IPad no longer syncs after abruptly stopping

Yesterday, whilst syncing my iPad in iTunes (as I do on a weekly basis,) iTunes began transferring some tv shows I had purchased on my device. Unbeknownst to me, I did not have enough room on my hard drive to transfer the shows completely, and iTunes gave me a message saying that it had stopped the sync because of insufficient space (or something like that.)
I freed up several gigabytes of space, and began to sync again, but this time with no luck. ITunes will run through the standard (taking forever) back up procedure, and then moves on to a dialogue that says "syncing contacts"
Then it just finishes. No new app purchases are transferred, my newly purchased movies (purchased on my mac) do not transfer, and my new books and photos do not transfer either. I even tried to remove my music from the device, and it gives me a dialogue asking if I want to do it, and then I hit apply and nothing happens.
After hours of searching the nets, I can not seem to find an answer or a fix. I can't even find anyone with a similar problem.
Can anyone help me?
Help much appreciated,
All the best,
Peter

Uninstalling Zinio did nothing for my cause. I finally broke down and un-synced every one of the 175 apps on my device.
I then re-synced everything but the apps (videos, photos, books...) and when I was content that was working, i re-synced the apps 5 at a time.
Seems to have done the trick, but what a pain!
Thanks for the help.

  • IPAD no longer Sync's Automatically

Not sure when this has happened but my iPAD no longer Sync's automatically with iTunes/MacBookPro.  I've tried flipping between Wifi Sync and USB but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
iTunes identifies that it's connected but I always ahve to sync it manually these days.  My iPOD still sync's fine.
    All comments and observations welcome.

    Hi again notfeelinthelove!
I'm sorry that you are still experiencing this issue! To answer your question, yes, a restore on the iPad would be a sensible thing to do. An article about doing that can be found here:

  • HT1766 ipad no longer functions after accepting an updated version of "Hayday"

ipad no longer functions after accepting an updated version of "Hayday"

Unfortunately it was a blinding flash of the obvious that fixed my issue...
Simply rebooting the iMac brought it back to life.
    Duh.
I assumed that since Apple usually forces reboots after updates if they are required that this didn't require one, apparently it did.

  • My iPad will not sync after system update and returns message that my computer is no longer authorised.

Please help me sync my iPad as it is not able to sync after a system update.  Several messages 1. Computer no longer authorised and when I reauthorise it it prepares to sync and then it tells me my iPad cannot be written to,

    Hi leefromwoodford,
The following article will tell you how to transfer purchased music from your iPhone to the your Mac -
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
    Specifically -
    Transferring purchases
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod has your purchased content from the iTunes Store, you can transfer the content to a computer that is authorized for your Apple ID.
Note: This option only works for content you purchased from the iTunes Store (as opposed to content from other sources, such as CDs you may have imported). For content you did not purchase from the iTunes Store, synchronization occurs in one direction only. This means your content can be copied from a computer to your iOS device, but cannot be copied from your device to a computer.
    Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer.
Enter your Apple ID and password. Then, click the Authorize button.
Connect your device your computer. If it is synced with another iTunes library, you may be asked if you want to "Erase and Sync" or "Transfer Purchases."
If that alert appears, click Transfer Purchases.
Important: Clicking Erase and Sync will delete any existing content currently on your device. The content would then be replaced with the content that is on the computer.
If you were not offered the option to transfer purchases:
After connecting your device to the computer, its icon appears in iTunes. Click the icon.
From the File > Devices menu, choose "Transfer Purchases from 'Your device name.'"
Note that the computer must be authorized for the Apple ID under which the purchases were made.
You may also want to download the music directly from the iTunes store, rather than using the iPhone. See this article -
    Download past purchases

  • IPad will no longer sync after iOS 5 update

I updated my Original iPad to iOS 5 and now it no longer syncs; it stays stuck at the preparing to backup step. This happens whether I try it via WiFi or via the standard way with the cable.
I'm thinking I should do a Restore from Backup and get it back to iOS 4.3.5.

I've been stymied at this backup failure (and thus sync and update since both go through the backup process first) for a long time, ever since release 4.3.3 or thereabouts.
Stay with me, please; this was part of my recent troubleshooting process.  I tried using the new install of Safari and sure enough, it only loaded blank pages.  iTunes (new release) Help also loaded only blank pages and then reported "computer not connected to the internet".
In seeking a resolution to the Safari connection issue, I came across this advice from Mike41: "If anyone runs across my post of 7/21/2011 regarding Safari 5.1 not connecting to the Internet on my Windows Vista system, BorisKon suggested I run a command prompt window as administrator and execute the command "netsh winsock reset" (then be sure to reboot). I tried this and now Safari 5.1 can access the Internet. See the discussion athttps://discussions.apple.com/message/15734035#15734035. I had to reboot for the command to take effect. "
I did this on my system and now Safari, iTunes, and the iPad backup all function 100%.
    Start/Run/"cmd" without quotes.
Type "netsh winsock reset" without quotes.
    Reboot the computer.
    Happy, happy, joy, joy...

