I recently updated my wifes iphone to v5 so that it could hotpoint with our new ipad. I downloaded her photos from the iphone to our imac but they were deleted from the iphone in the update. Can you import photos onto the iphone from the imac?
Are you both using different Apple ID on iTunes?

I have two IPhones and one IPad all with the same Apple ID. I can call facetime between the two IPhones, but I cannot call the IPAD from either of the IPhones and when I call my IPhone from the IPad it rings my wife's IPhone after briefly calling mine.
Each device needs a separate address. Use an email address (gmail.com) on the iPad.

Cant import photos from my iphone 4 to iphoto (8.1.2)
i can no longer import photos from my iphone 4 to iphoto (8.1.2). it freezes on "preparing to import" each time. Any suggestions?
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Have tried re-building database and it crashed
Library is located on Path: /Users/New User/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Library on my Hard Disk
No updates or upgrades prior to problems
Managed or Referenced Library, my version does not appear to have this option?
I'm running a Mac Pro and my main drive of 3 hard drives has 238.24 GB of available space
The strange thing is I have 3 different logins, one for my iphone, one for my partners iphone and one for our ipad, when I back my phone up I have 3000+ photo's in iphoto and it crashes when it gets to the last 300 or so, same for my partners iphone which has 2000+ photo's, but I tried the ipad which has 600 pictures on the library and it back-up fine without crashing?
I look forward to your reply and thanks in advance for your help/reply -
Import photos PSE12 from IPhone - duplicates
Hi everyone.
I'm having a problem with Importing photos from my iphone into PSE12 using the Import from Camera/Card Reader function.
background:
The phone has circa 1200 photos on it.
They have. Softly been previously downloaded to my macbook.
When I go to import the most recent ones it says there are 200+ to download. So it is recognising that some already exist ie 1,000 or so are not downloaded.
So I go ahead and download the 200+. All appears to be well.
Until I then go and do another download later and it downloads all 200+ again.
Anyone know how to stop this ?
I assume it's a bug?
is there a way of simply importing the contents of an iPhones photo and video list dirextort into a Macbook folder and then doing the import possibly?
suggestions welcome. The following are my observations based on my very simple testing:
1. In Photo Downloader, in Apply Template, Set Template to Use: to None. PSE DOES treat re-imported images as duplicates.
2. In Photo Downloader, in Apply Template, Set Template to Use: to Default. PSE does NOT treat re-imported images as duplicates.
3. In Photo Downloader, in Apply Template, Set Template to Use: to Basic Template. Enter data in Author field. PSE does NOT treat re-imported images as duplicates.
It is apparent that applying a Metadata template to the imported images cause PSE to not treat the images as duplicates if they are imported a second time. But to me this seems ridiculous that the import and template functions are at cross purposes to each other.
This is a significant flaw in the import process. I submit that Adobe should find a solution to this. -
When importing photos from my iPhone black boxes appear in place of random photos in the iPhoto library and in Photostream. It has no apparent pattern, the photos are just blank. It's not just icons, when I go to edit the photos externally in Photoshop it opens an image filled with nothing but black.
This is more than annoying. It's effectively deleting photos I'm taking on vacation and so forth.
Anyone? The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.

IPhoto crashes when I attempt to import pictures from my iPhone
When I try to import photos from my iPhone, iPhoto crashes. It just freezes. I'm not sure what to do.
Because there's something wrong with the main library?
If there are a lot of videos then it might well take tim, as videos are larger files.
Back to the original library:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

A presto -
Import photos from my iphone to iphoto on my mac
I am having a problem importing photos from my iphone 5S to iphoto on my MacBook. It has been preparing to import for hours.
HHi, thank you for the reply. I have checked my iPad and iPhone and neither has iCloud Photo Library (Beta) enabled. Turned off in both. Photostream is turned on.
i tried to sort it out by dragging all the photos to Events on the Mac and then deleting them from iCloud - (left hand side of iPhoto under the section 'Shared'). the photos now show up in Events. I did force quit but the issue remains. The message reads ' photos are bing imported to the library. Please wait for import to complete.'
i can't empty iPhoto trash either. The message read "Delete error. Please wait for import to complete.'
WHen I was moving the photos to the Events I always had a message about duplicates - to the effect that the photos already existed, did I want to import them? I clicked on Yes, import all duplicates. But when it showed the images - duplicates side by side - one showed the photo and the other was blank.
I really don't know what to do! And I don't know how to handle my iOS devices. Is it to do with the large number of photos? Any help, advice appreciated. -
I deleted my duplicate contacts one by one on my iPad but have lost over 600 contacts on my iPad they are all on my iPhone but when I sync my iCloud I only have 200 contact on my iPad but have all 820 on my iPhone can any one help
Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing. -
Cannot access my yahoo mail in iPad. Receive it on my iPhone. Have stopped & started both. Put the fetch to "off" & manually. Not sure what else to do.comes up with message "connection to server failed". This started when I transferred my service to a iPhone 4 to a 4s.
Reinstalling would be about the most useless thing you could do, given that the test with the other User account works -- that means the application is OK.
The next step that would be indicated would to remove the com.apple.mail.plist file from Home/Library/Preferences, after having Quit Mail. Subsequently when you relaunch Mail it will open as though New, but if you only enter the setup information for each account, and DECLINE when prompt to ask if you want to Import anything. Mail should rediscover the existing account folders, and all should be well.
As a precaution, open Home/Library and locate the Mail folder -- Duplicate the Mail folder, and drag the resulting copy to the Desktop for temporary backup.
