Ipad not locating my location

Hello my ipad is not picking up my location. I have checked all the usual. Switched it off, reset etc and still not working.

If it's a wifi-only iPad then it doesn't have a built-in GPS chip, it relies on getting its location from the router that it's connected to being in Apple's database - if your router isn't in the database then it won't be able to get your location (at some point your router should get into the database).

Ipad not finding my location, all location setting are on?

If you have the WiFi-only iPad your location is determined by the location of nearby WiFi routers. The WiFi-only iPad does not have GPS. Without GPS location-finding is done by using a Apple location database which contains the MAC addresses of routers and their physical location. A MAC address is a unique number which is built-in to all network devices when manufactured. The Apple database is built and updated by Apple GPS-enabled devices (primarily iPhones) actually seeing your router and then adding/updating the router's location in the database.
Bottom line: Your Router's location is set as the location of your home in the Apple location database. Therefore, no matter where you go, if the router location services sees is your router, it will report your location as your home.

I am totally stumped till day before morning my ipad was displaying my location correctly in all the map application( nokia, apple, google, accuweather, and even the compass) and then suddenly  it is 'cannot determine location, for the last two days. I have tried the following things:
    1. Switched off and restarted the ipad.
    2. hard reset the ipad
    3. Fully reset the network settings ( i am using wifi)
I am using ipad3 64 GB ios 6 (upadted more than a week back).
How can I get it to recognize my location back....
    anneye

The WiFi iPad does not have a GPS chip in it. It relies on other internet srevices which keep track of IP addresses and locations. If you internet service provider changed your IP address to an unknown address your iPad may not be able to determine it's location.

Try this: Open up her Home folder (house icon), click Library then Preferences. Locate com.apple.softwareupdate.plst (I don't have my Mac handy so I can't double-check the name; that should be correct) and move it to the desktop or trash, then try running Software Update again. Also try running Software Update while logged in as another administrator.

    Hi davidisleta,
If you are having issues with your iPad not showing location information, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPhone -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

  • How can I demonstrate my App to someone not at my location?

How can I demonstrate my App to someone not at my location?  I'm trying to show how an App works to an audience that is in a different city.  I have an iPad 3.  At work, we use Live Meeting for shareing content, but I don't know how to show an App.  Is it even possible?  Thanks.

It would only be possible by pointing a camera at the iPad screen whilst you use it, and sending that video over the net somehow (Skype etc.) from another device.
There is no functionality to stream the iPad screen over the Internet built in to iOS, only the iPad camera input over FaceTime.

  • My ipad mini can't locate me on maps..how do i fix it?

my ipad mini can't locate me on maps..how do i fix it?

Is this a WiFi-only iPad, or a WiFi+Cellular unit? If it's a WiFi-only unit, location depends on the WiFi router being registered in Apple's database. If it's not, no location can be returned. I've read that if you have someone with an iPhone with location services turned on connect to that WiFi router, that will update Apple's databases, but I don't know if that's correct and if it is how quickly that will happen.
If you have a WiFi+Cellular iPad, make sure that Location Services are turned on:

  • "Find My iPad" can't find location

I have set up Find my Iphone on my iphone 4G and it works perfectly. However, on my iPad, I can't get it to work! I have the wifi/3G 64 GB iPad 2 but don't use the 3G. I have reset, hard reset and tried every suggestion I could find but still no luck. Am I the only one having this problem? why does my iphone work but not my iPad? I would not assume I need 3G. Please help.

If you are not using the 3G on your iPad, then the device must rely on the wifi router's location.  If the router is not found on a master database, then the iPad cannot indicate its location.  No problem with the iPhone, since it gets it's location from the GPS, if not cell tower.  But with a wifi device, it must rely on its router location to be defined in some database maintained somewhere on the Internet.
and this is exactly what the "crowd sourced database" that the iPhone uses does.
It will identify wifi access point locations and forward to Apple so wifi devices can locate themselves.
When identifying location with the iPhone (or 3G iPad with 3G turned on), it should update the database and at some point (when this databse info is made available), the iPad should locate itself with wifi only.

  • HT201472 lost my ipad how should i locate it?

i lost my ipad how should i locate it? i dont have locate my iphone app installed

You do not need the Find My IPad installed.
If you had "Find My iPad" enabled in Settings > iCloud then you may be able to locate it. If not, you cannot locate it. If it was enabled then you can try locating it via http://icloud.com on a computer or the App "Find My iPhone" on another iDevice. Note: this will only work if your device is connected to a network and the device hasn't already been restored as new and/or "Find My iPad" has not been disabled on it.
If you think that your device was stolen rather than lost then you should report it to the police. In either case you should contact your carrier, change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.

  • Ipad mini cannot datermine location on maps

My ipad mini cannot datermine location on maps. Please Help!

iPad (and iPad Mini) without cellular do have some limited ability to determine where they are, but it depends on the good nature of your WiFi service provider to pass that information along.  Some service providers do not pass it along.  Others pass along somewhat incorrect data.
If you change WiFi providers (e.g., while you are traveling), try again.  A different provider may allow you to see where you are.

Do you have a wifi signal?  In order for the wifi only iPad to get any location fix, it needs to be connected to a wifi node - it's only way to determine locations is by looking up the wifi networks hardware address in Apple's wifi node location database of approximate locations (as mentioned already, it has no GPS chipset to use GPS location data).

  • IPhone maps favourites does not open the location

    Hello ,
I have problem with iPhone maps i hope some one can help me.
I have saved many places at favourites under different names. Now when I select one of these location the maps does not go to location , its like only searching by the saved name as its the location name.
Is there a way to get them back ?
or I can get the coordinates from these favourite ?
    thank you

    Sinuosalice,
If you open an email with an attachment in Mail, there should be a rectangle with a dashed line border and an arrow pointing down. This means you can download it - to do that, just tap it.
Instead, if it's already downloaded, there will be a bar on the screen with the name of the attachment, icon for the type of file, size, and an arrow (>) on the right. Tap the bar to open the attachment.
    Hope this helps,
    O.C.

  • "not a valid location for linked resource" in Flash Builder 4.7

    Hi,
I'm constantly running into the problem, that Flash Builder simply won't let one create a linked resource that points to a location on the same drive?
    I'm getting the infamous

I'm using FB 4.7 with Flash Professional CC.
Is that supposed to work at all?
I've 1 workspace where I've successfully created a linked resouce - but it fails for all others. Even when I'm setting up a new WS.
And it's totally unclear to me why it had worked there but not in all others that I'm trying to create.
