IPad repeatedly copying songs during sync

I have noticed that each time I sync my iPad, a varying number of songs get copied each time.  I am on iOS 6.1.2 and iTunes 11.0.2.
The problem happens both when I would sync via WiFi or plugged in--moreso when on WiFi sync
With the help of a former Genius Bar guy, I backed up the iPad to my Mac, reinstalled fresh copy of iOS and rebuilt the iPad and its contents.  The problem persists.  Also, and I don't know if it is related, but my song count in iTunes is different from my song count on my iPad which is different from my song count on my iPhone.
Ideas?

So may know that if there is a same issue when u sync though a USB cable?

  • ITunes Refuses To Copy Songs Without Syncing

Besides being the most annoying music device I've owned, the iTunes works perfectly for it. iTrash refuses to copy songs to my iPuke unless I sync them and in doing so it wants to copy all 12GB's of music to an 8GB device. Who came up with this connection system? There's a worm in my apple.

If the capacity of your iPod is smaller than the size of your library your library you have a couple of options.
    1) Manage your iPod manually and drag whatever content you wan to it from iTunes:
    Managing content manually on iPod
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod
You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer, once you are connected you can change your settings: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
    2) Use the option "Sync Music - Selected Playlists. Syncing selected playlists is just like syncing your whole library only on a smaller scale and more "selectively". When your iPod is is set to sync selected playlists it automatically picks up any changes you made to that playlist in iTunes since you last connected. Anything you added to the playlist will be added to the iPod, anything you deleted from it will be deleted from the iPod. In other words the iTunes playlist and the iPod are kept "in sync".
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 7400MB for a 8G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod.

  • Losing songs during sync process

I am having to recreate an iTunes library for my son. He swears the next sync will erase all of this songs. Is this true? If so, how can I prevent that from happening?

It's true, if you sync an ipod to an EMPTY library, that ipod will get erased.
However, you wrote that you are recreating an itunes library, which implies it will not be empty....the ipod would get filled with whatever is selected from the library.
I'm not sure what your situation is...
do you need to get music off the ipod?

  • Itunes stops working when copying apps during Sync

Hi I am using Itunes 12.01.26 on a Windows 7 PC
My library is saved on a nas server and the network drive is mapped.
I have an ipod 5 and Iphone 5s
Up until october this configuration has works a treat however since about October I have had difficulting in Syncing.
I cannot sync my music  - everything i try fails so as a last resort i have tried to restore my devices.
Itunes stops working when it gets to the stage of copying the apps.
I have read a suggested solution to move the library to the local C drive but this does not seem to be reasonable solution particularly as my library is large.

Same problem here with Win 7 64 bit & iphone 4.  It all started a few weeks ago with itunes upgrade 10.4.8.   After about 20 hours wasted time, uninstalling and re-insstalling all Apple products in the suggested order as suggested on another forum.  Still had the same problem.  Will sync fine until I check the "videos" tic box.  Itunes stops working in the step of "optimizing photos" (????).  If I go back and uncheck "videos" tic box, iphone4 will sync just fine.  BUT now all my videos previously on my iphone are on the PC.  I would like them back on my phone!
I gave up and went to the Apple Store to visit with a Genius.  Took my PC and everything with me.  It was not from lack of trying, she did all the same stuff I did and checked everything over.  Could not fix it.  She said it appeared everything on my PC was set corrrectly and the problem was probably with itunes.  Said she always waits a little while when updates come out to make sure there are not bugs before putting them on her stuff.  Lesson learned.
I hope with Steve Jobs gone, this is not the future of Apple

  • Recent video content on iPad/iPhone is reloading during sync.

Recently purchased video content is reloading to my devices even though the same content is already on the device.
Can successfully remove the video, and that stops the reload during subsequent syncs.  If the content is put back, the reloading starts again in subsequent syncs.
Not the worst problem, but a big time and data consumer, and very annoying.
    I have tried the following without success of stopping this behavior;
1.)  Deleted the video in question from my library and downloaded it again from Apple.
2.)  Downloaded/Reinstalled iTunes from Apple on my laptop.
    3.)  Device soft reset.
4.)  Device factory reset and restored.
My current system is;  OSX 10.9.3 and iTunes 11.2.2 running on MacBook Pro, while OS Version 7.1.1 resides on my iPhone 5S and iPad2.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Update to the above concern... not only does my video reload over and over on each subsequent sync after it is already on the device, I am now also seeing 2 apps just purchased do the same.
I figure this must be an iTunes or an Account issue as it is doing the same thing across devices.
Local Apple store had no idea what to suggest to correct this error tonight.

  • My iPad won't backup to my computer during sync

Since downloading iOS5, my iPad won't backup during sync with my computer.  It tries to start, then just sits there.  Any ideas?  I'm working off of Windows7 on my computer and have already tried the Restore function.
    Thanks!

first of all make sure your icloud storage isn't full. Try plugging your iPad into your computer and click on icloud.
And if non of this helps either contact your local apple store or visit it when you get the chance.
    I hope something helped.

  • Newly purchased songs not syncing with icloud

I have purchased a song on my iPhone and iPad and neither song has synced to my desktop or iPhone or iPad via the iCloud.  I have updated to all the proper operating systems and have the store set up to automatic downloads.

