Ipad retina replaced unresponsive touchscreen

I changed a retina ipad recently (broken screen), a few weeks ago.
I am finding the touch screen stops responding.  Hard buttons work ok, rotate screen works, home button works, but touch screen does nothing.
This is for a length of time (5 minutes +)
It then responds and works normally for a while before the touch screen freezes again.
Is this a known software /hardware issue, I may not be at the latest software version, or am I going to have to take it in for replacement again.
are there any diagnostics I can run.
thanks

Hi asdfasdfasdfsdfwefwef,
Did you change the screen on your iPad, or did a Third-Party change the screen for you?
If so, this could be the reason why this is happening. This is the reason why Apple usually swaps out the device rather than repairs the screen-only.
I don't believe any Software troubleshooting would remedy the issue, however you can always try to go through a Backup and Restore of the device.
The Backup is going to ensure that there is nothing lost during the Restore process. The Backup we can complete would be through iTunes ( This Computer ), and it will be mirroring everything on your device into the Backup itself.
Here is additional information about iTunes and what it backs up:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946
The Restore is going to remove and reinstall the Software on your device. This will wave the possibility that this is a Software related issue. It will also remove everything from the device, so that’s where the Backup comes in handy.
Here is how to Restore your device:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
If these steps do not work, then you can see if Apple will service the device. However if the modifcations were not authorized through Apple ( not repaired through Apple ) then you have voided your Warranty in full.
Edit: If you replaced it through Apple, take it right back to them.
Good luck,
Alena

  • Completely unresponsive touchscreen

I sent my Lumia 2520 in to troubleshoot the first instance of the completely unresponsive touchscreen in November 2014, just before the one year warranty expired. NOKIA took my device, labeled it "defective" after the inbound inspection. They then "repaired" it and returned it to me two weeks later.
Since then (and sadly, just days after the original one year warranty expired), on multiple occasions the touchscreen has become completely unresponsive. I'm now unable to turn it off or open the sleep screen to login. I've tried the home/power button reset option. Even that doesn't work.
Today when I tried to call their tech support at 888.665.4228, it rings once then times out in dead air.
If my device was identified as "defective," why did I not receive a NEW DEVICE as a replacement?
If the "defect" was repaired, at a minimum, the warranty for that repair should be extended to one year from date of repair, for the original owner.

Check the terms of the warranty which are usually provided as part of the documentation that you receive with the product, otherwise you can find it on the Microsoft web site for your country (warrsnty terms vary according to the laws of the country where the device is sold).
What you have received is normal service for virtually all major manufacturers: if a faulty device can be repaired, then it will be - you only get a replacement if repair proves impossible; and the original warranty does not extend after a repair.

  • Apple Ipad retina display

Hi, My apple Ipad retina display is broken. Is there a way to replace my Ipad display.
    Thanks,
    Reddi.

Apple can replace the iPad (the whole iPad is replaced, it's not repaired). You don't say what country that you are in, but in the US it's $299 (from here), here in the UK it's £249 (from here) - both prices excluding shipping if required. You might be able to get it replaced cheaper elsewhere, but if it's not an authorised repairer you will void any remaining warranty.

  • Ipad battery replaced out of warranty now screen not working.

I had my first generation Ipad replaced via the battery exchange in December 2012 and now the replacement's touchscreen is not working sometimes.  Do the ipads that come via the out of warranty service come with any warranty?

I can only offer my story. I bought a used 1st gen Iphone. PO had upgraded to 3G. After about 6 months for no reason my screen froze. Called Apple care and suggested I reboot, reinstall, etc.. None of it worked so AC suggested I go to the Apple Store and let them look at it. They told me they could replace w/a refurb @ $200.00, I could buy a new 3G @ $400.00, or I could get a third party to repair it. I mentioned to the Apple guy about the reports of the screen going dead on some phones and he said my phone fell outside the serial numbers that were affected. A little upset, I called AC again and just pushed a little more. I told the guy since it was a mnufacturers defect but my phone was out of warranty I would go half on a refurb at $100.00. He said wait a minute, came back had me send my phone to them and they sent me a replacement phone free. Talk nice to the guys and they will try to help. I said so what I have here now is a very expensive paper weight, is that right? That's when I said I'd go halves on a refurb. I guess they took pity on me. Hope it works out for you.

  • IPhone 3g has unresponsive touchscreen and sleeper button...

Out of nowhere my iPhone 3G has an completely unresponsive touchscreen. The home button and volume control still work, but the sleeper button on the top has not been working for some time. I would really appreciate anybody's help or advice in this, thanks.

Sorry to hear that your iPhone is having so much trouble. Rare, but both these problems can be due to faulty Logic Board and therefore your iPhone would need to be replaced. More commonly however, it is not the Logic Board, and these can be fixed. The repairs are difficult and probably not worth the time or money, so a new iPhone is possibly the best choice. The sleep button repair is very difficult and requires replacement of the Headphone Jack Cable Complex (Flex Cable #5). The unresponsive touchscreen is a faulty digitizer. This can be due to breakage of the screen, visible or not, or can be due to Flex Cable #2 (Digitizer Flex Cable) coming loose from the Logic Board. If #2 is just loose, then Apple Genius at my store will reseat #2 to the Logic Board for free. If it is faulty, then fix is, replacement of Glass Front Screen with the Digitizer attached. Good Luck.

