Ipad previewing - content viewer app

I have a folio which I am able to preview on my PC Content Viewer software, but will not seem to update on my iPad Content Viewer app.
I am running Folio Producer 12.2.4 on CS5.5.
I have updated the app to the most up to date version from the App Store. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app from scratch. It still won't load on my iPad!
Are there any common reasons for this that I can investigate? I have a pitch to deliver using the app at the end of the week - which if successful could mean investing in the DP Suite to a greater extent than we are now - but not if I can't preview the fruits of my testing!
All advice appreciated!

I must say that's not my experience. I wish every piece of software I use had  forums like this where within half an hour of posting a problem I had a solution. I couldn't care less if the solution is pretty or not, so long as it works.
Software companies can't win. They release something new this way, with an accompanying support forum, and they're accused of beta testing by proxy. They release something new, say it's finished and let us get on with it, and they're accused of not testing the product enough first.
I haven't paid a penny so far -  all the folio testing I've done has been done for free. The plan is to pitch the concept to my company on the basis of what I've developed so far and if they go for it, then start paying. I won't put the money into something like this without being sure that some form of support exists. So far so good as far as I'm concerned!
And thanks again, Bob.

  • Content Viewer app for iPad not logging in?

I've checked all the boxes in troubleshooting this, they don't apply. Log in first via website, check, on both Windows Chrome and iPad Safari, still get Authentication Failed error with identical logon info from the Content Viewer app.
Online chat help could only suggest that an Adobe server was having issues. The DPS portal currently reports no issues with the web Content Viewer, not sure that is the same thing as the iPad app. Maybe DPS folks just don't know about this one yet, and they've left the building for a week on holiday.
Anyone here have any ideas? I'm not a DPS subscriber, and the app does not seem to require that, only an Adobe ID, which I created years ago and which is still working through the web. I need the content viewer for iPad to review work by people who are subscribers to DPS.
Thanks for any help or perspective you can provide.

  • Content viewer app ipad space usage

I am using the Adobe Content Viewer app on the iPad for DPS. The four apps/folios I have downloaded in the viewer are 7mb, 195mb, 634mb and 486mb (1.2GB). But when I go to my iPad Settings/Usage it says the content viewer app is using 6.5GB in total. Does anybody know why or how to clear the content viewer cache etc?

Log into digitalpublishing.acrobat.com with that ID and then try again.

  • Need Adobe Content Viewer app update

    Hi,
I am trying to view my publication on the Adobe Content Viewer on my iPad through
    1) syncing though creative cloud
I then get this message. However when I go to the App Store, it says all my apps are to date.
I deleted the Adobe Content Viewer app from my iPad and reinstalled it. I still get the same message.
    2) previewing through Folio Builder
Can someone tell me how I can update my Adobe Content Viewer when the App store says there are no updates available???
There is nothing wrong with my App store app. I have already updated other apps in the mean time with no problem.
    Thanks!

You'll have to wait for Apple to approve the new viewer.
In the mean time you should create folios as version 24.

  • Navigation buttons not working in iPad Adobe Content Viewer

I am reposting this as a separate discussion from this thread (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5551618#5551618), since Bob B. said this is a separate bug from the nav button problems in Single Edition apps that people were encountering.
    Here is my problem:
I have several folios that are a presentation of work (a slideshow per page, on most pages). Navigation buttons are needed since vertical swiping doesn't work on the pages where my images are full-width.
Five times in the past week, the buttons have quit working (tapping a button jumps you back to the first page of the folio, instead of to Next or Prev). The only way to get them working again is to delete Content Viewer and all the content off the iPad, reinstall Content Viewer, and download the folios again. So far, I can use the folio maybe once or twice, and then the problem happens again.
As you can imagine, this is very frustrating.
It would be great if someone can look into this, since it does not seem to be a freak occurrence - it happens to me all the time since I got the latest version of Content Viewer.
    Thank you,
    Camille

A tester was finally able to reproduce this bug. I'll let you know when I find more information. Thanks for reporting it.

