Ipad not starting up after complete drain

I'm charging the iPad using the wall adapter. Because I saw online it said it's good to drain the battery. I usually use up the battery before charging it. But these few days I kept having problems of charging.
Now the iPad displays a low battery image. This usually shows up when we start charging after the complete drain. It used to be very fast to start up, but it has been showing this even after 2, 3 hours. The ipad won't start.
This problem only started a few days ago. At first it won't charge, but after one day it seemed to be charging normally again. But after that, it charged very slow sometimes. It charged only to 2%.
I saw the discussions, there are a lot of people having the charging issue.
My ipad is still under warranty, though it's going to expire soon. I know that I need to send it to repair, but I need to back up first. Without turning on the ipad, I can't even back up now.

For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through one charge cycle per month. Not every day.

  • MacBook Pro 17" (Late 2007) not starting up after battery calibration (depleted)

Hi, I have spent most of today skimming through the advice given on these forums, but to no avail. I cannot power up my MBP. Since it is Sunday, I will give my best to find every piece of "soft" advice to try before giving up my daily workhorse to the official Apple Support.
    Machine specs:
    MacBook Pro 17" Hi-Res pre-unibody (2007)
Second battery - original bloated about a year ago (lasted 4 yrs! of continuous use)
    SSD primary, HDD secondary drives
    6GB om RAM
    2.4GHz C2D
    MacOS 10.6.8
Logic board replaced a few years back with faulty graphics (re-call).
    This is what happened:
I decided to recalibrate my MBP (replaced, non-original NuPower) battery over the weekend.
I'm using my laptop at home and at the office, plugged in mostly. So it was advised to perform this procedure for the sake of a healthy battery.
Dreained it to the state of sleep nd then waited for the sleep light to go off.
A couple of hours passed after that when I returned to my desk and plugged in the adapter.
The LED went on GREEN (weird, I thought, but hoped it just did not pick up the completely drained battery right away).
Let it rest with that state for several hours. LED remained GREEN at all times.
Tha laptop sat still on the desk the whole time...
    This is what I tried:
Unplugged, took battery out briefly, replugged - GREEN indicator.
Tried another adapter (60W instead of the original 85W), that adapter showed green as well.
Tried my AC adapter to charge another MacBook - charged fine, AMBER light.
    - THIS MEANS the problem is with my MBP unit (incl battery).
Unplugged, took battery out, held the power button for 5secs (SMC reset), reassembled - no improvement
Tried all key-combos, held power button for 10secs
Took the battery out and tried to bott with plugged adapter, this normally works fine, but now nothing - no sound whatsoever
    - THIS MEANS the issues is not with the battery, it is with the power management.
Sad thing is, that if it is the motherboard somehow that got damaged by itself, it means the end of this fine and capable machine. It is not worth the investment of a replacement motherboard and buying them from ebay is not a sustainable option
Tomorrow I will swap AC-adapters and batteries with an identical model of a friend. I will let you know.
I expect little you can help me with, but for future reference, the story might prove useful for similar cases. I was upset and surprised mainly because of the timing - not powering up after drained battery during calibration process.

Dreained it to the state of sleep nd then waited for the sleep light to go off.
A couple of hours passed after that when I returned to my desk and plugged in the adapter.
Did you wait 5+ hours?  Per article - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH7261 "After your computer goes to sleep, turn it off or allow it to sleep for five hours or longer."

How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

Same thing happens when i click restart.
No difference when i run it in Safe mode. And it won't let me create a new profile either. Is there anyway else i can extract my bookmarks? This is driving me crazy!

Did the crash reporter send any crash reports?<br />
You can see the crash reports in this folder:
    "C:\Users\&lt;user&gt;\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports"
    See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad
See also [[Firefox crashes when you open it]]
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br /><br />
    See [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting&#58; Make a new profile]]<br /><br />
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"<br /><br />
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)<br /><br />
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox<br /><br />
If that still causes the same problem then do a clean reinstall and remove the Firefox program folder.
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

  • 2007 Mac Book pro Shuts down at startup attempt. Tried reloading OSX and will not start up after that.

