Ipad only syncs apps

My ipad mini syncs apps fine but wont sync music or films yet my iphone syncs everything.
My music and films shows on my ipad in itunes but all the tracks are grey !!
Can anyone help?

I authorized 2 laptops to my iPhone 5 but one can only sync music while the other can only sync apps!

I have an iPhone 5 and I have authorized 2 laptops to sync with it.
The problem is I can only sync apps I have downloaded from one laptop while music from the other laptop. I can't sync music and apps to my iPhone from the same laptop.
How do I solve this?
Note: The first laptop I synced with is also shared with my wife's iPhone 4.

you can only really sync your phone with one device, well strictly not true but its the better practice.
first point, be careful here.
second, plug your iPhone into the first machine and check the settings related to synchronising with 'that' machine.
then do the same with the second.
you will find that one is setup to sync apps and the other to sync music. I'd recommend that you go to the one that has your music stored on it, get it to download all of your apps and use this machine as your main machine from now on.
Using two seperate machines must be confusing and could lead to you suddenly loosing all of you data if you sync completely with one machine that does contain everything you want!

IPad &iPhone syncing apps & tunes

Wheni first got my iPhone & iPad I set them up to sync apps & music thru iTunes on my PC. The I set them up in the cloud for notes, photos, mail. But how do I change the apps & music sync from iTunes on the PC to the cloud?

My app on my iphone doesn't sync to my new ipad? App is word with friends. I have the app on both iphone and ipad but they aren't synced and aren't the same game.

New ipad, transfer/sync apps

I plan to buy an ipad. My wife has one that we sync to the imac. I sync using my MBP but do that less as I now backup to icloud.. How do I get the apps that I use and its data from her ipad to my new one? I can't sync her ipad to my MBP without getting some error message.

Your post is a little confusing to me. But the bottom line is that of you are sharing this iPad now and backing up with iCloud, simply restore the new iPad from the backup of the current iPad.
Back up the current iPad first, so that the backup is as current as it can be. Then activate the new iPad and when you get to a certain point in the process, you will have to opportunity to restore from an iCloud or an iTunes backup. Select the iCloud option.
This advice is based on the assumption that you are sharing the iPad and all of the apps and data on the device which also means that you are sharing an Apple ID.

HT1386 new ipad only syncs some songs

Some songs sync some dont. They all appear on iPad but only some songs will play. Help!!

When you synced the iPad did you make sure that the songs were selected ro sync.
With the iPad connected to your computer and with iTunes running, select your iPad under the devices heading on the left. Click on the Music Tab in iTunes on the right. Look to make sure that all of your albums, playlists, artist have been selected to sync. If not, select them and then click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes. Make sure that the Sync Music heading is checked as well.

IPad inital sync apps not transferring

I had to return an iPad, and now have a replacement. I have tried to synch the new iPad to iTunes, with partial success. My contacts and calendar have synced but when the iPad gets to a definative stage it will go no further. That stage achieved is syncing bookmarks part 2 of 5 or 3 of 6. I have all the necessary updates and have ticked the boxes within the setup to allow the music and books to sync across. Is anyone able to assist me and would be so grateful if you would be able to tell me in simple easy steps as I am a simple man when it comes to this technical stuff. Thanks. Chris

Stop the process and restart your computer.
Also Try a reset with the iPad. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons together for 10+ seconds, ignoring the red power-off slider, until you see the Apple logo. It is safe to do, there should be no content loss. It is the same as rebooting your computer.
Then try the sync again.

Ipod Touch only syncs apps while next, older touch syncs everything fine

Weird issue here. Don't know if it's an iTunes or Touch issue, but think topic is ok for here.
Both me and my wife have an ipod touch which we sync via the same pc (same iTunes), what worked out fine up to now. We have our own playlists we sync with the touch by selecting them in the music tab. These settings are equal for both, configured correctly, so iTunes knows it has to sync the music playlists selected. This works fine, as before, for my iPod. However for my wife's it does not anymore. The overview tab of the touch in iTunes nicely shows how much data is present in the selected playlists (little over 6 GB) and as said, the music tab is set such that it should sync selected playlists. The strange thing happens when actually syncing. It starts, syncs the apps and stops saying syncing is completed. No music, while everything is set correctly and recognized as such judged by the overview of data per type (i.e. apps, photo's, music etc.) in the overview. The one difference of today compared to the last time, when all was fine, is that I updated the software on my wife's touch. What can cause this? Any ideas?
Help appreciated; I can't see why it works fine on mine (older version touch), settings are equal, shows correctly in iTunes, but does not act like it when syncing.
Hope someone has an idea.

I have a theory that it's tied to Snow Leapord and/or iTunes, probably something Apple did to disable Palm Pre phones from being able to sync with iTunes. I've never seen that confirmed though, so it might nto be. All I know is I've been having this problem for a long time. I just tried iTunes 9.2.1 on my Mac hoping Apple had finally fixed it, but alas they didn't.
The solution I found? Get a PC and find an old version of iTunes. You give up some of the newer so-called features, and you've got to deal with a Windows box for your library, but at least the iPod will sync.

You need to restore the iPod on the new computer. You can only sync apps (and some other stuff) from different computers/libraries but you can manage music and some other stuff among different computers/libraries.

New user on iphone -- how do I sync apps from my itunes account?

My husband bought and used an iphone 3g, and bought five free apps. Then he gave the iphone to me. I have my own itunes account on my own computer, and have purchased free apps on my computer, but the apps don't sync to my iphone. (My music library from CDs and my address book do sync from my itunes account on my computer to my iphone). Any solution short of "restore"? I want to purchase apps on my itunes account on my computer and use them on my iphone.

The apps I purchase on my itunes account on my computer do not sync with (transfer to) my iphone. Here are some free apps I have purchased: NYTimes, weathebug, nearby, ypmobile, movies, free hangman. None of them sync.
When I sync by iphone with my itunes account on my computer, I get a dialog box telling me that there are apps on my phone that are not in my itunes account on my computer (my husband's five free apps). The box asks me to choose to "transfer", or "don't transfer", these apps. If I choose "don't transfer", I am warned that I will lose those apps. I have tried both methods "don't transfer" and "transfer" -- in both cases my new apps from my itunes account on my computer do not sync. In both cases my husband's apps on the iphone remain.
My itunes account on my computer indicates that I have successfully purchased and downloaded the apps.
I believe this problem is caused because an iphone can only sync apps from one itunes account. If true, than I need to know how to unconnect my iphone from my husband's itunes account.

With the exception of photo stream, iCloud doesn't sync your apps or photos between devices. You will continue to sync this content via iTunes in the same way as you do now.
Photo stream allows you to sync your most recent photos between all devices, you have the option to use photostream or not.

I was just looking at this again and noticed something strange.
Under the iCloud section of the Settings on my iPad, I don't have a "Documents and Data" option. Essentially, every time I use a program that wants to access iCloud for documents, that program's individual settings are reset to not use iCloud.
Any thoughts?