  • Ipad to replace Laptop

I am a college student that is considering purchasing an Ipad to replace my laptop completely is this an option? can i work all of my college needs on just an Ipad? please be honest

If you don't have a computer (be it a Desktop or a Laptop), the iPad would not be enough. You need a computer to sync your iPad (Music, Movies, iOS Updates, etc.)
If you have a Desktop, you could use your iPad for almost everything you need to do "on the go". If you have an iMac, for example, you could use the iMac's Keyboard (or any wireless keyboard) to type on the iPad. The iPad is great for doing/viewing/creating documents and presentations as well as for taking notes on class(some apps even let you add voice notes)
For longer documents, however, I would use the computer. Also in case the iPad doesn't open a file you need to read for school, you could do so on you desktop or laptop at home.
Reading on the iPad is great and with the new retina display, it will be even better. Plus, it is lighter and faster to boot up(just leave it on Standby) so it's great for quick, easy access to everything.
So for reading, browsing the web, viewing/editing documents and presentations, taking notes in class, watching videos, as long as you have access to a computer at home, I'd say you do not need a laptop.
If you do not have a computer and want either an iPad or a laptop, you should go for the laptop.

  • Will I need to purchase iWork for my iPad if I purchase an iPhone 5s? Everybody knows the iPhone 5s with IOS7 gives iWork for free. Then iWork would be listed as purchased app in my itunes store under my account. My iPad retina is in the same account...

Will I need to purchase iWork for my iPad if I purchase an iPhone 5s? Everybody knows the iPhone 5s with IOS7 gives iWork for free. I assume that if I buy an iPhone 5s (or 5c) then iWork would be listed as a "purchased" app in my itunes store under my account. My iPad retina is in the same account... or are keynote, pages, and numbers completely seperate between ipad and iphone? I know they would be a seperate purchase for my Powerbook. Thanks so much for your help!

    Hi,
I was able to load the Productivity Suite / Free !!  on both my iPad mini and my iPhone 5s with no problems and at no cost.

  • HP ePrint mobile app on iPhone 4S & iPad Retina--Both devices say "Photos (0)"

I have just installed HP ePrint mobile app on both my iPhone 4S and my iPad Retina. However, when I go into the app, when the main screen pops up ("Photos" -- "Cloud" -- "Web" -- "Email"), when I tap "Photos," on either device it says: "Photos (0)"--i.e., I'm assuming that the app thinks I have "zero photos" on both devices, which of course is not true. Other details: (1) I have a Photosmart 7510 on my home wireless network; (2) I am able to print OK to the 7510 using Apple "AirPrint"--no problem there; (3) I can also print using either device (iPhone or iPad) using the HP "PrinterControl" app. So, how is it that HP ePrint mobile app cannot "see" my photos on either my iPhone or iPad (especially since they can "see" those photos when using the HP "PrinterControl" app). Thanks very much in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this situation.
    This question was solved.

The issue is related to the privacy settings on ios 6. To resolve this go to settings on your device, then you should see a privacy section. In there go to photos and turn the eprint app on. This should work to allow you to see the photos.

  • Face time fades out and then tries to reconnect on new ipad retina display on WiFi.  Iphone 4s has no problem with face time from exact same location and same contact.  WiFi signal strong on both devices.  What gives?

    Is the router to small?
Not necessarily, if you are using Facetime all the data goes through your WiFi router, your cable/DSL modem, your ISP and the internet to Apple's Facetime servers and then, in reverse, down to the Facetime recipient. If your ISP connection is too slow or there is excessive traffic on the internet you can have Facetime problems.
Most WiFi routers can handle this unless others in the house are also using WiFi at the same time. The problem may be your ISP connection or congestion on the internet, etc.

  • How can I connect my Powerbook or iPad Retina via HDMI cable to 4K digital video camera to be a "control monitor"

That won't work with the iPad, unless maybe there's a "control monitor" app somewhere.

    --break--
So we are entirely new to Apple products. I'm an IT guy, but have always been a windows user.
So the Ipad with Retina Display is to be mine (and will use it at work for notes, organization, etc)
The MINI is for the wife.
But, are we allowed and can we.. buy an app and share that app between both devices? IE. Can I buy a copy of Angry Birds for the House and both Ipad's use that single purchase? and if so, can we still run the Ipads seperate other than to share the apps purchased. IE my facebook and email set up on mine and hers on her ipad mini?
When I finally find a note taking app I like, can I share it on her ipad, without her having all my work files, etc?
Thanks for helping out the apple noob. Hoping for a great experience, and anticipate droping $100 in apps the first day.. just don't want to do that twice. If this is against the usage policy, thats unfortunate but good to know. (I mean we can share stuff on PC as long as its in the same household)
thanks again (explanations or links are fine)

There are a number of Apple services: iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud, Game center, Find My iPad, etc.
Now, to share apps, music and books you need to have the same Apple ID:
iPad's Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID > Your purchasing Apple ID.
For the other service, your wife should have her own Apple ID.
All she needs is a valid e-mail address, apply Apple ID below:

Here's a limk with useful tips: Note: It's also valid in IOS 6