"I have seen you post this answer more than once."
I've posted it more than once because the question is asked more than once. It's a fix that has worked for some in the past. Would you have me no longer post it?
Here's another possible fix. (sorry, I've posted this more than once too)
Enable the iPod for disk use. See How to enable disk use.
Go to "my computer" and from the tools menu/folder options/view tab, enable "show hidden files and folders" in the advanced settings pane. Open the iPod in "my computer". Look for a file called "iEKinfo". Is it there? If so, make a copy of this file and save it somewhere easy to find (the desktop for instance). Do this also with the "iTunes DB" file. Don't worry if you can't see these files.
Create a new administrator account. Log out of the current account and log in to the new one. Then restore the iPod to factory settings.
Open iTunes, connect the iPod and set the transfer preferences to manual transfer. Then download the free single of the week from the iTunes Music Store. Verify that song plays in iTunes.
Now, drag this song only to the iPod, and eject the iPod from iTunes and disconnect it from the computer.
Does the song play on the iPod ok? If so, log out of the new user account and log back in to your normal one (the one you have issues with) and reconnect the iPod to the computer. Keep manual transfer selected for the moment. Drag some of the older purchased music (the ones that wouldn't play before) to the iPod.
Eject the iPod and disconnect it. Do those songs now play ok?
If not, first try this step.
Delete the SC Info.sidb file. Open iTunes again.
Now transfer some of the affected music to the iPod again. Does it play ok?

  • IPhone not removing played podcasts during sync(using the unplayed feature)

    Hi folks,
I listen to a lot of podcasts. When I used an iPod the sync unplayed option. Once I listened to a podcast it was removed (saving space for more podcasts). With my iPhone I've got the options set up correctly (i.e. set at Sync Unplayed) but podcasts are not removed once I play them.
I called up Apple support and their Tier II were able to confirm the problem and are sending it up to their engineers. Hopefully that'll mean a fix in the next software update.

I am having the same problem.
iTunes transfers all of my podcasts to my 2nd Gen iPod Nano (and replacement 3rd Gen iPod Nano), regardless if I specify 1, 3, or 5 “most recent” podcasts or even completely disable podcast syncing altogether.
How do I know all my podcasts are being transferred?
    1. I see that iTunes is copying them during “Sync”
    2. The podcasts (almost 3 GB total if iTunes transfers all of my podcasts, under 100MB normally) take up space on my 4GB 2nd Gen iPod Nano, preventing me from syncing my music and audiobooks (around 2.22 GB)
    3. On my 2nd Gen iPod Nano, illicit podcasts can be found via “Artist”, “Album”, “Song”, etc.
    4. I see the podcast files when browsing my iPod using third-party software.
What have I tried to fix this?
    1. Closed and reopened iTunes
    2. Checked to make sure I had the most recent version of iTunes
    3. Checked to make sure I had the most recent version of the iPod Software (1.1.3)
    4. Downloaded and reinstalled iTunes (7.6.29)
    5. Reset my iPod
    6. Restored my iPod from iTunes
    7. Reformatted and then restored my iPod
    8. Deleted and restored my entire iTunes Library via Time Machine
    9. Exported, deleted and re-imported my entire iTunes Library
    10. Deleted and re-subscribed to my podcasts
    11. Reinstalled OS X 10.5 (“Erase and Reinstall”)
    12. Purchased a 3rd Generation iPod Nano
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Open iTunes 7.6
    2. Delete all podcasts, move files to trash
    3. Connect iPod Nano
    4. Uncheck podcast syncing and apply settings
    5. Subscribe to podcast via iTunes Store
    6. Sync
    7. Watch as the podcasts are synced to my iPod
    5. Confirm using third-party software (or browse to tracks on 2nd Gen iPod Nano via “Artist”, “Album”, “Song”, etc.)

  • HT1296 somebody can help me?, I am trying to sync my ipad but i get the following message: iTunes cannot add any songs to the iPad "Fernando Velazquez Ipad" because no songs in the playlist "Purchased" can be copied to this iPad.

iTunes cannot add any songs to the iPad “Fernando Velazquez Ipad” because no songs in the playlist “Purchased” can be copied to this iPad.

That usually means your phone was previously sync to a different iTunes media library.
by syncing to your Mac now, if want to wipe the data off the phone and sync it with the data currently in the iTunes media library.

  • Im trying to get some purchased songs to sync onto my ipad, but when i try it says they could not be synced as i need to authorise my computer which has been done already but its still not syncing them can someone help please?

Im trying to get some purchased songs to sync onto my ipad, but when i try it says they could not be synced as i need to authorise my computer which has been done already but its still not syncing them can someone help please?

    Hello there, Gemss.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great recommendations for the issue you're describing:
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
Although all of the scenarios may be applicable, many folks find that the following section helps resolve their issue most often:
Authorize using the correct account name
The items you're trying to play might have been purchased using a different iTunes Store account. To determine which account was used to purchase an item, follow these steps:
Select a purchased song in your library and choose File > Get Info.
Click the Summary tab. Note the Account Name that appears in the list. This is the account name (Apple ID) you'll need to use when authorizing your computer to play this purchase.
Note: The account name that appears is the one you used when purchasing the item and does not change if the account name (Apple ID) changes.
If you've authorized the Apple ID that is shown in the Summary tab, you can check the purchase history for that Apple ID from Store > View My Account. If your purchase history does not reflect the purchase of the items in your iTunes library, consider any other Apple ID you may have created, and authorize the computer for your additional Apple ID.
If you forgot the password to one of your accounts, you can recover it using Apple's password-recovery website.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • On my ipad 2 I can't "see" the hundreds of spoken audio tracks that are in my itunes and on my ipod touch. Is there something I didn't do during sync up?

On my ipad 2 I can't "see" the hundreds of spoken audio tracks that are in my itunes and on my ipod touch. Is there something I didn't do during sync up? The tracks are from voice recordings that were downloaded from an extrernal drive and weren't necessarily tagged as spoken audio. Do I need to go back into itunes and relabel these tracks so they will show up on my ipad2?
Thanks in advance for your help!

With the iPad connected to the computer, while iTunes is running, click on the iPad name on the left side under devices. Click on the Movies tab and look for Movie Rentals. You want to "Move" the films to the iPad.
