Ipad portfolios

Hi there.
Im using PDF's to create a portfolio in i books with the ipad. ive set the image resolution ( while i was editing in photoshop) to 1024 x 768 at 72 ppi which was what i found suggested on various forums, howver the resolution when zoomed in isnt all that great. also, even though the image resoulutin and size is set to the same as the screen when i open the portfolio in i books i get two grey lines on each long side that i cant seem to get rid of and that are very distracting.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There's no chance they'll work on iOS since they require Flash viewer, which isn't available for iOS.

  • IPAD Portfolio

I am looking for an iPAD Portfolio that is sized to accommodate an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper.
The iPAD is exceptional for public speaking and conducting a seminar.
However, in the business world you invariably need to carry a standard sheet of paper.
    Do you know of one?
I have spent hours looking though this forum- reading the various posts on cases; to no avail.
If you have a suggestion it would be greatly appreciated.

I have a terrific leather portfolio for my iPad. It is a generic portfolio. Unfortunately I have no idea who made it or where it was bought; I got it for Christmas several years ago. I assume there are new ones similar to it at places like Staples and Office Depot. I don't like the folios that strap the iPad down; I like to have mine free so I can spread out, use it in my lap, etc.

  • How do I export from Lightroom 3 to an Ipad 2 for the purpose of showing pictures?

I want to use my Ipad 2 to show people pictures that I have taken.  I am not certain as to the best workflow for doing this.  I store all my pictures on external hard drives and am hoping to avoid bringing processed photos onto my computer hard drive.  I have done a search on the forum and have not seen a recommended work flow.  I would greatly appreciate some advice on this.

Have a look at this Russell Brown video tutorial that go into a fair amount of detail of how to go about exporting images for iPad

  • How can I make an iPad slide show from files on my iMac

I am a graphic designer who wants to use my iPad as a portfolio.
1.) Must I create the slide show on the internet?
2.) Is there a way to transfer the files to the iPad and use an iPad portfolio slide show.
The basic problem is getting the images from the iMac to the iPad. I can take it from there.
Can I use same technique with my iPhone?
I want to be able to pull out the iPad or iPhone and let prospective clients see what I do well.

you could try looking at this-
    http://ipod.about.com/od/ipad/qt/sync-photos-to-ipad.htm
    Basically
    >open itunes
    >go to ipad device screen
    >photos tab
    >you should get the option to sync folders containing pictures from your mac
    >select the folders you wish to sync
    >hit sync button

  • White on balance ipad air

Is there any app to color correct the white balance on the ipad air?
it seems too blueish...I only see the brighteness under the settings.

thanks for your repy, bu not really, I calibrate all my displays, but I'm suprised there seems to be no way to calibrate the ipad so my photos if used for a iPad portfolio would look right. Color calibration should be available to  ipads as well.

  • Wishlist - Aperture iPad app

Hoping someone from Apple is listening!
I would like to see an Aperture iPad app, that uses MobileMe (or Dropbox, etc) to allow users to sync a "metadata & preview" version of an Aperture library (or multiple libraries) to their iPad.
Users could then use the previews to rank, keyword, stack, sort, organise,... their images on the iPad, and sync back to the main library when they have a wifi connection or are back at their main Mac.
Aperture on the Mac would have a "export to iPad" function that would create properly sized previews for use on the iPad, and check out a current version of all the metadata in a library. MobileMe, Dropbox or other file sharing sites could then be used to sync this library to the iPad.
    Other options include:
    - export of slideshows directly from Aperture to showcase on the iPad
    - basic editing tools (straighten, crop, etc.) if iPad resources allow
    - "iPad portfolio" option in Aperture....create and export customizable portfolios (photos/videos, titles, etc.) for use on iPad
    Cheers,
    Martin

I have yet to find my (wet) dream app. I have written a post about it here: http://maximegousse.wordpress.com/2011/01/24/aperture-for-ipad-my-wish-list-for- a-mobile-ipad-version-of-aperture/
A few close hits, but "no cigar".

