IPad's desktop-like select+double-click bug

Suddenly my iPad is not responding as before. It is acting like a regular desktop window manager!
Now, when I touch an app icon, the icon is selected. A thin line appear around the icon, like it would be on a normal desktop window manager. Then to launch the app I have to double click. The strange thing is that even if I double click somewhere else, it's the selected app that is launched.
It's exactly the same for the virtual keyboard. One click select the key, two clicks (anywhere) press the key.
If I swipe one finger left, the icon to the left is selected (and vis-versa).
What the ****? Is this a secret features I have somehow activated?
Is there any simple way to go back to the good-ol' multitouch interface?
I have tried to shut down and reboot the ipad (home-click+power 5sec). Nothing works.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Pire

You must have turned on voiceover. Either triple click the home button and see if that fixes it OR go to Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> VoiceOver and turn it off.

  • To display main menu in Safari on iPad Air, I have to double-click on the button.

    Put up my new Muse website and it works well in all the browsers I tested on my PC. However, when I tap on a main menu button while in Safari on my iPad Air, all that happens is that the sub-menus display. I have to tap the main menu button again if I want the main menu page to display. This is not true of a website I built in Joomla. There, a single tap takes me to the page. Is this a bug? If so, is there a fix?

    2. Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple Logo

  • ICal double click bug?

    First, I hope I'm in the correct section to ask an iCal question
    I know this is a picky one, but this drives my partner crazy:
    intro: to switch from one program to the other, I click anywhere on the other program's window to activate/focus on the second program, right?
    dilemma: I'm in e.g. Mail ... I want to create an iCal event for next week (I'm in week view) ... I click twice on the "next" arrow at the top of the iCal window (once to activate iCal, and a second time to advance the view to the following week) ... *what happens though is, the view jumps two weeks* ... because of this, my partner has missed three appointments by now, because they were scheduled the week after they actually took place.
    I know, there are a number of ways to avoid this (the first click should not be on the arrow, check to make sure I'm on the right date etc) but, hey, she is an A-personality and want's to know whether this is a Finder/iCal bug or a function she doesn't understand or a setting that can be changed.
    Thank you.

    That is what is called click-through, and is intended behavior. Try this: move Safari into the background, then click on one of the buttons. Especially interesting, try command-clicking on a bookmark bar item... the bookmark will load in a new tab, but Safari will *remain in the background* so you can continue doing whatever you were doing while waiting for the page to finish loading. (Note that it's not the command key that does this -- that just tells Safari to load in a new tab. It's just how click-through works. Since you loaded in a separate tab without making that the active tab, it is evident you did not want to immediately visit the page, and Safari remains in the background.)

  • The track pad on my Macbook pro isn't working well. The scrollbars are there but the only way it lets me scroll is with the arrows. It also doesn't let me highlight anything to delete it nor does it like me double click to open any documents. Help?

    It isn't letting me copy and paste so the question is the subject, I am sorry.

    Hi Miamel84,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
    If your trackpad is unresponsive, a good troubleshooting step is to reset the PRAM and SMC on your system. The following articles will show you how to do that.  Also see the final article in this post that addresses general issues with jumpy or erratic trackpads.
    You can click on the links to see more details and screen shots.

  • JTable select row by double click, single click

    Hi all,
    I would like to double click on the row of the JTable and pop up a window for adding stuff, a single click for selecting the row and then in the menu bar I can choose to etither add, change or delete stuff. I try to use the ListSelectionModel but does not seems to distinguish between double or single click.
    Any idea, doc, samples?
    or I should not use ListselectionModel at all?
    thanks

    Hi. I used an inner class. By using MouseAdapter u dont have to implement all methods in the interface..
    MouseListener mouseListener = new MouseAdapter()
    public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e)
    if(SwingUtilities.isLeftMouseButton(e))// if left mouse button
    if (e.getClickCount() == 2) // if doubleclick
    //do something
    U also need to add mouselistener to the table:
    table.addMouseListener(mouseListener);
    As I said, this is how I did it.. There are probably alot of ways to solve this, as usual :). Hope it helps

  • Why does double clicking not open desktop folders?

    After installing OpenOffice, my Mac Mini suddenly lost the ability to open desktop folders by double clicking.
    Open Office does not have a de-installer that I can locate.
    Please advise.
    Thank you!

