IPad office

Hi guys, is there an app on ipad/iphone that let us create word or powerpoint files?
My parents are teachers and they want to prepare their courses on iPad using "microsoft word'' and ''micrsoft powerpoint"
is there a way to import word/powerpoint files to ipad and edit them (maybe) then present in front of class on a big HD TV.????
plz help me guys.

In terms of editing/storing the documents, the options include Apple's Pages app for Word documents, Numbers for Excel spreadsheets and Keynote for Powerpoint. And from third-parties apps such as Documents To Go ('premium' version which allows editing of powerpoint documents) and QuickOffice Pro HD.

  • IWork on iPad & Office 2008 for Mac

    Hi everyone,
I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but are the iWork apps on the iPad capable of exporting documents to the Mac in a format that is readable by Office 2008 for Mac (i.e. .doc, docx, etc) or is it only iWork 09 on the Mac that is capable of opening documents created by these apps ?
    Thanks,

Actually the responses here are not correct. Steve Jobs specifically said to Walt Mossberg that he could type a document in Pages on the iPad and then send it from the same device in Word format. The iWork apps on the iPad are going to be able to both read and export to their MS Office equivalents.
To hear Jobs state this in regard to Word, go to http://kara.allthingsd.com/20100128/boomtowns-apple-ipad-day-starring-walt-mossb erg-plus-a-steve-jobs-cameo/ and look for his comments at around the 3:25 mark in the video.

  • Office app on iPad

I search for an office app on iPad.
This app have to sync with dropbox.
It should be also possible to edit word and excel files WITHOUT changing the format.
In Excel I want to use all the normal formulas. It should open the formula which are already in there.
I want to work like in office only on the iPad =)
What do you think, is this possible?

If QuickOfffice and Documents To Go won't meet your needs, then I don't think you're going to find any app that will - they are about as robust as any iPad Office app could be at the moment.
You could try using some kind of remote server or remote control of a computer running Office. For the latter, apps like Remote Desktop let you operate a computer from the iPad - so you could open the Excel document that way, but you'd have to be running it on a computer and you'd have to deal with the fact the the interface is meant for a mouse, so some fine-tuned details would be hard on a touch screen.
Another option - recently several companies have released apps to let you run Office on their remote servers. Check out OnLive Desktop or CloudOn. Haven't used them myself, but it might solve your problem.

  • Invalid security certificate error when connecting from office for iPad

    Hi,
I have Alfresco Community running on my NAS including the SharePoint protocol support and can access it from any desktop Microsoft Office application but when I try to "Add a Place" in any of the Microsoft Office for iPad apps I get the following
error message: "Cannot Connect to Site - The site doesn't have a valid security certificate." followed by "Cannot connect to Server - The server may be unavailable. Check your internet connection and try again".
    I have the following configuration
    - Qnap NAS with QTS 4.1.3
    - JRE 8.6.0
    - Tomcat 7.0.50
    - Alfresco 5.0.c with Share and SPP installed
    - Tomcat, Alfresco and Share configured for SSL on 8443 using a self-signed certificate
    - SPP configured for SSL on 7070
    - iPad Air 2, iOS 8.2 and latest office apps
    - CA and server certificate installed on the desktop computers and the iPad
Share and SPP can be reached on the respective ports and I get the websites as expected. And as mentioned desktop MS office applications can access Alfresco via SPP. But I cannot get it to work with the iPad office apps.
Can anybody help with this, please? I know I am not running SharePoint but I assume the problem with the iPad office app is the same?
    Thanks
    Peter

    1. I can't say if it is sequential or not, I have never seen a message like that myself when doing add-on update checks - but I have seen other messages, like the update server not using a secure HTTPS address after that became a requirement for updates. <br />
Plus, I have never used anything from Conduit - ''the founder of that company has a shady past with different internet companies puling all dorts of "stuff", IMO. And all Conduit add-ons were removed and banned from the official add-ons website a few years ago because of their "antics" and major user uproar at the time - just recently have we seen a few return''.
    2. Right-click individual addons and use ''Visit Homepage''' to see if that feature is being used as intended and where it takes you. Or use '''Find Update''' and see if that triggers that message, to discover which extensions are fro Conduit.
    3. IMO, you are better off updating each extension one at a time with '''Find Update''', as I mentioned above.

