IPad reboots without warning

Since updating ios 7.1.2, my iPad reboots towards the last 30 seconds or so of downloading a tv show or if I try to download more than 1 show at a time.  Has anyone else experience this and any suggestions on resolving.  It's frustrating!

TRy to clear your cache by closing all open apps. Double tapping the home button and swiping up all the apps that you see will totally close them. Then turn off your device for 1 minute then on again. If this doesnt work, you can also reset  the setting (  setting, general, reset, reset all setting)  this will only reset the setting without affecting your data. It is always a best practice to have back up before you proceed

  • HELP, my macbookpro reboots without warning

    Sometimes, while i use the trackpad, either dragging one file or selecting multiple rows, the macbook pro reboots.
    The only thing in common to all reboots is that the system freezes for 4-5 seconds and then reboots without warning. console doesn't report anything. it has always happened while using the trackpad, but i seldom use the mouse, so i can't say if this would happen with the mouse too. Also, it happens when i use the trackpad one-handed, holding the button with my thumb and dragging with another finger.
    When the system reboots it takes longer than usual.
    Any idea? how can I find out what is wrong without reformatting the whole thing??
    Thanks
    Andrea

    Take a look at this thread:
    Is my P.S. the problem?
    I had a similar problem.  I'll bet you are experiencing a stop error called MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION.  I causes a very fast reboot once the blue screen appears.  I posted a link in that thread to the explanation on the Microsoft website.
    There's a couple of potential causes, including an insufficient power supply, incompatible RAM, processor too far out of spec (OCd) or high temperatures.  I'm pretty sure my problem is due to the PS...  hope this helps you narrow down your troubleshooting some.
    Its my understanding that only a couple of passes of Memtest will be sufficient in this case to verify RAM compatibility, because any more than that and the power supply will become stressed (remember increasing heat in the PS decreases its efficiency), possibly confounding your little experiment...

    Recently been incurring an issue whereby even though Ipad Mini has plenty of charge without warning or reason it just shuts down. I can turn it back on a minute later, but it continues this cycle of randomly turning off at a time of its choosing. Help.

  • Q10 random reboot without warning

      Hello,  A new problem has surfaced with my Q10. The device will restart on its own without any warning. It will restart twice a day on avg.I am running release 10.2.1.2976 and I believe the battery is in pretty good shape since it still holds a charge for the same length of time, as always. Any thoughts? Thanks, Rick

    Has anything changed on your device? A new app? A configuration change? Something else? Was the device recently dropped or anything? Anything that happened just before this behavior presented could be causal, so think carefully.
    Is there any consistency to how this happens? For example, I noticed with my Q10 that if I set it down on a table in just a same manner (actually gently, but dropping perhaps a centimeter or so), then the device would reboot. I figure there is something loose inside of mine, but haven't done any further diagnostics since it's not my "daily driver".
    If you can find something consistent, then you might be able to figure a treatment. For example, if perhaps the battery is just a tiny bit loose inside, and jarring the device causes a reboot, then using something to better secure the battery might be helpful. For instance, a business card, cut to the size of the battery, and wedged between the battery and the device back cover, might help that situation.
    Of course, if it's something deeper inside the device, then only a trained hardware technician should open it up to try and figure it out.
    Good luck and let us know!

  • VM's Reboot without Warning

    I am using OVM for development test environments using a Dell 2950 with 32GB of memory. I'm good on memory usage and disk space.
    About a month ago I created a new VM with OEL5.4 named "alta" with 2GB memory. I also updated Domain 0 to Oracle VM server release 2.2.0.
    The problem I'm seeing is that alta will reboot spontaeously. It usually occurs when downloading something from the internet or copying files across from a mounted directory on another server.
    I've checked /var/log/messages and there is no message in either the OVM Server or alta indicating the problem that caused the reboot. I've tested it by tail -f on the syslog and nothing shows up when the reboot occurs.
    I've never had any other VM's spontaneously reboot so this is a real puzzler. Any suggestions on how to capture what is going on?
    Here's the vm.cfg for alta.
    acpi = 1
    apic = 1
    builder = 'hvm'
    device_model = '/usr/lib/xen/bin/qemu-dm'
    disk = ['file:/var/ovs/mount/0DEAA78E20204555982F4A6B7E78BDB4/running_pool/362_alta/System.img,hda,w',
    'file:/var/ovs/mount/0DEAA78E20204555982F4A6B7E78BDB4/running_pool/362_alta/u01.img,hdb,w',
    'file:/var/ovs/mount/0DEAA78E20204555982F4A6B7E78BDB4/sharedDisk/SVD01.img,hdd,w!',
    ',hdc:cdrom,r',
    disk_other_config = []
    kernel = '/usr/lib/xen/boot/hvmloader'
    keymap = 'en-us'
    maxmem = 4096
    memory = 2048
    name = '362_alta'
    on_crash = 'restart'
    on_reboot = 'restart'
    pae = 1
    serial = 'pty'
    timer_mode = '2'

    Instead of installing the kernel debuginfo rpm and using crash, you can simply run strings on the core dump and look for the kernel log messages. Or you can configure a serial console in your guest, and use the xm console command to watch the guest kernel console messages. You can even record them to a file with the script command on dom0.

