiFi network again and try to join again.
Go to Settings>WiFi>Tap on the arrow next to your network name and then tap on Forget this Network in the next window. Then back out of the setting and go back to WiFi and let the iPad find your home network and then tap on the network name and try joining it again.
Do the same thing as above except don't tap on Forget this Network - tap on Renew Lease at the bottom.

  • Io Exception: The Network adapter could not estabilish connection.

    Hi Everybody,
I am trying to connect my SQL Developer to my local Oracle 10g DB on my laptop. But unfortunately I have not been able to establish the connection. All my attempts with the various permutations and combinations have resulted in the error msg as in the subject line. I am more than certain that the login credentials provided are correct. Also, when I change the Connection Type to TNS; in the drop down list I can see my local Db. But again the login details are not accepted.
One thing, which I have noticed is that my host (in TNSNAMES.ORA) is an I/P address which I believe was the one that I was making use of when I was connected to my university n/w @ the time of installing Oracle. As obvious, my I/P has changed (and will continue changing). Could this be creating a problem? I am pretty sure that unless I don't install the loopback adapter I won't be able run the Oracle EM over my web browser, so I guess I might install the adapter sooner than later.
But in the mean time, any light shed on this would be most appreciated. Do let me know if I should provide any further information.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rgds,
    Ranjanabh B

Are you sure the listener is up? Can you connect with other tools (EM, sql*plus)?
Instead of the university's IP, try *127.0.0.1* inside tnsnames.ora.
Also try the same using a Basic connection instead TNS (just in case).
    Hope that helps,
    K.

  • The network adapter could not establish connection

    I encounter a strange problem:
I use a java application compiled JDK1.3 to access Oracle 8.1.5 through JDBC driver class111.zip, everything is ok. But after I modify it to JSP and put this JSP into iPlanet Web Server to do same thing, the error message as title occur. Why?
Your any hints or helps are highly appreciated. Thanks.

i had quite the same pb:
it was because when i was connecting to my db, i was using SQL plus and i didn't have to give the name of the machine, just user, pass and instance
but with the driver i had to give the name of the machine,
so check in Tnsnames.ora if you are giving the good machine name...
i don't know if it helps...

  • SQLException:  Network Adapter couldn't establish connection

    Hello
I have done a web java application and I am trying to connect to an Oracle DB. From java server I can do a telnet to the db Server for the 1521 port (the port of the DB) but when I try to connect from the java aplication I obtain the SQLException in the subject. I think this can be that the firewall is cutting another port that oracle connection needs. Does anybody know if I need free another port more than 1521 to connect from java to an oracle db?

    Hi,
    Check the following:
    1. The connection URL that you have specified in the java application is correct (i.e. the hostname, SID and the Port information)
    2. The DB listener is started on the server where the DB
    is installed.
    Hope it helps

That means the Oracle URL you supplied to the pool is incorrect forconnecting to the
DBMS you want. If the same pool definition works sometimes and sometimesnot,
then it's an oracle problem with rapid connection requests. Make the poolmake all it's

  • Can't open TCP connection when two network adapter are enabled

    Hi all,
I've an applicaiton that connect using "TCP Open Connection". The applicaiton is running on a computer have two network adapters configured to be on two different network.
When I start the application, if both network adapters are enabled, connection is not created (timeout). When I disable the network adapter which is not configured for the network I need, connection is succesfull.
    - How can I choose which adapter to use to open the connection, as LabView seems enable to select the good one.
    - Or I can I disable a network adapter (just for the connection time)
I'm using LabView 8.5 Full on Windows XP.
    Thanks for your help

This is generally a routing issue. The OS will route connections to your primary network if it is not a direct route. For example, one network is 10.3.4.x (primary network) and the other is 192.168.1.x.with a subnet of 255.255.255.0. Now, let's say you want to reach a device with an 192.168.2.x address. The OS will try to route this through the primary network but is has no route to reach the 192.168.2.x subnet. Therefore your connection fails. You can add a permanent route to your computer to force specific address ranges to specific NICs. Use the ROUTE ADD command which is part of the OS. If you are trying to reach the computer using a name instead of the IP address the issue is basically the same but a but more challenging to resolve. The OS will do th elookup on your defined DNS servers. They generally do not have knowledge of local private networks and therefore can't resolve the name. In this case you need to create a more involved network infrastructure to update the name server. Probably not something that is feasible to do.