  • IPad app formatted for all resolutions

    Hi there.
I want to create an iPad portfolio (from InDesign 6) which will look good and can be downloaded on all iPad models (1-4) is it possible to just set up the resolution to the highest spec (iPad 4 - retina) or do I need to create one SD and one HD folio? I'd rather just work to the HD and it wouldn't look quite so sharp on older iPads...
I've been working to an InDesign document size of 1048 x 762 and making sure all images are are showing up about 250 ppi. If I'm importing a full bleed (screen size) image I'm making sure the jpeg is 296 x 1524px.
Also, I presume if I want to do a mini version of the portfolio for the iPhone I will have to do a resize - one for the older iPhone screen sizes and one for the iPhone 5 screen.
    Thanks in advance.
    Steve

You can use multi-rendition PDF articles to create a single 1024x768 folio that looks good on all iPad models.

  • Folder Image Counts in LR not updating

    LR Version Running: v4.1
Catalog Size: 27176 images spreadout over approximately 150 folders
Primary Problem: The image counts represented on folders in LR are not reflecting accurate counts until I run "Synchronize Folder" option.  This occurs on a fairly frequent basis and in a number of cases I can reproduce the problem.
History: This missing of images in a folder has been plaguing me since the initial release of LR. During that time I opened a case and Adobe Technical Support who took over my desktop and were also able to reproduce the problem. They had no fix but said that it was a software bug and would be corrected in a subsequent release. I am now on LR 4.1 and it still is present.
    Specific Examples:
    1) I will go to a folder looking for an image that I know at one time was visible in LR but now it no longer is there.  So, I search for it using LR on such attributes as filename or keywords without success. I then open up  Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder and there it is.  I can even right-click on the file name and open it up in Adobe Photoshop.  I don't like going that route because I lose any adjustments I may have applied in LR.  So my solution has been to right-click on the folder of the file that is missing the image(s) and select "synchronize folder". I am then presented with a dialog box that displays the number of missing (that LR calls"new") photos. Next, I click on the "Synchronize" button in which I am then presented with the import screen and shown the missing images.  I then click on "Import" button and when the updating process is finished the folder Count is now correct and image shows up in the folder.
    2) I can reproduce this behavior every time when I open an image in PS from LR, duplicate it, convert the duplicate to Black & White (Image-->Adjustments-->"Black & White"), apply an action to reduce the file size and change the color space, and then save it as a jpeg in a folder called "web" sitting under the original source folder. After saving it the count on the folder does not change, at least not until I go through the "Synchronize Folder" process.  Ironically, if I now go to the original color image that the B&W was duplicated from and convert and save it as a jpeg to the same folder the folder updates immediately.
    3) After importing a large number of images from a photo session into LR (via a card reader) I will delete the unwanted images, assign a subject specific naming convention to the remaining ones, attach keywords, and then use the export function to transfer them to their various subject related folders for long-term storage.  Since missing images has been a long-standing problem for me,  out of paranoia I will go to the folders to verify that the images are present For example, recently I exported 50 images to a folder and then went to it to verify all the images transferred correctly.  I was unable to find five of the images.  After running "Synchronize Folder" the folder amount was updated in the images appeared in the folder.  All of files in this case were Canon RAW (CR2).
The above are just a few of the examples that I am dealing with on a fairly consistent basis.  I also have a friend who also is experiencing the same problem but is using a different workflow.  I would very much appreciate it, if anybody who has encountered this probably before and found a solution, would be willing to share their fix to it.  Thank you in advance for considering my inquiry.