  • Ensuring iPad Excel v1.2 and Excel for Mac docs play happily together

I for one, was delighted with Microsoft's decision to make available most of the functionality of its iPad Office suite to users who (for whatever reason) do not require an Office 365 subscription.  Using the iPad, I frequently need to refer to and edit a complex Excel spreadsheet when away from my desk. To ensure it is always in its most up to date form, the document resides within Dropbox - and to my delight, I discovered that in the new version of Office for iPad, Dropbox can be configured as one of the Connected Services. So far so good, because the spreadsheet had never converted well to Numbers (and would have required to be completely rebuilt).
However I quickly discovered that the document would only ever open in "Read Only" form on the iPad. Which is contrary of course, to all the assurances Microsoft had given in its release of v1.2 for the iPad suite. Worse, Microsoft's own support desk people seem utterly confused about (if not ignorant of) the capability of v1.2. Their advice was either widely misleading or just plain wrong.
For those of you who may be encountering a similar issue, I have now discovered the solution quite by accident. Microsoft itself gives a broad clue, when it says some formatting styles may not be editable on the iPad. But they don't define it very extensively or suggest under what circumstances it might occur.
In this case, it was a 'Split" screen (Menu: WINDOW_SPLIT) placed on about Row 4 of the spreadsheet. Remove the split from the original document (residing in Dropbox) and hey, presto, the spreadsheet when it is next opened in Excel for iPad is fully editable (no longer "Read Only").
Removing the split screen did impair some functionality in the original spreadsheet, so I experimented again. While a split screen command is incompatible with the iPad app, it seems "Freeze Panes" (Menu: WINDOW_FREEZE PANES) is not. I have now simply replaced the Spilt command with a strategically placed "Freeze Panes" and all is now well with the world.

Yes. On your computer, instead of clicking the document open, drag it onto the pages app in your dock and the word document will automatically be converted to a pages document. On the iPad, any document you open will have a little button in the corner that looks like a share button. The button actually lets you open the document in any document editing app - including pages. On the Mac, you have the option to save all the documents in a microsoft office compatible (but do not forget to select the button each time). Also, if you put it on iCloud.com, you can download the file as a .pages, .doc, or.pdf. On the iPad, the documents are automatically saved to iCloud and can be accessed at iCloud.com from a Mac or PC. If you email it from the iPad, it can be emailed as iWork, Microsoft office, or PDF.

  • Quickoffice vs Office2 HD vs Documents to Go

    Hello Everyone,
I've been researching the various iPad office apps that are available and was hoping for some first hand user experience from you folks.
Can anyone help with their experiences with:
    Quickoffice
    Office2 HD
    Documents to Go
And perhaps anything else that may fit the bill.
These three applications all seem to, feature wise, fit my needs.
Editing of MS office documents with cloud synchronization capabilities.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Cheers.

I got sick of lots of vague reviews either praising or damning this app, so I finally bought it (on sale for $12) to see for myself. I created .docx and .xlsx files on the iPad and on a PC, and then imported/exported them back and forth to see what happened. For everyone like me who wants specifics, here you go.
    WHAT IT DOES:
On the iPad, QOC has 7 fonts and various colors, bold, italic, and underline. It supports paragraph alignment & indent controls. You can create bulleted lists (all bullet icons the same regardless of hierarchy).
    WHAT IT DOESN’T DO:
Interestingly, the Viewer function in the Mail app displays Word documents much more accurately than QOC—you just can’t edit them. You can’t create any advanced features on the iPad—header/footer, autotext (page #, auto-date, etc.). You can’t insert graphics. Numbered lists may be continued/edited if they already existed in the imported document. You can edit the cell contents of existing tables, but you can't create a new table, row, column, or edit borders.
QOC cannot display or edit the following, but it does not “strip” them from the file: shaded table cells, strikethrough, super- or subscript fonts; page breaks and portrait/landscape orientation. Unsupported fonts will be displayed in--but not permanently converted into--one of the 7 supported fonts; as a result, line breaks and alignment may appear different on the iPad display than the original font in MS Word. Extra space between paragraphs will likely appear on the iPad and text will not be wrapped around a graphic correctly; both return to normal in MS Word if you leave them alone.
The following items will be stripped from the file: watermarks, page borders, hyperlinks, footnotes. Headers/footers were sometimes stripped, and sometimes passed thru.
    SPREADSHEET
Basic font, number/date, and cell shading/border formatting options. Formatting retention seems good. Basic math, accounting, date/time, and logical formulas seem to transfer well, but more esoteric functions (e.g. COUNTIF, SUMIF) don’t; in that case, the value is displayed but the formula isn’t. These formulas aren’t stripped—as long you don’t edit those cells on the pad, the formulas will still be there when exported back to Excel. Charts will not appear in QOC, but are not stripped. Obviously, macros are out.
BOTTOM LINE: The word processor will meet the needs of 90% of users—letters, memos, and other (relatively) simple documents. Ditto for the spreadsheet. Frustration will increase with the complexity of the file, so if you want heavy-duty page layout tools, stick with “real” computer.
The user interface was good. File management and transferring files via iTunes or DropBox was easy.
So is it better than Pages/Numbers, or Document to Go, or whatever? I don't know--I don't have any of those apps. If you can live within the limitations above, then this is a worthwhile app. However, now that they're charging $19 for it, there's no $$ advantage over Pages & Numbers.

