IPad no longer seen by iTunes

After a problem with my Apple TV (Gen1) that required that I deauthorize /re-authorize my MacBook Pro, my iPad2 no longer will connect by WiFi with iTunes.
When physically connected, it is seen, appears under Devices, and syncs as expected. Something seems to have corrupted iTunes.
Any suggestions for restoring the WiFi connectivity would be appreciated!

You can scan through this article and see if anything in here helps getting the iPad to be recognized again.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1591
Did you try syncing again with the cable and then doing the WiFi sync set up steps all over again? Restart the devices - iPad and Mac?
This is a shot in the dark - but sign in and out of your iTunes account on the iPad. I know that makes no sense but I used it as a fix for getting the automatic downloads to work on my wife's iPod Touch.

  • My first generation iPad no longer recognized in iTunes, neither via usb nor wi-fi. Did all the steps  recommended in Apple iPad support. Now what?

My first generation iPad is no longer recognized in iTunes. It just doesn't show up neither via USB nor via wi-fi.
I've checked the usb connection and cable and its OK.
I checked that iTunes is up to date on my Mac.
I reinstalled iTunes on my Mac.
    I restarted my Mac,
    I've restarted my iPad.
The iPad has IOS 4.3.1 (8G4) installed. And without the iPad being recognized in iTunes  I can not update the IOS nor apps, nor remove unneeded photos. The iPad is completely filled up, no memory left to allow even updates via cellular or via wi-fi.
Trying to gain access to update the IOS and to update APPS and to remove the pics I already have backed up and do not need on this iPad locally.
PS: I even tried to connect the iPad to a different Mac and it was not seen in that iTunes either.
So, what can I do now?
Any suggestions besides using it as a paper weight?
    Thanks

    Hello there, Blueye3355.
The following iPad Troubleshooting Assistant has some good steps to run through, to make sure you've covered all your bases:
Apple - Support - iPad - iTunes Assistant

If following all the steps listed there are additional options on the last step you might want to try or review the "if the issue persists" steps mentioned in the second part of:

  • IPad 1 Wifi / 3G Display sometimes goes dark but iPad is still seen by iTunes

Display sometimes goes dark but iPad still works and is still seen by iTunes. It can sometimes be fixed by rapidly hitting the power button and holding the home button.
Holding the home button and then pressing the power button ALWAYS takes a screenshot and I can hear the screenshot sound.
The screenshot it takes when dark 99% of the time is of the lock screen, but sometimes it takes a screenshot of a blank screen. Perhaps that is after the screen sleeps.
The problem is very intermittent; sometimes the display will work for weeks, sometimes for minutes. Started doing this out of the blue, no drops or bumps before it started.
Seems like possibly a connector or voltage issue?
I would say power button, but the power button ALWAYS works for screenshots.
Any ideas? Right now the display is not working and I'm having problems getting it back on.
I have tried opening the iPad and do not see anything out of the ordinary.
Any inexpensive recommended vendors that can repair this if a solution is not forthcoming?

the iPad doesn't have the feature to turn off 3G service and is searching for STRICTLY 3G coverages.
We need to ASK Apple to add this as a feature to ANY 3G iPads!!

  • HT4623 My iPad no longer has the iTunes app nor the App Store app. It will no longer delete or download. Anyone ever experience this. Geek squad had no advice for me.

MY iPad no longer has an App Store app nor an iTunes Store. I cannot delete nor download. I have tried everything but a reset. Do not know which one I should do. My info is backed up and stored in the cloud , HELP!! Sleepless on South Carolina

Check to see if restrictions are enabled.  Settings / General / Restrictions.  If they are, you will need to enter the 4 digit code that was set when restrictions were turned on.  Then check to see if App store and iTunes are disabled as a restriction.
If that is not the case, or if you have forgotten or do not know the passcode for restrictions, you will need to try:
    1.  Reset homescreen layout - see if they come back.
    2.  Restore to Factory settings - Try restoring from a backup afterwards.  If the problem still exists, restore and set up as new.