    You may have to log out and back into your account, or restart the computer, for the system to work correctly after a software installation; at times one could also try other things in what may be an exercise in futility just in case something comes from any frustration and accidentally helps resolve any issue that may be in hiding...
    The 'safe boot' and 'repair disk permissions' and other antics sometimes will work to scare the gremlins out of a testy Mac. Or, perhaps it really is as simple as the man says. Adjust the mouse/trackpad in system preference? Could be the settings changed and it may be trying to interpret your clicks too fast.
    I'd not tried 'open office' but some time ago did try the NeoOffice version and it was OK. Then again, so was old AppleWorks back in the day; unless you require some kind of need to parrot MS Office regularly.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • PDF file won't open with double click

    Mac OSX 10.6.8/Acrobat 10.1.3.
    Suddenly pdf files won't open with a double click, I now have to open Acrobat and file>open.
    Also, once they're open, they won't close by clicking the red close dot, I now have to go to file>close.
    Very frustrating!

    Even reinstalling doesn't work with the standard Creative Suite installer. Except for the double-click bug, Acrobat doens't respond to dock-tasks either, like <right-mouse-click> on dock icon and select <quit>.
    In this version of Acrobat, the repair function doen't seem to exist anymore. Sadly....
    So the problem keeps existing, even with the laterst 10.1.4 version.

  • Constant and intempestive double clicking

    Hi,
    I have an iMac 21,5 purchased in October 2011.
    My clicks have gone mad for 2 or 3 days now. It came out of the blue.
    Whenever I click, it acts like a double click. I've been looking for information on internet but I couldn't find anything conclusive.
    I have tried a trick in the System Preferences > Mouse > Double click speed, but it hasn't changed anything (I can go extreme slow or quick, same thing happens).
    I have a Magic Mouse, a random and ultra super plain Logitech mouse (wired) and a common wireless Logitech mouse; the problem is the same for all mice. I also tried my roomate's mouse, and it does the same thing.
    It is a deep pain in the *** since when I delete email I delete 2 of them. Opening a new tab? Here you go 4 of them. Clicking on a document? Oh no you can't rename it and it opens. Have an important text to type? Please, it's impossible de move the cursor without selecting an entire word or phrase or row. It took me 3 hours to clic on "Categories - Using your iMac Intel" because the box was instantly checked-unchecked.
    Usually, when I have a problem I am super intelligent: I have this powerful tool called google and I type my problem in it, find the explanation and think of myself as a fool for not figuring it out on my own. Right now, I can't find any clue about my problem. I'm desperate.
    Neurotically yours,
    Uzume.

    Hi again,
    as I supposed, disconnecting the external hard drive had no effect.
    However, I am experiencing some new phenomenons.
    - When I switch my iMac on / reboot it, there is a Finder window opened on the MacOSX folder
    - Every minute or so, there is somekind of refresh or reload of... everything that is on my desktop. I mean, it's like... huh... hum, how to say. I have a dozen icons of .pdf or .docx or folders, and the -all together- disapear and reapear in a second. This is really annoying.
    I'm beginning to feel like punching through my screen.
    I'm going to look for a way to restore to the past week, if something like that is possible.
    However, if any advice is passing by, please feel free to knock on the door: I have cookies.

  • Bridge Does Not Automatically Bring Up Photoshop When the Photo is Double-Clicked

    I have just purchased CS4 with Bridge for my new MacIntosh.  In Bridge for the PC, when I double click a photo it automatically brings up Photoshop.  On the Mac version, it gives me an error message saying that part of the application is not loaded.  I completely uninstalled the program, and reloaded the application and still get the same message.  So in Bridge on the Mac, to get around this, I right click the picture and go to "Open With" and there are two entries:  "Open with CS4 (default)" and "Open with CS4."  This works if I pick either option.  My Windows version only has "Open with CS4 (default)" as the option.
    I called Adobe support (in India?) with no solution.
    I really like the double click option rather that using the pop-out menu choice.  What is wrong with the Mac install, and how can I fix this issue?

    Thank you for your help.  I updated the software and it "healed" itself.

    Hello.  I am running Photoshop CC 2014 on a MAC with OSX LION.  I also have Photoshop CS6 installed.  When I double-click on a file in Bridge CC, it always opens in CS6.  If I say "OPEN WITH Photoshop CC 2014", or if I drag the file directly to CC 2014 in the Dock it will open in CC.  Since I like to double-click or hit return in the bridge, I am constantly having to wait until the file opens in CS6, quit CS6 an then open it another way to get it into Photoshop CC 2014.  I tried to disable CS6 by hiding it, but then double-clicking Bridge did nothing.  Any ideas why this is happening?

    Check and adjust the File Type Associations in the bridge cc preferences.
