IPad not recognized after disconnecting from USB

I have and iPad 2 and just upgraded to iTunes 11. I can connect to my iMac (using snow leaopard OS) through USB and the iPad will show up as a device in iTunes.  However, as soon as I discunnect my USB connection the iPad is no longer listed as a device (it used to remain listed for wireless connection). Accordingly, I can not wirelessly sync with iTunes and my automatic backup when I plug the iPad into an electric outlet no longer seems to work.
Are there any suggestions for trying to fix this?
Thanks.

I have a similar problem but have had it since the ios6 upgrade. Itunes used to be able to see my devices without connecting with a usb cord but can no longer do that. I hoped that Itunes 11 would sort out the problem but it has not. I am using a Windows 7 PC. I have tried various suggestions, such as connecting, syncing and then disconnecting, stopping Apple Mobile Device service and restarting, resetting router, shutting down Itunes and Ipad and restarting....nothing works. It is annoying! It would be great if someone could offer a solution!

  • IPod Nano (4th Generation) switches on when connected to USB power - shows Menu & hangs (unresponsive to click wheel) - deems off after 5-sec - Switches off after disconnecting from USB Power - syncs with iTunes - Tried 5R's - Problem still persists

    1. The iPod Nano (4th Generation - 8GB) switches on, only when connected to USB power by showing apple logo and displays Menu options thereafter..
    2. However, I can not access Menu as it is unresponsive to click wheel. As a result it is inaccessible to any further use,
    3. NOTE: it displays "Battery Fully charged" icon on the screen without any "Lock" icon.
    4. After  5-sec to 10-secs the screen deems off.. i.e. goes to sleep mode.. And thereafter would probably remain like that (sleeeping) for eternity!!!!
    5. It Switches off after WITHOUT DISPLAYING any Apple Logo immediately after disconnecting from USB Power.
    6. In other words, it can be switched on only through USB power in spite of battery being fully charged.
    7. Interestingly, it syncs with iTunes. It is recognised in iTunes (Latest version 11+).. Displays on screen all commands Like.. syncronising, connecting, connected,
    8. Allows to add Music, videos like a normal ipod & displays all status information in iTunes.
    9. Read Trobleshooting & Tried all 5R's. Registered, Resetted, updated & Restored to iOS 1.0.2
    10. It is now displaying to select Language in place of Menu options, with no access through click wheel, centre button whatsoever... Problem still persists
KINDLY GUIDE ME THE SOLUTION. APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE in advance...

"I get the feeling that this is a software issue that could probably be solved quite easily"
Since you have already tried all the normal troubleshooting solutions, take the iPod to your nearest Apple Store for a *proper diagnosis.* The staff there will be able to confirm if your problem is software or hardware _*at no cost to you.*_

  • External keyboard and mouse not recognized after waking from sleep

This started happening all of a sudden. It was working fine before that. When I disconnect the power cable, keyboard, and then connect them back, its not recognized. To make it recognize the keyboard and mouse, I have to logout and login or restart the laptop. I looked at this related post, but the PRAM reset fix did not work for me : http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=870482
Any idea how to fix it?
    OS version: 10.9.2
    MacBook Pro 13-inch Mid 2012
Processor 2.9 GHz Intrel Core i7
    Memory 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3

I have a similar problem on our G3 iBook with Panther. Most of the keys don't work, and of the four or five that do, they print only gibberish.
For a while I had control of the "C" key, and I was able to start from the Installation CD-ROM. I ran Disk Utility. It found and repaired a whole bunch of permissions and reported no problem with the hard disk. But I still cannot use the keys, and since then I've lost the use of the "C" also.
Because I cannot use the keyboard, I cannot type in my administrator's password, and for that reason I cannot use System Preferences to start from the Installation CD-ROM. I did not see the Hardware Test on the CD-ROM, but it sounds interesting.
Any ideas on how to get back to the CD-ROM when my keyboard doesn't work?

