IPad (safari and chrome) redirecting to various unsavoury sites.

Appears browser/s have been hijacked or embedded ads in sites are redirecting to less than cool adult sites. Have changed dns server, wiped cookies and cache, unlinked iCloud, deleted any non- standard apps. Never been to such sites, but only recently started since I moved overseas. Seems this is a common problem on iPad, but are there any solutions? Resent ios6 upgrade didn't help either.

I am having the same issues. I don't visit Adult sites and have a brand new iPad. Only difference between the new and the old iPad is that I restored everything from my old unit to the new one from iCloud. Can't replicate the issue on my desktop, laptop or my mother-in-laws iPad. So probably NOT the ISP. What gives? This thing is brand new and is for my child with disabilities. Certainly don't need THIS.
Am still using 5.1 as I am not really sold on iOS 6 yet. Once again, no issues on old iPad, just on the new one...weird.

Safari and Chrome Won't Open Some Sites?

Have had many Macs, an experienced user and recently came upon an internet problem. Using Chrome 14.0 for many months, and Safari 5.1 for longer, and have recently found (within 2-3 weeks) that internet pages will not load; new sites by Google Searches, and sites I have visited many times before, including the Apple Support site, very ironic, I suppose! I accessed the Apple Community using Chrome, after it would not load in Safari.
I have emptied the cache, and cleared the cookies, with no impact. Running OSX 10.6.8 on 2.8 GHz iMac, Core i5 with 4 GB RAM. Mac is on a WLAN, which does not drop, ever, with a full fan signal strength visible in the toolbar above.

To do it:
System Preferences>Network, click on your WiFi connection on the left then click on the Advanced button, select the DNS tab. Under the panel DNS servers click on the '+' sign and insert the numbers 208.67.220.220 - click the '+' again and insert 208.67.222.222
Alternatively to the numbers listed you can use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Save the settings - hopefully it'll make a difference.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I'm using a new Wordpress theme that is meant to be responsive. The large image is for a header, than you scroll down to see the rest, one by one. Some one the pages work OK on my iPad, typically the old ones where the maximum image size was 500 x 500. It's the new pages and those I've updated that are causing the problem. On the iPad the large image loads, then a couple of the small ones become visible as I scroll down, but then darkness (rather like my knowledge level).
Being new to IOS and iPads, I'm trying to work out whether I should be looking here, or amongst the Wordpress stuff for a solution.

Chances are you mis-typed a character in the Wifi password and the devices saved that information. Now whenever you try to connect the device refers to the wrong password and the Jetpack does not accept your connection. Tell your devices to forget the wireless connection and start over.
Once you enter the proper WiFi credentials the Jetpack will allow you to connect.

Sessions not working in Firefox, Safari and Chrome, but working in iexplore

I have been running Tomcat 5.0.18 jdk 1.4. and have just upgraded to Tomcat 6.0.24 jdk 1.6..
I have an app that you need to log on to in a jsp page. When succesfully logged in it redirects to a framed page with 3 pages in it.
All elements of that framed page check for a valid session, if there is one, it displays itself, if not, it redirects back to the log on screen.
This has worked fine for years in all browsers. But since upgrading, in Firefox, Safari and Chrome, when the parent framed page jsp checks for a session, its fine, it passes, but when the other sub-frame pages check for a session, it comes back as a new session, i.e. its not picking up the session that has just been validated and redirects to the login page. Iexplore still works fine. i.e. all 3 pages validate ok.
Any ideas why these browsers are not pickng up the session?

As a test, try putting an empty JSP in front of it that triggers the session to be created, and then redirects (with a HTTP meta refresh for example) to the frameset jsp to see if that fixes anything.
If that fixes it, then I guess the pages load too quickly.

You, or someone using your computer, hacked the system to redirect certain URL's. The file modified is /etc/hosts.
The easiest way to fix the hosts file is to restore it from a backup that predates the modification, or to copy the unmodified file from another Mac. If you can't do that, then do as below. Please read this whole message before doing anything.
Back up all data. This is a simple procedure, but if you don't follow the instructions exactly, you could be left with an unbootable system. In that case, you'll have to restore from a backup or reinstall OS X.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
open -a TextEdit /etc/hosts
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:

That will fix the hosts file. There is now a copy of the old hosts file with the name "hosts~" in the same folder as "hosts". You can delete the copy if you wish. Don't delete the file named "hosts".

Length of audio file not correct in Firefox, Safari, and Chrome. Why?

I created a mp3 player that loads the file, displays the sound length, and plays the audio file. I have notified that on Firefox, Safari, and Chrome browsers, the length of audio file is not correct. I have uninstalled and installed flash plugin and activex control but no luck. Any ideas why I am experiencing this behavior?

Watching youtube using safari and chrome

How can i watch youtube video using safari and chrome browsers?
Now both browsers CANNOT PLAY ANY VIDEO from youtube. I have tried both mobile and desktop options of youtube.
I am already getting nervous with new ipad...

I tried jasmine and several other players for youtube,
but the problem still remains, they all do not work,
they all show the same message when i try to play any youtube video,
"this video is currently unavailable".
it seems as they use safari to play youtube, but safari itself cannot do that

I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. Safari and Chrome Start to hog up most of the processor. the videos start out of but after a while the proccessor jumps up to 100% then make the video out of sync with th audio. The Audio will play fine. Once it starts The Processor will cycle up and down until the video is stopped. also I noticed the when transfering any file to and from a USB Stick it takes along time now.
This is what is going on with no video playing.

Missing quicktime plug-in in Safari and Chrome

Go to this page: http://docs.autodesk.com/NINVFUS/S3/ENU/index.html and click Essentials Videos then click any title. In Safari and Chrome, I (and others) get Missing Plug-in.
I've tried using Pacifist with OSXUpdCombo10.8.2 to install quicktime. I tried copying the quicktime plugin to the library. I tried installing Perian. Still no joy.
Any suggestions before I reinstall OS?

I don't believe that reinstalling will help. I have no problems with 10.8.3 so try installing the Combo update of that if you want, but I get the same as you on that particular website, yet have had no problems with any other website. May be it's made for Windows IE. Reinstalling the entire OSX would be pretty drastic.
Contact the hosts of that website first and ask them.

Firefox will not open Version 4.01 (tried to download new version), on MacBook Pro running 10.6.8. Safari and Chrom both work OK

I cannot get on-line with Firefox. It simply will not open any page. I'm told it cannot make a connection. And yet both Safari and Chrome work fine, hence it is not a connection problem.
Moreover, when I started with Chrome, it offered me the option to export bookmarks, but only from Safari. Firefox never appeared in the import box
I was using Firefox 4.01. I tried to download the new version, dragged it to Applications, but 4.01 remains in situ. I work on a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8

If you can access Facebook while on Wifi at home, but you are unable to access it while away running on your carrier's 2G network, I could phone your carrier. You have already completed the Cellular Data troubleshooting for the iPhone, so any limitations keeping your from connecting to Facebook over cellular will have to be answered by your carrier.