My Mac Book Pro started having issues. I tried to relaod the operating system and it worked for a moment. When I tried to do a time machine back up it failed.
Now itr Shuts down at startup attempt. Tried reloading OSX and will not start up after that.

    Dr.Conga,
did you try to do a Time Machine backup from your MacBook Pro, or a Time Machine restoration to it?
Are you trying to reload your current version of OS X (10.7.4, to judge from your signature), or are you trying to reload the version of Mac OS X that came on the grey installation DVDs that originally came with your MacBook Pro?

Extensions can sometimes be the cause of problems. If the problem does not occur in Safe Mode, then you can disable your extensions one-by-one until you find out which one is causing the problem. See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]

  • Logic pro not starting up after install.

Ive tried to install Logic pro twice and both time it will not start up after install. can someone tell me what is the best way to install this program correctly? should i just pay apple more money to install the program for me?

I have exactly the same problem. Whilst 8.0.1 would hang during startup without displaying the splash screen intermittently 8.0.2 crashs every time a few seconds after displaying the splash screen.
Although my computer is almost 6 years old it is perfectly adequate for audio work. I hope this is fixed soon. Unimpressed with the quality control.

    Hi MJTOOTS,
Since you are getting to the login screen, it is booting past the "gray screen" phase, so try the steps in this article, like a Safe Boot.

  • New Macbook Pro does not start up after updating...HELP!!!

    Hi,
My new Macbook Pro does not start up after it got updated. The first time I used it, it was perfect. I updated it and restarted it when it told me to but it doesn't boot. It shows an apple and a spinning circle when it turns on but that's it.

  • IPhoto does not start up after upgrading

On my new iMac iPhoto does not start up after migrating. Upgrade from iPhoto 6/Snow Leopard > Lion 10.7.1 with iPhoto 9.1.5. When the conversion is finished I can see the new library, it works allright. And with packet-inspection (or how is that called in English) all maps & data seems to be OK; I can check the seperate pics.
But: iPhoto won't start up a second time (grey screen with infinite spinning wait cursor). The same thing is happening when I add a new library and drop in some pictures.
    What can cause this problem?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
    Regards
    TD

  • HT201412 I have forgotten my Security password, My iPad not starting, how to reset security password

I have forgotten my security code, Ipad not starting , how to reset security code

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode

  • R12-oafm, forms and oacore not starting up after IP adress change

    Heloo my friend;
I had problem while i changed my server IP...when i start adstrtall.sh script its end wiht :
adstrtal.sh: Exiting with status 3 and adoafmctl.sh: exiting with status 204 ...soo my login page doesnt come to explorer and it gives HTTP 404 page not found error
    So here is the solution:
    Cause
The OC4J lock files contains the IP adress, after the ip adress change the lock files includes the wrong Ip adress which caused the OJ4J to fail
    Solution
1 - open a new shell and set your apps environment
    2 - cd $ADMIN_SCRIPTS_HOME
    3 - adopmnctl.sh stop
4 - check if it is really down: ps -ef grep grep opm
    5 - delete the following:
    rm -fr $INST_TOP/ora/10.1.3/j2ee/oacore/persistence/*
    rm -fr $INST_TOP/ora/10.1.3/j2ee/oafm/persistence/*
    rm -fr $INST_TOP/ora/10.1.3/j2ee/forms/persistence/*
    6 - adopmnctl.sh start
7 - check if the issue has been resolved: adapcctl.sh status
    I hope its helpful

  • My MBP will not start up after restart

My MBP (late 2011 running 10.8.something - receintly updated) will not start up after I had to do a restart to install Blackberry Desktop software (for my wife, I promise).  It chimes, gets past the grey screen with the Apple logo and then just sits on the login screen but with the background only, no account or anything.  My mouse pointer is there and moves but nothing else.  Anyone have any idea?

Reboot holding the Shift key down on a wired or built in keyboard, this is Safe Mode and will disable the at boot kernel extension file that Blackberry installed.
When you get in uninstall the software using their uninstaller. Then reboot normally again, visit their website for a update if there is one.
Blackberry/RIM software has been causing issues around here lately.
If your machine refuses to boot normally again, then run through this list 1-8,, by #8 your machine should be booting normally again.