  • HP P2035n not recognized after migration from Airport

OS X 10.5.8/intel (multiple computers) and one 10.6.3
Installed the P2035n software from included CD (which matches the latest version available from HP site).
We had our HP LaserJet P2035n connected via USB to our workgroup's Airport Extreme Base Station, and had various Macs connected to the Airport via wireless, and 1 directly via ethernet (and the Airport was connected to the University WAN/internet via ethernet). In this situation, installing the printer always went flawlessly, and we could select the printer from the "Add Printer" dialog (Default tab) and it would automatically detect the printer model (HP LaserJet P2030 Series) when selected.
We had to take down our Airport and are now all connected via ethernet to the local network/internet. When setting up the printer again via IP -> LPD (or IP -> IPP, or IP -> HP JetDirect), the printer only comes up as "Generic PostScript Printer".
Picking "Select a driver to use..." does not have "HP LaserJet P2030 Series" as an option (closest match is the "P2015 Series" plus the usual array of other printer types and brands).
The printer Self Test page clearly shows an IP address given to it, and we can connect to the printer options via its internal web server, and a WinXP machine can print to the printer after installing the driver downloaded from the HP site.
The firmware is 20081120, which is the newest version, I believe.
In /Library/Printers/PPDs (10.5; 10.6 has an extra P2055.gz file), I have the following (notice lack of P2030.gz) files:
    HP LaserJet P2015.gz
    HP LaserJet P3004.gz
    HP LaserJet P3005.gz
    HP LaserJet P4010_P4510 Series.gz
We have other printers connected to the network the same way (direct ethernet connection), and those models were recognized immediately (Lexmark T430, HP LaserJet 2200, and HP Color LaserJet CP3525) by all the computers we're using after entering the IP# in Add Printer > IP > LPD.
It's only the HP P2035n that's giving us trouble. I've also tried manually installing the HP PPDs directly from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL339 , which had previously shown up (and been installed) via Software Update.
I tried to connect the printer via USB directly into one of the computers, and the computer immediately found and recognized the correct model (P2030 Series). However, unplugging the USB printer, removing the installed printer from the PrefPane, and trying again via IP/JetDirect printing failed once more.
What can I do to have the correct printer model be recognized for the HP P2035n when not using a USB connection?

So I downloaded Apple's HP drivers for 10.6 from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907 and installed them on the single 10.6 machine we have in the group (the previous attempts at this were on 10.5 machines with Apple's 10.5 drivers).
Installing those drivers let the 10.6 machine properly determine the correct printer model when installing it.
Looking at the package receipt (and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669), the 10.6 drivers do include a printer description for the HP LaserJet P2035, but it is not there in the list for the 10.5 printers (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1893).
So why are the 10.5 machines only installing the printer properly when connected via USB? Does the printer have an internal PPD copy that it can only distribute via a USB connection? Or how can I get a copy of the PPD for 10.5 (the 10.6 PPD points to paths that don't exist on the 10.5 machines (/Library/Printers/hp/laserjet/hplaserjetzjs.bundle/), so I doubt I can just copy the 10.6 version and have it work properly.

  • IPod not recognized after restoring from Mac format.

    Hey,
I used my old iPod photo with my Mac for a long time. Recently I got a new iPod video and enjoy it a lot. I ended up selling my old iPod to my dad on the conditions that I had to put all the music on there for him .
Anyway, I know that Mac formatted iPods aren't recognizable on Windows PC's. Thus, I restored my old iPod to its original factory settings using the iPod software updater/restorer before trying to load my dad's library from the PC. However, the iPod is still not being recognized by the PC. And when I try the update/restore on the PC it says "iPod service error." It does show up in the "My Computer" folder, however it says the disk must be formatted. If I formatted it manually on the PC and then tried restore on the PC would it then work?
    Thanks.

NEVERMIND. IGNORE TOPIC. My issue has been resolved.