    web-weaver,
Thank you for your insightful reply. It got me thinking regarding my example #2 above and spurred me on to do some additional testing. What I did was create a directory called "web" under the source file one. I have about 2000 RAW images waiting for processing so I randomly grabbed one and did my normal CTRL-E to bring it into CS6. Below are the tests I made and their results:
    a) Image was not duplicated but my custom action to resize it for the web was applied and then saved in the "web" folder as a jpeg using "Save-As" option. I did this for a number of files and each time the folder count incremented correctly.
    b) Image was loaded into CS6 and then immediately duplicated. I then selected the orginal (not the copy) and the same procedure in "a" above was followed and the image count for the folder incremented and the folder count was verified as correct.
    c) Image was loaded into CS6 and then immediately duplicated. I then applied my custom action on the copy and followed the identical save steps as in the above examples. The counter FAILED to increment. I then looked in the folder and the image was not showing so I performed the "Synchronilze Folder" and that fixed the missing image and count problem. I repeated this example several times and all with identical results.
Conclusion on my "Specific Example 2": It appears that the "Save-As" is not the issue, The real problem is my forgetting that LR is a database that keeps track of images via an index. So when I duplicate the image in Photoshop it is not realistic to expect LR to even know the existence of the duplicate until it is saved in one of its established folders and the index on that folder is refreshed (I am assuming that is what "Synchronize Folder" function is performing). So as far as I would conclude this is normal database behavior.
Regarding my 3 example, thanks for your inputs on workflow. For the sake of brevity I did not relay the full detail of mine. As a very brief but still inadequate explanation, the RAW files that I bring into LR are kept in the holding folder for 3 reasons. The first is to review all and eliminate ones that I will not be retaining. Secondly, the remaining ones ("keepers") are then renamed and key words are assigned and then exported into their long term storage folders that get backed up each night. Finally, the ones still in the holding folder are now ready for processing the jpegs that will go into separate folders for my web site and iPad portfolio.  As I process each CR2 file it is then deleted from the working directory leaving only the ones I still need to process. I suspect there are better ways of doing this but so far it has worked very efficiently for me since LR came out. With regards to the problem of LR randomly losing track of some images across all of my image folders you might be right that the "Preference" file is getting corrupted. From my past discussions with Adobe Tech Support it seems that we did delete the existing one letting a new one get generated but I seem to recall that effort did not provide any remedy.
Thanks again for your reply and thoughts. They were much appreciated.

  • Bluetooth keyboard delete key

I have used three different Bluetooth keyboards with my ipad2 and on everyone of them the delete key performs like a traditional back space key, deleting anything to the left of the cursor, not to the right of the cursor.  Am I missing something here? Is there a way to make the delete key operate like the one on a traditional keyboard?

Skydiver, you are right in the movements of the two keys on traditional keyboards; and, when I looked, the Logitech bluetooth keyboard does NOT have a backspace key, only a Delete key that operates like a traditional backspace key (deletes from right to left).  However, the Kensington ipad portfolio with a built-in/detachable bluetooth keyboard DOES have both keys, but they both operate like a backspace key.  The Vivitar brand ipad portfolio with built-in bluetooth keyboard ALSO had both keys, but operated only like a backspace key.  I was just wondering if it had something to do with my ipad (which apparently it does since it's an Apple product based on further research), or if I was just missing something.  This was just an issue I ran into while typing on my ipad with the bluetooth keyboards and I found it a bit frustrating.  I am not a Mac user/owner so I was not aware that at first Apple computers did not even have a delete key, only a backspace key.
Thanks for the dialogue on this issue.  I consider it closed.

  • How can I open a PDF portfolio in an ipad mini ?

I am new in Apple things and the first one I get (ipad mini) is not able to open a PDF porfolio with 30 pages. All I get is a message suggesting me to download Adobe Reader which I did but still the same and all I can get after is open only the first page of the portfolio but no way to navigate through the document. Would someone help ?

