IPad remote app and apple tv (gen1)
I have the remote app on my iPhone 4 and iPad. Everything is up to date. The iPhone works fine controlling the apple tv, but I cant get the iPad to connect.
I start the remote app on the iPad get the 4 digit number. I enter it on the apple tv, but it won't let me select the done button.
Any ideas?

The Album art is a known issue. Your other problem sounds like your network.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.
The reason it would work again for a while is that switching AirPlay off and on re-establishes a network connection. Whether that's what is happening isn't certain, but it could explain:
...... but that wouldn't explain why each time, it starts playing again correctly when I unclick and click the ATV in the Multiple mode dropdown.

Ipod remote app and apple tv sync vs. stream problem
Have been using ATV 1st gen streaming from a shared itunes library for some time.
Now I want to use the ipod remote app and can make it work only if I sync content to the ATV. If I stream content to the ATV, the remote app says there is no content.
However, I can see (on my tv) and play the sync'd content using the white plastic remote.
*Does this mean the remote app works only with synced (not streamed) content on ATV 1st gen?*

Remote App and Apple TV Won't Wake iTunes
I absolutely love the Remote app for the iPhone. I use it quite a bit to stream music to my home stereo. I am having difficulty with the "wake on network access" function, however.
Everything works like a charm when my MacBook Pro is awake. The Apple TV (2nd gen) and my iPhone (3GS) connect to the library without any trouble. The feature I was really excited about, however, was the wake on network access option. As I understand it, this feature would enable my iPhone or Apple TV to wake up my sleeping laptop so that I won't have to walk downstairs and make sure my laptop is awake before trying to access the library.
I just can't get this to work. I have the wake for network access option selected in the Network settings. I have verified that my Mac supports wireless wake for network access. I have Home Share turned on for the iTunes account and have signed the Apple TV and iPhone into the account. Despite this, neither the Apple TV, nor the iPhone Remote will wake the laptop. The iTunes Library shows up as an option on the iPhone, but just keeps "connecting" when you select it. The Apple TV won't even list the library under "Computers" unless the laptop is awake.
Has anyone else been having this issue? Any ideas on things to try to get it to work?

Sorry, no other ideas at this time. Perhaps someone else here will have a suggestion, though this not being an iTunes issue, per se, you might have more luck in the Apple TV, Time Capsule or MBP forums.

Is it possible to put the apple tv to sleep with the remote app? With the small apple remote
you press and hold the play/pause button. But I can't seem to find out if remote app will do it.
And also, how do you get to the main menu in apple tv with the remote app. Like youtube, etc.It seems you have the option to connect the way Scott H described (ie accessing your media library in iTunes) -OR- you can have the iPhone directly access the AppleTV's library. I've done it both ways on mine. The first way means you're streaming wirelessly from your computer, while the second means you're pulling things directly off the AppleTV's hard drive. You can switch back and forth between these methods by going into the Remote program's settings into the "Choose a Library section..." as long as you've set up both your computer and ATV to see the Remote.
Regardless, neither of these methods will accomplish what you want. You can play movies and podcasts on your ATV with the remote, but you can't rent movies, go to YouTube, etc. Hopefully v1.1 will add these things. -

The itunes account n my iPhone and computer are different, can I still use the remote app on my phone for my Apple TV?
I think I found the reason. On my iMac that is hosting the music library a song already was playing. This seems to block out me from selecting another song though my Apple TV.

A frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is the service being blocked on the network. Make sure your network isn't hidden, has a unique name, that MAC address authentication is disabled, security is set to use WPA 2 Personal and that there is only one router/device acting as a DHCP server and providing NAT services.

remote app & home sharing worked on my new iPad (3rd gen) but did not work on my iPhone 4. this went on for a week or so but now both of them (remote app and home sharing) work on my iPhone but stopped working on iPad. I tried re installing itunes to 10.6.1.7 (latest version) with no luck. please help because i prefer using my ipad to control my pc
Be sure that all devices are on the same network.
If apple tv and remote are on same homeshare you should be able to select and control the apple tv from with in the remote app.
If apple tv and the itunes are on the same homeshare the apple tv will see the itunes library (and shared photos) in the computer section.
Additionally if these are all on the same homeshare you should see both the apple tv and the itunes library in the remote app.

I cannot get the iOS remote app to connect to my Apple TV2. It connects just fine to the iTunes libraries on my network, but from three different iOS devices I get the same error. The app sees the ATV2 and tries to connect, but fails. The odd thing is, it used to work flawlessly. I hadn't used the app for a month or so and now its not working. I've tried resetting the apple TV (both power cycle and full settings reset) as well as rebooting the router and the iOS devices. I reinstalled the remote app as well. The weird thing is, I can airplay mirror to the ATV2 fine, just the remote app fails. The error message I receive after sitting at the "Connecting to Apple TV" screen is as follows:
"Remote can't connect to your iTunes library. Check your network settings and try again.
I have no idea what changed in my set up, perhaps a software upgrade screwed something up but I'm at a loss I've tried everything. The ATV2 is running 4.4.4, the iOS devices are all up to date running latest remote app.

Of note though, this will take a relatively well performing network to achieve this, I have such a network, if your network is not as good as it might be, you might encounter problems.
For the avoidance of doubt, I used the remote app on my phone to get my iTunes library on my computer to stream music to 3 of my Apple TVs, I then used the remote app to control another Apple TV and get it to stream a music video from my computer to it. Of interest I managed to do this while my wife was using yet another Apple TV (not with the remote app) to watch something else from iTunes on my computer. -
Help needed to connect Canon 6D to iPad remote app
I have the iPad EOS remote app and a Canon 6D I cannot get them to communicate, on the 6D wi-fi set up screen the manual tells you to select wi-fi function then shows a screen with different graphics on it so you can select mobile phone etc, well I cannot get this screen when I select wi-fi function I get the choice of EXIT or CONFIRM, nothing else, no selection screen, what am I doing wrong?.

Go to Solution.Thanks, it appears that if you have a router nearby or the iPad is normally connected to a wireless network it confuses it so the best method is to go down the end of the garden or some other isolated place and it connects every time, problem solved

My ipad jumps apps and internet tabs when I am using it to watch videos and produce mini art.
I have reset factory settings and such, but it still happens.

I had hoped that I could use my Laptop Pro for unrelated tasks while I watch a movie-I have chosen TV only on the drop down. I dont seem to be able to seperate the twoThe movies do not download onto apple TV it shows them as purchased and you need to stream them down. If you want to show your purchased music on Apple TV you need to sign up for iTunes Match.
There seem to be a few glitches with iTunes Match so i just use the computer icon to listen to music on my computer through Apple TV. If you have your Movies and TV shows on your computer this is where you will find them.
The Movies and TV Shows buttons on the main page of Apple TV show you films and tv shows you have purcahsed or cen rent or purchase.
You can also sync your Photos over as well. Method is slightly different in that in iTunes on the computer

Here for your case suggest you to configure RDP session time limit so that your user can disconnect\log off once the specific time limit reached.
You can setup the session time limit in different method.
1. Open the Server Manager, select Remote Desktop Services.
2. In Remote desktop Services, in right side you can drop down to collections.
3. Select the collection which you want to edit the settings.
4. Under collections Properties, select Task and then Edit Properties.
5. In Properties dialog box, select Session.
6. You can find all thetimeout settings under session collection properties; edit according to your requirements and then OK.
And apart also by group policy setting as below.