  • Reboots without warning

    Hello, has anyone had the problem of  their flip just turning off and rebooting out of the blue? Mine has been doing this, and it is frustrating to say the least. Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated. It's about 8 months old, never been dropped to a hard landing.
    Scott

    Hi Scott and Welcome to the forums.
    Have you upgraded the firmware to the latest version within the past 8 months?
    Its quite possible you are running an old version and it needs to be updated.
    Make sure you  have the latest Software for your device and carrier installed onto the computer.
    click here to get ur carrier software - http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    This is the device Software, not the desktop manager.
    Download and double click to install to your ur computer. Don't plug the device in yet.
    Once done that, go to C Drive: Program Files: Common Files: Research in Motion: App Loader and double click on loader.exe.
    Once the welcome screen comes up, plug in the device the battery and hit next. When you see the PIN number appear after maybe a few minutes press next.
    Once it gets to the device application part, Select only things you need, untick all other languages etc.
    On the last page before you hit finish, you will see a 'ANDVANCED' option, click this and make sure both the check boxes are fixed.
    This should fix ur issue.
    If your issue is resolved, put a checkmark in the green box that contains the resolution.

    If it was just/or also really helpful - Give it a Kudos.. Go on Mate.. Help the rest of the clueless blackberry user world find their answer too..

  • Updating from iTunes 11.0.1.12 to 11.0.2.25 - Reboot without warning

    Hi, I need to deploy iTunes & QuickTime to around 1000 computers. These computers run Windows 7 x64 Ent. So I created my package to deploy the different MSI by command line.
    AppleApplicationSupport.msi
    AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi
    AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi
    Bonjour64.msi
    QuickTime.msi
    iTunes64.msi
    Everything is working perfectly if not for the rebooting problem when the iTunes64.msi is installing. I use these properties when installing iTunes64.msi.
    REBOOT=ReallySuppress
    STANDALONE=1
    QUICKTIME_IS_INSTALLED=1
    AMDS_IS_INSTALLED=1
    APPLEAPPLICATIONSUPPORT_IS_INSTALLED=1
    BONJOUR_IS_INSTALLED=1
    MEDIA_DEFAULTS=0
    REGSRCH_DESKTOP_SHORTCUT=0
    IS_ASU=1
    DESKTOP_SHORTCUTS=0
    DISABLEADVTSHORTCUTS=0
    And the command line is "msiexec.exe /i iTunes64.msi /qn". So I need to know how to force iTunes to NOT reboot during the installation process from the command line. Anyone?
    Thanks in advance for the help!
    GBoucher

    I solved the problem myself finally. After checking with Orca inside the iTunes64.msi I found that a CustomAction was the problem. The CustomAction in question is Set_REBOOT and it's reference in the InstallExecuteSequence table. So I just created a new mst file and now my msiexec.exe /i ... work perfectly.
    Have a good day!

  • My iPad will close all windows/apps suddenly without warning!  Any ideas?

    My iPad will "shut off" without warning...very annoying!  Any idea why?  Thanks!

    Try closing all apps completely and then do a reset and see if that helps. To close all apps : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    To reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
    Turning off iCloud and multitasking gestures on the iPad has also been suggested by some people.

  • Time Machine BUG: Without warning, one or more of your disks stops being backed up...

    Hi all
    Just discovered an interesting and potentially dangerous bug in TM running 10.7.4 (like many others I've downgraded from 10.7.5 because of the Spotlight/TM problems noted in this forum).
    Here's the bug: You set up TM and specify certain items -- files, folders or volumes -- to be excluded in the "Options" pane of TM Preferences. If you exclude a volume (e.g. a cloned backup volume), that volume must of course be mounted in order for it to be added to the "Exclude" list. But if you subsequently umount the excluded volume, TM SIMPLY REPLACES IT WITH SOME OTHER MOUNTED VOLUME without warning. The result: unknown to you, one of your disks, that you think is being backed up, isn't. You can actually see this happen if you unmount the disk you want to exclude while your exclusions list is open.
    This bug is 100% reliable. Tried permissions repair, clear caches, verify backups, reset TM by deleting /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist and re-entering excluded items -- same result.
    Question: Have others found this bug? Has anyone found a way of adding a volume to the TM exclusions list so that it "sticks" regardless of whether or not the volume is mounted??
    The only workaround I can see: Never unmount any disks in your exclusions list -- if you do, something else will be excluded instead. If like me you want easy access to the disks you work with but not others (e.g. backup clones), one option is to make the excluded disk mounted-but-not-visible.
    Appreciate others comments before reporting to Apple in case there's something weird in my setup (don't think there is).
    Pondini: Checked your great site, couldn't see this noted - apologies if I missed it.
    Ta much.

