IPad Safari opening possible for mid-2013 MBP

Is it possible to have/get the iPad opening Safari screen on the mid -2013MBP?  Thanks,

Hey mate,
The same night i posted about this issue, which had been happening for a couple of months, it just suddenly fixed itself. I have no idea what i did, so sorry i cant really help you out. But it has since been fine and running without any issues at all. Hopefully your's does the same or Apple can come up with a solution.
Cheers

  • Any Upgrades Possible for Mid-2007 MBP?

I was wondering if anybody knew the answer to this question.
Before I start, there are a couple of issues I'd like to address.
First, my Macbook Pro's optical drive has become unreliable just like most other users have experienced over the years. To remedy this, I just purchased an external DVD writer. This leaves me with the thought to remove the superdrive and install a second HDD in it's place (See: Data Doubler). Also, the original HDD had failed during my Applecare warranty, and Apple had replaced it with a larger capacity one.
Second, my Time Machine backup external HDD began to make unusual and loud noises today. To me It sounds like it's approaching failure (I certainly hope not), which has really made me think about stepping up to a RAID config.
Finally, I've read in some articles about upgrading 4GB MBP's to 6GB. I was hoping if I could do the same with mine.
So my question invovles the following: Can I upgrade my MBP to have two HDDs in a RAID1 configuration, and add more memory? Can I also set up an External RAID1 or RAID5 configuation? ? If none of these apply, what are my other possible options?
I'm running Lion if that helps.
    Thank you.

Just to be sure - is it a MacBookPro3,1? Need to know that first. But of course you can use the Data Doubler in your machine but to set up RAID, I think that you'd have to have two identical HD's in the bay. I've never used RAID on Mac' so I'll let someone else answer that.
As to RAM, MacTracker reports that you can use up to 6GB of RAM (1 stick of 2 GB, 1 stick of 4 GB). You can't go wrong with calling the good folks at OWC to ask about a RAID config using their Data Doubler, though.
And, as to your external 'dying,' I think that my first priority would be replacing it so that you can keep your back-ups up-to-date. You don't say, but since you can run Lion, I'm assuming you are? If so, then you could use Time Machine, which I swear by - I've been using it since my Snow Leopard days on a 2006 1,1.
Again, I'd call OWC and ask for their recommendations. Sure, they're going to want to sell you something but they are always good for advice, too.

  • Bootcamp 5 for mid-2010 MBP troubles...

Hello community, I've been having some frustration with Bootcamp 5.0 and up now with my Macbook Pro mid-2010 model. I've had bootcamp running fine with windows 7 before Apple released 5, but I've read that for some reason that my model does not support the support software. All i am trying to do is have my bootcamp setup how i had it before, which is just the windows 7 bootcamp partition with my mouse and everything working fine. Backlit keyboard and such isn't too important, i'm just more focused on the basic functionality. So does anyone know if there's any workaround this? maybe alternate drivers i could download after i reinstall my windows 7?
    Thank you very much guys!
    Opher

I wish I could but i already wiped out my previous Windows 7 setup completely. I'm basically starting fresh. I just mentioned that because it worked on the model before so I thought it would be possible for it to work now

  • Advice on 512 SSD for mid-2010 MBP

I have an i7, mid-2010 MBP with self-upgraded 8GB and I'd like to replace the HD with an SSD. I think now prices have come down enough for me to afford this and I would like advice on doing this, please. I am running Mavericks but will upgrade to Yosemite well before doing the swap. I've read that some firmware needs to be updated/patched before replacing an MBP's HD with an SSD and that Mavericks might have trouble with them. I do not understand the details, I'm afraid. I have found a couple of SSDs on eBuyer and would like advice on the right drive:
    http://www.ebuyer.com/629703-crucial-m550-512gb-2-5inch-sataiii-ssd-ct512m550ssd 1

TL;DR: Is there anything I need to know before I go ahead and order an equivalent SSD to replace my MBP's HD and are there any gotcha's I should know about regarding firmware/drivers etc?
    Thanks,
    Matt

I love Crucial SSDs - I've four now. If I were you, I would go for the M550 512GB. It's the latest Crucial technology and a bit faster than the MX100 series. Flashing new firmware is pretty straight-forward, although you usually need access to an optical drive to burn a disc to boot from.

  • Using old Gateway monitor as second display for Late 2013 MBP?

    Hi all,
I'm currently running OSX 10.9.4 on a late 2013 MacBook Pro with 15-inch Retina Display. I recently took an old Gateway LCD monitor (with DVI and HDMI ports) off of someone's hands and was wondering if I'd be able to use it as a second display for my MBP. I have a DVI to HDMI adapter and an HDMI cable. If this is doable, instructions would be great.
    Thank you!
(Yes, this is a repost. I realized I posted the other one in the wrong section, and I was unable to move sections.)

