IPad numbers-sharing

Is it possible to share a numbers document (via ipad) with a friend I where we can both edit and see the changes in real time? (Like google docs)

Chia,
I hope someone who owns two iOS devices and uses Numbers will respond. My experience with Numbers for Mac and one iOS device is that at least some changes are synced live to the other device. I've watched as changes on one device appeaer on the other. I haven't seen any specs on how this is supposed to work.
My suggestion is that you and your friend run some experiments. Let us know what you learn.

I just bought a new ipad and shared my documents in Pages from the old ipad to my cloud, but the only documents showing on my new pad is the ones that was not in folders. Have I lost my documents for ever?

Thank you, but after an hour with apple support on the phone we came to the conclusion that the documents are lost... So the lesson is, don't trust icloud as a back up solution! A month worth of work down the drain...

  • How do i add a timestamp in ipad numbers

I cant find any where better to post this so I hope it is ok here if not please feel free to remove to a better section
As the title states really I need to enter a number in D2 and then D3 needs to show the time of the entry in D2.
I assume it goes down the lines of if D2 > 0 and D3 = "" then D3 = Time. But I have never used spread sheets at all, this is my first encounter and the Ipad numbers syntax is pretty confusing for a nuube.
    Any advice would be great

@ SG111 Thanks for the reply but I dont think you understand the question my friend, your answer is not relevant to what i was asking at all
    @ T quinn
1 it seems ludicrous that it is impossible to simply add a time stamp it seems a very important yet simple task to use a timestamp in a spread sheet so why not have it in numbers?
It seems it is impossible from what i gather yet it seems so easy to do with the logic after all many applications use a very simple time for input criteria.
I see no issue with the logic that if D3 ="" and D2>0 then Time stamp D3. Once D3="NOW" it no longer ="" and should not alter the time when the calcs are made.....
My main issue is actually getting the syntax right in the numbers logic functions
Maybe Numbers simply does not allow it in which case it is a pretty useless piece of software indeed!
Any way thanks for the help

  • Ipad numbers

Column will not sum on ipad numbers. I have three numbers in a column and when I try to sum the column I get zero for the results. I can't see what I am doing wrong.

If the numbers are being stored as numbers it will not sum. Check your formatting and verify that it is stored in some numerical format.
That's the first thing i always check when I get that error.

  • IPad Numbers and Dates

    Hi
Firstly, what appears to be a bug when trying to reformat a date cell/column - if I set to d/m/yy it turns on time, if I then go down and set time to NONE it changes the year format to yyyy. Pretty annoying.
Suggestion - keyboard for date fields should have now/today button - would make a lot of sense.
Is there a way of logging bug reports (outside of picking up a phone and talking to the admittedly very helpful guys in Bangalore)?
    thanks
    Andrew

I'm using iPad Numbers 1.1. The keyboard used for date fields DOES have a "Today" button. It doesn't show up when the "month" sub-field is selected (i.e. on the keyboard which has month names on the number buttons) because there isn't really room for it on the screen, but it does show up when the "day" or "year" sub-field is selected. It's to the right of the zero, where the decimal point would be on the straight numeric keypad.
In addition, the keyboard used for the "hour", "minute", and "second" sub-fields has a "Now" button, in the same place.

  • Using SUMIFS on iPad Numbers has anyone had trouble using the keypad relational symbols in the "conditions" field?

The iPad Numbers has a very nice data entry keyboard for expressing conditions.  They have the usual =, <, > but also have the single symbol version of >=, <= and <> (as an equals with a slash through it), however, if you try to use these keypad keys in the conditions field of the SUMIFS, it returns a syntax error.  After seeing some examples of Numbers '09 I discovered I had to express a relation inside double quotes, " ", which means the text keyboard is displayed and the very nice data entry keyboard is gone along with the nice symbols.  Has anyone seen this and am I doing something wrong or is this another bug?  Thanks.

The xxxIF functions have (for as long as I have used them) required a text string as the argument unless it was equal to a value of a cell, with no logical operators. so it is not something new, its been that way for decades and I personally think Apple might have done it differently if they didnt have to maintain compatiability with older spreadsheet programs.
i.e. not a bug, ensures backward compatability.

