IPad one, unable to update to 4.3

I purchased an ipad one, along with apple care, mostly for developer access to test out company apps, over time it appears that at some point in the past an update was attempted but never completed, an attempt was made to restore the device however this did not connect or shows a typical error unable to connect, I have followed all the resource information I can find, however nothing seems to help.
As a quick reference, I need to run apps now with at least 4.3 however it appears that there are some serious issues with this first series, in fact the thing never did work very well, so what do I have a very expensive paper weight now?  At the price I paid for this plus apple care, I could have purchased a laptop that would at least still be of some use...

Thanks for your reply, I have followed all the support materials available at least what I can find, as well as some other support communities when these failed to provide any meaningful results.

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275
I attempted to erase and restore, carefully following the recommended steps, but this failed as well, I dead ended into an error dialog requesting I call apple support, however my apple care has expired and I just refuse to pay for a support call when the problem is not on my end.
I have no network issues, the unit connects both wireless and direct through USB, I am using an iMac, 10.7.5 with the latest version of itunes, when I attempt to check for an update, I just get the standard "this version of the ipad software (4.2) is the current version
When you go through the restore process you get an error dialog that states, unable to connect however that does not appear to the accurate.
It is possible that there is a conflict between the wireless connection and the USB connection
currently I am at a loss on how to resolve this.

  • Ipad 2 unable to update or restore 1671 error

I have an IPAD2 32 GB with 4/5 GB of free space. Have had a very slow keyboard and had done a reset a few days ago with no problem/ Software was up to date as of this morning 8.3. Did a reboot because of the continuing slow and delay issues with the keyboard/ When I went back to turn it on, screen said connect to ITUNEs.  Did so. ITUNEs has the latest update both on a Windows 8 laptop and on a Windows Vista PC.Both show the ID of the IPAD. Efforts to update say there is a corrupt file although it does download and process the file. Anti-Virus in pause protection / At one point got a error 1671 message. Even tried to restore  but got the the same corrupt message/ Appears stuck in a loop. Any suggestions ?

First thing to do is make sure you have the latest version of iTunes on your computer.

  • Ipad apps unable to update

    Hi,
For the past couple of weeks I've had 23 updates to apps I've unable to update, I select 'update' and the spinning circle shows for a few seconds but then the update button reappears and nothings happened.
I thought it was because I hadn't upgraded to iOS7.1 but I upgraded that today but the problem still remains, I have also tried signing out my iTunes account, restarting and signing back in but with no success. I don't want to restore settings since I'm not sure weather it will interfere with my apps or games.
I see a lot of people having similar problems but with no fixes, also other people seem to have more of the 'waiting' problem, mine do not even begin to update.
Does anyone know what this could be?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • Unable to update apps through App Store on iPad mini: App Store says that 'All Apps are up to date'

OK, so basically I've been having this problem where I'm unable to update the apps on my iPad through the App Store. The badge icon of the App Store displays a number 8, which should mean that there are 8 apps with updates, however, upon opening the App Store and going to the 'Updates' section, my iPad tells me that 'All apps are up to date', which is both frustrating and confusing.
    I have tried:
    - Closing the App Store and removing it from the App Switcher
    - Rebooting the device
    - Logging out and then back in with my Apple ID
Also, I read elsewhere to try and individually update the apps by going to the 'Purchased' section, however this did not solve anything as none of the apps shown had an 'update' button next to them.
If anyone can offer any help, it would be greatly appreciated.

I should have mentioned before- I have been using my iPad without a computer and I haven't got access to one for a while. I was under the impression that when Apple released iOS 5, it was possible to use their devices completely independent of a computer. Hence, every device running iOS 5 or later should be usable And fully functional without a computer.
Is there any way to fix this without a computer?

  • Unable to update apps on iPad mini. I have even restored the iPad and now I can't download any of my previously purchased apps.

Can someone help me. I am using an iPad mini with iOS 7.0.4 with wifi connection. Have had no problems until recently when I was unable to update apps and then noticed that some apps would open but no data would be available in apps like intelicast and Pinterest. I have restored the iPad and now I am unable to download any of my previously purchased apps.

    1. Make sure iPad is using the latest software
    2. Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
    3. Make sure Time Zone is correct
    4. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

And is there any way to sync all my purchases and accounts to just have one... It is a bit stupid that you dont even get a list of something of what account you may of used, or some kind of hint, so you could log on to the right account. I am really stuck ...
    Please Advise......

You can't merge accounts. But you can check your purchase history:

I am very confused. When I wanna to update my apps in app store, it shows the account which is my iPhone one is not my iPad one. how can I reset to my iPad account?

And I am very confused by your query. Your iTunes account is the same on all devices - unless of course you have multiple accounts to begin with.
If you do have another Apple ID that you use for the iPad purchases, you can sign out of the account that is on the iPad in Settings>Store.
Perhaps a few more details from you could clear up the confusion???

  • I have the latest itune but i am unable to update my phone or my ipad 2 i have been in to the shop and they said i need to download a diffrent type of itunes for wifi can you please help

I have the latest iTunes but am unable to update my phone or my ipad 2 I have been in to the shop and they said I need to download a different type of iTunes for wifi I have a desk top with windows vista and wifi can you please help

We'll need more information before anyone can be of much help. What model iPhone is it, what versions of iOS are running on the iPad 2 now, what exactly are you trying to update, and what version of iTunes are you running? And what exactly is going wrong (include error messages if any).
Once we have that information, someone here can probably offer advice. Note that you cannot sync content or upgrade iOS wirelessly until you get your iPhone and iPad up to iOS 5 and that requires that you connect those devices to your computer via the Dock-USB cable.
    Regards.

  • Unable to update my  iOS on my iPad and iPhone.

I am unable to update my iOS on my iPad and iPhone. Though I have had these devices and have been updating for over a year, the issue just started with this new release (iOS 5.1).
When I connect my Pad and Phone to iTunes (Windows PC with Vista), I am told that an update is available. When I update, iTunes tries to connect to a server. Then I receive the message, "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad. The network connection could nopt be established."
When I try to update the devices iOS using WiFi directly (not connected to iTunes). The devices say, "Checking for Update..." and does not connect. It says, "Unable to check for update...An error occurred while checking for a software update...Cancel or Try Again"

I solved this by downlading the iOS update via wi-fi at another location other than my home. I would still like to know why this download did not work at my home as it has for over a year. I have made no changes in my firewall or security settings.