I have, using the adapter, connected them via the MBP's HDMI slot and the other monitor's DVI port. The monitor turns on, but the Mac doesn't recognize the other display. The other display is simply blank after it's initial turn-on screen.

  • Ipad safari opens but closes immediatly

safari on ipad 1st generation opens and then closes imm.
Have tried reseting but wont work !

Try this. Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Clear Cookies, Clear Cache - clear all three - restart - hold down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and slide to shut down. Restart by holding down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the button and let the iPad fully restart. Try Safari again.

  • Best HD replacement for mid 2009 MBP 15"

Dear friends.  my wife owns a mid-2009 MacBook Pro 15 inch. We want to replace her 500 GB hard drive with a 1 TB drive. I spent time on the OWC website  and had three long and extremely interesting  live chat exchanges with the sales staff. But I ended up with conflicting information. There are two hard drives that I have been considering.
    A) -  1.0TB 2.5" HGST Travelstar 7K1000 7200RPM SATA 2.0 3Gb/s 9.5mm Notebook Drive 32MB Cache;  and
    B) - 1.0TB 2.5" HGST Travelstar 7K1000 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 9.5mm Notebook Drive 32MB Cache
The difference is between the first  drive which is  SATA 2.0 3 Gb/s,  and the second which is SATA 6 Gb/s.
I was told by one customer rep,  and as it reads on their website. that the 3 GB model has "OWC 3Gb/s firmware enabled for downclocked use in 3Gb/s systems.. And the other drive uses the existing  6 GB HGST  standard format. And that the 3 GB firmware edited by OWC  with specifically for use in computers such as the mid-2009  MacBook Pro.
Not satisfied with this answer I checked with another rep who told me that the 3 GB model firmware was only relevant when using a SSD  solid state drive and that either of these two models would be fine as a replacement in the  mid 2009 MacBook Pro.   This would be fine,  except for the obvious issue that this 3 GB firmware was developed for  and exists on, a standard HDD  Notebook Drive and not for a SSD drive.
so my question for the community is do I need the 3 GB version with software firmware made by Oh W C for use in the mid-2009 MacBook Pro, or can I use the standard 6 GB drive in that computer?

It is most definitely recurring as I cannot reach the OS by any means. Tried resetting the PRAM also, starting via recovery disk also leads to an automatic restart. In all cases the Apple logo can bee seen with the progress indicator running. At one point it stops, and restarts itself. The machine can only be used in target disk mode.

  • Calibrate Battery for Mid 2010 MBP 15" and "safe" sleep

Ok, I have read various posts on what is suppose to happen. I know Apple changed the way the "computer will goto sleep when battery is drained after warning message" function from the earlier non-clam-shell MBP's did. But, I have gotten mixed messages on that as well.
What happens on my MBP when I run the battery down is that a warning message pops up, then if I do not put it to sleep or plug power in, it shuts down into safe sleep mode with the result being NOT a pulsating sleep light like the non-clam shell MBP's.
    If you read:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490
I am assuming safe sleep is not like normal sleep in that no pulsating light is present? From the link above... (but doesn't mention that "safe sleep" is a non-pulsating light version..
*Tip: When the battery reaches "empty", the computer is forced into sleep mode. The battery actually keeps back a reserve beyond "empty", to maintain the computer in sleep for a period of time. Once the battery is truly exhausted, the computer is forced to shut down. At this point, with the safe sleep function introduced in the PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD) computers, the computer's memory contents have been saved to the hard drive. When power is restored, the computer returns itself to its pre-sleep state using the safe sleep image on the hard drive.*
So, is this what others with this model are seeing?

I'm using the early 2011 model of the MBP 15". I experienced the same thing. I used the battery until it got to 0% and then the display turned off. The sleep light only glowed once and then faded and did not pulsate. When I pressed the Power Button, that brought up a grayed version of the desktop. And then after a few seconds, I was back to the normal desktop. Is that the same thing that happened to you?