  • How can I have multiple users on iTunes (in order to connect to a shared office iPad)?

How can I have multiple users on iTunes (in order to connect to a shared office iPad)? Currently each of us has our own iTunes account, so I've made an "all office" Apple ID. However, I can't seem to get two different accounts (my personal and the office) to work on my machine. Even when I login as "the office", my personal library is still showing. Additionally, when I try to setup with a first-time use in iTunes, I get an error that I don't meet the minimum age requirement - no matter what birthdate I enter!

The library exists regardless of which user is logged in.
The only way around that is to create different user accounts on the computer.
There is no way to have 20 unique iTunes users access a shared iTunes under a single login on the computer.

  • We have 10 ipads connected to 1 computer and 1 account. How can I change/erase an account so that the seperate offices can use itunes and synchonise itselve?

    Hi there!
Our department (marketing) wanted to control the input of the iPads. We found out it was useless because our salesteam wanted to personalize the ipad (think about projectspecific items etc.) It is impossible for 1 person to control 10 iPads and deliver input for each different iPad. So we decided that each office can have its own account. But these ipads are already connected to 1 computer (i know you can connect them to a max. of 5 computers, but that is not enough in this case..) They can make there own account with their personal creditcard or that of the office. How can i disconnect the iPads en still remain the files on the iPads?
    With kind regards,
    Willeke

Whatt ype of "files" are you concerned about?  Are they purchases from the AppStore or music, video etc, or something else? If you are concerned about Apps, one method of centrally distributing apps is to purchase apps with a corporate credit card, and then "gift" them to the various employees.  The "gifted" app is sent to the email address you specify and can actually be forwarded, prior to install to another user for their use...

  • My PC crashed. Before crash I had it an office Mac, an iPhone, an iPod and an iPad. That's 2 computers and 3 deivces.  Or is it 5 authorized devices

My PC crashed. Before crash I had it an office Mac, an iPhone, an iPod and an iPad. That's 2 computers and 3 deivces.  Or is it 5 authorized devices?  Anyway, since the PC crash I bought an iMac and my office Mac was replaced by a MacBook pro.  I moved my iTunes files from my office Mac to my MacBook.  I moved my PC iTunes files to my iMac from my unaffected external hard drive.
I am now totally confused regarding what is authorized and what is not!  Only three devices appear in my iTunes account.  I "removed" the PC.  Still I am told that I can't download MY apps to my new iMac because I have 5 authorized computers.  Really?  Actually I have NO authorized computers.  Only one that has my apps still (my office Mac).
If I deauthorize all I know I can start fresh.  That makes sense.  What has be balking at the idea is the "one time per year" deauthorization!  What is the point?  Give me an accurate list allow me to deauthorization and authorize the devices I wish.  It is MY account with MY purchases,
    Advice please?

Authorization ONLY applies to computers.  NOT ipads/iphones.ipod/Apple tvs.  ONLY computers.
Deauthorize all, then authorize the active computers.

  • I use a PC for work and link it to Office 365. I also have an iphone and ipad. How do I synchronise these devices to Outlook without creating multiple copies of calendars?

I use my PC for work (MS Office and Outlook). I also use Office 365. I also have an iPhone and iPad. I'm having difficulty getting Outlook to synchronise with Apple devices. I keep getting multiple copies of calendars and not being able to see contacts. Is there a process anywhere which describes the best way to manage these devices together? Or should I just give up on the PC and buy a MacBook or Air.

Excellent. These guides got me as far as installing my preferred language pack, which gets added to the add-ons automatically (assuming the user says yes to the appearing question when Firefox is started).
However, the GUI does not change unless the user enters "about:config" and changes the locale.
Is there a way to do this from the command line? I mean, changing the locale settings.
And preferrably for all users. So even when new users get added and they start Firefox the first time, they see it appearing with the preferred locale and not in English.

Hi, i am considering to buy the new iPad Air , although it all for my work purpose , i wanted to know can i use the Microsoft Office the same way i use on my Macbook ?  please help me with the suggestions .

Microsoft haven't yet released an app version of their office programs, but there are apps that support word, excel, and powerpoint documents on an iPad.
The options include Apple's Pages app for Word documents, Numbers for Excel spreadsheets and Keynote for Powerpoint. And from third-parties apps such as Documents To Go ('premium' version) and QuickOffice Pro HD.