  • .. My IPad 2 not seen in ITunes 10.5.2.11

Hi experts - I need help
After installation (upgrade) new Itunes ending appearing my IPad in Itunes for synchronize changes in my lybraries. Windows 7 see Ipad like portable device but
ITunes not starting and after starting same Ipad "not see". I have for music Ipod and this device working whitout problems. Pleas help me with this problem.
I do not know what to set - I think the if have correct drivers for USB - Windows reports - Device MTP USB - with drivers from Microsoft . By web support Apple
all drivers for 64-bit systems ensure instalation new version I Tunes. I am very unfortunate. Advance Thank you very much for your answer. Josef - [email protected] - The user of Czech republik.

    Folks,
I had this problem with my PC (windows 7, 64-bit) and my iPad. After messing with it for a long time, I finally found the answer (bad USB driver). The following two step process should help resolve these kinds of problems more quickly.
The first step is to verify that the iPad (or iPhone) is really connected to your computer. This can be (really) checked using a program called USBDeview. You can get this (very small) program from http://download.cnet.com/USBDeview/3000-2094_4-10614190.html or http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html. Don't worry, it's not Spyware or Malware.
Just run the program and sort on the 'Connected' column. If your iPad or iPhone doesn't show up as Yes (under 'Connected') then your iDevice is not properly connected to your computer. Could be a cable problem. Could be an iDevice problem. Could be a USB hub problem. Note that your iDevice might be listed as what it is (iPad or iPhone) or it might be listed as 'Apple Mobile Device USB Driver' in the 'Description' column.
Apple has a number of ideas to resolve this sort of basic connectivity issue, including switching USB ports, resetting your iDevice, rebooting your iDevice, rebooting your computer, etc. You will need to try them until your iDevice shows up in USBDeview as 'Yes' under Connected.
If you iDevice shows up as 'Yes' under connected, it should also be visible in the Device Manager (found in the Windows 7 Control Panel under Hardware and Sound). You might find it under Portable Devices or it might be under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
The iDevice may or may not show up in the Windows Explorer. On some machines it does, on others it does not. Why is not clear.
If the Idevice is properly known to Windows and iTunes can't see it, then any number of other things could be wrong. Apple has a list. See the very useful page over at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538. Testing shows that the Apple Mobile Device service must be running. Check this using Task Manager (started by right clicking the taskbar). Note that the iPod service and the iphlpsvc service must also be running. These services have different names under the Processes table versus the Services tab of Task Manager.
    AppleMobileDeviceService.exe - Apple Mobile Device
    iPodService.exe                      - iPod Service
    ItunesHelper.exe                     - iphlpsvc
Step 4 of http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 checks if the Apple Mobile Device USB is installed. This is essential and a common source of problems. In at least some cases, Windows will install the 'MTP USB' driver. Indeed, Windows will reinstall this driver if you uninstall it. The MTP USB driver is essentially a Windows bug (possibly caused by Microsoft). You must replace the MTP USB driver with the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. Step 4 explains how to do this. Note that you must use the 'Have Disk' approach. Otherwise, Windows will just reinstall the invalid MTP driver.
The Apple doc indicates that you can find the correct driver at C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. Perhaps this is correct on some systems. You may find the correct driver in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
iTunes could make this a lot easier by checking if the iDevice is known to Windows (what USBDevier does) and if the Apple Mobile Device USB driver is properly installed for the iDevice. Sadly it doesn't perform either check. Note that iTunes does if some of the related services (see above) are actually running.

  • IPhone and iPad no longer recognised by iTunes

I have just upgraded iTunes, but now both my iPhone and iPad are not registering on iTunes. They are recognised by my laptop, so the cable is working (and have tried all 3 USB ports as well) but neither are coming up on iTunes. I have un- and then reinstalled iTunes on my laptop, but still not working. Help!

iTunes won't recognise my iPad since the latest update. I have tried the solution on http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538, twice over but with no result.
I have repaired each of the iTunes elements and restarted both the computer and the iPad several times.