  • Is there a way to organize shared folios in the content viewer app?

I have quite the collection of folios that have been shared with me. My list has grown quite a bit and it's getting harder to find certain folios in the Content Viewer App on my iPad. The ordering seems to be somewhat random. Is there any way to organize the list of folios? Bonus Question: Any way to create folders and place certain folios inside of folders?
    Thanks!

    Use library filters.

  • Adobe Content Viewer app and .folio file

I created and published a .folio file on my Web server.
My boss downloaded the free Adobe Content Viewer app from iTunes for his iPad. When he tries to open the .folio file from his home screen it goes online to a browser and just shows a grey screen with an icon for the .folio file, its file size and nothing happens.
Am I missing something? The same .folio file works fine on my desktop version of Adobe Content Viewer. How do I get it to work in his app?
    Thanks.

Found some other threads. Is this right?
    1. Create my .folio file.
    2. Host on my free Acrobat.com account.
    3. Get viewer to get their own free Acrobat.com account and share doc URL with them.
    4. They download file and view in the free Adobe Content viewer app for iPad.
Would check, but I don't have access to an iPad with live internet connection (yet).
    Thanks.

  • Error downloading folio to iPad via Content Viewer

    Hello,
I'm having issues getting the folio to download to the Adobe Content Viewer for iPad app . . . every time I get this message "Error downloading folio. Please try again later."
    I've built a single-app folio:
    1024x768
    Viewer version: 20
    Orientation: Horizontal
    PDF format
Adobe InDesign CS6 with the latest folio tools and builder
The folio consists of a single article with one page that contains two video files (two thumbnails that play full screen when activated)
    OSX 10.8.2
I have both an iPad 2 and iPad 3rd generation that I have Adobe Content viewer on (latest version, iOS 6)
I've tried deleting the Content Viewer app and re-downloading a fresh version, I've tried completely rebuilding the folio from scratch, I've also created a new Adobe user name with a fresh account to try the folio with . . . and every time it uploads fine with no errors . . . . but refuses to download to the iPad.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or what I should try??

Doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong at all. It could be due to some performance problems on our servers that are creating problems downloading large files. Here are a few things that you could try:
If the folio is not already published, try publishing it as private. Downloads of published folios are often quicker.
Try creating two articles each having one video. Downloading two smaller files is typically better than downloading one large file.
If that still doesn't work, you can share the folio with [email protected] and I'll be glad to take a look.

  • Adobe Content Viewer app

Hi  Guys I created my interactive document on Indesign 5.5 yesterday. I can  view it on my desktop 'Adobe Content Viewer'. Is there a way I can view  my document on the iPad without buying the expensive Adobe Digital  Publishing suite? I don't want to publish the document, I just want to text it on the iPad? When I log into adobe acrobat I can't organise the files, I can only view the workspace!? Also the 'Adobe Content Viewer app' keeps telling me it needs to be updated?? Can anybody help?

    Bob,
I have been closely monitoring many threads here at DPS (and DPS Private Beta Forums) in the last few weeks, and yes I am new to this particular product group having only been in it since March.  But I wonder if there is some way that Adobe can be made aware of how serious this issue is with Builder and Viewer and tools "not lining up" with Apple.
To keep putting this problem on Apple is somewhat of a shopworn technique (and I say this with all due respect.). Still, Apple commands fully 80+ % of the tablet market.  They are the big dog.
Suggestions for the future:  Perhaps there will be a way to choose a tools/viewers workflow at startup -- or to put a bigger "red flag" before installing any update that is not yet supported by Apple.  Approaching this from the engineering side, you may have forgotten just how many disclaimer screens the average designer/production person faces every week!  Many of us don't read them carefully. (Richard Dreyfuss reads them).
I have nothing but admiration for what Adobe software engineers are trying to do -- and these are nascent times to be sure.  But it certainly seems like this launch is going poorly.