    For Windows 7 I corrected the problem using the steps below.  Since Windows 8 is setup for touch screen you will need to find these controls.
    Corrective Action.  Note that several of these steps require the computer to process the action and may take 20 minutes to complete, depending on the configuration.
    DELETE INTERNET EXPLORER PERSONAL RECORDS
    (This step may not be necessary)
    Start Windows Operating System (OS) in Safe Mode (Restart windows using F8)
    Select “Start” button
    Select “Control Panel”
    Select “Internet Options”
    Select “Advanced” tab
    Select “Reset” tab for “Reset Internet Explorer settings”
    Select “Delete Personal Records”
    Select “Reset”
    DISABLE INTERNET EXPLORER
    If not in WINDOWS SAFE MODE start Windows OS in Safe Mode (Restart windows using F8) Select “Start” button
    Select “Control Panel”
    Select “Programs and Features”
    Select “Turn Windows Features On or Off” (Left pane)
    Uncheck IE# checkbox (# will be the IE version number)
    Select “OK”
    Reboot the computer
    RE-ENABLE INTERNET EXPLORER
    Windows OS will restart in normal mode, or select normal operation
    Select “Start” button
    Select “Control Panel”
    Select “Programs and Features”
    Select “Turn Windows Features On or Off” (Left pane)
    Check “IE# checkbox” (# will be the IE version number)
    Select “OK”
    Reboot the computer
    RESTORE YOUR DESKTOP
    Select “Start” button
    Select “Control Panel”
    Select “System & Security”
    Select “System”
    Select “System Protection”
    Select “System Restore”
    Select “Chose a different restore point”
    Select a restore point at least 2 weeks ago (Check “Show more restore points” checkbox, if necessary)

  • I activated my iPad 2 without a computer. How can I sync now?

    I activated my iPad 2 without a computer. When connected to a PC, iTunes is not even allowing back up purchased apps. It gives a warning that it cannot read the contents of the iPad. I authorized the PC via my iTunes store account. Also I prevented the iTunes from automatic updating just in case. Nothing changed; it is not even charging. Isn't there any solution other than restoring?

    Sync to new computer
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11527071#11527071
    1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
    If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
    That should do it.

  • HT4061 Hi, I did an IOS update last week and when the ipad rebooted it is asking me for a passcode ... i have never entered a passcode originally so dont know what passcode to input to open my ipad... it just locks me out... help what do i do ??

    I need help :-(
    Did an IOS update last week and after the Ipad rebooted it said slide to unlock then asked for a passcode to be entered..... I have never set a passcode ever ??
    What number do I enter to unlock the Ipad ... have tried the usual 0000 and 9999 etc but just locks me out .... HELP  !!!
    Or is there a way to go back to factory settings ?? (Without losing my Apple ID etc)
    Thanks

    If this was your first update to iOS 7 then you were asked to CREATE a passcode. Also there would have been a small Skip button to avoid creating the passcode. If, when you encountered that request you went ahead and entered a passcode number then you must use that number to unlock your device. Once the device is unlocked you can change or delete the passcode using the Settings app.
    To completely remove the passcode lock you need to connect your iPad to the computer you normally sync with and restore the iPad. This will erase all data on the iPad so be sure your info, photos, etc. are backed up first.

  • MBP switches off without warning at 15% battery

    After recently upgrading to 10.6.5, I was working on my MBP and when it hit 15% of battery, without warning the laptop completely shut itself off. To reboot, I had to plug it in to power up. This has happened both times I've run low, and I have yet to get a battery low warning message, or an orderly shutdown. My MBP simply shuts off. Never had a problem like this before. Any solutions? Similar experiences?

    (n_n) is correct. Modern batteries are "smart devices". They have a computer chip that informs the operating system how much power is left and the OS uses that information to approximate how much time is left before the battery is drained. Based on this information the OS can tell you how much time you have left, when you are running on reserve power and when you are close to depleting the battery. As you use the computer, running on battery and recharging it, the onboard processor and the OS get out of sync and that's what you experienced.
    Apple recommends that you calibrate your battery to prevent this. I've set up a repeating calendar event to remind me every other month. My wife, whose computer use is different from mine, has her reminder set for every month.