The Toshiba ext. Also I see it in the computer management/disk management area as healthy.  However, I obviouly cannot change files. I just noticed that there is no storage amount listed with the C:: Native Drive, nor in the D: disk drive when I have a DVD in it.  I've reassigned letters to the external drives and done the powereing on/off rebooting suggestions without resolution.  Any advice?

  • Macbook Pro dark screen after disconnecting from Cinema Display

    Dear all,
    the issue I am having:
    - after disconnecting from Cinema display (having first put my Macbook Pro in "sleep" mode) I just ca't make the Macbook pro scren show anything....black display
    - but is it really asleep? NO!!! It just STILL believes it's connected to the Cinema Display
That's what I though was happening, so I thought: "if I now plug in the thunderbolt-to-VGA dongle that I use for the videoprojector then the screen might come back... and.... Voilá! It comes back, BUT starts flickering until in the end it just dissappears....
I can reproduce the error all the time. Worse than that: a reboot does not help at all.
Looks like there is an internal hardware switch that must be left "engaged" and then the Mac just believes it is connected to an External screen and sends the signal though the thuderbolt port instead of through the screen!!!
    WEIRD error/bug or whatever!!
I have no idea how to make this reach the Apple guys.... I tried to report a Bug but they asked me to join in as Apple developer which I just can't do (for working issues).
Can anyone tell me if they have had this problem, and whether Apple is taking care of it?
(this reminds me of an issue with an internal switch with the headphones in my old MacBook Pro.... after disconnecting the headphones, the internal switch was not being disengaged, so sound would NEVER come out as it was being sent to the headphones instead of to the speakers... Same problem here but with the Image??? :-((( )

Sometimes I experience the same after disconnecting my 24" display (in seldom cases, the mouse cursor is not painted correctly, as well).
Can you check - when it happens - if in System Profiler > Hardware > Graphic > Quartz Extreme is listed as 'supported'. I found it to be 'not supported' when the scrolling and display behaves strangly. Also the Menu Bar is not transparent any more.
Next to rebooting, logout and login again fixed the issue for me. But I am also looking for a better fix/explanation.

  • After installing Mountain Lion my MacBookPro crashes after disconnecting from Cinema Display

Ever since I installed Mountain Lion on my 15" MacBookPro (early 2011 first with Tunderbolt connector) it crashes after disconnecting from Cinema display (this Cinema does not have Thunderbolt but mini display port). It woked fine under Lion.
This crash occurs in following situation:
MacBookPro is in closed clam shell operation. When Cinema display is still connected, I put MacBookPro into sleep. Then I disconnect Cinema display mini diplay connector from Thuderbotl port.
When I get home and open MacBookPro it is in deep kernel crash.
    It happens every time.
Any ideas how to fix this?
    Thanks

