what do I do when all I see is an itunes icon with power cord in the display after an update?

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

IPad not responding after hard reset

My iPad 2 is not responding normally, voice assistance has turned on automatically, I need to triple tap icons to open, and the device is generally operating slowly. I have tried a hard reset, but the issue remains and I can't seem to find the reset function in the general menu settings. Anyone else experienced similar problems. Any assistance greatly appreciated?

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode

Do you mean evil your device is not recognised in iTunes for Windows? If so,
Firstly, make sure that your device is not hidden (left hand pane). If it just reads device then toggle between SHOW and HIDE.
Secondly, try all the other ports on your computer, even a number of times.
Thirdly, if you have another computer try plugging your device into it without taking any action, give it a moment, remove it and try it back in your other computer again.

Ipad Not Responding/Turning on Fully

My Ipad 2 is not responding an just stays on the black screen with the apple symbol showing.
The last thing i was doing on the Ipad was playing Farm Story an it was very slow to responded.
I then turned the Ipad off to possible reset the system. When i hit the power button to turn back on it would just appear to the black screen with the apple.
I have tried to reset the ipad, that does nothin but return to black screen with Apple symbol.
I tried plugging it into the Computer it will not sync too the computer, an it will not recoginze the ipad.
I do not know any other ways to possibly get my Ipad turned back on.
Any Knowlege would be helpful.

If you are running iTunes 11 - make sure that the iPad is not being seen in iTunes and do it like this. Enable the sidebar. Launch iTunes and from the menu at the top - View>Show Sidebar. Once the sidebar is enabled, connect the iPad and see if it appears in the left sidebar under the devices heading. If it does, then you can restore the iPad using iTunes and you might even be able to backup before you restore.

If the iPad is not being recognized in iTunes, you will have to use recovery mode which will also erase the device. Recovery Mode is mentioned and linked at the end of the article above.
Additional Information
If your device is continually restarting, not responding, or showing the Apple logo with no progress bar or a stopped progress bar, place the device into recovery mode and try restoring again.

If that fails to start the iPad, you will need to restore the device. Read this all the way to the end and take note of Recovery Mode. You may need it.

Ipad not responding to safari, itunes or app store

Did the latest softare update and now I can't open up itunes, safari or app store. All settings are set properly. Deleted cookies, etc., turned it off and back on. Help!

Saw this on another post.
Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

OK. That's what I thought you meant, but the terminology was confusing to me. I get it now.
Did you try going to the Videos App, tap on Movies or TV shows - whichever one you want to delete, then tap the Edit button in the upper right corner. All of the videos will have an X in the upper left corner of their icons. Tap on that X to delete that movie or TV Show. Tap the Done button when you are finished.
However, you have a problem that you need to fix. Your Settings app is crashing (taking you back to the home screen when you try to use it) and that's not a good thing. You need to be able to use the settings app. Quitting the apps and rebooting didn't help?

HI. It's been awhile since your post. Have you gotten it fixed? Or did you give up? I have an ipad mini that has a usage problem, except it just doesn't recognize videos. So it lists all the apps, but for videos it says NO DATA. I've called apple, been to the store and am about ready to sell it. If anyone will buy it. I've tried resets. 4 different kinds. Including a firmware update where they wiped the O/S and reinstalled the latest version. Which is what was on there to begin with. Still doesn't work. If you still have it and it's still not working, call apple care. And keep calling back. Over and over and over, again and again. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. Good luck.

Let's start with iTunes.
Have you updated iTunes to 11.1.5, because the previous version did appear to have an issue about seeing iPods?
With iTunes 11.1.5 installed, look in Edit/Preferences/Devices, (or use the ALT key, followed by the E key and then the F key) and make sure that the box named Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically does not have a tick in the box.
Once you have doen those two things, check to see if the iPod is seen by iTunes.

OS stands for Operating System. (In computer speak, IO means Input/Output.)
iOS originally stood for iPhone Operating System, but it now refers to the iPod Touch and iPhone. The iPod Classic, which you have listed in your profile as your iPod, does not use iOS.
I assume that you have been listening to the Podcast in your iTunes on the computer as you cannot transfer it to your iPod. It's what I'd do.

How can I salvage an iPad Mini that will not restart, reset or respond to Recover phase via iTunes and is not responding to any functions and will not access Home? Thanks

I have an iPad mini that will not respond and is non functional. It continues to intermittently try to automatically restart, access home page without success. It will not accept normal charge. I have tried to manually restart, reset and have been unsuccessful. It will not allow a Recover attempt via iTunes as well. Do you have any suggestions before I consider a replacement? Thanks.
