Ipad restore mode

We were trying to download IOS 7 to IPAD then it suddently stopped updating and asked to restore the IPAD. If we do this we will loose everything I believe. Is there anyway we can go back / get ut of ths without restoring the IPAD?

With no backup at all, at this stage, your current content is probably gone. You can re-download all your purchased Apps for free.

Mini IPad - restoring mode after itunes update

I had my mini ipad hooked up to my macbook pro and it did an update to inutes... now my mini ipad shows that i have to connect to itunes...when i do that it says its in restoring mode and i gotta restore it and loose everything....

If you have followed the standard Apple troubleshooting processes (see user guide )
probably a trip to the local Apple Store Genius bar is called for before warranty runs out
Assuming the iPad has been released in your Country if not you may have to take it to a
neighbouring Country where it is available

Try a hard reset: hold the power and home buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

How do you get your Ipad 3 out of restore mode? I ended up there by mistake.

Recovery Mode:
1. Turn off iPad
2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

Tried to update my ipad mini and its now stuck in restore mode

My ipad mini was due for update and after it was downloaded on my Mac, it sent the ipad mini into restore mode. I cannot get it out of restore mode. Even tried the turn it off, then hold down home button while plugging it in thing over and over. Nothing. Someone help please.

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery...

You may need to try this More than Once... Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...
Take your time... Pay particular attention to Steps 3 and 4.
After you have Recovered your Device...
Re-Sync your Content or Restore from the most recent Backup...

IPad stuck in restore mode after update to iOS 8.02

I attempted to do this yesterday and after the update was extracted I kept getting an Unknown error 3104. I tried everything form editing the hosts file in Windows 8.1, disabling my Anti-Virus. Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, resetting my router, etc, etc but nothing worked!!! This was very distressing for me as I couldn't use the iPad!!
This morning I tried one last thing. I Downloaded iTunes on another Windows 8.1 PC I have and connected the iPad to it. It detected that it was in Restore mode and download the update from Apple and finally restored the iPad to factory settings!! After this I connected the iPad back on my original PC and restore it to how it was from the last backup made yesterday. Phew!! Apple should say something like this for other users or at least provide some way to get out of restore mode if an update fails or becomes corrupt!!

Apple does make the suggestion to try another computer and another Internet connection for that very same error code that you got.
Restore or update on another computer
Try to restore or update on another computer with a different Internet connection. This will help rule out other issues on your computer that might stop iTunes from communicating with the update server.
Errors 1639, 3000-3020, and 3100-3999 (with the exception of 3194) are sometimes caused by your network settings. If your computer uses a managed network, refer to your network administrator. Proxies, firewalls, and other network security measures can cause these errors. If necessary, find a different network connection to restore the device. For example, if you're restoring at work, try to restore at home or on a friend's computer and network.

IPad 1 stuck in restore mode

Hi,
After numerous attempts and remedies across the net my ipad is still stuck in restore mode, each time returning the follwing error code: The iPad 'iPad' could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1). This is not the usual timing out error, or so I think, and must be something else. Is anyone able to help. Putting in DFU mode, trying to re-set just isn't working sop at the moment it's stuck not doing anything and all data has been lost on the face of it if I can't get to a backup. I've tried downloading the update and manually retoring but still nothing.
I've tried 3 different PC's, removing anit-virus, spyware and firewalls etc to no avail, so any other support welcome or it's out of the window!!!

My wife had a problem that sounds exactly like what you're describing. She has OS 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.5 and tried to put the new system on her 3G iPad 1. The backup went fine, but she got an unknown error 1 during the install of the new system. We weren't using this iPad for development and it was never jailbroken.
We tried putting the iPad into recovery mode, switching cables, restarting the computer, salt over the left shoulder and everything else we could think of and discover via google. My wife finally took the iPad to the "genius" at the Corte Madera Apple Store and he claimed it was a hardware failure and offered to sell her a refurbished iPad for $499. He wouldn't admit that there was any chance the problem was a result of the upgrade process.
Since we didn't believe that this "hardware failure" was a coincidence that just happened to occur during the system update, we persisted with our own attempts to solve the problem and ended up with a solution.
With the iPad in recovery mode, we turned AirPort off (and disconnected ethernet) on the Mac and restarted the update process in iTunes. When iTunes said it couldn't connect to the Apple server, we turned AirPort back on for just long enough to get the update process to resume, then we turned AirPort off again. After a while, iTunes tried to reach the server again and failed, so we turned AirPort back on for just a few seconds and then turned it off again. After that, the update continued just fine and the iPad is no longer a brick. We're pretty sure this wasn't just because the Apple servers were less busy. We had the same error moments before doing the no-WiFi trick.

HT201413 1yr old iPad 3 - updated to ios 6.1.3 started a restore mode

I updated my iPad 3 to ios 6.1.3 - previous to which I had nothing but love for my iPad...after the upgrade it began a loop of rebooting every few minutes. I restored all of the default settings - this cured the ill of the rebooting for several days. After 4 or 5 days the love faded as it began not connecting to wireless or my data plan...would continually say searching...so I decided the only option to me at this time was a complete restore. BIG MISTAKE!!! Now the iPad is stuck in restore mode. Everytime I connect it to iTunes, it tells me it detects an iPad in restore mode and it must be restored...blah...blah - I go through the restore process - it connects to the iPad and shows restore progress happening...however I believe it is the update firmware part where it errors out and gives my the -1 error code. I will admit I am not very iSavvy... I have the newest version of iTunes, updated to 6.1.2. no third party security conflict...can someone who is smarter than me help me figure this out? Can't believe I have this expensive brick after barely a year of use by an adult...

I'm going through the exact same problem. I plugged in last night. Updated and when it came down to restoring it gave me the same message. Corrupt or not compatible.

Hi folks as in the title:
My Ipad 4 froze up and rebooted automatically numerous times.
It then immediately froze up completely and didn't try and reboot itself.
I then hard restarted the device using the home and power buttons simultaneously.
I got the Apple logo and saw my desktop for a moment and then it froze up.
Hard rebooted again only this time I saw "connect to iTunes".
I connected the device to my MBP and iTunes where I was told it was in restore mode.
I followed the on-screen instructions in iTunes to restore the device.
I spent 15minutes downloading the necessary files etc only for the restore to fail through error code '1600'.
I explored this error code in Apple support and followed all Apple's suggestions, and subsequently tried the restore each time.
I have now exhausted all fix options for '1600'...and I can't even get 'connect to iTunes message' on my iPad device now.
Any suggestions would be welcome please?

Unfortunately I don't have another computer with which to try a restore from.
I've tried to reboot the iPad again using the sleep and home buttons (whilst it is unplugged from my MBP) and it remains completely lifeless. I know there is 80% battery life in the device as I had it charging when it malfunctioned.
I've tried recovery mode through iTunes in excess of 15 times now all yielding the same and inevitable result of 'error 1600'.
I think it's time to get to know the team at my local Apple store...

You should really read the manual.
"How do you restore from backup? "
Restore. When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.