  • HT202274 Password change old password not recognized after 10.9.5 upgrade

    God bless you, peace.
macbook pro 2012 user password not recognized after 10.9.4 too 10.9.5 upgrade plus tech work at apple.
I want to change user password, it is allowing me to get into user account and admin account on computer but I recently changed it for the tech work to be done. I would like to put the password back now to old password or a new one but... The few days old new password pre update and pre tech work is not being accepted to allow me to change to another password.
recent update, after 10.9.4 to 10.9.5 update and apple tech work done.
    1. Tech work replaced optical drive,
    2. 10.9.4 to 10.9.5 upgrade left computer endlessly booting up, then got into finder window tried to read backup drive and screen went to black curser and could not backup information as techs decided may need to be done before I left it with them.
    3. Also track pad was not (is not again) selecting text to drag unless real hard press and then only intermittently would select text or just drop the selection (not hold the selected text after a long scroll select, did work at first after tech work but back to not working). It is still not responding easily when pressed, but it is much better, as they did something with software they said. Today While typing this I am trying to select words misspelled and it does not select them unless I press not as hard it is becoming the same as before I see now, sometimes less pressure is needed but more than should be used.
I noticed today after tech work The Spell check is not responding with a two finger tap on the red underlined misspelled words without multiple try's with two finger tap. The curser moves around after selecting words also, or when selecting words so hard the curser moves to another place not on the desired words or check box. The curser arrow tip should select the word but it does not recognize unless I put the tail of the arrow onto the word then it recognizes the misspelled word for spell check on two finger gesture.
It looks like I need to take it back, I tried to call and check to confirm if the track pad intermittently and curser adjustment was serviced. In order to verify I had called three times to get that information to no avail. endless looped in the phone que, one would answer take info and then forward me to a endless loop dial ing phone that never was picked up, supposedly at the Bay street store tech section. Phone voice mail from apple support status on the repair, ...Juliano from Bay Street Apple repair store Emeryville, ca left a voice message... just generically said optical drive replacement is successfulI, I noticed right away three items were to be addressed but only the optical drive was mentioned, so I called three times to try and verify the other problems. One whole minute just to select this text and copy it to notes for a backup. It would not select at first, then after selected it would not copy it, then it would not paste to notes, it paste the last cut and paste I did 10 minutes ago.
I do not have a easy excellent wifi connection for my wifi only phone and would prefer email or chat for repair help. apple Repair No: R142180337

Try running the combo update. It fixes more files/data than the App Store upgrade.

  • Logitech trackball not recognized after 10.5.8 update- LCC 3.1 needed

Logitech Trackman wireless trackball was not recognized after 10.5.8 upgrade. At re-boot, the "searching for bluetooth mouse" screen appeared, pushing the re-set button on the wireless base and trackball did not solve the problem.
Had to plug in my Apple mouse (worked immediately), go to the Logitech website and download the latest Logitech Control Center software for Snow Leopard, dated 9/22/09 (version 3.1)
After install and re-start, Logitech hardware worked perfectly, as before.
Not sure if it would avoid this issue, but I recommend installing LCC 3.1 before you install the 10.5.8 update. That or be sure you have an Apple mouse on hand.

  • Lightroom 4.4 not recognizing RAW files from supported cameras

I started to get problems with Lightroom not recognizing RAW files from my Fuji XE-1 and Canon 5D Mark 3 cameras but I thought it was a problem with RC. After downloading some files today in 4.4 without a problem I encountered the same error message (unable to inport listed RAW files) again. The files open fine in Bridge. Any idea what is causing this problem?

    Hi Geoff
I use a Mac with the latest version of Mountain Lion OS. The image files are being imported from the cards; in the case of the Fuji an SD card inserted in the card reader slot on the Mac and in the case of the Canon a CF flash card in a card reader attached to the Mac.
Appreciate any help you can provide.

  • No internet access after disconnecting from VPN

    Summary:
windows fails to restore normal network after disconnecting from a VPN network, the PPP adapter which represent VPN connection stays in the interface list even after disconnection. system has no network access to anywhere.
    Synopsis:
    a. Win 7 Pro x64 Client computer in a home network without any corporate firewall software connects successfully to VPN using windows VPN connection. (Rasdial)
    b. after disconnecting from VPN, client lost internet and local connections.
    c. ipconfig -all shows PPP adapter (VPN) still exits as an network interface in nonoperational state.
    d. pinging any ip address except localhost results in "no resources" error.
    e. trying to dial VPN again results in "element not found" error.
    Solutions I tried so far:
    ipconfig -release and ipconfig -renew.
    Disable / Enable Wireless Adapter.
    rasdial "vpn connection" /d
currently the only solution is restarting the PC after each VPN usage which is very frustrating.

Hi Ivan and thanks for your reply,
I tried "netsh winsock reset", unfortunately it didn't fix the problem.
The status Icon is normal, no indication of limited or no connectivity, I can ping and open the router webpage at 192.168.1.1.
here is the result of ip config command, hope it helps, if you want I can provide netstat result or any other net diag command you want.
as you can see the PPP adapter still in the list which it shouldn't be.
