IPad quits playing music at random -- Music app

I've tried desperately to find an solution to this and nothing works. In a nutshell, the "Music" app on my iPad 2 is totally unreliable.
I have about 150 songs on my iPad and when I attempt to listen to them (the same way I have listened to music on my iPod for 8+ years now) it will play anything from 1 to 7 songs and then won't play any more. It will also sometimes show the wrong album artwork and song titles for the currently playing song.
I've restored this iPad twice and it's the same problem. When I want to listen to music, it will play on average 4 songs (the most it has played is 7) and then not play any more and I have to quit the Music app and relaunch. And FWIW, all of the music on my iPad is 100% mine - it's not pirated from the internet.
This same Music app works flawlessly on my iPod iOS 3.1.3. Can someone tell me how to fix this problem or recommend a REAL music app for the iPad.

The response from mjhct that discusses UNSYNCING and RESYNCING fixed this problem.

  • Ipad quite playing itunes movie

Has anyone rented a movie via itunes and had it quite playing after about an hour of watching the movie?

This has happened to me as well. I can't open up any sort of videos on my iPad.

  • Music issue I just started using iPad, am playing some of my music. How in the world do I turn it off!

    I. Can't stop my music.

Double-click the home button to open the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, slide that to the right and press the pause button - your music should stop playing.

  • IPad quits in the middle of many apps

My I pad seems to quit in the middle of a variety of apps making the unusable.
The most recent was the John Stewart show and the Colbert report. Also a PDF form filler
quits among others.does anyone else have this problem? I have reset it a number of times as suggested.

    Hello and welcome.
Try restarting your iPad when this happens, not the same as resetting. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
If apps continue to quit unexpectedtly, connect your iPad to your computer. Launch iTunes. Make sure iTunes recognizes the iPad under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window. Then click: *Check for Update.*
quit in the middle of a variety of apps making the unusable.
If the iPad software is up to date, click Restore then click *Don't Back Up*. The reason being is there might be one or more apps causing the problems.
Once you have restored the iPad, sync several apps at a time from the Apps menu in iTunes then try those apps on the iPad. If it's ok, then try 3 more apps and so on.
And while you have the iPad connected to your computer, look at the bottom of the the iTunes window under any of the tabs and check to make sure there is enough free storage space.

  • My iPad quit playing movies.

My ipad has been working great. Now for the last several days, if I select the Videos button, nothing happens. . . meaning that I can't play movies. I'm running iOS 4.3.3 and have over 40GB of free space. Turning it off then on had no effect. Viewing the contents on my laptop (through iTunes) indicates that the movies are still on the ipad. Is there any way to correct this other than a restore? Thanks!

Have you tried closing the Videos app completely ? From the home screen double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Video app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • My iPad quit playing YouTube videos and iheart radio

My iPad no longer plays YouTube videos and I Heart radio.  This started after a recent update to the iOS.  Any ideas on how to fix?

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

You should also ask this in the iPad forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • IPAD/IPOD playing music to a Airport Express - No Sound?

I have an IPAD and an IPOD.  IPAD is 4th gen, IOS7.  IPOD is 4th gen, IOS6.
Airport express is the new one second generation.  Airport Express is wired to my home network, and its in bridged mode with wireless off.  Its purpose is only to play music via airplay.
When I turn on airplay on my IPAD or IPOD I can always see my Airport Express.  It always allows me to select it as my output speaker.  However, only sometimes does music actually play through my Airport Express / Stereo setup.  The IPAD or IPOD always shows the music playing in its music playing app.  It appears as if its working.  I just cant always hear it.
If Im trying to play music but no sound is coming out of my stereo, I can power off my IPAD or IPOD, then try playing music again and it will work.  This is a work-around to my problem that really bugs me.  I want to properly diagnose this problem so that I do not have to power cycle my iDevice before using airplay.
Ive read many posts about Airport Express sound problems.  Most problems seem to be either short audio drop-outs, or not detecting the Airport Express.  I think my problem is different.
I have read some people had success downgrading their Airport Express firmware to 7.6.1 to fix the short audio drop-outs.  I have not tried this as my problem is not worth audio drop-outs.  Its with no sound at all playing.
I am begginging to think the Airport Express isnt as rock-solid for airplay as I thought.
    QUESTIONS:
Are there any tools available for troubleshooting this type of problem?  The knowledge base articles Ive read from Apple have been no help.

Figured it out.   Must sign out from Itunes and then back in and it works.

You cannot use iCloud.com on a mobile device, only on a computer. Documents in iCloud are available via the apps themselves on a mobile device.

  • IPod Touch randomly opening apps or music

My iPod Touch has started having a mind of it's own.  Last night, my iPod started opening the Voice Control app and playing music at random.  Weirdly, it only happens when my Earphones with Remote and Mic are connected.  What should I do?

  • Why does my computer play strange music at random times and how can I stop it?

why does my computer play strange music at random times and how can I stop it?  The music isn't anything on my machine and the only way I can switch it off is to reboot.  Can anyone advise me please.  It's driving me nuts ... I don't even like the music it's playing!

What apps are open and are you really still only on 10.5.1??????? At the very least please update your profile, also please remember to post more information. I suspect it's something going on with just your user account. You can verify that by creating another user account (call it TEST ACCOUNT) and log into that account and test. Once this has been verified then you will need to check which apps are running to determine what is causing your issue.

  • My ipad will play music but no sound for games?

My ipad will play music but no sound comes out for games?

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.