  • Ipad 2 and 4S no longer seen by itunes

Recently my Ipad 2 and Iphone 4s have quit being recognized by Itunes 12.0.1.26 on 27" Imac i7 running 10.9.5. Had been working fine previously. Now everytime I connect Ipad it asks to "Trust" computer. Once trusted it shows up in Iphoto, but not in Itunes. I have tried several Apple branded cords and reset the Ipad.
All updates have been made. The same thing is happening to the Iphone. Please do not tell me to see the article on restarting the ipad and the iphone, I've done all that several times.
I have looked through all the current discussions and this issue does not seem to be solved at all by anyone.
A little hepl here would be greatly appreciated. On the other hand my Ipad Air and 4s on my Yosemite running i7 (different computer) is working fine.

Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall iTunes? I'm not familiar with all the ins and outs on a mac, but when it's doing this on a PC the suggestion is to uninstall iTunes, Apple mobile device driver and apple application support, then reinstall iTunes. Something gets messed up with the drivers where iTunes thinks it's updated but really hasn't so your machine is trying to use an old driver that isn't compatible.

I know this says iPod but the premise should be the same. Perhaps something in there can help you.

  • First Generation iPad No Longer Recognised after iTunes 10.6 and iOS 5.1 updates, help me!

I recently updated the version of iTunes on my early '06 iMac (17" 1.86GHz Intel Core Duo, 32-bit, 1.5GB RAM, OS X 10.6.8), to version 10.6 and the version of iOS on my first model iPad to 5.1. Since the update, it no longer shows up in iTunes despite it working perfectly fine.
There is nothing wrong with the hardware or the connecting cables, I am unable to diagnose any possible cause of the issue as no error messages are presented on either the iPad or in iTunes. I cannot use my iPad without connectivity with my desktop computer.
Is this problem a bug in iTunes 10.6 or iOS 5.1?
Frankly I am appalled, it seems as though Apple didn't fully test either update before release.
And I am not going to use Wi-Fi sync as a workaround. I need the security provided by a direct cable connection to the machine my iPad is synced with.

Unfortunately it was a blinding flash of the obvious that fixed my issue...
Simply rebooting the iMac brought it back to life.
    Duh.
I assumed that since Apple usually forces reboots after updates if they are required that this didn't require one, apparently it did.

  • IPhone update failed and is no longer seen by iTunes, what next?

I applied the latest update to my phone and it failed.
iTunes suggested that I restore the device.
The restore operation failed as well.
Now my iPhone is no longer detected iTunes.
It does not appear as a removeable drive or camera to Windows.
    Online troubleshooting failed to help.
The only reaction that I observed is that Windows informes me that I had connected a high speed device to a slow (USB 1.0) port and suggested connecting it to another port.
Next I am going to take it to the AT&T store where I got it and see if they can help.

You may have already done this, but check out this kb..it discusses "recovery mode"
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
if that doesn't work, you can check out this article on dfu  mode, that would be the next step.

  • Unknown Error during Recovery - iPad no longer Recognized by iTunes

I have a 3rd Generation iPad which I was attempting to perform a factory reset.  I received an "Unknown Error" during the process and from that point on I have been unable to get iTunes to recognize my iPad in recovery mode (or otherwise).
I have tried every thread on the subject, but I found one interesting thing.  If I connect the iPad with the same cable, etc. to another computer it immediately recognizes it in recovery mode and offers to restore the iPad.
It seems like my computer is not recognizing the iPad because it was in the process of restoring the device when the error occurred.  Does anyone know if there is a way to reset or fix this issue.  I would prefer not to update iTunes and download both the new iTunes and iPad software again and use another computer if it is not necessary.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hey KSHItunes,
That was a good test to try your iPad on another computer.  It does seem to isolate the issue to something with your computer setup.
Although you would prefer not to update iTunes, there may be steps in this article which can help.