  • Ipod Touch 5 will no longer sync after update 7.1.2

After updating from iOS 7.1.1 to 7.1.2 my Ipod touch 5th gen no longer syncs with my iTunes 11.3.1.1 when connecting it to my computer (windows 8.1) what comes up on my touch's screen is "trust this computer?" I press the "trust" button then a few seconds later I get the disconnected tone from my computer and nothing else happens (it still charges) and just checked it out on my Windows 7 computer (iTunes 11.3.1.2)and it recognized it fine (but the other computer has my playlists) I've tried updating to iTunes 11.3.1.2, updating iPod drivers and uninstalling then re-installing iPod drivers and iTunes is still not connecting to my iPod. Help please.

On your computer go to the control panel (hover in the lower right corner) then programs, add/remove programs
Uninstall iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Service, Apple Application Support then go to apple.com and redownload and reinstall iTunes and try again.
You won't lose any content, you're not deleting that, just the programs that access them.
What is thought to happen is that sometimes a new version of itunes doesn't update the drivers in those other two programs. The only way to update the drivers is to force it by uninstalling the programs which allows itunes to write the correct ones.
My iPad and iPod did exactly the same thing and this is how I fixed it.

  • Calendar no longer syncs after ios7 update

since updating the firmware on my iphone 4 it no longer syncs the calendar with outlook 2003, ive been in the info tab many times, selected and unselected the sync calendars with outlook box and it makes no difference, ive been in the add in menu in outlook and made sure the itunes add in is selected (its the only one there) ive been using the iphone and outlook combination for years now for work with no problems whatsoever, i cant understand why the 'select calendar box' in itunes is empty, if anyone knows the fix id be most grateful as its become quite integral to my work

Make sure you are running the latest version of iCloud control panel for Windows (ver. 4) by running Apple Software Update and installing any available updates.  If you install an update, restart your PC, then try calendar syncing again.
If that wasn't the issue, try force-closing the calendar app on your iPad (double-tap the home button, swipe up on the calendar app, tap the home button again), then reset your iPad (hold the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release).  After it restarts, try adding a new calendar event and see if it appears on your PC now.
If not, try going to Settings>iCloud on your iPad, tap Sign Out, choose Delete from My iPad and provide your password when prompted (your data will still be in iCloud).  Then reset your iPad again and test calendar syncing.

  • Ipad no longer Syncs with my Imac

Since updating my iPad 1 to software version 5 it will no longer sync with my 18 month old Imac running OS X 10.6.8. It starts trying to sync but after a couple of minutes it tells me that the "Sync session failed to Start". Any ideas.

Syncing of data such as Photo Stream, Calendars and Contacts (as opposed to music) using iTunes has been removed in Mavericks (the framework, SyncServices, which enables this has been removed). You are expected to sync your data using iCloud.
    Get Started with iCloud
    Set up on iOS

  • IPod Touch No Longer Syncs After Upgrade to 10.8.3

I recently upgraded my computer from OSX 10.5 to 10.8.3. But while my iPad seems to sync fine, my iPod touch no longer syncs and it is not recognized by the Apple store. Please help!

When I plug in my ipod, a message pops up that says:
"This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPod (my ipod name). Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?
         >If you do not authorize this computer, 191 songs will be removed from the iPod"
    I click "authorize"
Enter my apple ID (note that for some reason it keeps bringing up an apple id from 2006, even though the computer and ipod are from 2011 and 2010.)
Then it says "this computer is already authorized"
And every time I plug it in, the same thing happens.
    Sorry I wasn't clear before.

  • IPad problem with syncing after reinstall

i have reinstalled windows 7 recently and when i plugged my ipad to be synced with some new apps i found that itunes demand the data that is not currently in the itunes library because i reinstalled the whole disk containing this information(i don't know why it just don't merges it). Anyway, i have accepted this and selected the new apps to be installed, and that's where the problem begins. On step 2 of 3 (determining apps to sync) it doesn't sync at all the selected apps and then finishes syncing without the apps appearing on the ipad.
It still has the apply button to sync them but it doesn't do anything at all. Any suggestions regarding this situation because i don't really understand what wrong with it ...

I realized where was the problem

  • Ipad no longer syncs calendar with my PC

looking for some help - my ipad does not sync with my PC. it worked yesterday - tried turning off computer and ipad still will not sync calendar events

    See Pierre-Yves 1 post: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23297197#23297197
This was driving me crazy. Sync between Outlook 2007 and my iphone was working perfectly on ios 6 - I primarily sync Calendar, contacts, and notes.
Then everything went bizerk with ios 7... All of a sudden nothing was getting  syncronized, but rather multiple Calendars and Contacts showed up in Outlook 2007. Disabling Calendar, contacts, and Notes in my iphone's icloud settings did the trick. Now I have ONE Calendar and ONE contact list in Outlook, fully in sync with my iphone.
