IPAD - restore apps etc to Ipad post update
I have updated to iOS5 and still have apps siting on my laptop . How can I transfer these back to my iPAD?
I also have notes soemwhere, but want to know how i can restore these to my iPAD?
My current version of Ipad 2 is IOS 4.3.3
After install a games call Munch and play a few level. The screen turn blank. When i press power button to wake it. It show apple logo and the background is black.
On the Itunes side, I try to sync but failed because it does not detect my device.
I run into DFU mode and Itunes detect my IPAD 2 but the device name and the device version is blank.
When I try to restore but it failed.
When try to update, Yes it can download the IOS 5.0.1 but it failed to update my device after downloaded. So wasting my 2 hour time to download it.
I try the customs ways. I downloaded IOS 4.3.3 Restore Firmware and IOS 5.0.1 Restore Firmware
the methods is SHIFT+UPDATE/RESTORE

I have a new laptop, and have copied over my existing itunes libary, but when i connect my ipad, and go to update the software to the new version it warns me that it will wipe all my apps etc..... How can i stop this from happening and make my new laptop the "home" for my ipad??
Any help gratefully received! :-)Macs use an application called Migration Assistant to copy material from the old Mac to the new one. The macs are connected together and each runs Migration Assistance and the user chooses what stuf to copy onto the new Mac.
Unfortunately I do not know how to do this between pcs or between a Mac and a Pf or even if it's even possible. -
Is there anyway to restore all photos, apps, etc onto an iPad using the most recent iCloud back up from an iPhone? I did a backup on my iPhone today but when I restored my iPad using that backup, only the photos in the photostream transferred to the iPad?

iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her. -
After updating to iOS 6.1.2, neither my iPhone or iPad will update apps thru App Store. Any suggestions?
What happens when you try?
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. -
I have several very important school related documents on my iPad in the Pages app. Ever since i updated to iOS5, i can no longer open any documents in Pages that I made before I updated. Please help
Without the iPad connected, open up iTunes on your computer. Go to iTunes/Preferences/Devices and delete the backups that you're absolutely certain do not have the documents. Refer to figure below.

(You don't want to create a new backup that does not have the docs.) I would like to upgrade my iPad to iOS 6. It is currently iOS 4.3.5. Can I do that? The article from apple says iTunes will not back up games, apps, etc. Does that mean I will lose them? Some of them I paid for and don't want to lose.
Yes you can upgrade from 4.3.3 to 6.0.
Your media - apps, games, music, photos, and so are not included in the backup. Your app data, settings, and many other things are included in the backup. After you update the iPad, you should sync with iTunes in order to put all of that content back into the iPad. This is what I recommend doing - I do it myself every time I update my iPads, or iPod Touch.
What you should do anytime that you update the device is to transfer purchases from the iPad into iTunes - File>Transfer Purchases - and you should backup the iPad as well. When you update the update the device, if something goes wrong, you can restore from the backup.
If you have any other important files, you may want to transfer them to your computer as well, prior to the update.

Ipad not updating from app store?
Hi,
My app icon says i need to update some apps but when i try 'updating all' it does nothing.
I even try updating separately and still nothing.
Even tried uninstalling and reinstalling and now i can't even download apps!

Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

I do not know the operating system name, but it was the operation system that came with my ipad. This ipad was the first ipad system that was sols by apple.You seem like a person who knows their stuff. I seek some advice in regards to in app purchase issuse after changing apple id and details. I played on my partners iPad he got me my own but my games were purchased via his apple I'd. His work email I'd so we temporarily changed his appple I'd to what I use and account card/billing details, password etc to what suited me. Then backed up connected the new iPad and did a restore. One of my games dont have a in game save/load feature to move game hence the backup and restore so I don't loose progress. Only problem is i tried to do a in app purchase to see if then game file moved correctly and it seems to never connect to server unless I sign out of store and in again then prompt to purchase comes up. After that password yet no product it don't download. Could it be that it is because he has re created his old I'd that i changedup again as new? As before he did that when I tried to purchase I was promptly asked for confirmation but he never let me complete the purchase kept saying its worked. Or is it something else?

how do i find which Apple ID is associated with music in my iTunes? When I sync with my iPad and iPhone it tells me I have music, apps etc from more than five IDs. I am asked for PW for a number of now extinct accounts.
Go to Settings/icloud. The Apple ID at the top of the screen is the only one you need to be concerned about. That one MUST be a working ID, and you must know the password for it, or you will be unable to use the phone if it ever crashes, you want to update it, or you want to sell it.

I'm getting my "new" iPad on Friday. I'm replacing my "original" iPad (1). Since I preordered and will be receiving my iPad directly I will not be picking it up from the Apple store, so no set up from them. Can someone walk me thru what I must to do get my new iPad up and running. I want to transfer my info, apps, etc. to my new iPad but I also want to pass on my old one to a family member who uses the same computer. How shall I proceed? Thanks!
If you want everything that's on your current iPad onto the new one, then you can first copy all purchases off the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. You can then backup your current iPad and restore the new iPad from that backup (a list of what is included in a backup is in this article - it excludes music, videos, synced photos). As the backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their settings and content, for the restore to work completely you'll need all the relevant apps in your computer's iTunes library - otherwise the restore won't be able to install the apps and therefore their content (which is one reason to do File > Transfer Purchases, if that doesn't copy them over then you can re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519).
The restore won't copy passwords onto a different device, so you will need to re-enter your email, router, and any website passwords onto the new iPad.
Depending on what you want to remain on the iPad, you can then either leave it as it is or log out of your account on it (tap on it in Settings > Store) and then wipe it via Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings. -

It seems Apple is having some issues at their end. There have been hundreds of posts on the forum with the same problem.

hi, recently i have forgotten my passcode to my itouch and it has disabled it. if i connect my itouch to my current itunes to enable it, will my music/apps etc be deleted off my ipad? thankyou!
You need to place the iPod in Recovery mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

My iPad stopped showing number of unplayed episode on icon for Podcasts program. I have tried to fix by deleting and reinstalling, restarting iPad, etc., but nothing has helped so far. It may or may not be related, but my iPad also no longer show a list of App that needs to be updated for App Store application. In this case, it shows number of available updates, but does not list them when I open. Then, the only way to find what App needs update, I need to go to "purchased" section, and individually look for updates.
This is basically opposite of what happend to Podcasts App, where it does not show unplayed episode on icon, but it does show unplayed episode once I open the application itself...
Any clue how to fix these problems???Maybe you have content restricted for apps and that would prevent you from installing certain apps.