When a portfolio PDF is opened in Adobe Reader for iOS, what you will get is a list of the documents that are included in the portfolio. A portfolio isn't a document with pages, it is a container for file attachments that has a Flash-based interface. Flash is not allowed on iOS as it is on a Windows or Mac OS, to the list of files is all you get.
If you don't see the list of documents, then it may be that you're not opening the portfolio PDF in Adobe Reader, but rather iOS's built-in PDF viewer. Look for the Open In icon and select Adobe Reader if that's the case.
If you're using the term "PDF portfolio" to refer to something else, post again and calrify exactly what you mean.

  • Web design company looking for iPad app to display my portfolio at a trade show

I run a small web development business and have my first trade show coming up. I'll have a booth setup and was hoping to have my iPad out on the table for people to pick up and scroll through my portoflio (ie web designs, logo concepts, etc.). I've seen this app:
    Portfolio for iPad
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/portfolio-for-ipad/id384210950?mt=8
which looks great but I was wondering if anyone else had other options. I like the idea that the above app allows you to lock the device so that users can only scroll through the portfolio and need a PIN to do anything else.
I don't have much experience with the iPad as I just got it and I don't do any app development. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Locking the iPad so that a user can't exit an app isn't possible for any developer to implement, since the developer kit doesn't provide that sort of access to the low-level routines in iOS. The only way to lock into a single app is to use a case/frame that covers the Home button (and turn off the gesture support in the settings in iOS 5).  A number of companies make kiosk mounts for this purpose.
    Regards.

  • Viewing Portfolio PDF on iPad: Content Viewer or other?

Adobe Content Viewer: Can it be used to view regular PDF's (created in InDesign, not using DPS)?
I am trying to find the best way (app) to show my portfolio on the iPad. Should I use another app instead? Any suggestions? Thank you!

You can create a .folio and preview it on your iPad by using a free DPS account. To create an application you have to create a paid account, or purchase a one-time licence. Take a look at this FAQ on side loading for more help: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3666113#3666113

  • PDF Portfolio on IPAD-text to be highlighted

how can I highlight text in a PDF document that is part of a PDF portfolio on an ipad. the tool is whited out?

    Hi,
Currently Adobe Reader on iOS does not allow annotations on documents that are part of a Portfolio, though this is something we would consider supporting in a future release.
One way out is to extract the PDFs within the Portfolio (using Adobe Acrobat, for example) and individually editing them in Adobe Reader on iOS.
    Thanks,

  • Make a PDF Portfolio with Chapters work on an iPad

Hi, I have created a PDF Portfolio document for iPad. I built the document in InDesign as a Digital Publication (iPad 768x1024,vertical only). The portfolio contains a number of chapters with each chapter containing a number of pages. I’ve built navigation hyperlinks into the PDF file in Acrobat DC. The PDF Portfolio file works perfectly on desktop computers and I am able to view all chapter and pages, but when I try to open it on an iPad I just get directed to ‘download Acrobat X or Adobe Reader X, or later’. I’ve tried opening it on 3 different iPads that are all running the latest version of Acrobat DC Reader and get the same message every time.
I tried making a second version of the file without the combining the chapters into a PDF Portfolio in Acrobat DC, just running all of the pages together in a single file, with hyperlinks on the contents page and it works perfectly on the iPad. So how can I get it to work on an iPad as a Portfolio with Chapters, can you give me any advice?

    Hi,
I presume that "chapters" are individual PDF documents that are contained in your PDF Portfolio.
Adobe Reader/Acrobat DC mobile apps (for iOS and Android) support the hyperlink to jump to a page view within the same PDF document or open a web page (http://... or https://...).  Unfortunately, the Adobe Reader/Acrobat DC mobile apps do not support the hyperlink to open a different PDF document (regardless of whether it is included in a Portfolio or not).
Please note that most mobile PDF viewers for iOS and Android do not support Portfolios.
To make your PDF document compatible with any PDF viewers on desktop computers and mobile devices, I'd recommend the second version - "all of the pages together in a single file with hyperlinks".
    Sorry for the inconvenience.