  • Folio producer tools update required to use folio builder but content viewer app not available

    Hi,
I have a problem with DPS Folio Producer tools.
We are unable to use Folio Builder to update our iPad presentation to the cloud because we keep getting this message: An update is required to use Folio Builder. Please click here to download Folio Producer Tools.
We have previously done this only to discover that the new version of Folio Producer Tools is incompatible with the Content Viewer and the new Content Viewer app is not yet approved, or available from Apple.
So we have done a rollback to a previous version of the Folio Producer Tools which worked for a few hours, but is now prompting for the update again - but as explained above we cannot download the update until the Content Viewer app is available.
    HELPPPPPPP!!!

    This is the DPS model.
When a company thinks first about monetizing solutions instead of making it an extra option.
You are not free anymore to use the tools you want, you must follow Adobe's decisions to update online apps.
Online apps are everything but good.
You will have to wait until the Viewer gets approved by Apple.
Dear Adobe: do you see how many people come here because they don't understand how your technical model works?

  • Share message to point user to the Adobe Content Viewer app

When a user shares a folio, can there be a choice to send a message with instructions to share via the Adobe Content Viewer app?
Currently, when I share a folio, the other person receives an email which points them to digitialpublishing.acrobat.com and tells them how "once accepted, the folio can be accessed in your Folio Builder panel in InDesign." Now I can see that in many environments that is a perfectly reasonable workflow, but I have found it really confuses clients when you're sharing folios with people merely need to view the folios via the Adobe Content Viewer app. I fielded a few "it's not giving me permission", "What is it I am supposed to do, John?", "InDesign, I don't have InDesign" before figuring out the problem.
Now I know what's going on, I'm sending them emails saying they don't need to worry about the standard message and digitialpublishing.acrobat.com, but just install the app, login with your Adobe ID, and the app will make the folio available to them. Why can't this route be an option for the sharing instructions?

Sorry, no idea. We're all just fellow users here and have no insight into the processes within the iTunes Store, and you'll never get a response from Apple in these forums.
Speaking strictly for me (I'm the only one I can speak for), I'm not sure how Bob Levine would know that Apple is sitting on an update unless he works for Adobe (as he may, though I would think his profile there would say so). But his statement that the version of Adobe Content Viewer is the "original version" is incorrect, if that's what he really meant to say. The version in the iTunes Store is by no means the original, it's up to 1.7.0, and was last updated on May 16th of this year. There may indeed be a new version awaiting approval, though; I have no way of knowing. If there is, though, it would not seem that Apple has been sitting on it for all that long.
    Regards.

I really need this app to view my content and to meet my deadlines! Adobe have told me it's Apple that is holding the approval up?

  • How can I view content that I've archived on the iPad Adobe Content Viewer?

Sorry, I'm new to the DPS process. I tapped "Archive" in the Adobe Content Viewer thinking that I would be able to retrieve it from the archive. I haven't been able to find that capability yet! I've tried renaming the document in InDesign and updating, thinking the project would appear in the content viewer. Again, no dice. I even deleted the content viewer from the iPad and reinstalled. Logged out, logged in. No dice. I cannot seem to have any luck seeing my project again. It was displaying just fine earlier today. Damn curiosity! Why did I tap on the archive button? Any help would be much appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Dave

I guess what I was asking is when you tap Archive in the Adobe Content Viewer on the iPad there is a pop-up that says "Are you sure you want to Archive?" and "This item will be removed from your device. You may download it again at anytime for free." But there is no option to do this within the iPad app! At least none that I can see.
I ended up creating a new folio with the same articles. It works now, but the archive function is not intuitive! It should work the same as when you archive magazines in the Newstand app. I mean, that's how people expect it to work. I guess in Adobe speak archive = delete!
Anyway, if you archive something it removes it from the app and you will not see a download button.
    Thanks!
    Dave