  • Need help with Drop down cells on IPAD Numbers

    Hy everyone:
Im new in this forum and Im not god writing, so sorry for my english.
I have a question about using Drop down cells on Numbers in the IPAD version. In Numbers I normally can use drop down cell but some days ago i bought the IPAD and Iwork suit, and i import some numbers documents that I have done. When I tried to drop the menu of a cell I could not.
I would like to know is their is a way to see this type of menus on IPAD Numbers.
Thanks for the attention. And I will be grateful for your answers

I don't think drop down selection is supported in iPad numbers. If you would like to see this functionality added, peas make a suggestion at http://www.apple.com/feedback
    Thanks

  • IPhoto 1.0 new iPad Facebook sharing with facebookErrDomain error 10000 failure?

iPhoto 1.0 new iPad Facebook sharing with facebookErrDomain error 10000 failure?
When using iPhoto to upload/share to Facebook, if I select certain albums to upload to, I get a popup that says "The operation could not be completed (facebookErrDomain error 10000)"
I've also noticed that iPhoto doesn't load all of my Facebook albums to choose where to upload. Besides Wall Photos, iPhoto Uploads, and create new album .. it only shows 24 previously existing albums. Which is about 1/3rd of all of my albums.

  • Why won't airdrop show up on my control center on my iPad? Also i can't get my pictures to sync from my phone to iPad through sharing.

why won't airdrop show up on my control center on my iPad? Also i can't get my pictures to sync from my phone to iPad through sharing.

AirDrop is not available on an iPad 2 or on an iPhone 4S.
To share content with AirDrop, both users need one of the following devices using iOS 7:
    iPhone 5 or later
    iPad (4th generation)
    iPad mini
    iPod touch (5th generation)

As to your photos, what sharing are you attempting?  Did you enable Photo Stream?

  • Numbers 08 export to .xls then import to iPad Numbers?

As the title suggests I need to know if I buy Numbers for my iPad would I be able to export my three important Numbers 08 files to .xls format and then import in iPad Numbers? As I already know that iPad Numbers will not open iWork'08 files (Numbers)
I don't really want to buy iWorks'09 for the laptop as well as Numbers for the iPad

The only way I've managed to export documents from my iPad is mailing it to my self, which is ok. The problem is that the numbers format is not recognized by Excel so basicly the iPad.Numbers is useless in an office environment.
    Too pity really. I

  • Ipad numbers: programming options

Hi, we are currently testing ways for our reps to work with ipads in-field, using pre-generated data. Is there a way to automate / programme numbers in order to automatically import a specific data set and do some operations like filtering etc with these data? We have several complex applications in Excel and look for a way to somehow transfer these modules to ipads.
    Thanks
    Gert

currently there is no way to "automate" ipad numbers. this would be done on the desktop using Applescript (the equivalent of using VBA in Excel to write your automation).

  • Latest ipad / numbers update breaks formulas when sorting...

I have created a workboook that summarizes onto a report page using an if then statement.  I then sort the report by descending to remove any blank fields.  Since the ipad / numbers update last week this no longer works.  Now when sorting the formulas break.  Any ideas??

    Malloy,
Formulas often break when a sort is done. What happens and whether it breaks anything depends on the formulas used.
If you want to avoid the troubles, only use formulas that employ Indirect, Index or Offset addressing. All standard relative references will try to follow the sorted data and end up in a mess.
Another way around this is to set aside the formula for the first row of data, as text. Delete the formulas. Do the Sort. Add the formulas back in, starting with the one you set aside as text.

  • Re: How do I import my iPad numbers spreadsheets to numbers on the iMac?

How about if I had hundreds if excel spreadsheets that I wanted to save to Numbers on my iPad? I know how to do this one by one, but it will take forever.

There are two ways I know of to get your Numbers (& Pages) documents from your iDevice to your Mac.
    1. Use iTunes to sync. On the iDevice tap the wrench icon & then Share and Print then Send to iTunes. When you sync your iDevice to your Mac in iTunes click on Apps & scroll down to File Sharing & select the app then the document. You can then save the document to your hard drive.
    2. Use iCloud. You'll need to have an iCloud account & enable the iWork apps on your iDevice to use it. You will probably need to tap documents then the document to upload it to the cloud. Then go to iCloud.com & click on the iWork icon then the document to download it.
