IPad not seen by iTunes or computer

Everything was fine as I started to do the software update - I was even reminded to sync the apps I'd bought on the iPad, so iTunes could certainly see it then. Went through all the expected stages to download and install the update, but then I got the 'Connect to iTunes' symbol on the iPad. I tried a different USB port and my iPhone cable in case one of those was the problem but made no difference.
So I followed the advice at http://support.apple.co./kb/HT1925 and ended up uninstalling and reinstalling everything Apple, which went fine - iTunes started up and recognised that the iPad was in recovery mode, and so I did the full factory reset and ... got the 'Connect to iTunes' symbol again.
Bit stuck now. Can anyone help?
Pat

Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPad Software Updates" and delete the "iPad1,13.2.2_7B500Restore.ipsw" file. Start iTunes and connect the iPad, iTunes will then re-download the update file.

Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes installed on the Mac. If you do not have it - download it here.

You can also update from Software Update as well from the menu at the top of the screen if you like
Sometimes this happens to me and this always works when it happens. Quit iTunes, restart your Mac and if necessary, restart the iPad. If that doesn't  work, you might be able to find some help here.

  • IPod touch and iPad not recognized by iTunes or computer

I have both an iPod touch (4th gen maybe?) and an iPad. A few days ago I synched both earlier in the day and no problems. That night I downloaded the latest iTunes update and when I tried to synch both devices nothing happened. The computer will charge the devices but they don't appear on iTunes or the My Computer.
I looked thru the discussion board and I went thru the steps of restarting my AMDS, that didn't work. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and Quick Time and nothing happens. iTunes works fine. My library is intact but it won't recognize my devices. I've had my iPod touch for a little over a year and my iPad since this past Christmas with no problems until now.
    Thank you.

Thanks for the response but this didn't work for me. I went thru the whole comprehensive set of steps and still iTunes doesn't recognize either device. I'm not sure what else to do. My husband thinks I should restore the computer to an earlier date prior to the last iTunes software update. Not sure what else to do. For now, both the iPod and the iPad work fine. I just can't synch them.

  • Ipad not syncing to itunes and computer recognises it as a camera

    please help

If the computer sees it, then that's good. It means the connection is good. Try using different USB ports for your iPad. You can also try uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes. Your computer sees it, iTunes doesn't, which means iTunes just needs to 'refind' it.
That's what the uninstalling/reinstalling might do.
Also, if you're plugged into a hub or extender, try plugging it directly into your computer box.

  • Reset my old iPad, now not seen in iTunes devices

I'm giving my old original iPad to my Dad. Just wiped it using the iPad (settings/general/reset). I used the iPad to set up as a new device. Plugged it into my computer expecting to see it pop up on the iTunes devices section, but it hasn't appeared. However, the old back up for it, which was called OLD IPAD, has disappeared from iTunes devices.
I want to pick and chose via iTunes the stuff I want to put on for my Dad, how can I get iTunes to see it?

  • IPad not recognized by iTunes

    I have the following problem:
My new iPad is not connecting to iTunes. When I insert the USB cable I hear the USB-connect sound of windows, but in iTunes nothing happens.
However my previous iPad and iPhone are connecting without any problems. I followed all the steps in the guide on the Apple Support page, including completely deleting and reinstalling iTunes. Nothing helped.
    My stuff:
    OS: Windows 7
    Itunes: latest version
iPad with retina display, iOS 6.1 - the new one that will not connect
iPad 2, iOS 6.1 - connecting without problems
IPhone 4, iOS 6.1 - connecting without problems
Can anyone help me and solve this problem of my new iPad not connecting to iTunes?

I found a solution. It seems that Windows had a setting selected that drivers are not automatically installed if not available on the computer. So I changed this setting and my iPad was immediately recognized.
For people with the same problem: I went to: Control Panel > Devices and printers. Under Unknown I saw my iPad, so I right clicked and selected: Solve problems. Then it said something about missing drivers so I chose to install them. In addition the problem solve wizard pointed me to the setting in windows that drivers are not automatically installed.

  • My iphone4 is not seen on itunes. When I plug the iphone the device does not recognize it but the pc recognizes it as a camera or something. What can I do?

My Iphone is not seen on itunes when I plug it. I've tried everything that I found on the internet. but it still doesn't work, so I can't sync my iphone. What can I do? I have checked all the USB ports, I have desinstalled and installed again itunes, and I have run out of ideas.

When you plug it it, it should recognize it as an Apple IPHONE under devices. It will then bring the Camera/Connection wizard for the photos on the device. When you plug into different USB, it should bring the hardware wizard and tell you what its installing, what happens?
Under Device Manager, under Imaging Devices it will show up as Apple IPHONE. Is this being shown in your computer?

  • Ipad not recognized in itunes

I'm sick of this....iPad is recognized by Windows 7 PC, but not in iTunes. Latest versions of all software - Windows 64 bit, iTunes 64 bit. I uninstall iTunes and reinstall, and it recognizes my iPad, but after computer shutdown and reboot, it's back to the same problem. I thought apple was supposed to be great?

i am trying to sync iphone 5 to itunes but it says "iTunes could not connect to the iphone as an error occured while reading from the device " and the iphone is not seen on itunes........

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. And then reboot your computer.
See if that fixes your problem.

  • How do I delete photos in iPad not currently in ITunes?

I'm doing this for wife who has iPad, (1st gen; not new iPad 2). When she got it she wanted, "her photos," from her computer in her iPad. Happy to accomodate, I managed to load all 3,000 photos from her Nikon Picture Project software into her iPad. Now she does not want that many and I've been trying for a month to delete all of them. They are not in iTunes or I'd uncheck them there and re-synch, which, I'm told would wipe them out.
I simply don't know how to delete them.
    Can anyone help? Thanks,
    Dennis

HERE IS THE ANSWER: Use your Mac computer and open the "Preview" application. 1. Connect your iPad (and/or iPhone).
    2. Open the application named "Preview" on your Mac (Click on the Macintosh HD icon or open the Finder application and search for the application named "Preview," then click on the application to open it. Or look under Macintosh HD > Applications > Preview.)
    2. In the Preview application toward the very top of your screen, click File > Import From Camera (then click on the name of your iPad or iPhone)...
    3. Near the lower left corner of the Preview application, click on the icon with the four tiny squares. That will give you a better view of all of your pictures.
    4. Select the pictures you want to delete.
    5. Click on the red delete icon at the bottom of the screen. (Looks like a red circle with a slash through it.) That will delete the pictures.
This works for iPhone, but not iPad.  No pictures show up in preview as they do with iPhone.
BTW, Command/Click, as usual, allows multiple photo selections and then click Delte button to delete many photos.
Too bad this doesn't work for iPad.

  • Ipad not connecting in itunes

Ipad not connecting to itunes, but is recognised thru Win Explorer while connect to computer? Any advice to resolve?

Thanks for response. I have uninstalled itunes and re-downloaded (13/5/2011). I did have the latest version previously.
New itunes loaded. I tried connecting ipad once itunes is open, but still itunes is not recognising IPAD. Ipad is connected to computer - visible still through Win Explorer.
It is noted once IPAD is connected "Autoplay" via Windows 7 opens up. Itunes is not listed as a default to open files.
I have tried all ports on computer, and new cables  - no luck. I welcome some further feedback. The itunes connecting to iPAD about 10 days ago when I last connected.

  • Ipad not detected by itunes

Ipad not detected by itunes...clues to why?

Sometimes all that it takes is to quit iTunes, restart your computer and reset your iPad. Maybe try switching USB ports as well.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the button.
Sometimes, it isn't quite that easy and that is why these kb articles may come in handy.