  • RAM Upgrade for Mid-2010 MBP 2.8 GHz Core i7

I ordered an 8 GB Memory upgrade kit from OWC. When I install the memory, the screen remains blank and I get 3 long tones, 3 short tones and 3 long tones. Article HT2538 says that should be a Firmware restoration from CD in process, but that's not the case. Software Update says everything is at the latest level. Bad Ram, or wrong specs the more likely culprit? What about Firmware?
Both the current system settings and the label on the new ram says DDR3 PC8500 1066MHz

Update: OWC Tech Support responded to try and clean the RAM contacts witha pencil eraser. This work for one module, but not the other. I will be returning the defective module.
Additionally, I was incorrect about the error code. The system replies with 3 short tones, 3 long tones, 3 short tones. This is opposite of the "Firmware upgrade" code I thought I was getting. I have not been able to ID this code (The RAM failed checksum code is just 3 short tones, not this sequence)

  • Macbook Pro-mid 2013 Maximum RAM

Hello, i have a Macbook Pro-mid 2013 (13" inch-intel Core i5 2,5ghz-4go RAM) and i'd like to upgrade the RAM to the maximum possible.
I saw that officialy, the maximum is 8go but that it's possible to use 16go without problems.
Is there any risk to upgrade to 16go?
What brands would be the best choice?
    Thank you for your help.

You note two different machines, the MacBook Pro Mid-2012 and Mid-2013.  There is no Mid-2013 MBP, but the Early and Late 2013 models cannot be upgraded after sale.
The Mid-2012 can be upgraded to 16 GB but like all Macs, you need to use ram guaranteed for a Mac as they are very sensitive to the timing of the memory.  Buy from OWC, http://www.macsales.com or Crucial, http://www.crucial.com

  • Mid 2013 MBPR 15' trackpad problem

    Hello,
I have a mid 2013 (May) MBP 15', and just today the trackpad went crazy, as I was browsing it suddently became unresponsive, moving around on its own and clicking. Are there any similar issues about mid 2013 MBPs, and if not, how can I tell if it's a hardware problem or if it's just a problematic update?
    Thanks

UPDATE: Mustn't be a hardware problem because the trackpad works fine on Bootcamp Windows 7.

    Ok so,
When I open safari on my iPad 2 and browse for a while, when I close safari on my background of the home if leaves the address bar imprint and also down the side of the background it leaves white lines from the web browser. I've also noticed it when using various apps aswell. It's not just safari. I've also tryed different background images and it still does it!
    Any help?
    Thanks Natalie

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Macbook Air (mid-2013) Black Screen Upon Opening Screen

    Hi Everyone,
I have a mid-2013 Macbook Air (bought in August)  that I updated to OS X 10.9 a few weeks ago.  Recently I've been noticing that when I flip the screen up it'll work fine, but if I do so consecutively for two times (ie. opening it once, closing it, then opening it again), the screen goes black (sometimes a half-black that's still lit up, othertimes it's completely black as if it were off).  This also happens when I put it in sleep mode by pressing the power button once.  If I do it twice, the black screen appears as well.  Nothing I press on the keyboard will cause the screen to come back on.  The only thing I can do is to force it shut down and then reboot.  I reset the SMC and PRAM and neither has helped. Apple told me that I need to take it into a store but I have several essays due in the next week and finals after that.  I can't be without a laptop so I can't send it in for repair until at least mid-December.  I'm hoping it's not a hardware issue (since other people have posted about this as well) and it'll be solved by an update.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks for the help!

  • TS1702 Hello, we have a Mac and an ipad, the Mac is working and wifi is on and the Ipad's wifi is on too, but Ipad Safari can not open because it could not connect to the server, does any one know what have happened?

Hello, we have a Mac and an ipad, the Mac is working and wifi is on and the ipad's wifi is on too, but Ipad Safari can not open the page because it could not connect to the server, does any one know that?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Is it possible for another app to open a Viewer app?

Is it possible for another app to 'link' to a Viewer app, thus having a button that opens the viewer app? A little bit like the Music app can open the itunes store app on the iPad. On iOS? On Android?
    Thanks in advance,
    Axel

    Hello Klaasjan,
The reason I asked is because of the following text in the DPS Help file (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/WS67cb9e293e2f1f60c5dd08612e5ea7d27f-7ff f.html#WS9293e1fb3b977c5c4ecf75d71329315057c-8000):
    URL Scheme
Specify the custom URL scheme that launches the Viewer app from Safari and other apps. This option is available only if you specify a subscription or entitlement option. To ensure uniqueness, Apple recommends that you use the reverse-DNS format (com.publisher.publication). For example, suppose you specify “com.sportspub.kayaking” as the URL scheme. If you embed a “com.sportspub.kayaking://” link on your webpage, clicking the link from the mobile browser opens the viewer app. For more information, see Apple’s developer website.
That text seem to indicate that this only works if it's an (multi-issue) viewer with itunes subscription or entitlement. But if you are sure that it will work with any kind of viewer (even single-issue) I'm happy.
But I guess this only work on iOS? The DPS help file doesn't mention this functionality for building Android viewers.
    Kind regards,
    Axel Henriksson
